AN ENGAGEMENT STORY TRULY MADE IN HEAVEN! Or at least a mile above my parents farm in a plane that is...but it felt like heaven.

It was Sat. Sept. 27th 1997, and Trevor and I went golfing in Detroit Lakes. After golfing, he suggested going for a plane ride. He had his pilots license and owned a plane at the time, so we occassionally would go flying on our dates. It was a beautiful day for flying. It was sunny with very little wind. We were flying above my parents house, when he made the plane drop a bit. I told him not to do that again, because I don't like being caught off guard. He said, "REALLY - open that compartment then." I hesitated, not knowing

what would happen next. When I opened it up, I saw a box which had the engagement ring in. I was completely caught off guard again! He really had succeeded in finding a unique, and fun way to propose. And when this all happened, we were flying a mile above my parents farm. And what is even more unique about our story, is that we now live on that farm. Today, we own and operate that family farm where one day my true love proposed to me from a mile above. When my

Great Grandma Emma heard the news, she said, "well he didn't give you much of a choice, being a mile in the air, did he?" THE MOST MAGICAL ENGAGEMENT STORY On Friday, October 25, 2013, my best friend proposed to me at The Happiest Place on Earth.

It all started when Zachary arrived into Orlando that Friday to celebrate my 22nd birthday at Walt Disney World. Once we checked into our resort, he insisted we immediately go to the Boardwalk. The sun began to set and Zach led me to our favorite spot at Walt Disney World: Sea Breeze Point. With his arm around me, we looked out across the lake at the sunset; just talking. Then he asked, "So would you like your birthday present?" My lame response, "Sure, if you want to give it to me now...?" Then, he pulled out the ring from his pocket. After seeing the sight of that beauty, I turned covering my tears and ran away (only a few feet). "Will you come back here?" I turned around to Zach getting down on one knee. At this point, everything became a blur, because I was extremely

overwhelmed with joy and surprise. From what I remember, Zach reached his hand out for my hand. I gave him my right hand. "That's the wrong hand, Babe," and he grabbed the correct hand. Zach said something along the lines of, "I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Nicole Gilbertson, will you marry me?" My lame response, "I will marry you, Zach Craft!" (I should have practiced my response.) He got up, and after a kiss and hug, Zach looked directly in my the eyes and shouted, "WE'RE GETTING MARRIED!!" That's when I left Earth and ran away, again. This time Zach just followed behind. After many phone calls, lots of tears, and plenty of kisses...WE'RE ENGAGED!! Zach and I couldn't have asked for a more magical proposal and we are very blessed and excited to begin the chapters to our happily ever after. Zach Craft and Nicole Gilbertson

a fairy tale engagement The engagement story of Leah Pearson and Charles Kelton

Growing up in picturesque little Park Rapids, Minnesota, I never would have fathomed that I would one day find myself standing before a tall, dark, and handsome Brit on one knee in the ancient courtyard of an 11th century cathedral one fine day in the English city where I attended university. But how true it is that God works in mysterious ways… I’d received a text from Charles that morning saying, “I love you, Beautiful. Hope your day brings you happiness in ways you couldn’t imagine.” I smiled at how adorable he was and wished we weren’t on opposite sides of the country at the time. Little did I know, we weren’t. I’d been visiting some college friends in Gloucester, England for 3 weeks and missing my man in London, 3 hours away. That afternoon, we visited the Gloucester Cathedral tea rooms, and afterwards meandered through the atmospheric courtyard of this stunning site which had been a place of worship for over a thousand years. Rounding a corner, my friend pointed behind me and said, “Let’s go this way” and when I turned, there was Charles, holding a bouquet of flowers, with a nervous smile on his face. Flabbergasted to see him, I jumped into his arms and asked, “What are you doing here?! I’m so happy to see you!” My friends silently slipped away behind us – little did I know they’d been in cahoots with him to surprise me like this for nearly 2 months – and he led me back out to the cloisters courtyard. I could feel his heart pounding frantically in his chest as he began to recite from memory a poem he’d written as we circled the fountain in the shadow of that beautiful cathedral tower, standing strong and timetested high above our heads. At the end of the poem he got down on one knee and popped open a little ring box. Inside rested the perfectly classic diamond solitaire. He slipped it on my finger that day, and now I shall wear it as long as I live. I jumped up and down a fair bit and squealed like a child,

and then we walked about the cathedral hand in hand, the vergers congratulating us and asking how it went. The surprises weren’t finished rolling over me, though, as afterwards in the garden of my alma mater up the road an engagement party had been planned by more of my friends, and my eyes fell upon the faces of some of the dearest people in my life from all across England whom I hadn’t seen in months. They had gathered, some of them from hours away, just to celebrate us. We had a champagne toast and laughed late into the night. And it couldn’t have been a more perfect start to the rest of Charles’ and my life together –this small-town Minnesotan girl and this handsome Brit. Our very own fairy tale!

A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO PROPOSE ...and an even more beautiful proposal

Nick Nelson and Natasha Reed standing by the Maplewood State Park Welcome sign. Nick asked Natasha if she wanted to go look at the fall colors at Maple Wood State Park. Natasha didn’t think anything of it and agreed. On the drive to Maple Wood Natasha fell asleep (like usual), and when she awoke Nick said he was going to run in to the Park Ranger to get a day pass. When Nick came back to the car he told Natasha that the Park Ranger told him to go up to Hallaway Hill Overlook if we hadn’t been there lately. Nick and Natasha hiked up the Hill and when they were almost to the top Nick told Natasha to wait a few seconds, so he could catch his breath and because there were other people up on the hill.

They waited for the people to leave and when they finally left they made their way up to the hill. At the top of the hill, Natasha was reading the sign that was up there. Natasha heard a beep and was looking around trying to find out where that noise came from. Nick then asked Natasha to come over to where he was standing because she was looking around and he was getting nervous. When she got over there Nick grabbed her hands and said: “Natasha, you are always there for me. I love you. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” He got down on one knee and said, “Will you marry me?” She said yes just as both sets of par-

ents came out of the trees. They had everything recorded (that was the beep that Natasha had heard). We continued recording as we shared cake and wine and started spreading the word! We are so happy that Nick’s father was able to get everything recorded even what our family members had to say when we called them. We are also so happy that Nick was able to arrange it so that both our parent’s were there to experience the engagement with us as my parent’s live in ND. It is definitely a fun story to tell!!!
