Location: Cape Canaveral
Aerial view of the site
The building is located in Cape Canaveral in complex 34, which was used as a launching point for the rockets. The site is located in a hurricane area.
Visualisation showing the ‘human tower’ in relation to the disc and existing elements.
Visualisation showing the ‘technological tower’ in relation to the lights.
The lights on the disc are strictly related to the spacing of weather stations and buoys in the sea. Those data collection points are the first stage of hurricane prediction. The collected data is later sent to the technological tower and sent through the disc and read in the human tower

In-situ reinforced concrete Materials Concrete used in the building is made with the use of recycled aggregate, therefore it is more sustainable. Natural grey colour works together with the concrete materiality of the disc.
Outside walls of the rooms are clad in plywood strips, which is durable and sustainable
Foyer area is built without use of glass, instead there are timber louvers, which adjust due to weather conditions
The roofs of Recycled the rooms are glass is used clad in as glazing recycled zinc for the rooms.

Structural strategy
Structural solution is based on the weather conditions of Cape Canaveral. As the building is set in a hurricane active zone, it requires special qualities such as stability and durability. The shield is facing the main wind directions and its aerodynamic shape protects the rest of the scheme. The rooms are placed on the inside of the wall.
