A T O N ITS ? k O E Y B GOOD
In general, I’m not really good at sappy, meaningful things. I’m not really good at expressing my feelings when it comes to things like this, either. Looking back at the begin ing of my term, I remember not being good at a lot of things, actually. During my term as LtG, I got the opprotunity to work with thousands of students, specifically working close with about 600, which is you guys. Speaking on a personal level, you guys are the ones who have helped me become the person I am today. Thanks to you all, I’ve become more open minded, confident, and passionate. You guys are honestly the reason I woke up everyday, went to school, and continued on. The one thing I looked forward to most was when I got to see everyone. Whether it be a DCM, club visit, rally, or service project, just being able to see you guys gave me that energy I needed this year. As members and officers of 65 East, you guys have molded the division to what it is today. 65 East is still a pretty newly formed division, and thanks to your hard efforts, we have been able to reach newer heights. From winning the spirit stick at PAR, to donating 2x our goal for Turtle Toys, to seeing you have a new passion for service are just a few examples of our successes together this year! After this year alone, I am confident that 65 East will continue to do better and better in both service and spirit! Aloha, Beaverton, Southridge, Sunset, and Westview Key Clubs are all going to have a special place in my heart. You guys have become my close friends and I will always remember our memories together. To Cedar Hills Kiwanis and Hillsboro Kiwanis, thank you for welcoming me into your family and teaching me more about our Kiwanis family. To our lovely advisors, thank you for your cooper-ation and hard work this year! To everyone else, thank youfor making my year the best year I’ve had in my life so far! This isn’t a goodbye, but rather a “see you later.” In the future, when we cross paths again, be sure to stop and say hi to me. I’d love to catch up! In love and service,
C. Kaye DelaChica Immediate Past Lt.G of Division 65 East PNW District of Key Club International kaye.delachica@gmail.com (503) 935-6154
plans aftER HIGH SCHOOL SUmmer
This summer, I plan on having as much fun as possible. My friends and I plan on going on camping trips, exploring different parts of Oregon, and road tripping through the west coast, starting from Seattle all the way to San Diego! I plan on studying super hard in college so I want totry new things this summer!
COllege
I’m taking advantage of the Oregon promise and heading to PCC for my first two years of college. Then, I plan on transferring to University of Southern California or University of San Diego. I was accepted to both of these schools this year but I think it would be better to start off at PCC ($$). I intend on double majoring in biology and chemistry minoring in a second language!
Grad School After receiving my bachelor’s degree, I hope to attend either Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU) or Johns Hopkins University. Although two very hard schools to get in, I’m confident in my skills and just hoping for the best (lol)!!
Career
If you haven’t added everything up yet, I hope to be a doctor, specializing in neurosurgery. I’ve always wanted a career that helps others and that gives back. Being a doctor, I get to help other people and save lives. I hope to work at OHSU when I’m older and work with KDCCP!
Letter From Your LtG, Julia Dayton Hey Turtles, I am so honored to be able to lead such a spirited and truly amazing division into the 2017-2018 term! I had so much fun with you guys at District Convention, as well as meeting some of you at DCMs over the previous year, including our Pre-CONS. I am so proud to say that when I look at 65 East, I see a division made up of people who are eager and willing to serve, so much so that each and every person that I have had the pleasure of meeting in Key Club has proven to me that there will never be an end to how much people can care about the world, and about each other. This year, I look forward to expanding communication, highlighting the unique qualities of each club, and meeting each of you guys to develop a strategy that will not only bring 65 East to new heights, but will impact our division for many years to come. I look forward to meeting all of you soon at DCMs, club visits, or any other occasion which may present itself, and until then, feel free to message me with any questions or concerns, or even if you just want to chat! With that, I would like to invite all of you on a journey, one of discovery, friendship, passion, and before all else, service. In Love and Service, Julia Dayton

April DCM: Officer Training Congratulations with the start of a new term! As we remember the year that has passed and look forward to the year to come, we invite all of you to attend the officer training for all incoming officers and members! Officers will have the opportunity to learn more about your positions and the requirements of those positions, and we will also be playing some games in order to bond and have the opportunity to meet people from another school! So don't miss out on this opportunity to get to know the new officers of each school, and make some new friends! Click on the picture below for more information about the event! In Love and Service, Julia Dayton
Turtles of the Month At DCON, he was very spirited. He dressed very spirited and always participated in spirit battles. I noticed how hard he tried to participate in chants, and personally I really appreciated it. During forums, I know he participated and was respectful. -Ashley Arounpradith, VP of Aloha HS
Don Nguyen, Westview HS
Mike Kang, Southridge HS
Mike Kang volunteered at Shamrock Run on a Sunday for four hours with such enthusiastic spirit, it created a domino effect. Throughout the event, as he gave out water of cups to the runner, he displayed exuberant energy for a mere job of passing out water. Later, when I asked how was volunteering, he chuckled and said, "It was so much fun passing out water!" We are happy to have Mike in our club. He exemplifies the values that Key Club holds such as: character building, caring and inclusiveness. -Vienyen HoPham, VP of Southridge HS

Divisional Leadership Team Applications Are you interested in finding out more about the division while working closely with representatives from other schools and the LtG? Then apply for the 2017-2018 Divisional Leadership Team! There are many positions available for all interests, including Divisional Editor, Fundraising Chair, K-Family Relations Chair, and Spirit Coordinators! Aside from having a chair for each of hese positions, we will also have corresponding committee, with a representative from each club! This way, you can apply to serve on the board, even if you have other commitments that may not allow you to be a chair. I encourage all of you to apply, regardless of age or club standing, for this excellent opportunity to serve not only in your club, but also to serve the division!
Apply Here! The Fundraising Chair works closely with all the treasurers in the division to ensure that all the clubs are in a well-standing financial status. They make sure that the division raises money for the district project and fundraises enough to bring members to DCON. This position will require organization and communication with the LtG and the rest of the DLT to carry out goals. -Rosie Nguyen, Outgoing Fundraising Chair
As part of the DLT, all of you work together as a team by helping your LtG and the division. As our divisional spirit coordinator, your main task is to coordinate our spirit! Whether it's for District Convention, Portland Area Rally, or any other Rally you attend, you will be in charge of aiding our division in spirit along with our spirit leaders. This can range anywhere from creating cheers, helping to learn cheers, preparing spirit gear, and leading chants! This is not the only thing you will be in charge of, however, as the spirit coordinator is also known as the membership growth chair. In addition to managing our spirit, you will be in charge of spreading the word about Key Club International and our service, and possibly assisting in the chartering of new schools into our Kiwanis family. This is a great position for the open minded and outgoing individual, but it is also a great opportunity to improve on those skills, as well. - Mark Huynh, Outgoing Spirit Coordinator

MEET YOUR NE Hello, PNW! My name is Dmitri Saberi, and I am so honored and excited to be serving as your 2017-2018 District Governor. Key Club is an organization that is not just capable of creating incredible opportunities- it is capable of changing lives. I have definitely had a life-changing three years of service, and am looking forward to another amazing year! Through my experience as a member, Lieutenant Governor, and now, a District Governor, I have gotten the opportunity to see Key Club from several different angles. What all those perspectives had in common was their focus: making a positive impact on those around us. My core plan as District Governor is centered around that, and I hope that we can create that impact as a District this year. But throughout my term, please keep in my mind that I am also a member just like you. Never hesitate to shoot me a text, email, or message with questions, concerns, or if you just want to talk! I am always here for you all, and one of the most rewarding parts of Key Club for me is connecting with you guys. Thanks so much, and I look forward to seeing you, talking to you, and working with you throughout the year! In love and service, Dmitri Saberi District Governor Pacific Northwest District Key Club International Email: governor@pnwkeyclub.org Phone: (509) 715-7475
EW EXECUTIVES Hello PNW District Key Clubbers!
My name is Brian Nguyen and I am thrilled to be serving as your District Treasurer for the 2017-2018 Key Club term. I can’t wait to connect with all of you and bring our district to greater heights! Some of my goals for this term is to continue serving our communities and increase communication with you, the members, to ensure financial transparency. I hope to educate and update you all through my quarterly Treasurer Snapshots, which will have information that will help you increase your club’s financial success. This will be my fourth and final year in Key Club. Before serving as District Treasurer, I was honored to have the opportunity to serve as a Lieutenant Governor and Divisional Executive Assistant. The most important thing I’ve learned during my Key Club journey is that the members are the core of our district, and assisting you in any way possible will continue to keep us as the Pacific NorthBEST! If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to talk, feel free to contact me at any time. In the end, I’m just another Key Clubber who’s eager to serve the community and meet new people! In care and service, Brian Nguyen Key Club International Pacific Northwest District District Treasurer E-mail: treasurer@pnwkeyclub.org Phone: (503) 954-5855
MEET YOUR N Hello hello, PNW! My name is Ashley Villanueva and I am both humbled and honored to be serving as your District Secretary for the 2017-2018 service year. Key Club has given hundreds of thousands of high schoolers across the globe the opportunity to be a part of a something much greater than they thought—the largest student-led service organization in the world. Because of this, we have all been impacted through the power of service. And this is what motivates me to not only serve you as a District Board member, but to connect, assist, and relate to you in any way possible! As I am entering my last year in Key Club, I hope to utilize my past experiences as club vice president and lieutenant governor, to the best of my ability while serving as District Secretary by increasing the bonds, communication, and voices heard around the district, while simultaneously being the support system to secretaries and ultimately the members. It may seem daunting to think about the “Executive Board” and the hierarchy of Key Club, but honestly,no title or position will define how we are all a part of the 270,000+ members in Key Club International. Keeping this in mind, you will hear or see this a lot by supposed “higher-ups”, but we really do mean it when we say to not hesitate to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have. Reach me through text, email, social media, or snail mail! Thank you for reading! I look forward to working with the rest of the District Board to ensure that you have a fun and successful service year. In Caring and Service, Ashley Villanueva District Secretary Pacific Northwest District Key Club International p: 253-347- 6676 | e: secretary@pnwkeyclub.org
