We are Amway Global Two men and a plan The Amway business began in 1959 when Rich DeVos and Jay Van Andel developed an innovative sales and marketing concept that allowed Independent Business Owners (IBOs) to earn income based on their efforts to market high-quality products and recruit others to do the same. That same opportunity today is enjoyed by more than 3 million individuals in more than 80 countries and territories.

In 1999, Quixtar was created as a separate business to capitalize on new technology and e-commerce, and quickly became the company’s exclusive North American business opportunity. However, since then, Amway affiliate markets around the world have adopted e-commerce, lessening the need for a separate, web-based brand. In order to leverage the marketing strength of the $8.2-billion Amway brand, our North American business moved to the Amway Global name. This transition was completed in May 2009, coinciding with Amway’s 50th anniversary celebrations. More than 13,000 employees support the Amway business worldwide. We are based in Ada, Michigan, with Canadian operations based in London, Ontario.

Compensation Becoming an IBO Your life. Your business. Your way. When you register with Amway Global, you become an Independent Business Owner. That means you’re free to grow your business the way you want to. But you’re also part of something larger. Around the globe, 12,000 people sign up for this business opportunity – every day. Our business model is looked upon as the standard in the $78-billion direct selling industry, and we’re proud to offer compensation and support that leads the pack.
Retail markup is the difference between the amount you pay for products and the retail price at which you sell them. For example retail margins on health and beauty products are 35% when these products are sold at Suggested Retail price. You have the freedom to determine independently the prices at which you sell products to customers, so you decide your retail margins. 6
Making money Very simply, the Amway Global IBO Com pensation Plan rewards you for selling products and services and for sponsoring others as IBOs who do the same. You earn income from your retail markup on product sales to customers. You can also earn additional income through monthly performance bonuses ranging from 3% to 25% of business volume depending on your monthly productivity. And when you build your business through sponsoring others and achieving even greater product volume, you may qualify for monthly and annual leadership bonuses and other cash awards and business incentives. This opportunity is unlimited, but individual results vary. The average monthly gross income for IBOs who are “active”* in the business was $115 based on the most recent independent survey. Some earn less while others earn much more. * Approximately 66% of all IBOs of record were found to be “active.” An “active” IBO is one who attempted to make a retail sale, or presented the Amway Global IBO Compensation Plan, or received bonus money, or attended a company or IBO meeting during the year.

Selling: Selling products and generating a customer base is critical to the success of your independent business. The easiest way to make some immediate income is to sell products at a retail price. The difference between that price, and what you paid for the product (IBO Cost), is your retail profit. Sponsoring: To expand your business, you’ll want to share this opportunity with others by sponsoring them. You’ll be responsible for training those new IBOs, just as you would be trained by the IBO who would sponsor you. As an IBO, you’ll enjoy the added benefit of learning about our great products by purchasing them yourself at IBO Cost. By personally experiencing their high quality and great performance, you’ll be able to speak confidently and with conviction when you start selling to customers.
