What’s NEW at WE Fest! Twenty-nine years ago an ambitious young man named Jeff Krueger joined by good friend Chyrll Weimar-Sparks, came to Detroit Lakes looking for a place to house an outdoor music and camping festival. In his hunt he came upon the Soo Pass Ranch and WE Fest was born. After pouring their hearts into building an event that is today the largest music and camping festival in the nation, they both elected to retire after the WE Fest 2010 show. On November 1, of 2010, this transition went into place with a new Management Team and great excitement for the future. The new Team is dedicated to not just maintaining an already successful business, but to grow 4
the Company for the future. Everyone on the Team is taking this opportunity very seriously. We desire to have an event that is not only second to none in size, but second to none in what this venue offers our Patrons. We are focused on improvements that make our venue very fan friendly, comfortable and the best experience possible for the best Country Music Fans in the world. We are focused on tomorrow not just today and here is just a brief highlight of some things we have added this year, with more to come. One of the biggest improvements are the baseball stadium seats that came from Comiskey Park in Chicago, former home of the White Sox. Although, we are great TWINS fans, the baseball history that comes with these seats is tremendous. These seats have seen some of the greatest players in baseball as well as witnessing a World Series Championship. Now they are in Detroit Lakes and will continue building history in front of the biggest stars in Country Music. We trust you will enjoy.
We also have upgraded all our jumbotrons and added a new one. The previous screens were great, but like everything in the technology world…they were getting outdated. Today we have state of the art screens for your viewing enjoyment, plus we have added one more. Each of these is the same quality and synchronized to perfection. One hanging from the towers on each side of the main stage, one back in the middle of the concert bowl, and the new one just behind the Upper Grand Stand.
enable us to provide greater shows. The new stage is able to host national acts and we will inaugurate it at WE Fest by headlining Jerrod Niemann for our Wednesday evening WE Fest Pre-party. Make sure you make your way to the Saloon to experience this great improvement.
All of this and more has been done to improve your enjoyment while you are our guests. Please enjoy yourselves and be kind to your neighbor. There will be more to come for our 30th Anniversary show “Lovin’ Your Country in 2012” headlining none other than Alabama. They headlined the very first Just as the four jumbotrons truly assure that every seat in WE Fest in 1983, and along the house has a great view of with the five times they have everything on the Main Stage, returned, they headlined our we have improved our sound 10th and 20th Anniversary, and now are reuniting to be system with several more here for our 30th! We trust delay towers to assure that we will see you there as well! every seat in the house also has the best sound possible. Please be sure to let us know Whether you have a front row seat or are a fan of Gen- your thoughts at eral Admission, the sound will chrissywefest@arvig.net be the same great quality. RANCH HOUSE SALOON OPENING WEDNESDAY 4PM • THURSDAY-SATURDAY 2PM 10
More happenings on the newly remodeled Barn Stage Nashville Producer, Singer Songwriter Chas Sandford will be hosting on the Barn Stage Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 7:45 to 8:30. Each night Sandford will be bringing up a special guest to play and discuss the way they create great songs. Early in his career Sandford wrote, performed and produced songs covered by John Waite (#1 hit “Missing You”), Stevie Nicks (Top five single “Talk to Me”) and Chicago (Top five single “What kind of Man should I be”) and more recently “Love Will Come Back” with Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus. “I’ve always wanted to be an artist, but I was on a roll as a
producer and writer, so I went with it” says Sandford. Today he finds himself one of the most in-demand producer/songwriters in the business. Storme Warren, host of Headline Country, an American country music news and entertainment show airing on GAC, will be joining Sandford on the stage Thursday and Friday night. Based in Nashville, TN, “Headline Country” is the only nationally airing television program to cover the world of country music. The show features news, interviews, performances and various forms of “behind-the-scenes” content.

Sunny Sweeney Friday, August 5 4:15 p.m.
With her thick Texan accent and love for old school country, Sunny Sweeney is well on her way to being country music’s next “it” girl. She has opened for country icons such as Loretta Lynn and Hank Williams Jr. and will be opening for Sugarland at WE Fest on August 5th! She’s also an Opry favorite, playing more than 20 times since her debut. Sweeney recently signed with Republic Nashville and has released her first album with the label. The record features her hit single “From A Table Away,” which earned her the highest-charting debut single of any female country artist in the last four years. This beautiful new country starlet is definitely one to watch in 2011. 40

Darius Rucker Saturday August 6 6:15 p.m.
There’s a new sensation on the country music scene and he’s here at WE Fest—“Heaven in 2011”. Darius Rucker, former lead singer of Hootie & the Blowfish has gone back to his roots and is quickly becoming country music’s new “it” man. Rucker has always produced catchy tunes that were rooted in the same elements that make up great country music. One of the most popular front-men in mainstream pop/rock during the mid-’90s, his vibrant first country album debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts and he has had multiple hit singles since. His down to earth personality, matched with his veteran stage presence will make Darius Rucker someone you don’t want to miss! Yet another reason why WE Fest is Heaven in 2011 54

Rascal Flatts Saturday, August 6 10:45 p.m.
Country music trio Rascal Flatts, is one of the most successful groups to come out of Nashville in years-- and they’re here at WE Fest, “Heaven in 2011”! In November of 2010 the band released their latest album, “Nothing Like This” and it instantly rose to the top of the charts. Their single “Why Wait” was the first #1 single with the group’s new label Big Machine Records, and their 12th #1 song todate. They sure know how to put on a great show with their state of the art equipment, high energy stage presence and hit filled set lists. Be prepared to dance the night away!
