The Map of the World in 1575 by Francois De Belleforest

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA A

I have come upon extremely curious map dated 1575 and drawn by a Frenchman named Francois De Belleforest. See if you can find the map online in better resolution, look at the cities and settlements and read the inscriptions. Many interesting things can be found on this map. Here is what Dmitry Mylnikov writes about this map: On this map, it is interesting that the most important cities are depicted and signed. Additionally, many cities are depicted on the territory of Africa. We can also observe rivers that do not exist on modern maps. While working on a number of articles about Tartary, I looked through a lot of old maps, and they all have one feature: on them, the authors can completely incorrectly depict the shape and the position of rivers, lakes and seas, islands and continents, but in doing so, the topology of objects, that is, their interrelations, is almost always correctly represented. The errors on what rivers the cities are located, which river falls into which other river, lake or sea, which seas are connected to other seas or oceans by straits, are practically not present. This is explained quite simply. It was not possible to accurately measure distances and the form of the objects, but where any strait through which you can sail to one or another country, or which rivers you need to sail in order to get to a particular city, were very well known by many travelers and traders. In addition, a similar configuration of rivers in North Africa, where the Sahara desert should actually be found, is observed on other maps until the first half of the 18th century. And only after this moment, on this place, the "Grand Desert Sahara" begins to be designated, that is the great Sahara desert. It turns out that in the middle of the 16th century the Sahara was not yet in Africa. It is also interesting that if the names of the cities in Europe, the Middle East, India and northern Africa are more or less consistent with what we know, then in the same Siberia or the territory of present-day China, the depiction of the cities is not even close! And there are surprisingly many cities depicted in Siberia, including clearly beyond the Arctic Circle: continues on pg. 6

In my search for the true heritage of my Ancestors, I have come across an important source of information ... maps! It appears that as long as humanity had existed, it has also created maps of their close and distant lands. Unfortunately, at least for the past few hundreds of years, those in power and in control of humanity have also been destroying maps that do not fit the status quo and have also been creating maps in order to shape the world to what they want it to be. There is a huge inconsistency when it comes to different maps of the world: old maps that are recognized as official, do not look any different from modern maps ... with the same cities, same rivers and same shorelines. To all those studying history and heritage, a "coincidence" such as this should immediately bring up a red flag ... it is simply impossible! On the other hand, a huge number of maps are not only missing, it is said that they have never existed! For example: while there are literally thousands of old and ancient maps that were created in Europe (especially the ones that are recognized by the official science), there is just a handful of old and ancient maps that were created in Asia. I do not know about you, but to me this at the very least seems odd. Once in a while, however, I just happen to come across an old or ancient map ... and I really could care less if it is not recognized by the official science or "the academy". What happens next, is that I begin to study such a map and learn that even as little as just a few hundreds years ago, the world was not as we are told, and that the new "modern" history of the world has been written in the place of the true history of the world, which our children may simply never know. We, and a few generations of our Ancestors, have been brainwashed to believe to live in the world that simply is not true and is a figment of someone's very sick imagination.

Taingim, Naiman, Turfon, Coβin, Calami, Obea. Do these names tell you about anything? Much is also unclear with the territory of modern China. The names of most cities are clearly not Chinese. And where is Beijing?! It is widely believed that Beijing was the largest city in the world in the period from 1425 to 1650 and from 1710 to 1825. And even though we can see many cities in this place, but not the largest city in the world. Or the Chinese have not yet been relocated to our Earth and this happened after 1575?! In the course of discussion of this map, it was suggested that the author could draw the nonexistent cities in order "to make it more beautiful". However, if you look at the same North America, then the author does not "make up" anything. Since there are no cities, then nothing is depicted. And in Europe, he did not come up with anything. Although, there are oddities. It is very interesting which cities seemed significant to the author in Europe and on the territory of Russia. In Europe, there are: Lisbona (Lisbon), Sevilla, Lion, Brest, Paris, Ausburg, Wien, Danzic, Cracow, Buda, Ragura (?), Bergen, plus not clearly legible Constantinople. But a little to the right and below it we see Troy (Troia)!!! That is, in the second half of the 16th century its location was not only well known, but the city itself still existed. And the official version of history claims that Troy disappeared before our era. By the way, where is Rome? Or was there not enough room for the badge and inscription on the peninsula? On the territory of Russia there are

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

8

Moscow, Vysehrad, Novgorod, Solovki (!!!), and a certain S. Nicolas - Saint Nicholas (?). Frankly speaking, not very crowded. Or is it that only administrative centers of the territories are depicted? If so, then what is the population density in North Africa and in Siberia, if there are so many administrative centers there? It is also interesting as to which European countries, according to the author, were worthy of being displayed on the map: England, Spain, Gaul, Germany, Greece, Italy, Russia, Sweden and Norway. Yeah, not very dense. Tartary, by the way, is indicated, although the border is shown in such a way that it is very close to Europe. And the total area, which the author attributed to Tartary, is relatively small. It is interesting that the France itself, in the opinion of the author of the map, who is supposedly a Frenchman, is called Gallia, as in the time of the Roman Empire. But Rome is not present. Well, with all the rest, let's say, the author could lie or exaggerate, but as his country is called, which according to the official myth by the time of the reign of Louis XI (1461-1483) actually put an end to feudal fragmentation and turned into an absolute monarchy, the author should have known?! It also cannot be said that this map was created by a complete ignoramus, since many things are displayed and indicated quite correctly. And it surrenders to me that this Frenchman (or the Gallic?) can be trusted more than the official historical myth. And if this is so, then in 1575, the catastrophe that led to the formation of the Sahara Desert, has not yet occurred. There are still cities and rivers

SLAVA RODU

present, which had disappeared after the disaster. I happen to agree on many counts with Dmitry Mylnikov in regards to this map. However, when I first looked at this map, a few very important details immediately caught my full attention. First, there are no North or South Poles! Instead, the drawing of the "northern" landmasses are very similar to the continent of Daaria. The "southern" landmass is called none other than "the not yet known southern land". In other words, there are no Arctic or Antarctica. But how can this be? Could the author of the map simply forget to place Australia on the map, and instead mixed up Antarctica with Australia?! It is highly doubtful. Second, not only is the Sahara Desert missing, but also several "important" modern landmarks are not on the map as well. I am, of course, referring to "The Eye of Sahara" and "Lake Victoria". My advice to you is this: study this map yourself and see what objective conclusions you can come to. Dmitriy Kushnir

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAA

The main human qualities we must educate in our children ourselves, and not give them to the teachers, schools and other foreign people. As an example, you can use the author under the name Svetozar, who creates wonderful stories for his children ... When Alex went to his grandfather's house, his grandfather was sitting on a bench and crafting something with a knife, which he always carried with him in his boot. Maybe that's why it was called boot-knife. Or maybe the name of the knife comes from the fact that it is usually worn near the foot. On the belt or in the boot. It is always at hand when needed. Maybe will save a life when need be, or maybe will come in handy on the farm. The knife can be used in many ways. Only not a kind person thinks of it as of a weapon first. But the creator, a woodworker for example, can cut something, can create beauty. The mistress can 12

prepare food, feed the children. Well, a witch doctor or a warrior, in general, often saves a life with a knife. Each in his own way. It has nothing to do with the knife, but with the person using the knife. The knife was small. By the way, his grandfather also had a knife on his belt. It was very pretty, with a birch bark handle, but for some reason his grandfather never used it. Maybe he felt protective of it, or maybe there was some other, more weighty reason that Alex did not know then. Having looked closely, the kid saw what his grandfather was making. It was a pipe. It was

SLAVA RODU

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAA

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAA

made of ordinary reed, usually pretty fast. In Russia, such pipes were called sapellas, zhaleyki, and breathers. What variety of such pipes were made from cane, reeds, angelica and even birch bark. It was rare for a shepherd to not have a pipe. About the street performers, and the gusliardpilgrims, not enough can be said. I do not know why, from boredom or for some other reason they were made by people. Yes, only everyone played with them, whoever was not lazy. And it seemed that none of them were taught music, but all played. Miracles. Maybe the soul itself did so and sang. And the body simply followed. In the meantime, the grandfather brought the pipe to his lips and began to

play. Some kind of plaintive melody flowed. Maybe that's why people said: "Zhaleyka is crying". Grandfather played very nicely. And then Alex thought that the space around him filled with something other than sound. As if it was not just the sound of a pipe, but as if something was covering up this space and filling it with something else. He could not understand what. Before his eyes, and maybe not his eyes, then he did not understand, some images floated. What sad memories suddenly came to him. As if a wave of memories swept him from head to foot. He remembered how, when he was fishing with his father, he accidentally stepped on the frog and crushed it with his boot. It's unclear why, right now he remembered about it. Then, too, he lamented and reproached himself for it. But now, he felt so sorry for it, as if it had just happened. His soul seemed to shrink in that moment. It was like that, time itself turned around and he was experiencing now the same feelings as then. Somewhere in the depth of himself, he felt heaviness and deep sadness. He was wilted, and the boy's eyes filled with tears. He, as a child, sniffed. At the same time, he saw

SLAVA RODU

13

it all, as if from the side. As if not with his own eyes, but with the eyes of someone else who was present at that time. The image was so vivid that it seemed he could come over and take himself by the shoulder. But then his grandfather stopped playing. This vivid image, as if dissolved in the air, like a mirage. Only Alex remained, with tears streaming down his eyes. Grandfather looked at him, slyly grinned and his eyes lit up, like of a mischievous boy. He took a breath and played again. This time, he played some kind of funny folk song. Alex had already heard it before, but could not remember the words. It was sung by Cossacks at some kind of fair. On Alex's face, a smile appeared by itself. The space around him was enveloped in a sparkling fog. It seemed that small fireflies surrounded him. As much sound there was, this fog seemed to be just as much. In the chest, from these sparks, as if a light broke out. Which soon turned into a flame and this flame could not be stopped. The heat grew stronger and seemed to burst from the chest. As if the fire that was inside wanted to merge with the sparks that were around. Without realizing it, he began to move. Not that he did not want this. It seemed that he could stop when he wanted, but the body itself already danced to the beat of the music, and these movements were so natural, that he did not want to stop them. Then, he just decided to let go of the body, and it began to make out such moves, which Alex never learned, and from that he did not know of what he could do. He was seized with an incredible sense of enthusiasm, as if he really was in the soul

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAA

14

itself. It was so joyful, fun and easy. He began to whistle to the beat and from the chest, as if by itself, the song flowed, the words of which he did not know. The body was on its own, and he, Alex, was not in it. There was an incredible ease of movement, and at the same time, this movement was filled with incredible power. It seemed to him that now he could easily jump onto the house. There was no fatigue, and he doubted that he was in control of his body at all. But miracles, it remained obedient to him. It just moved to the rhythm of the music, but it did not want to stop now. Instead of his body, it now seemed to him that he felt all the space around and everything that was in it. As if he was not a boy at all, but a hero and already occupied all the space that shone around him. If, a neighboring boy shot him from a slingshot, he could safely see the stone flying into him and catch it. It was unclear how, but he firmly knew this. Now, he was sure that nothing would stop him. It was a feeling of boundless self-confidence. It is not known how much he would have danced, if his grandfather had not stopped. Little by little the boy stopped too. The sparkling fog dissipated. But there was a feeling that there was some iridescent shell around him. It shone like a soap bubble in the sun. Barely breathless, he and his grandfather laughed gaily, looking at each other. "And before, Alex, the whole world danced to the tune of our pipe!" - cried the old man. "How can you play like this?! I couldn't even stop my legs!!" - shouted the excited boy in reply. "I just play everything! I play from the

SLAVA RODU

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAA

heart!" - grandfather laughed - "Do you like my pipe?" "Of course I like it! You played it, and sadness went away!" - answered the kid. "And so they used to say it in the old days: "You will play and the soul will collapse, and then unravel"!! Much wisdom is hidden in Russia. Probably more than the rest of the world. Look at yourself, your feet went to dance. From what?" "I do not know myself. They just wanted to." - scratched the back of his head Alex. "Your feet?" - his grandfather's eyes narrowed. "I don't know. No, definitely not the feet!" "Did your feet become joyous?" grandfather smiled slyly. "Something inside!" "Exactly! The soul at first became joyful. The fire in it broke out, and then the light from you poured into the world. As if a familiar string was struck within you. Something that you always knew, but that no one ever told you. You merged with the music. The soul began to hover. And the body just followed the soul. So there, Alex. The soul feels everything, better than the body. More vivid, fuller or something. And all that it feels, it absorbs, well, like a sponge. All indiscriminately. There was a person passing by, his mood was bad, he only looked at you, and your mood became bad. A "heavy look" is said about such. And the other one smiled at you, and you smile at him in return. And it became easy for the both of them. Their souls talked. Before, people did not live as close as they do now. Maybe because of it,

the breadth of their soul was more and had more power. "The wide soul of the Russian man - like the Mother Rus herself" - so they say. Or they simply said: "A wide soul man". Such a person can give away his last shirt, in order to help someone. From the fact that he does not live in the body, but in the soul. And the body for him is kind of like a shirt. That shirt repeats your movements after the body. So the body repeats your movements after the soul. Movement always goes from the heart. Such is the reason as to why we are given hands and feet, so we could embody the impulses of the soul in this dense world. Before, everyone in Russia lived through the soul, but now more and more through the body. Maybe because of this, many are afraid to lose it. And it used to happen that in a neighboring village a misfortune happened with the relatives, and a man cannot find a place for himself from a great distance away. The soul feels everything. There are many words in the Russian language that describe the feelings of the soul. You can look for yourself, if you are not too lazy. Not in all languages, such words can be found, by the way. Everything the soul takes in, it saves. From that, the memory is not formed in the head, as it is now understood, but in the soul itself. Well, of course, the soul can also be wounded by rash words, as if by pricks. From this, the word "curse" can also be found among us. The soul can be pricked ... cursed. And the soul, where it feels paid or sorrow, no longer wishes to go. Maybe because of this, the grandmothers-sorceress stuck needles in linen. The body does not seem to feel it, but the soul knows.

SLAVA RODU

15

In a word, you need to listen to it. Just listen. Well, of course, also to hear it. And for this, it is necessary that the body and the head do not interfere. Ask yourself: "What do I feel?" and your soul, itself, will talk to you. And you know and listen, but do not interrupt. Everything is simple! But after all, before, Alex, the dance was not a simple thing in Russia. It also removed pain after labor from the body. The body aches where there is tension. And if there is no tension, and the pain goes away. Some patients were placed back on their feet in such a way. And the soldiers were also taught the wisdom of military science. Well, different rituals were also held in the dance. For example, Horovod. Why do people lead it in the circle, while holding hands? How did our Ancestors call our Sun? The young Sun was called Yarilo, well, the old was called Hors. And so it happens: Hors (the Sun) led (Vod) in a circle ... Hor-o-Vod. Much is hidden in our native culture. Our wisdom is deep, and there are no unnecessary things within it!" And the pipe, the grandfather gave to Alex. Let him play for health, and to the joy of others. A tool in hand is always more useful than on a dusty shelf. And nothing is wasted, when it is given to a loved one. And the hands themselves will remember, how and when, if the soul itself will reach out for something.

URBANO MONTE The Secret Map of the World

The color atlas of the world, created by the cartographer Urbano Monte (years of life 1544-1613) 430 years ago (in 1587), was recently scanned, restored and made publicly available. The ancient map shows the world as it was 430 years ago. Researchers have restored 60 pages of the world atlas of Urbano Monte, in which mysterious creatures such as the unicorn Sibirin, the ambient ship, and awful gigantic birds are represented. The hand-drawn map measuring 10 feet in height and width was created by the little-known cartographer Urbano Monte in 1587. Monte was born into a wealthy family in Milan and, since childhood, was fond of geography. From historical sources it is known that Monte met with the Japanese delegation, which visited Milan in 1585. Therefore, his map provides expanded information about Japan, which was not in other Western maps created at that time. Monte worked on the creation of the atlas for 18 years, after Gerardus Mercator created a map, which is now used in most educational institutions and applications for smartphones. But the Monte map, unless the one of Mercator, depicts the Earth as it is visible from the space directly above the North Pole. Recently, Mercator's projection has been criticized for its Eurocentric image, in which the western and northern regions are larger than they really are. According to collector David Ramsey, who bought an old atlas and donated it to the David Ramsey cartography center at Stanford University, which he founded in 2016, Renaissance cartographers did not like "empty spaces". "I think that Monte really tried to show the circular nature of the Earth," Ramsey said, "It's more than just a map. It is a entire scientific tool." It is interesting that even 430 years ago, Urbano Monte drew everything very correctly and in great detail. And it was created only 80 years after Columbus "discovered" America, which you will agree is a very short amount of time in order to draw up such a detailed map, taking into account new discoveries. After all, in those days there were no satellites or planes, nothing with which to create something like that. And to create such a map 430 years ago, it was necessary to see the Earth precisely from the altitude of the flight of a modern aircraft or from the Earth's orbit. How did the ancient cartographer manage to create such a detailed map that it can now be superimposed onto a modern map and receive an amazing correspondence of the data. It is most interesting that the Earth on this map is depicted not as a sphere, but as a convex disk centered on the North Pole, as depicted on the UN emblem, and around this flat and convex Earth, the Moon and the Sun rotate. This is a mystery, because this map is also very accurate, for its creation, serious data on cartography was required, and its creator clearly knew what our Earth looks like from space, if the

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA A

18

SLAVA RODU

satellite making the photo was exactly above the North Pole. At the same time, the map does not just show the northern hemisphere, but shows the entire Earth with all the continents, including the "ring" of unknown continents, which are not covered in ice. Take a look at the Monte's map, then take a look at the modern depiction of "Flat Earth" that was taken from the internet ... and come to own conclusions. One conclusion can be definitely made by all: We really do not know as much as we tend to think about the structure of our world!

To Adults About Children Part 2

The article of our reader concerns the majority of the theme of the upbringing of children. How distorted is this process today? How to help a child become a real person? In which cases and how to apply the methods "Do as I do" and "Attention shift"?

"Do as I do"

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAA

Part I "The most urgent task is the education of children and youth. In all countries, this issue, on which all the well-being and power of people and the country rests, is now paid very little and, moreover, extremely miserable attention. Usually, it is common to mix education with upbringing, but it's time to understand that school education, as it is done in most cases, not only does not contribute to the moral upbringing of young people, but even vice versa ... The excessive sport interest leads to coarse morals, to mental degeneration and to new diseases. Of course, the situation of home education in the conditions of modern families is no better. Therefore, it is time to pay the most serious attention to the grave and unaccompanied situation of children and youth in the sense of moral development. Many high concepts completely emerged from everyday life and were replaced by everyday formulas of easy achievement of vulgar prosperity and the same fame." (E.I. Roerich, 19.04.38).

22

The time has come for my little grandson to change from potty to the toilet, but even small people quickly develop habits and, often, undesirable stereotypes - the lion's share of them, of course, through the improper actions of parents. In general, my grandson did not want to pee in the toilet, not to mention the more "difficult" needs. He cried and demanded his potty, and if the parents did not agree, he peed in his pants. When the children once again came to visit, my son shared this problem with me. It was solved rather quickly, using the method "Do as I do". When the grandson asked to go pee, I said: "I want to go too. Come with me. I'll show you something ... ". We went to the toilet, and I showed how men and boys do it. The grandson watched with interest, and then, from a purely childish habit of imitation, easily did the same. Everyone was happy, especially, parents. Almost in the same way, we then taught the kitten Manus to go to pee in the sink or in the bathtub (the toilet was not flat). More precisely, there was no need to really teach anything (except for regular encouragement), for the kitten was very curious and intelligent, and all the time watched what we do there in the bathroom. It was directly noticeable that the kitten was watching. Observed, observed and made

conclusions. And it was not the instinct that had now worked, but the mind to some extent. Since then, we have forgotten about the fillers and cat's urine smell. In conclusion: animals and people, even those who are not developed, can easily be taught something by the method of showing "Do as I do". The simplest algorithm for teaching people something states: 1. Tell us what and how to do; 2. Show me how to do it; 3. Let the one you're teaching try without interfering; 4. Observe the actions of the trainee; 5. Praise him for the implementation and provide feedback - do an analysis of the actions in order to affirm the comprehended. At the same time, show errors, but focus more on correct actions, rather than on incorrect ones. So, firstly, for young children, the first item can be skipped. It is better to do it during the show of something, in some cases and at the end it is possible to explain. And in the fifth item, of course, you need to praise the child. Secondly, sometimes the learning problem is not solved on the first attempt and in some cases the parents will have to repeat the algorithm one or two more times ... (memorization should become something like a reflex). Much here depends both on the child (how much he is developed or underdeveloped), and on the parent (how can the parent choose the right words, show patience, finally - how much you, dad and mom, have contact with your child). But in general, children perfectly and willingly

perceive the action "Do as I do" and learn so much faster. For one of the Universal Laws the Law of Education states: "5. People do more not what they are told, but what the talking people do themselves, meaning, what they see. Hence, the best training is an example." And, finally, here is what adults should think about after reading paragraph 5 of the Law of Learning: when you notice some faults in your child that you do not like or which irritate you, and your hand is about to move in for a slap, THINK: is it not your fault, have you not shown it through unconscious, and sometimes through uncontrollable behavior in the family circle? So who needs to be slapped in this case? Another example of learning: a nephew came to visit - a very smart six-yearold. He was delighted with the freedom of will and space, but especially from the heap of tools lying on the bench. Of course, the need to saw and to nail something immediately awoke. But if the hammer is not so terrible (and sometimes it is useful in teaching a lesson of easy pain in order to remember how not to do), then the saw can easily chop off a finger ... Of course, everything can be forbidden, BUT! But that's what is important: the child comes into this world with his program-purpose, his attitudes, his unresolved problems, etc. Since the birth, many parents in their ignorance are trying not to help the child to find his way and get rid of negative qualities, but to disfigure this purpose, suppressing it through own will and adding inextricable complexes and stereotypes to the child. Therefore, we will not forbid, but we will show the child how to saw, drawing his

SLAVA RODU

25

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAA

26

attention to the fact that the teeth of the saw are very sharp (we will show them). We'll show how to hold the board firmly, so that it does not fly off, that it is not necessary to hold your hand close to the saw, so that the jib that has jumped off with sharp teeth does not cut your hand. For example, I deliberately showed on myself how the saw scratches the skin, and said: "See?". Then the nephew sawed a couple of small planks with me (that is, I watched - see the learning algorithm), and we also nailed a pair of nails by using the same method. After which I said to him: "Well done!", showed how he can build a simple boat and ... for an hour and a half or two hours the child was not to be seen ... he was selflessly building. Throughout the day, however, he found more and more tools and brought them to me, asking: "What is this for?". Sometimes we repeated the algorithm with him. It was noticeable that he liked to learn in such a way. And to me, of course, although the most dangerous tools: scythe, axes - I hid until the next lesson. Everything is good in moderation. I also saw another example, when a mother in a somewhat similar situation did exactly the opposite. A young woman was paying for something with a bank card at the ATM and, of course, clicked on such beautiful buttons. Something did not work, but there were no people in line and there was no need to hurry. Her daughter of about four years, of course, was interested and "helped" her mother to press the buttons, respectively, inserting her fingers everywhere she could. Mom forbade it, but the girl persistently continued to help. The mother's business was

not progressing. Mom raised her voice, but her daughter did not listen and continued to press the buttons. Mom then pushed her daughter away - she began to cry ... Let's think - would it not be wiser in such a situation, not to forbid, but, on the contrary, to take the child into her arms, and say: "Let's do it together!" And press buttons ... for example, with the daughter's hand. The child would be definitely happy, and the mother would accomplish her tasks faster, and her nerves would be where they should be - in general, a mutual benefit. "Attention Shift" "Do not humiliate children. Remember that true science is always recruiting, concise, accurate and beautiful. Exorcised are the lies, rudeness and ridicule. It is necessary that in families there is at least a rudiment of understanding of education. After seven years, much has already been lost." There are few more disgusting spectacles than when a hysterical mother hits a crying child in the street (there are many of neurasthenics among young people in the cities). The situation is banal at first sight. The child wanted something or, on the contrary, does not want something - and begins to be capricious. The parent tries to clarify something to him (and often it looks like this: "Why are you shouting, stop fast!" or so: "Stop crying immediately, I told you!"), but the child cries more than before. Finally, the nerves of an adult give, and he uses force, thereby greatly exacerbating the situation in the present, and to the most

irreparable consequences in the future (up to suicides). Someone, maybe, will say: "Nonsense, it's okay, I, too, was stuck as a child, grew up to be normal." But only those will speak, who were struck in their childhood. And as for the normality, the question is very controversial - if people carefully analyze some of their grievances and other negative character traits, where they come from. No wonder many psychologists and psychiatrists, analyzing the causes of various disruptions, conflicts, depressions, personal complexes, etc., often speak of psychological traumas that were received in the childhood. So sometimes they persecute us all of our lives. So, what to do?.. Switch the attention of the child to something more interesting/unusual/unclear, etc. with the help of your phrase, exclamation, behavior, etc. in general, draw the child's attention to something else. Not so long ago in a hospital I saw a young mother passing her baby to her grandmother by the elevator. Apparently, mother had to go to work. The child immediately began to cry (in the elevator), and so loudly that many of the passengers winced, by the grandmother, you see, was experienced. She quickly and with surprise, as if she had never seen herself, she cried softly: "Wow, look, how the buttons light up ... do you want to press one?" Crying seemed to cut off. True, the grandmother had to travel an extra storey to fulfill her promise (to push a button), well, what a grandmother will not do for the heath of a grandchild. I repeatedly applied this method in a variety of situations with children 2-5 years old, and almost always it worked perfectly. I have often seen now the same method was used by

experienced and caring educators in kindergartens. But the method of this has nuances ... Firstly, an adult needs to play a role, well, for example, to show his sincere surprise from the object that he wants to switch the child's attention to. Secondly, you need to somehow organize/provide some kind of contact of the child with the target object (so we'll call it), so that he can touch it, hold it, or watch it. It is necessary that the object-target of the child is enthralled for a while, sufficient for the child to forget the subject of discord. Thirdly, the object-target, I repeat, should not be trivial, but really interesting to the child. The way "Look, look, the bird flew ... Oh, flew ..." or "Oh, look, the car is going ... ", etc. To sense will give a little, most likely, the child will continue to cry after a short switching of attention. Sometimes you will have to sort through a couple of such "images" - anything, but eventually it will work. Fourth, the older the child, the better he begins to distinguish between openness, sincerity, reasonable expediency and our simplest manipulations - and is no longer "being led" on them. In this case, you need to connect other methods, for example: "I love you" (this method is universal), "Choice", "Compromise", "Rationalization", working with the child is more and more like with an adult. This and more about the development of children - we'll talk in the next issues. To be continued ...

Mysteries of Giants from the Urals and Siberia Legends and tales of giants - people of enormous growth, can be found in many ancient peoples and cultures. Stories about giants, claiming to be authentic and told by travelers or chroniclers are encountered much less often and the more valuable these testimonies. According to these records, sometime hundreds of years ago, people of unusually tall height could be met on the territory of the Northern Urals and Siberia. And these were not separate cases of physical anomalies (gigantism), which sometimes occur in our time, as there are reports of entire tribes (!) of Slavic giants. One of the documentary evidence of the Slavic giant belongs to Ahmed ibn Fadlan, who in 921-922 A.D., together with the embassy of the Baghdad caliph, visited the tsar of the Volga Bulgars, having visited the Slavic lands beforehand. The book, written by Ibn Fadlan, is an invaluable source on the history of pre-Christian Rus (Slavic lands), including the Urals, but the fragment of interest that we are intesrested in is usually shyly concealed. And it is told in it no less than about the giants who lived in the vicinity of the Bulgarian capital. The Arabian traveler told of how, while still in Baghdad, he heard from one captive Turk that at the headquarters of the ruler of the Bulgarian kingdom one captive is kept in captivity - "a man of extremely huge physique". When the embassy arrived on the Volga, Ibn Fadlan asked the king to show the giant. Unfortunately, the giant not too long before the visit of the Arab was killed because of his violent and spiteful character. As eyewitnesses have told, from one glance of the gigantic creature children fainted, and pregnant women had miscarriages. The wild giant was caught far away in the North, in the country of Wisu (according to modern istorians, it is a chronicle village located somewhere in the area of Pechora) and was delivered to the capital of Volga Bulgaria. He was kept outside of the city, chained to a huge tree. And there, he was strangled. Ibn Fadlan was shown the remains: "And I saw that his head is like a large barrel, and here his ribs are like the largest of dry fruit branches of palm trees, and in the same way the bones of his shins and both his ulnar bones. I was amazed at this and retired."

Incidentally, there is information relating to the end of the XIX century: when the autopsy of one of the cemeteries in the Volga region (although to the south of the places mentioned by Ibn Fadlan, in the Saratov province), there was found the skeleton of a giant man. If someone thinks that they want to mystify him, then let him get acquainted with another testimony: it can be found in a book with a poetic title "A gift to the minds and a sampling of wonders." It belongs to the pen of another Arab traveler, scholar and theologian Abu Hamid alGarnati. More than a hundred years after Ibn Fadlan, he also visited the capital of the Volga Bulgaria and met there the same kind of giant, but only alive, and even talked with him:

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAA

"And I saw in Bulgar in 530 (1135-1136 A.D.) a tall man from the descendants of the aditas, whose growth is more than seven cubits, named Danki. He took the horse under his arm, as a man takes a small lamb. And his strength was such that he broke with his hand the horse's shank and tore the meat and veins, as others tear greens. And the ruler of Bulgar made him a chainmail, which was carried in a wagon, and a helmet for his head, the size of a cauldron. When there was a battle, he fought with a club of oak, which he held in his hand like a stick, but if he hit an elephant with it, he would kill him. And he was kind, modest; when he met me, he greeted me and greeted me respectfully, although my head did not reach him to the waist, may Allah have mercy on him." Similar information was preserved in Scandinavian sources. They relate to the raids of the Varangians to remote areas of the Slavic North. Here tireless robbers-explorers have repeatedly encountered tribes of giants, and - just as ordinary giants of the male gender, also as tribes consisting exclusively of female individuals (so to speak, Amazons-giants): "When they swam for a while along the shore, they saw that there was a very tall and huge house there. <...> They saw that the temple was very large and built of white gold and precious stones. They saw that the temple was open. It seemed to them that everything inside was shining and sparkling, so that nowhere was there even a shadow. <...> There they saw a table, as befits a king, covered with expensive cloth and [made] with various precious vessels of gold and precious stones. <...> 30 giants were talking at the table, and the priestess was in the center. They [the Vikings] could not understand whether it was in the image of a person or some other creature. It seemed to all of them that it looked worse than it could be expressed in words." After some time, a similar picture was described by the Danish historian-chronicler Saxo Grammatik (1140 - about 1208 A.D.), telling about the voyages of the Viking squad on the White Sea, with the difference that here it was not the temple and the "Amazons", but the cave

where the giants lived. The Slavic North is in fact full of stories about the giants. At the beginning of the XX century, among the Pomors, floating to the New Earth, there was a saying, that in one of the coastal caves there are giant human skulls with bared teeth. Siberian tales of meetings with giants were collected and recorded by the world-famous archeologist, Alexei Pavlovich Okladnikov (1908-1981). Hunter and reindeer herder Nikolai Kurilov from the lower reaches of Lena told him that a man who hunted fox in winter discovered on the coast of the Arctic Ocean huge human footprints that came out of the sea. The hunter decided to find out where the tracks lead to by land. After two days of riding, he saw before him a mountain, towering in the middle of taiga, like an island. There were a lot of tracks here. Suddenly a woman appeared several meters tall. She took Nikolai Kurilov by the hand and led him into the house where the giant man was. He said to the hunter: "It's my own fault that I showed my tracks, otherwise you would not have come here. Go back home, just do not tell anyone about what you saw. And I will help you to return. Do not go out until I have a sled ready. Will leave then." After some time, the giant returned to the house and ordered: "Now come out." There was a continuous fog all around, nothing could be seen. The giant placed the hunter on the sled, blindfolded him and said: "When you reach your land, let the dogs go." The return journey took the hunter only one day and without spending the night. When the hunter opened his eyes, he saw that it was not dogs that were taking him, but two wolves. Behind him, he own dog sled, loaded to the top. Arriving home, the hunter released the wolves, and they immediately disappeared. When he opened the cargo, he saw a mountain of expensive furs. The fact is that the giant asked an uninvited guest: "Why are you wandering alone along the seashore." He replied that this is how he earns a living. That's why the giant gave him so many furs out of pity. Until old age, Nikolai Kurilov did not tell anyone, and only told right before his death. A lot of legends have been preserved about taiga's giants among different Siberian peoples. There is a belief that they take burning sticks out of hunters' fires. These giants differ from ordinary people not only in height, but also in long thick brows or in that they are entirely covered with hair. Therefore their other name is "bearded people". The "bearded" live not one by one, but in whole villages. The shape of the houses is dome-shaped, inside they were illuminated not by furnaces, but by an unknown "glowing stone".

In many legends, the giants' tribe's land is connected with the islands of the Arctic Ocean. In the middle of the XIX century, according to the eyewitness, the following story was recorded. A certain industrialist inspected hunting equipment on the islands near the Kolyma estuary. There he was caught by a blizzard, and he last his way. Long he wandered through the icy desert, and finally the dogs brought him to an unfamiliar village, consisting of several huts. Late in the evening the men of enormous height came from the fishery and began to ask the stranger: who he was, where, on what occasion, and why did he come here, had he heard of them before and, at last, was he not sent by whom? The industrialist who told the whole story, was kept by them under supervision for six weeks, placed in a separate house and not allowed take a single step away. Often he heard the sound of a bell, from which he decided that he was in a schismatic skete (village). Finally, the natives agreed to let the industrialist go, but took an oath of him to keep silent about everything that he had seen and heard. Then they blindfolded him, took him out of the village and walked very far. When parting, a large number of white arctic foxes and red foxes were presented to him. At the same time, the Verkhoyansk police chief informed Bishop Benjamin of Irkutsk that there was an "island of unknown geography" on the Arctic Ocean. It is in good and clear weather from the island of New Siberia to the north-east is seen as a dot. There are inhabitants on this island. They are called "bearded", because, they say, the people are completely overgrown with hair. With them very rarely and on the threat of death have relations the wild Chukchi, who pass on this information under the secret to other Chukchi. Those, in turn, and also secretly, tell about everything to the Russians. The folk tradition states that the bearded men on the islands of the Arctic Ocean had lived a long time ago and that some bishop with his suite was brought here and thrown ashore. As if he had heard the sounds of bells on that island, but the "bearded" did not allow him to enter their dwelling. They trade only on the shore, and they do not let strangers come to their islands. In addition, at the end of the XX century, one Kolyma old man, hearing about Sedov's expedition to the North Pole, said: "Well, it means that people will invariable go to the houses with golden roofs," hinting at the mysterious islanders spoken of by the legends of the Slavs and the indigenous population of the coastal Arctic Ocean. The History of Sobriety of Slavic Women

Drunkenness in Slavic lands was never considered the norm, and women in the old days were not allowed to drink alcohol at all! The Myth of Slavic Drunkenness Historian Buganov reports that "until the X century, the Rush did not know the intoxicating grape wine, only beer was brewed, and kvass and mead prepared. These light drinks were accompanied by feasts and bratchins, brought as treats at feasts, causing the drinkers a gaiety that did not turn into heavy intoxication." Even in the Slavic birch bark letters until the XIII century there is no mention of wine and drunkenness. Only in the XV century in Russia appeared the first public drinking establishments - taverns. But they existed only in large cities, for example: Kiev, Novgorod, Smolensk, Pskov. The tradition of consuming strong spirits came to us from Europe. In the middle of the XVI century, when during the rule of Ivan the Terrible the taverns appeared, where visitors were poured vodka. But in Moscow, for example, the tavern was intended only for oprichniki (state police and personal bodyguards of Ivan the Terrible).

38

The rest were forbidden to drink vodka. Sale of alcohol, too, was limited: it could not be sold during fasts, as well as on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. In the remaining days, the trade in wine was allowed only after the Mass and lasted no more than three hours. In addition, the buyer had the right to purchase only one glass (120 ml) of wine, not more. Even then, drunkenness was not considered socially acceptable, despite the fact that the trade in liquors brought substantial revenues to the treasury. Meanwhile, many foreigners who have visited Russia, note the "drunkenness of the Russians". Thus, the ambassador of the Holstein prince Frederick III, Adam Olearius, in his "Description of the journey to Muscovy and through Muscovy to Persia and back" writes that the Russians "are more committed to drinking than any other people in the world." And this despite the fact that in Western Europe, many men and women daily spent their time in tavern, where they drank cheap liquor without any restriction.

In Russia, at least, vodka and wine were expensive, and not everyone could afford them. It is also worth recalling that almost a hundred years before Olearius another foreign ambassador, Sigismund Gerberstein, does not even mention drunkenness among Russians in his "Notes on Muscovite Affairs". Apparently, after all, we are talking about some kind of subjective observations, for example, related to visiting taverns. "Until the end of the XIX century, vodka and other alcoholic beverages in Russia could only be bought in drinking houses," says ethnographer Opletin in his article "The Myth of Russian Drunkenness". "And only a very narrow stratum of the population was drunk, since alcohol was allowed only in the tavern itself, and it was indecent to go there." The Alcohol Taboo for Women Be that as it may, women were not allowed into Russian taverns. For them, in many cases, the use of alcohol in general was taboo. Even at the wedding, newlyweds could not have consumed alcohol. Why? Because this was followed by a wedding night, and the

40

couple could conceive a child. And what kind of child could come of drunken parents? Our Ancestors were not fools and already knew about the impact of alcohol on genes. Probably, they noticed the effect of ethyl alcohol on the female body. As it is known, the consequences of drinking alcohol for women are much more harmful than for men, even to the loss of childbearing function. Even in the famous medieval "Domostroi" it was said: "A determined wife would never have any drunken drinking: no wine, no mead, no beer, no treats. Drinking would be in the cellar on the ice, and the wife would drink a hopeless brag and kvass - and at home, and in public. If women come from where to cope with health, they also do not give drunken drink ... " The Slavic women were the keepers of the family hearth, the woman kept the whole household, she had to raise children. How would she do this if she was drunk? She would simply lose her role as wife and mother. The Tradition of Sobriety "Wine was drunk only on great holidays," the researcher Charushnikov testified in 1917. "People who liked to

drink were called drunkards in the village. There was no respect for them, they were laughed at." Berdinsky in the book "Peasant civilization in Russia" states: "Many remember that their fathers (women generally did not drink wine) used alcohol truly at homeopathic doses." "In Russia only 100 years ago ... 90% of women and 43% of men were absolute nondrinkers (i.e. they never tasted alcohol in their lives!)," says Optetin. So, based on many sources, we can conclude that even men in the pre-revolutionary Russia (before the JewishBolshevik Revolution of 1917) used alcohol in very moderate quantities, and women did not use it at all - it was forbidden both by law and by tradition." Lessons of Life with Gramps Voron (Raven) Recently, I discovered a book full of wisdom of Life. it was originally written by the elder Andriy Voron. Andriy Voron lived a full life and died at the age of 104. Even though he was an elder, and did die at 104 years of age, he did not die of a natural death. After his death, it was discovered that gramps Voron left quite a legacy. He wrote down the wisdom that he learned throughout his life in order to pass it on to all who are willing to listen. In this segment, I present you witht he wisdom of Gramps Voron. Do not ask small. Ask big. And you will receive more than small. Do not be cunning in order to obtain benefit from everything, but instead try to be useful. The vine, which does not give birth, soon withers. Do not be a jerk and a mockingbird, but be merry. The Divine loves the joyful believers. The efforts of the body must be productive. Then Nature will give you strength. Inveterate athletes only lose their strength, because their efforts are futile, the energy is needlessly wasted. And people working in the field, in the woods, at the construction site are mostly strong to old age. Every work that has been begun always needs to be completed, even if there is no expected result from that work. Who has the will, will be given the fate. Have your point of view regarding everything. Answer "yes" or "no" to all. Always walk forward. Remember that you are always on a journey.

In everything new, even in a disaster, look for something useful and instructive for yourself. And you will always find. As you update yourself every 7-8 years, both in body and in spirit. So do not deny yourself, if fate sends a new business, a new direction. Open your heart to the Spiritual and it will help you in your weaknesses, tell you how to pray, how to act, how to get out of trouble, how to defeat circumstances. Such are the simple advices and words of wisdom of gramps Voron. As with everything, use your own better judgement and look for more advices and words of wisdom from gramps Voron in the next issue of Slava Rodu. The Ability to Survive Hollywood loves stories of survival. When Aron Ralston had to amputate his own arm clamped by a boulder for the sake of saving his life, the filmmakers did not miss the chance to make from this story a spectacular film called "127 hours" (2010) and receive for it several coveted statuettes. However, there are other, no less "Oscar" worthy stories to which Hollywood has not yet reached:

1. Antarctic Hell of Douglas Mawson In the early XX century, the Australian scientist Douglas Mawson organized an expedition to Antarctica. On December 14, 1912, when Mawson and his two colleagues Belgrave Ninnis and Xavier Merits, having collected valuable information for science, were already returning to the base, the misfortune happened: Ninnis fell into a crevice and died. Falling, he took with him sledges with supplies and most of the dogs from the team of travelers. They had approximately 310 miles to home. To get to the base, Mawson and Merits had to walk through a lifeless icy desert, where there was absolutely no place to hide or rest. Food remained for a maximum of a third of the way. When supplies were exhausted, the travelers had to eat own dogs, which meant that the sledges had to be pulled with own strength. In the end, Merits died of cold and exhaustion. Mawson remained alone with an endless Antarctic horror. He was tormented by conjunctivitis and such an eerie frostbite that the skin began to fall off, hair fell out in shreds, and the soles of his feet oozed with blood and pus. But, despite everything, the traveler stubbornly moved forward. At some point, he stepped on a crack under the snow layer, fell into a crevice and hung helplessly over the abyss, while the sleigh somehow stuck tight in the snow on the edge. Even in this seemingly hopeless situation, Mawson did not give up. He began cautiously pulling himself up on a four-meter rope, stopping and resting from time to time until he reached the edge of the crevice. When he got out, he went on his way and finally got to the base ... where he found out that the ship "Aurora", on which he was supposed to get home, departed only five hours ago! He had to wait for the next one for 10 months! 46

2. The story of a marathon runner who was lost in the Sahara The sandy marathon of the Sahara is considered to be one of the most difficult in the world. For this six-day transition of 250 kilometers in length, only the most experienced and hardy dare. The policeman and pentathlon from Sicily, Mauro Prosperi, also decided to test himself. For four days everything went well, Mauro was in seventh place. And then a sand storm arose. According to the rules, in such cases the participants were supposed to stop and wait for help, but the Italian decided that some kind of storm was not a hindrance to him, like he never saw sand! Mauro wrapped his head around with a scarf and continued on his way. After six hours the wind died down, and Prosperi realized that all this time he was going in the wrong direction. He was so far from the rest that even the signal rockets were useless, no one had seen them. Absolutely alone, in the middle of the most extensive and inhospitable desert on the whole Earth. Prosperi had no choice but to continue. To save fluid, he had to pee in his water canteen. Eventually, he reached an abandoned mosque, where a starving marathoner could battle his hunger and thirst by catching bats, tearing the poor animals' heads and drinking their blood. Then, from desperation, Prosperi tried to commit suicide by cutting the veins on his wrists, but from dehydration his blood so thickened that it refused to pour out, so nothing came of it, only a couple of scratches and a headache. And then the marathoner vowed that he would fight for life to the end, although, apparently, death did not want to accept, so there was simply no other option. Over the next five days, Prosperi continued his wanderings through the Sahara, satisfying the hunger with lizards and scorpions, and thirst with dew. And after nine days of ordeals, fate finally took pity on the exhausted Italian, he met a group of nomads who explained that he was in Algeria, more than 200 kilometers from the place where, in theory, he should be. And what do you think? Two years passed and Prosperi signed up for a new marathon, from which he returned unharmed and on time.

3. The story of a man who survived in the Australian desert, feeding on frogs

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAA

The case was in 2001. Someone named Ricky Megi woke up ... in the middle of the Australian desert. He laid face down, sprinkled with dirt, and around ran a pack of dingo dogs, glancing at the man with hungry eyes. All this did not promise anything good. How he managed to get here, Megi did not understand at all. The last thing left in the memory, he was driving his own car, he traveled in a sparsely populated area to the west. Nothing unusual. For ten days Megi walked barefoot, where, the longer he walked, the more senseless this road seemed to him. Finally, he came across a dam, where he made a small hut of twigs and sticks. In this hut he lived the next three months, eating leeches and grasshoppers. Sometimes he managed to catch a frog, it was a delicacy. He dried it in the sun until the frog was covered in crispy crust, and then ate with pleasure. In the end, Megi was found and rescued by farmers. By this point he looked like this:

4. The story of the girl, who was "adopted" by the family of monkeys When Marina Chapman was four years old, she was abducted. The last thing she remembered was how someone grabbed her from behind, blindfolded her, and carried her somewhere. The child woke up in the Colombian jungle. The girl's father was by no means Liam Neeson, so there were no mountains of corpses of terrorists, no wolves with torn mouths, no fascinating chases in this story. As there was no quick rescue of the kidnapped child. Instead, Marina was found by monkeys, who took her into their clan and began to teach her how to get food, climb trees and all kinds of monkey wisdom. Several years passed, and Chapman achieved outstanding success in the art of stealing rice and fruits from the houses of surrounding villages. Locals even noticed in the company of monkeys one suspicious humanoid, but they only threw stones at it, driving the thieves from their homes back into the jungle. If the fate of a girl abandoned by people and brought up by the animals seems terrible to

48

you, take your time. Chapman was saved ... by a human family with clearly sadistic inclinations. These people actually turned the girl into a slave, giving her a bed on the floor near the stove. Fortunately, Chapman managed to escape from her "saviors". She climbed a tree, where she was noticed by a local woman, who called to live with her and raised her as own daughter. Chapman successfully adapted to life in society, moved to England and met a handsome musician. It ended with a wedding.

5. The story of a man who stood in shit for three days The World War II veteran Coolidge Winsett from Virginia was 75 years old, when he got into this literally foulsmelling story. The house of a lonely retiree was old, with amenities in the yard. One day he went out for need, and the rotten boards of the floor gave and fell. Winsett found himself in a cesspool, to the waist in shit, in "Biblical hell," as he himself later called it. He could not get out on his own, as part of his leg was amputated, and one arm did not work after a stroke. So he stayed for three days, in the lake of his own feces, fighting off rats, spiders and snakes, which, as it turned out, were frequent guests there. Eventually, the local postman noticed that no one was taking out the mail, he was worried and decided to visit the old man. Passing through the courtyard, he heard weak cries for help and called rescuers.

7 Myths about Radiation Is it true that iodine protects against radiation contamination? Are our homes radioactive? Is it necessary to drink red wine after an X-ray or to eat an apple? How dangerous to health are x-rays and fluorography? And how effective are lead bunkers against radiation?

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAA

We are irradiated by enterprises and nuclear power plants Partly true. "The contribution of man-made sources to the total irradiation received every year by a Russian is 0.02-0.04%," says Grigory Gorsky, head of the radiation safety surveillance department of St. Petersburg Rospotrebnadzor. "The current system ensures constant levels of public exposure, including when new facilities are commissioned. It's all about the culture of radiation safety: enterprises themselves make sure to work within guidelines, and supervisory agencies monitor their implementation." X-ray and fluorography do more harm than good Myth. 15% of the total dose of irradiation citizens of Russia receive during medical X-rays and fluorography. Norms for the levels of medical exposure do not exist, the norm of 1 MilliSievert per year cannot be exceeded only in the case of fluorography. After all, if a person, for example, is in the process of healing teeth or a broken leg, the x-ray is done to him as many times as is necessary in terms of treatment tactics. And the benefit of such treatment exceeds the damage from irradiation. After radiography, you must drink red wine or eat an apple Myth, and an absolute one. Neither the apple nor the wine is capable of reducing the radiation impact. It is much more useful to quit smoking, and not to ruin your own health and exercise, in order to reduce trips to the hospitals, including with the purpose of undergoing radiography. We live in a radioactive environment It's true. 85% of the radiation dose received annually by us refers to so-called natural radiation. Part of it comes to us from outer space. But the biggest dose awaits us in our homes, because the materials from which they are made: sand, concrete and crushed stone - contain natural radionuclides. In this connection, in accordance with the legislation, building materials are distributed according to special classes of radioactivity. For the construction of residential houses, only the first class of radioactivity should be used, the second for industrial buildings

50

SLAVA RODU

and roads within the city, the third, the most radioactive, for the construction of roads outside the city. Before putting the house into operation, a special check is carried out to find out which material class was involved in the construction. We advise you to take a closer loot at this test, if you buy an apartment in a new building, and if possible, order an independent examination. Household appliances in our apartments radiate This is, rather, a myth. Typically "radiate" in our homes can only radioactive wrist or desk watches and clocks, issued by Soviet enterprises in the late 1960s. When they were fabricated, radioactive paints of constant action based on radium were used. If your house has such a clock, we advice you to take them to special points of reception of hazardous waste. There it is also necessary to include radioactive compasses, manometers or scales from Soviet tanks and other devices, which before 1970 it was customary to apply radioactive paints.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAA

Lead walls protect from radiation Only partially true. First of all, it should be said that there are several types of radiation, each of which is associated with different types of radioactive particles. So, alpha radiation can be stopped by your everyday clothes and glasses. To protect from beta radiation, aluminum foil is sufficient. But from gamma radiation it is very difficult to be protected. In whatever protective suit you dress, if you are in the area of the source of gamma radiation, you will receive your dose of radiation. It is from this type of radiation that people try to escape in lead cellars and bunkers. However, with the same thickness of the layer, a layer of concrete or pressed soil is just as effective in combating the influence of gamma radiation. Lead is a dense material, which is why it was used in the middle of the last century as a radiation shield. But lead is also toxic material, so today a thicker later of concrete is used for the same purpose. Iodine protects against radiation exposure Myth. Iodine alone, as well as its compounds, cannot withstand radiation. However, doctors recommend that the population take it after anthropogenic disasters. Why? The fact is that radioactive iodine-131, after impacting the environment, rapidly accumulates in the human body, more precisely in the thyroid gland, sharply increasing the rest of development of oncoand other diseases of this organ. When the thyroid gland is "filled" with another, safe for our body, iodine, there is simply no room for radioactive iodine. But if there is no threat of iodine-131 entering the environment, iodine should not be taken liberally, because its high doses can cause irreparable harm to the thyroid gland.
