Private Villa. Rimini, Italy

The intervention falls within the Municipality of Morciano di R. (RN) in an area destined to a progressive predominantly residential urbanization, with related activities, identified as urban mending with the city center, part of a new Masterplan and e General Urban Plan to a residential area on the hill with a panoramic view of the Riviera Adriatica Coast. The intention was to build with particular attention to the constructive elements, decorative, finishes and colors, given the particular characteristics of the housing development, aimed at respecting the surrounding area, so as to create the least possible impact on nature.

It represents, with its design, a good example of sustainable building, developing the shapes and volumes typical of rural estates of early Twentieth century of the region, re-enterpreting them in a contemporary style. The building organization is arranged along an EastWest orientation axis with the day spaces oriented to the south. The geometry of the structure is irregular, with an H shape, and can be inscribed in a rectangle with dimensions equal to 18x16m. The building intervention consists of a basement used as a garage, laundry and service room. A ground floor with entrance hall, living room, kitchen, utility room, 3 bathrooms and 3 masterbedrooms. The first floor is accessable from the open staircases, consisting of a living space that overlooks the living room below, an accessory room used as a storage area - kids playground room , a technical service wall/wardrobe and an additional bathroom and a big terrace, two livable attics complete the building.

Private Villa. Gabicce, Italy

International style villa designed following the bioarchitecture principle. The design is measured by the rotation of the sun and the bio climate, such as to make the building energy self-sufficient. It is divided into three levels: the welfare plan, in the basement, the living area at the ground floor, and the sleeping area on the top. It has two swimming pools, one indoor and the other directly in the garden. Light is the key to the property, and the sun illuminates the different environments compared to its destination.

Private Villa + Shops. Barhain

This to answer to the request of a building of private villa + stores on the street. The volume takes the form of this demand by developing a wall as a division between publicshop- and private-villa. Staircase set on this the wall also leads to entry into the private villa and inside divides the space into a double height living room with. Contextualization in place have been extensively investigated by inserting typical elements of Arab vernacular architecture, such as the double height mashrabia in the living room, natural ventilation and to keep a warm constant temperature, whose form it was also taken up in the ornaments of the parapets.

Marco Simoncelli Memorial. Coriano, Italy

The monument to Marco Simoncelli is a space for the many fans to leave a memory, a flower and maybe take a picture; but it is also a space for children, teens, adults and seniors of Coriano to stop and sit in the shade, to think, to speak and to look at what is around them. It was an important opportunity for the redevelopment a small part of the historical city center, to reactivate a space otherwise used as a passage. The monument is located along the city avenue Giuseppe Garibaldi, in a small lawn sloping to the left of the stairs leading to the church, opposite the Cultural Palace, in which there is the museum dedicated to Marco. Designed as an open space along the footpath, the idea was to create a place to stop, where the monument appears as a small square under the trees, directly accessible from the pedestrianized path. A simple sitting, conceived as a continuous and fluid element, reminiscent of a racing track curve, invites passers-by to come in and to look out in this new corner of the town; while closing the composition and bringing attention to the center where three square blocks of different heights are inserted, similar to a racing podium. The highest podium houses the inscription to the champion, made in collaboration with the artist Aldo Drudi. This monument is not only a simple tribute to a great of the sport, but a heartfelt celebration and memorial to a fellow citizen, Marco

Brique de bois. Elementary School, Switzerland

The project was based on the fundamental principle: “school is a factor to achieve socially integrated.” The project proposes a series of simple volume recalling the basic geometric shapes that kids know, Brique de Bois (Brick Wood). This game is the concept of the project.

The vitality of the intervention is characterized by a rotation of volumes at the corners. The residue thus serve to areas for specific functions. Sometimes the choice of maintaining green spaces for recreation and outdoor sports in school and enrolled on a sweet in its context.

“Brique de Bois” allows a correct relationship, a report to the extent of the child. Cubes are arranged in the sites gave way to rhythm and dynamics. The landscape offers by this region is fabulous: the mountains that make neck-crown, the roofs of buildings in the town, the lush green views.

Circulations superimposed mark the position of the stairs and is presenting a series of distances traveled in successive discoveries. The project includes a main entrance, a secondary and a direct connection to the gym.

The combination of these suggestions were brought to sculpt the massing of the project that will integrate with the context, as free as possible and at the same time re exalt the characteristics of the place. There is a desire to create volumes that each have its own independent identity and use.

The intervention is on two levels, classrooms, halls and handicrafts infant classes are oriented south, special rooms and hallway distribution are oriented north and spaces benefit from ideal conditions, without penetrating light or reflections.

CONCOURS D’ARCHITECTURE POUR LA CONSTRUCTION DU CENTRE SCOLAIRE B

Residential building complex “City Sports. Rimini, Italy

The urban redevelopment proposal concerns popular houses built at the end of the 20s of the last century. The houses have long failed to meet the living standards in terms of safety, living comfort and consist of obsolete structures lacking elevators and heating. They also represent an inconsistent building with the remaining urban fabric of the area. The proposed project provides for the rearrangement of the entire area, creating new residential, commercial and office buildings with integral urban redevelopment. The new buildings are placed coherently on the front of the two-storey terraced houses of Via Balilla, maintaining an equivalent profile on the low twostory street front, to conform to the most appropriate aspect, which is that of a local village street . A third floor rises in a secluded way, retreating with a terrace from the street front. On the front side of the stadium the facade is taller and more compact and the dwellings, equipped with large balconies, are acoustically protected by a soundproofed glass window. This allows dwellers to enjoy the light and the outside air, without suffering the noise pollution generated by the sports activities of the neighboring sports area. The glazed facade facing the stadium is characterized by silkscreen posters of sports images, perceivable only from the outside, separated from the street by a water path, to delimit private property and to protect against vandalism.

The path of water, present both externally and in the central green area, represents an element of landscape / sensorial quality and technical element of rainwater accumulation for rolling and irrigation. Towards the inside the building volumes open up onto terraces on a common green courtyard. An urban hinge between the low housing front on Via Balilla and the more compact one on Via Arnaldo da Brescia stands a residential and tertiary tower, which overlooks an urban square with adequate flooring, adjacent to the corner of the stadium perimeter. The building has that compactness necessary to recreate a quality urban environment, on a human scale. As in the alleys of an historical center, suddenly at the most strategic points there are openings between buildings, sometimes wide, other times reduced to simple underpass portals, which connect the building in the two main directions and with the rest of the city. Below the tower building in the corner on the stadium side there is the entrance to the underground garages, which occupy the entire perimeter area under the buildings. The whole building is made with wooden structures and enclosures, with very high energy efficiency, low environmental impact in the life cycle and reduced execution times. The roofs have an intensive green roof to compensate for the waterproofing of the soil with many benefits: capture of fine dust, improvement of the microclimate and delayed release of rainwater.

Sustainable Microarchitecture. Bird-watching hut L.I.P.U.

The project includes a prototype of about 18 sqm of easy assembly modular upon tall trees, as proposed in the competition organized by L.I.P.U. in 2006. A careful study on the resistance of trees loaded by the structure was made, slip in wet or dry soil, bending or cutting crown of the tree and evaluating the strength of the wind, against horizontal and vertical structure simulations. The module takes up the shape of a bird’s nest, from which it draws inspiration. It is also strongly attracted to the architecture of many primitive tribes of Central and South America as well as Papua New Guinea or some nomadic Mongol tribes. It is built entirely of biocompatible materials such as stalks of bamboo for the frame, a material highly resistant to compression and bending, pre-compressed straw as insulation, bamboo leaf cut to contain the insulation.

The building is supported to the trunk of the tree through a particular structure. The coverage and the facade circulated to “nest” are made integral to the platform by means of rings in which is passed the frame made from bamboo trunks, “drowned” in the compressed straw. It has also provided a heating system with high efficiency solar vacuum tube for winter bird-watching sessions, though very rare. This prototype has made it possible to construct many platforms how the diameter of the trunk of the tree allows. This bolting system resist to shear and compression, but not jeopardize the vital functions of the tree since penetrates no more than 14 cm in the cortex, which in a short course reabsorbs the “wound” supplementing it. Bolts are welded to the brackets to the beams, which finally support the platform.
