A LETTER FROM YOUR

LTG

Happy Fall Season Tigers! This month marks the peak of pumpkin spice lattes, horror nights, and dues season! Please please please make sure to pay your dues. You will all make me an even happier Lt. Governor if we reach our goal of 250 dues paid members! Additionally, let’s all work towards the division goal of at least $500 for PTP! With Fall Rally coming so soon, it is critical that we really work for this, as well as the District Goal of $190,000, this month. Remember: the more money raised = more lives saved = a safer world for the youth. Have fun this month with homecoming (if applicable), football season, Key Club Week, Fall Rally, and Halloween Tigers!

CONCORSO ITALIANO CAR SHOW

The Concorso Car Show was very fun and a great experience. Being with new people and helping out was very fun. What I liked best was being able to greet people at the entrance and making new friends. It was my first time volunteering and I would totally do it again.

-SOPHIE SANTOS, SEASIDE MEMBER My experience at the Concorso Car Show was great! It was really fun seeing all the people coming together to see all these cars. My favorite part was seeing some volunteers that were my friends that I haven’t seen in a while, It was nice to see people get excited over cars and magazines. Overall, my experience at the Concorso was amazing!

-MARIE ESCALANTE, SEASIDE MEMBER

CLEANING CLEANING TORO TORO PARK PARK

The Toro Park clean up was a successful and fun event. During this event, multiple key clubbers and I got to clean up the trail where the cross country teams run. We all had rakes and we raked the places where leaves were so that the trail could be clear for when cross country runs. There was also a big puddle of mud and we had to cover it up with sand and pat it down with shovels so whoever was running wouldn’t slip. It was nice knowing that we were helping our our school’s cross country team by doing this

-MELANIE PANIAGUA, MARINA HISTORIAN

On September 9, 2017 San Benito   had the privilege to participate in the annual Kinship Center Food and Wine tasting fundraiser. This event has been held for more than sixty years and in the last three years, Key Club has been an important provider of service to its organizers. It raises funds for worthy area adoptive services and foster care programs in the San Benito County.

KINSHIP

2017

About twenty members were able to participate in this great event, helping set up to provide the local vendors at the event with any possible needs. We were also able to work together with the other volunteers such as the Girls and Boys Scouts. Towards the end of the event, people had the opportunity to auction things, such as paintings and children’s toys. It was my first time attending this kind of event and it was really fun to get to know new people and help out. I thought it was heartwarming to see communities come together to contribute to this great cause. We will continue to support and work hard to better our communities and others around is.

-ANAI MURILLO GONZALES, SAN BENITO SECRETARY

Labor Day Parade

The Labor Day Parade was held in Marina on September 2nd. I was with my home club wearing our orange tiger shirts representing Key Club. It was really hot that day and we were mainly covered in sunscreen. We walked along with the others such as color guard, marching bands, horses, classic cars, and dancers. We yelled out cheers like the “How Do You Feel? cheer and held up our spirit stick and banner. It was a really nice experience to in the parade and to see all the unique groups. The crowd was also very supportive and seemed like they enjoyed the parade. Although I was feeling hot and sweaty, I had a fun time walking with my club in the Labor Day Parade.

-ALIZANDRA MOMPAR, MARINA VICE PRESIDENT

MARINA’S

CLUB RUSH Marina’s Club Rush was a successful day. We had a couple days before to plan ahead. We spent a few days preparing the poster board to show what Key Club is all about. The day of Club Rush we recruited new members who genuinely seemed interested in knowing what key club was all about. In the end, we had a good amount of people sign up.

- YHIDAH CURIEL, MARINA TREASURER

What I liked about the beach clean up is that I got to make new friends. I also liked that we all worked together to clean our beach. The best thing that happened that day was that we inspired people to also join us in the clean up.

-JOSE VISCARRA, SEASIDE MEMBER The beach clean up was really fun. I got to spend time with my friends and at the same time help out with the community. The best part about it was when a random lady helped us by picking up trash around the beach. It’s really nice feeling and knowing that we have the power to influence and encourage others. I hope that I will be able to participate in other community services and cleanings in the future.

-REGIE SEBALINO, SEASIDE MEMBER

A SEASIDE CLEAN UP

SEPTE MBER DCM

The September DCM was held at Seaside High S c h o o l w h e re w e d i d a service project which was making dog toys by using old t-shirts! We donated the toys to the SPCA for a good cause. It was a struggle to rip the shirts without scissors, but I still managed to do that. I had a great time making dog toys for the dogs and hope they would enjoy them as well.

The usage of social media is a great way to reach out to members. Create pages on Facebook, post pictures on Instagram, share a hashtag on Twitter, upload promo videos on YouTube, send out emails on Google Groups, send text reminders on Remind, and other social media platforms to publicize events.

QVCMJDBUJPOT A newsletter is essentially a "news magazine" which provides the members you serve updates on Key Club. By creating monthly newsletters, members can read the upcoming volunteer events and save the dates. Create your publications on Pages or Photoshop!

FGGFDUJWF QIPUPHSBQIZ

As a service club, we want to appeal to potential members by presenting community service as an enjoyable activity. A photographer can take pictures at events and use the photos in flyers, articles, and social media platforms to promote your club.

DMVC NFFUJOHT The main objective of having a meeting is to inform members of upcoming events. Use this time to talk about old and new businesses. You can relay the information of upcoming events in person through word of mouth or passing out agendas with a list of service event dates. Use the meetings to get to know the members.
