Building strategies with lines

How did we proceed through the game? How did it help us build strategies?

We started with identifying different structures that exist in the region. We used mainly threats to represent the current networks, such as water network and city network. City centres, subcenters and new towns were marked as nodes. To have a better overview of the morphology of the region, we showed population distribution using mesh. The denser it is, the denser is the population. In the picture below there are the three aforementioned structures. From this image we can conclude that most of the population settled in Guangzhou and Shenzhen. On the other hand the areas with a dense network of rivers, therefore more vulnerable to flooding, were not populated as much. The game helped us to understand better this enormous region, to define main lines of potential development and to strengthen the currently existing networks. We explored different scales in order to come up with strategies to build resilience in the region.
