A LETTER FROM YOUR

LTG

Whether we like it or not, the end of our term is here. One year ago I stood on stage at DCON 2017 as your newly installed Lt. Governor, but in 2 weeks in Reno, I will stand there as the immediate past of the position. It hurts my heart to think that my time as Mama Tiger is almost to a close - it was truly a pleasure. Even when things got tough or stressful, I always reminded myself that it was worth it because it was for all the members that I serve. As Lt. Governor, I would always worry about the members’ experience: whether they felt included or not, whether they were enjoying the event or not, and so on. It was often my goal to talk to every member at a DCM at least once to show that, even if they didn’t know anyone else attending, they still had me. Not only have I been able to bond with you all as a single division, but I’ve also had the pleasure to witness all of you grow as leaders and individuals. The random conversations I have with some of you about Key Club are sometimes the highlight of my day and are always reminders to myself of why I love our division so much. We’d be talking about how we can further grow as a division, where we hope to see it in the future, or just about the latest division event or a cool service project we saw - not matter what it was, it always brought a smile to my face. Even if things didn’t go exactly as planned all the time, this term has given me a new set of memories that I will always cherish. No matter how this term may have been for you, I hope that there was at least one thing you will always remember from it. I’ll leave the rest of my simping for the banquet, but it has truly been a pleasure to serve you all as your 2017-2018 Lt. Governor.

Hey Division 43! I hope you all enjoyed your Spring Break and made good use of it. I normally have a lot of homework assigned to me but this time my teachers had a change heart <3 I got my wisdom teeth taken out so I’m using the first week of break to spend for myself. If you had them taken out before, you know it’s needed. My cheeks have gotten very big and swollen to the point where they make me look like a chipmunk. Please bear with me as I am still recovering. DCON is approaching in just a couple of weeks. I am so excited to see you all! It is crazy to think that it is happening so soon. I will be officially installed as your 2018-19 Lt. Governor. I hope I will make all of you proud and live up to Leanne’s legacy (while also creating my own, of course.) Thank you everyone for all that you do in making this such a successful term. I hope next term will be even better. See you all at DCON! With love,

VY DANG 7

korean bbq The KBBQ event was really fun especially when I got to cook the BBQ and be appreciated for it. This was definitely well prepared and successful. I hope to do this event again somewhere in the future. I loved seeing the satisfied looks on my customers’ faces.

-SHANNEN SICAT, SEASIDE EDITOR To be honest, I’M JUST REALLY GLAD NO ONE GOT SICK. This Korean BBQ was very well planned out and advertised well. It was a really fun event especially when I learned something new from it.

Parks Clean Up

12

We participated in a park clean up with an organization called Friends of Marina Parks. They’re an organization that improves the parks around Marina. We were assigned to miscellaneous tasks such as picking up trash, painting, and weeding. We were given a job of painting. It was nice seeing everyone working together and having fun. It was a nice, chill day working with everyone.

valentine’s dance

14

The event that I went to was a Valentine’s Dance that was held at Los Arboles Middle School. Many students were having a great time dancing and eating delicious cookies that they decorated along with playing fun mini games. My friends and I were busy most of the time helping out with the tickets. At the end of the dance, we cleaned up the mess the students left behind.

Valentine’s Grams 16

For the month of February, San Benito Key Club thought it would be a great idea to have a fundraiser for Valentine’s Day. For the fundraiser we decided to sell Valentine Grams which were wooden roses with personalized messages. For two weeks, we had members go around school with order forms taking orders from students and teachers on campus. We also took orders at the Valentine’s dance. We received quite a lot of orders which we worked on during off block and after school. Then on Valentine’s Day, we delivered the grams in the morning to teachers to pass out to their students. Although we did not get the profits we were h o p i n g f o r, i t w a s a g re a t experience and would be a great fundraiser for the future term.

EDITOR’S NOTE

Happy April!! This is officially my last newsletter and therefore my last editor’s note!! The term is finally coming to an end which is both a little sad but also super exciting!! Despite having such a behindthe-scenes position in the division this term, I still hope my work reached every member somehow. Whether it be the social media graphics or updates on the division website or all the newsletters I’ve made this past year, I hope it was all of some use to the division. It was a pleasure being your News Editor this term and I don't regret it for a second!! The experiences, creativity, connections, and friendships I’ve gained in Key Club has been so rewarding and unexpected. I didn’t think I’d ever appreciate Key Club as much as I do now and I’m thoroughly hoping you all get this same feeling. Thank you to anyone that contributed to the newsletter, given me feedback, encouraged

me, or anything of the sort. Every word means so much to me and I enjoyed being apart of something so special. My time as News Editor was both challenging and fun and I value every skill I’ve gained through these months. I also wanted to thank every single one of you for improving, serving, and loving the division!! It makes me so proud and happy to see a collective force flourishing and developing into something greater and greater. I’m looking forward to DCON, the next ter m, and whatever I’ll end up doing!! I’m also wishing you all success in the next term and I encourage everyone to try new things, take risks, and further yourself as an individual and a Key Clubber — you’ll never know where it’ll take you. I hope you enjoyed reading my last official issue and continue tuning in for the months to come. ♡ Take care! ( ˘▽˘)っ♨

Paw-roud to serve you,

KATELEEN ALCANTARA, DNE 22
