HEY DIVISION 43, HOW DO YOU FEEL? I FEEL GOOD. OH I FEEL SO GOOD, UH! I FEEL FINE ALL OF THE TIME! ABOOGA ABOOGA ABOOGA BOOGA BOOGA! … and maybe I’m feeling just a little bit sad summer is over. Hey Tigers! I missed you all! I’ve spent the past month in the Philippines as well as Indonesia and I’ve had quite the experience. From sweating under the hot sun and through the humid air, to eating lots of food, I’ve truly enjoyed myself. But it’s time to get back to work!
I hope you all took advantage of your summer, whether it was to prepare for the upcoming school year, spend time with family and friends, or to catch up on your sleep. Regardless of what you did, it’s time to kick off another year of service and learning. And to my fellow seniors, get ready for all the “lasts.” Last homecoming, last season, last meeting. Personally, I’m still not sure how I feel about departing so soon for college, but I’m definitely going to try to make this last year of high school a memorable one. To the rest of the underclassmen, don’t slack off!!! But don’t forget to enjoy high school while you can; time really does fly. Meanwhile, there’s a lot going on within the division: from spirit gear prep, to event planning, service, fundraisers, and socials! Don’t be afraid to get out of your shell this year. Maybe you want to set a new goal within the club you serve or perhaps you want to attend more events this year to learn more and meet new people. Whatever it is, make sure to BEE involved! Regardless of what you do this year, always BEE-lieve in yourself and make me proud! Goodluck. ♡

Key Club Training Conference Recap Saturday, June 18th
“Co-presidents Teagan Mauck and Laura Bauman, secretary Claire Simmons, treasurer Lucy Zicarelli, and member Hana Cooper attended KCTC at Manresa State Beach. We learned so much about what Key Club is as we learned how to fundraise, recruit members, participate in the organization’s activities, and much more! When we heard about FRN, it greatly interested us. After learning more about Key Club, there was an organized sandcastle building competition. Voting was based on the number of donations raised for Pediatric Trauma Program. Teagan’s group won! “ - Claire Simmons // York Secretary

“I learned many great, new things about Key Club such as professionalism and public speaking. I also got to meet new people from other divisions. The training conference was at a relaxing location, where everyone enjoyed spending time over there. The first workshop I went to was the "Key Club 101" workshop. The lieutenant governors were very open-minded and very nice to meet. I would like to attend KCTC next year as it was a great bonding and learning experience for all Key Clubbers in our region.” - Kevin Ruppert // Seaside Member
“The conference was an amazing opportunity to meet other enthusiastic Key Club members and learn more about our individual duties as officers. As president, I was particularly interested in the different fundraising and member retention ideas. Our experience at KCTC has definitely opened our eyes to the many opportunities we have to serve our community.” - Vineha Ramesh // Scotts Valley President
“At the conference I learned how to effectively manage my time, improve my public speaking, and many more useful tips. I made a lot of new friends, and saw many of my old friends from RTC last year. It was great seeing and catching up with them as we talked about what happened in the past year. What I enjoyed about KCTC was the opportunity I had to meet and talk to new people as I found out what they do in Key Club and their other extracurricular activities. When I saw everyone chanting the "How do you feel?" cheer, it made me super excited about future Key Club events such as RTC and FRN.” - Juliet Tran // Marina Member

Christina Williams Memorial - Leanne Bagood // Marina President
On June 8th, the Division Leadership Team and I volunteered to clean-up a local memorial dedicated to Christina Williams. Christina was a young girl who had been abducted at the age of thirteen. Along with other members of the community who knew of this memorial, we took time to clean the memorial. At the end of the day, the memorial looked a lot better, with over a dozen trash bags filled with weeds that consumed the surrounding area. Even though we did not talk a lot to each other while working, I feel like the DLT and other members of the community were bonding. It made me realize that you can get closer to people through just simple volunteering.

Scotts Valley’s Pizza Party - Vineha Ramesh // Scotts Valley President
In the month of June, our club was awarded a pizza party for our participation and outstanding youth involvement at the Big Brothers Big Sisters Bowl for Kids' Sake event. As a club, we raised over $250 for the cause. On June 17th, (the day before KCTC!) we enjoyed pizza at Woodstock's Pizza in Santa Cruz courtesy of the Santa Cruz County Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.

Hello Tigers! Are you all excited to go back to school?
Have
you
finished
your
summer assignments? To me it still feels
like
summer
just
started
yesterday. I know coming back to school may be hard, but see it as an opportunity to reach out and meet new people! The beginning of the school year is also a great time for you to recruit new members into your Key Clubs. So, while it is still summer, take the opportunity for you to start brainstorming ideas for member recruitment! I hope you all have enjoyed your summers filled with possibly travelling, sleeping, and most importantly SERVICE! Although summer is quickly coming to an end, you all should look forward to making this upcoming school year and term as great as possible. I BEE-lieve in you!
