For Rhino Render

While in the “Top” viewport, draw the “Rectangle Light”. Be sure to encompass all of your geometry with the light.

steps

Setting up lights Switch to one of the elevation viewports, such as, “Right” or “Front” to verify that the direction of the light is emitting down on your geometry. This is indicated by the directional stem. If it is not, simply rotate the light 180 degrees.

For Rhino Render

While in the “Perspective viewport, do a quick render to verify the light is working properly. It should cast soft ambient light with no hard shadows.

steps

Setting up lights If the render is too dark you can increase the distance between the light and the geometry. Additionally, you can add more rectangle lights, but be aware this will increase the render time.

The “Point light” can be found in the same toolbar as the rectangle light. This “Point Light” emits light 360 degrees in all directions and casts hard shadows.

steps

Setting up lights Place the “Point Light” somewhere in your scene. Similar to the rectangle light, the brightness of the “Point Light” depends on its distance from the geometry. The closer it is, the brighter it appears.
