A LETTER FROM YOUR
LTG
Hello Division 43!
How has school been for all of you? Many of us are probably still struggling to wake up at a reasonable time, stay awake during class, and not completely drown from homework. I know I am. Though it is always difficult to do so as a high school student, especially when active in groups like Key Club, please please please try to get a decent amount of sleep everyone! Shoot for at least 5 hours a night, though the ideal is 8. Sleep gives energy (sort of) to survive the day! It is very very very important to at least get some sleep each night, otherwise you’ll be like T.T because you’re so tired! Moving on to more Key Club related things, Region Training Conference is right around the corner! RTC holds a special place in my heart and I would love to share the experience with all you wonderful tigers! Before you continue reading the rest of t h i s m o n t h ’ s n e w s l e t t e r, I h a v e a challenge for all of you. Check out the next page for more details. I hope to get many responses! Thank you all for everything you do, and shout out to those who understood the references in the first paragraph! Have a happy September everyone! <3

OFFICER OF THE MONTH:
REBECA LAGUNA
Though we just started the second quarter, I can already see the change the club has made under her and the other officer's leadership. In addition to being president of a growing club, Rebeca also serves as our Division Member Recognition Chair. Her creativity is a joy and I am excited to see what she does with her positions.
- LTG LEANNE BAGOOD
MEMBER OF THE MONTH:
HOAN LE
Graphic design is always one of the most interesting things to me, especially because I am personally not that talented in it. The fact that Hoan Le was able to design our division tshirt as well as all our spirit gear items this term is something that I will always be thankful for. She has spent a lot of her time coming up with the initial designs, as well as revising each time I ask her to. I am proud to have her work be worn by members of Division 43, and possibly even members of other divisions.

DIVISION COUNCIL MEETING
Meet up with your fellow tigers at the Seaside High School Cafeteria from 12 - 2 pm for the upcoming September DCM! (details are tentative)
July DCM

At the DCM we got to reunite with members and officers from other clubs within Division 43. We discussed about what we have planned so far for the upcoming year and what we have accomplished so far. We then moved onto Fall Rally North, Region Training Conference, and how we should start making members aware of the events as well as how much to pay to attend. We then ended the DCM and
wrote Thank You Cards to our veterans and active soldiers.
-THU VO, MARINA MEMBER
The July DCM was surprisingly fun with only 5 total key clubbers. We made cards for veterans and blasted music. I talked about PTP a little bit and raised some awareness

Helping the Homele On Saturday, August 5th, several key clubbers from different schools attended the DCM in Hollister. The turnout was incredible, with most of the schools present. After the initial and collaborative meeting, key clubbers started their service project: making care packages for the homeless. Everyone grabbed a bag and filled it with toiletries, food, and other necessities. While doing so, people were interacting with each other. As a result of everyone’s extensive participation, several care packages were made. We left there feeling like we brought more goodness in the world. Additionally, we left with new connections and friends. Overall, it was definitely a great and enjoyable experience and a successful DCM.

SAN BENITO’S BAKE SALE
On July 16th, 2017, San Benito Key Club kicked off with a bake sale to begin fundraise for the annual event, Relay for Life. The bake sale consisted of homemade goods that were sold at a low price to help spread cancer awareness. We started off early in the morning until the afternoon in front of the Lucky’s store. We encountered many generous people who preferred to donate towards the cause rather than purchase a good. In many cases, people would share their story rather they were a survivor, or knew someone who has this deadly disease. In the of the day, we were able to raise a little more than $400. Everyone had worked very hard and was content with the outcome. We knew we could become part of a change that would forever bring someone happiness.

CLUB FAIR
My experience in club fair prep day and the actual club fair was a tiring yet fun experience especially having to bond with my fellow officers and new m e m b e r s . We c u t o u t colorful key shaped papers around the school. I made a Instagram poster which took me awhile to finish but it was still fun to make. We also made a poster with lots of pictures that involves key club that was the real attention grabber. We put a lot of effort trying to make our club standout hoping that people would sign up and come to our meetings. Having other fellow Key Clubbers to support us on recruiting new members was very helpful. I believe our club fair was a HUGE SUCCESS since the classroom where we hold our meetings are surprisingly crowded which amazed me. I was really happy with the result and wish for the same thing to happen next year.

RELAY FOR LIFE
For two days of the weekend, the San Benito Key Club spent their time at the football stadium of our high school. This is where the Relay for Life event took place as it has for many years. I personally have been to Relay for Life a few times in the past but this was my first year walking with a team. For a first experience, I was so happy that my first walking team would be with Key Club. It was quite a tiring experience only because we walked the track until three in the morning. Although it was a tiring event, it was worth it because we raised a lot of money and were able to bond more with the Key Club members. In the end, we raised over one thousand dollars as a team and were awarded with the Cameron Bradley Youth award. I hope that our club will continue in the Relay for Life event as a team and continue to fundraise for cancer research.

EDITOR’S NOTE
Happy September Tigers!! Summers officially over and I’m really sad I don’t get to sleep in and constantly watch Naruto every waking hour anymore but that’s life! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ That makes my summer sound really sad but I assure you I did things, like attend my brother’s wedding which was a fitting way to end my summer. I now have a sister in law, which is really exciting! I’m ecstatic and super happy for them!! The school year is also finally in full swing and as much we’re all dreading it, I know we can manage. I’m wishing you all nothing but success!! With that said, this is a great time to recruit new members and increase our numbers. This can help achieve our division goals!! I hope this year is great for all of you whether it be Key Club or school related. There’s a lot to look forward to so hang in there! Catch you in the next one! : )
