Dear DMS Members, Digitalisation is bringing convergence of technologies and more crossover of offerings between equipment manufacturers and control system vendors. Digitalisation has at the route of it condition monitoring and asset management software which sits at the system/enterprise level where the control system vendors rule. The “digitalisation bandwagon is gathering momentum due to the promise of greater efficiency and cost reduction. Indeed, digitalisation offers a great outlook with a PriceWaterCoopers study showing that German companies see an average annual growth of 2.5 percent thanks to digitalisation and networking of their product and service portfolios. Furthermore, efficiency was improved by an average of 3.3 percent per year and cost savings of 2.6 percent. By 2020, the study claims that over 80 percent of the value chain will show a high degree of digitalisation. It is no wonder then that most equipment manufacturers today see this as a great way to offer value to boost margins. Valves are no different with many valve manufacturers offering condition monitoring or asset management software to provide the benefit. I see a problem here in so far as many of these softwares are proprietary meaning that they are stand-alone softwares that require you to use different applications for each manufacturer rather than just one asset management application. This is where my earlier statement should be considered since most asset management applications reside with the DCS with the ability to extract data from all devices connected to the plant whether mechanical or electrical. In terms of valve applications there are instances where the efficiency of the valve relies on the motor driving the pump with variable speed drives used. Indeed wear of the valve can be eased by using such set-ups but it would surely be better to couple the 2 together digitally to balance the load to decrease the wear. Both motor and valve (and possibly pump) manufacturers will offer this but where does this responsibility really lie? Better to use data analytics offline to provide the necessary adjustments since the best configurations will result from all connected process factors. Thus it would be better to consider how the condition data available at the valve, pump or motor is connected to the asset management application where condition monitoring analytics of all process equipment is combined with process analytics to provide optimal operational configurations and settings. Should we therefore be looking to use technologies like those available within FieldComm combined with OPC UA to provide seamless integration of all equipment and process condition data to better drive increased efficiency and cost reductions? Kind Regards,

Kind Regards,

Mohammed Loch President and CEO DMS Global

DMS ANALYTICS

UAE Suggests Positive Oil and Gas Outlook The recent downturn has encouraged the UAE to direct focus on efficiency when undertaking business in the oil and gas field. During a difficult time, the nation made a conscious decision to see the downturn as a way in which a challenge can be taken on and the best possible solution can be derived. Effectively as an example, ADNOC’s decision to merge all of its group of companies into one entity and focus on a more modern approach to business are contributors to a more solid future. Cost cutting and focusing on digital aspects of the business as well have been contributors to a more promising future. Furthermore, with the 2018 focus on diversification through opening up to more foreign investment by awarding concessions to international companies and carrying out a first licensing round, UAE has shown a great deal of flexibility in where such attitude in the current fast pace environment is highly necessary. Moreover, a significant amount of investment has been directed towards the refining sector and the importance of gas strategy has been pushed further.

The year 2019 will continue with project growth, execution, and further investment. Innovation is going to be the focus throughout the year. In particular, digital innovation, digital twins within oil infrastructure, artificial intelligence, and machine learning are all exciting new opportunities where the UAE’s oil and gas sector can benefit. On the projects side, 2019 is expecting further contracts to be awarded, new developments to be initiated and current projects to progress further. The new refinery in Ruwais as an example is currently undertaking pre FEED through Wood Group who have recently been awarded this contract. Moreover, Al Yasat Petroleum is expecting to award the contract to develop the Belbazem field which will be undertaken in 3 units. From the gas side of things, NMDC has been awarded by ADNOC Sour Gas the contract to carry out reclamation, dredging and marine works for the Ghasha concession for a contract value of $1.36 billion. The works will be carried out for 38 months.

Petrochemical Focus It is expected that the petrochemical sector in the UAE will be the major cause in the oil demand. With global trends focusing more on petrochemicals and innovative approaches to plastics being necessary, the petrochemical sector is becoming a crucial part of the oil industry. The year 2019 will expect further growth in this sector and it will continue this way towards becoming a sole leader in pushing the oil demand further. ADNOC & Borealis Borouge 4 Complex, for example, will be integrated with ADNOC Refinery. The project shall encompass a world-scale, mixed feedstock cracker which will use existing feedstock available in Abu Dhabi and downstream derivatives units for both polyolefin and non-polyolefin products. Currently, this development is undergoing FEED contract competition by a number of international companies bidding for the contract award. This contract is expected to be awarded shortly and 3 international front runners have been identified.

| March 2019

Furthermore, ADNOC & Borealis are also currently undertaking Polypropylene PP Plant project which is currently in the engineering stage through Marie Technimont. This plant will be integrated with the existing Borouge 3 complex and will add value to the surplus propylene available from Takreer’s new Propane Dehydrogenation (PDH) unit. Borouge’s Ruwais Pelletizing Plant project which involves adding additional bagging lines is underbid evaluation process for the main contract to build. The project includes installation of 2 bagging lines to extend an existing facility at a pelletizing plant. Currently, the plant’s production capacity stands at 4.5 million tons a-year, which includes, 2,300,000 tons of polyethylene a-year, 1,760,000 tons of polypropylene a-year, 350,000 tons of low-density polyethylene a-year, supporting a cross-linkable polyethylene (XLPE) compounding facility.

Industry Lessons Learnt: Valve Failures

Avoiding Relief Valve Chatter on LNG Pressure Storage Tanks Dr. Michael Davies, Dr. Davide Moncalvo, Dr. Thomas Heidermann Braunschweiger Flammenfilter GmbH (PROTEGO)

1. INTRODUCTION Design of pressure relieving systems for cryogenic storage tanks can be complex and challenging to safely provide one of the last barrier of safety defense (Fig. 1). Pilot-operated pressure relief valves on LNG low-pressure storage tanks are commonly expected to operate as stable as their high-pressure counterparts. Operators deciding to install pilot-operated pressure relief valves rely on stability and low leak rates close to set pressure to explain their preference for this class of devices over spring-loaded valves. Pilot valves require machining of almost capillary ducts and small annular lateral regions to function properly. In order to avoid blockage of the pilot, gaseous flow through the pilot-operated relief valves should be ideally particulate, soot and droplet-free. Though good engineering practice on the correct application of pilot-operated devices are available for instance in (API-520, 2013) , this paper describes the working principle of pilot-operated valves at first, then analyses the several types of instability associated to bad design. Finally, the authors present our results with a dampening system as a good solution to prevent instability.

valve is placed on top of the storage tank. As long as the pressure in the tank remains below the set pressure of the valve, the valve nozzle, e.g. the duct from the inlet flange to the seat, the sensing line and the volume above the membrane are at the same pressure as the tank and due to the size ratio of membrane area to main valve pallet the valve remains closed. When the pressure in the tank exceeds the set pressure of the valve, the pilot opens and the vapours, flowing out of the dome volume above the membrane, do not exert enough pressure to keep the pallet on the seat and the valve opens.

Figure 2: Example of pilot-operated pressure relief device mounted on a cryogenic tank

Figure 1: Example of a pressure relieving strategy of a LNG storage tank

2. PILOT- OPERATED VALVE TECHNOLOGY Pilot-operated relief valves are commonly installed on top of LNG storage tanks as a first relieving stage to a flare and a last line of defence, as shown in Fig. 2. A pilot-operated relief device consists of a main valve, enclosing a floating unbalanced piston and an external pilot. The pilot is typically a smaller scale spring loaded device connected with the main valve, both at the entrance and at discharge, Fig. 3. In that valve a membrane is placed between the top cap and the valve body connecting them with the piston. The role of the membrane in understanding the opening and reclosing of the pilot-operated device is crucial. For the sake of easiness, the following description assumes that the 24 Valve

Figure 3: Axial cut of a low-pressure membrane pilot-operated valve For tank pressures above 15 psig or 1.034 bar-g, where (API-520, 2013) applies, the advantages and limitations of pilot-operated safety valves are described in detail. Pilot-operated safety and relief valves find wide usage in LNG and other cryogenic applications though non-metallic parts like gaskets, which may break or deform at low temperatures, may deserve proper specification

Industry Lessons Learnt: Valve Failures with reference to the application. From the general analysis it seems that pilot-operated safety and relief valves are expected to be stable. However, the pilot-operated relief valve in Fig. 2 is installed on a cryogenic storage tank with some outlet piping when it was instead planned to be sized for atmospheric release. There are other examples in which flame arresters where installed in the discharge line but these were not considered during the sizing process. Both of these types of design flaws lead to potential valve instability and the necessary relieving mass flow may not be reached. In other cases pilot-operated valves may be located far from the cryogenic tank they protect and where they were supposed to sit. Given that the relieving pressure of the valve is closely adjusted with the tank design pressure, neglecting the inline pressure losses may have a dramatic effect on the tank safety and severe instability may occur. In the following chapter a more detailed analysis on relief valve instability will be given as well as some suggestion on how to minimize the risks.

3. SAFETY AND RELIEF VALVE INSTABILITY A safety relief valve, especially if spring loaded, is always subject to some vibration of its moving parts due to flow induced fluctuations in the pressure level up- and downstream. In this paragraph attention is focused especially on those sorts of instability, where the main valve frequently opens and reseats but full lift is never reached. This may lead to catastrophic consequences when the relieving mass rate is by far not achieved. The least dangerous level of instability is the so called “cycling” and it typically occurs, when the required flow rate is a fraction of the capacity of the fully-opened device. When the pressure in the storage tank reaches the set pressure of the valve, the device begins to open however relief flow does not large enough to maintain the valve open and it tends to reclose. In a pilot-operated valve subjected to cycling, the moving parts fluctuate between partially opened positions: if pressure transmitters or mass flow rate sensors are installed the signals would be inconstant but non zero. If the disk occasionally recloses, pressure in the protected storage tank increases again until the valve reopens. As for all oscillatory phenomena safety and relief valve cycling has a low frequency of the order of magnitude of one cycle per second. A second level of instability is the so called “fluttering”: in a fluttering valve the moving parts oscillate abnormally rapidly with a frequency of the order of magnitude of their natural frequency. Rapid wear of the moving parts and the eventuality of a non-reclosing valve when the moving parts get stuck are common failures for fluttering valves. In the worst case scenario of a fluttering valve, where the moving parts hit the seat, the valve is said to chatter. The primary concern for chattering is the loss of product, for instance due to

loosening of flanges; as well as seat damage or adhesive wear and bellows rupture. There are examples in which chattering destroyed the valve pallet completely. For LNG applications this results in constant loss of product until the valve is repaired or the relief path is isolated. In (API-520, 2013) spring loaded safety and relief as well as pop-action pilot valves are expected to experience chatter more likely than modulating pilot-operated valves. Safety valve instability is a result of the wave dynamics in the pipeline up- and downstream the valve. For the inlet pipe (API-520, 2013) requires that the irreversible pressure loss between the protected equipment and the valve should not exceed three percent of the set pressure of the valve. For pilot-operated pressure relief valves, if the irreversible pressure loss exceeds the three percent threshold, there is the possibility of a remote pressure sensing, which means connecting the sensing line direct to the pressurized item. According to that standard remote sensing may help to eliminate or minimize uncontrolled valve chattering in a pop action pilot-operated pressure-relief valve and will permit a modulating pilot-operated pressure-relief valve to achieve full lift at the required overpressure. In case that the outlet line of pilot-operated relief devices operating in a condition when the superimposed back pressure exceeds the inlet pressure of the fully-open valve, the main valve may open allowing reverse flow through the main valve. The concept of the three percent inline pressure drop as necessary and sufficient to avoid valve instability has been analysed and criticized, though no clear direction can be found if to reject it or how to improve it (Dannenmaier et al., 2016). For instance, (Smith et al., 2011) concluded on the base of an investigation of a sample refinery that some safety relief valves may operate stable even if the 3% rule is violated. On the other side (Hös, et al., 2014) concluded that the 3% criterion is not always conservative and others like (Kastor, 1986) criticized that chatter was observed at installations with pressure losses less than 3%, while on other configurations with larger pressure losses it could not be observed. Several authors seem to convene that the 3% pressure loss criterion may be an oversimplified view of the complex valve behaviour and that high frequency acoustically induced vibrations (AIV) between the safety valve at high relieving pressures and the downstream pipeline at a far lower pressure level lead to safety valve instability and piping damage (Carucci & Mueller, 1982). A study of the British Health and Safety Executive (HSE, 2003) refer to AIV as the source for at least 20% of the hydrocarbon releases in the North Sea. One other cause for chatter both in pilot-operated valves is excessive oversizing of the device. A slightly oversizing of the relief devices is desired for safety reasons. In a largely oversized device, the released mass flow rate is not sufficient so that full lift of the valve pallet is reached. The valve is not permanently open during Valve

Industry Lessons Learnt: Valve Failures the relieving scenario. A typical example of that was found during start-up of a LNG tank. During this start up a so called nitrogen evaporation procedure was applied. Relatively small amounts of Nitrogen were evaporated inside of the storage tank so that the pressure increased to the set pressure of the pilot valve. This valve was sized for roll over and heavily oversized for the start up procedure. This resulted in an unstable behaviour of the pilot operated relief valve. Through rigorous testing we developed a dampening system that prevented the valve from acting unstable during such start up procedure. In addition to all the above mentioned reason that can lead to valve instability also insufficiently tested valves can react unstable during a relief scenario. Unfortunately current test standards do not call for tests that assure that these rather complex pressure relief devices truly function under all conditions they may be exposed to. Figure 4 top and bottom shows an example of a valve that is tested for very low temperatures.

4. CONCLUSIONS Even when we are convinced about the validity of a safety review, an additional stability level in the pilot-operated valve encounters broader acceptance among users. (Davies & Heidermann, 2016) demonstrated that the insertion of a dampening system on the spindle smoothens the oscillations of the moving parts preventing highly dangerous chattering. Applying such a dampening system can be extremely efficient to avoid unstable valve behaviour due to oversizing. Currently available test standards do not cover the impact of extreme weather conditions. Cold and hot climate can impact the reliability of the pilot operated relief valve and lead to valve instability during the relieving case. Additional testing, beyond the requirements of national and international standards, is required to assure pilot valve function. Always be aware of the weather conditions you expose the valve to. Flow test facilities need sufficient capacity for testing. Determining set pressure on small test rigs can be dangerous.

5. REFERENCES

Figure 4: Low Temperature testing for a pilot operated pressure relief valve The top figure shows a modified test that encloses the entire valve including the pilot section of the valve. The goal of this test is to assure that the valve will function in all weather conditions it is exposed to. The figure on the bottom shows testing that is demanded by an international test standard. This test will not assure that the valve will truly function when exposed to very cold climates. Only if the valve is tested for all conditions it can be exposed to one can assure safe operation and avoid potential instability during the relieving process. To fully understand pilot valve behaviour it is important to test these valves on a test facility which has sufficient capacity for testing and provides realistic test results.

Smart Valves and Optimized Selection

Control Valves and Energy Dissipation in High Rangeability Application Never heard about energy losses talking about control valves? This is the opportunity to deepen this topic, that is strictly related to industrial plants design, environmental awareness and energy saving approach. Control valves are often a mandatory (and useful) device in numerous applications, be it in power plants, sugar mills or oil refineries, but we normally don’t pay too much attention at the existing relations in terms of energy, linked to the valve selection. There are two main areas related to energy classification and control valves: 1) Kinetic energy (KE) - or power loss requirements - to select or design the most suitable trim and valve size with the goal of minimizing noise, cavitation, erosion and so on… This is about performance and reliability of the system. 2) Energy losses due to improper trim or size selection that generates excessive power consumption and unexpected operating costs The starting point is the basic definition of a control valve: “A power operated device which changes the fluid flow rate in a process control system”. It means that the mass flow rate is the real variable to perform level control, temperature control or pressure control in a process plant. So, in most cases, the control valve generates or works under a differential pressure, the so-called pressure-drop. According to Bernoulli law the higher is the pressure drop in the vena contract the higher is the velocity across an orifice: by staging the pressure-drop in multiple steps and/or turns and dividing the flow in multiple paths we can reduce the kinetic energy term across the valve (remember that kinetic energy goes with the second power of velocity). The so-called velocity control trims are well explained by ISA and explained according to the KE index; the lower is the KE index the higher is the velocity controllability thus noise reduction, less vibrations, higher reliability. The purpose of this abstract is to explore the dark side of a control valve sizing: energy dissipation in high rangeability application. Normally, high pressure drops are required at the startup of a plant to easily run a pump station or progressively pressurize a pipe line. During this demanding phase the control valve is asked to control the flow rate at a very small opening such as 15-25% of the stroke. This is the case when cavitation is expected, and a low recovery trim is required (refer to “FL”1) definition) because of the high differential pressure across the valve

28 Valve

| March 2019

itself. Once the working condition is reached the control valve typically operates between 50 and 70% of its stroke because of the higher flow rate demand. To do this the pressure drop is now reduced to a few bars or even less, depending on process conditions and valve installation. As per a hydraulic machine the Power is defined as P = Density * g * Differential Head * Volume Flow Rate Power is calculated in Watts where/when g is the gravity constant (9.81m/s2), Density is in kg/m3, the Differential Head is in meters and the Volume Flow Rate is in m3/s. Let’s make a simple example with water to get to the point: a control valve NPS 6” installed on a District Heating Storage tank or in a reverse osmosis package working @ 60% of the travel is handling 200m3/h with a pressure drop of 2bar @70°C is dissipating P = 977kg/m3 * 9.81m/s2 * 20.4m * 0.0555m3/s = 10.85kW. Considering an average efficiency of pumps or associated turbomachines of 0.75, in one-year operation we are talking about 124MWh of lost energy! The calculation is the follow: P/efficiency*8600h. This energy value also means: 11k€/year (considering 9€cent/kWh) or 35100kg of CO2. With just one valve! Valpres, a leading manufacturer of Floating and Trunnion Control Ball Valves and ON-OFF actuated valves, has developed and patented its unique VP1 trim for general, severe service and high demanding control valve applications. Based on intensive experimental test and Computational Analysis (CFD) Valpres has developed its own sizing software “Valpsize” The use of “Valpsize” can help the process team to select the right type of valve, trim and size predicting flow velocity, noise and cavitation. At the same time energy saving is possible by reducing the pressure drop across the valve, selecting a properly sized pump or machine. Pump selection must take into consideration (apart of the fluid type, temperature, installation basis, and so on) the pressure losses across the plant: the difference between the piping layout back pressure and the pump’s head at the operating condition is, more or less, the pressure drop across the control valve to regulate the fluid. The higher is the rangeability* of the control valve the lower will be the oversizing of the pump, achieving a saving in terms of energy consumption and piping related costs. (* high rangeability is required to have: high FL1) to control the start-up without cavitation, very high capaci-

The single line design with Valpres control valve allows to save 82kW of power dissipation than means 705MWh per year of energy saving (199500kg of CO2) together with a smarter layout in terms of piping, manual valves, instrumentation and control, with a clear benefit in terms of environmental emissions of carbon dioxide! Notes and Definitions 1) FL is the pressure recovery factor; the closer to 1 is the factor, the lower is the pressure recovery downstream an orifice or a control valve; so-called “Low-Recovery Valves” are devices with special multi-stage and multipath (or multi-turn) trim which controls expansion and/or velocity of the fluid in each pressure stage avoiding or limiting cavitation and noise emission. Extract and cit. ISA Control Valves, Practical Guides for Measurements and Control (Guy Borden, Jr., Paul G. Trim Design & New Technologies

Redundant Control Systems (RCS) Redundancy refers to the duplication of critical or weaker component / function in a system to overcome sudden, undesirable failure or shutdown(s). Redundant Control Systems (RCS) has been in Rotex product integration for a very long period is an effective solution for reliable redundancy in process systems. Where a higher level of reliability and safety and/or continuous availability is called for, RCS is the best and proven option. Many functions/sub-functions incorporated in a process industry calls for such higher reliable SIS (safety instrumented systems) for which Rotex Automation Limited provides RCS delivering uninterrupted process reliable solutions. For example in the case of emergency shutdown systems or more precisely in the case of emergency shutdown pneumatic process valve which is very common and critical in any process industry, the solenoid valve delivering the pneumatic source is considered as the critical component within the complete chain . To strengthen this critical component (Solenoid valves) - Rotex provides RCS with a variety of options, i.e. modular in nature and to suit the specific requirements of the customer. The versatility in Rotex RCS provides the key to reliable performance, process safety, and/or continuous availability along with more precise physical position feedback module, valve manifold, by-pass / isolation module, local controls, on-line maintenance, and much more. Rotex RCS used in SIL 3 applications significantly reduces unsolicited, spurious trips. Rotex offers double modular redundancy and triple modular redundancy, viz. 1oo2, 2oo2, 2oo3 voting configurations.

Types of Redundancy Redundancy can be achieved by logics, while it is the

32 Valve

| March 2019

end user who decides the apt logic that is required. For instance in common parlance, it could be Standby Redundancy (Cold/Hot), Modular or Parallel Redundancy. However specific to Process industry, Redundancy could be of following Types: 1oo2 redundant system. These are referred as reliability with safety instrumented. This system has two solenoid valves and tripping of one SOV would trip the Main application/Process valve .This system is typically required in Critical Control systems, where non failure to trip the critical Process valve leads to catastrophic consequences. These are Double Modular Redundant in nature. 2oo2 redundant system. These are referred to as reliability with availability instrumented. This system has two solenoid valves and tripping of one SOV would not trip the main application/process valve, thereby availability function is highly increased. This system is typically required where failure / trip of one element (SOV) does not result in undesirable or spurious trips in the main application/process valve. These are Double Modular Redundant in nature. 2oo3 redundant system. This system combines the strengths of both the above, and thereby increasing the reliability of both safety and availability functions. This system is hence referred to as Triple Redundancy systems. This system is typically required in Critical as well as Emergency Shut Down Systems.

Trim Design & New Technologies Options and features of Rotex RCS • Manifold – single block solution eliminating cumbersome tubing and fitting • Modular in construction • Hot swappable • Feedback system with diagnostics • Versatile mounting arrangement

Key salient competitiveness of ROTEX 2oo3 system While 2oo3 SOV system in general industry is offered with combination of four solenoid valves, ROTEX offers its new generation product line incorporating only three solenoid valves in a 2oo3 system, and following are the major benefits to end user. The Limitation and compulsion to combine two solenoid valves under single channel is overcome. Further, in a 2oo3 system with combination of four solenoid valves, as two solenoid valves are linked to single channel, it is assumed that both solenoid valves operate together. However when one SOV misbehaves, it leads to faulty command to DCS, which is overcome. More specifically in the case of Intrinsic safe coils, 2oo3 system with three solenoid valves add to the advantage that only three IS barriers are required .

When a Dream Needs a Gentle Push to Give It Wings-Sponsored by Analytical Division Of ISA Growing up as the youngest child in a family of five, abandoned by your father, neglected by your elder brother and sister, with just your mother who is a day laborer in a physically unwell state of health and with the dreams of one day becoming a Chemistry Professor is really hard. This is exactly the condition of Mohammed Sajib Sheik, a 10 year old boy hailing from a slum in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Sajib’s father abandoned the family a long time ago. His elder brother and sister are both married and living their own happy lives while almost totally neglecting the existence of their own mother and brother. Sajib’s mother, Sofia Begum works as a day laborer to provide for herself and Sajib. But, because of being physically unwell, she isn’t able to go to work daily and so the responsibility of taking care of his mother and himself falls on the meek shoulders of young Sajib. He has to works after school, selling newspapers and water bottles to meet their needs. Like all other kids of his age, Sajib too loves playing cricket. He sings as well. But unlike every other kid whose role model might be a cricketer in this cricket crazy nation, Sajib’s role model is Alfred Bernhard Nobel, the world famous Swedish Chemist and founder of the Nobel Prizes, and hence his love for Chemistry. Once, at school, during a session of Science, the teacher was teaching about mixtures and it was a little above the understanding capabilities of a regular Sixth Grader, but Sajib easily understood the concepts and was given the opportunity to perform experiment in front of the whole class, and that too very successfully. He is passionate about his dreams to become a Chemistry professor one day and that is clearly reflected in his academics. But the only thing in his way to achieve that dream is the current situation he is in. No one to help him progress with his education, no one to guide him and help him plot his next steps

in education. And this is where C2C has come in to help him. C2C has taken Sajib under its wings and are supporting him by providing 1000BDT per month to help take care of their accommodation needs so that he can use the money he earns by himself to help complete his education and pursue his dreams of becoming a Chemistry Professor. C2C has a really good idea of how Sajib should carry on his education so as to achieve his dream. The Bangladeshi educational system is basically divided into 7 levels: •Pre-primary: Play School to Kindergarten •Primary: Grade 1 to Grade 5 •Junior School: Grade 6 to Grade 8 •Secondary School: Grade 9 to Grade 10 •Higher Secondary: Grade 11 and Grade 12 •Bachelor’s Degree: 4 years •Master’s Degree: 1 year According to the above given system, Sajib is now in Junior School and has a minimum of 9 years of education left to finally be able to achieve his dream. As per the Government curriculum, basic Science will be taught to all students from Grade 6 to Grade 8. From Grade 9, Science will be broken down into Physics, Chemistry and Biology. And it is also from Grade 9 that the education stream will be divided into Science, Arts and Commerce and this will be followed up until Grade 12. So, Sajib will have to opt for the Science stream from Grade 9 and then continue his education to attain a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry and then opt for a Master’s Degree in Chemistry to increase his chances of becoming a Chemistry Professor. Sajib is currently being sponsored by the Analysis Division of ISA. With a helping and guiding hand behind him, Sajib can easily achieve his dream and build a brighter future for himself and his family. Valve

THE WATER PROMISE – DMS Global joins hands with WATER RELIEF.ORG Clean water has become one of our most precious resources in the 21st century, in fact, one in nine people live without access to clean and drinkable water. The water crisis is real. It’s affecting men, women, children, families, and farmers. Women and children are spending hours a day fetching dirty water which leads to illness and disease, robbing entire communities of their futures. Lack of access to safe water and proper sanitation harms health. When health is affected, it limits education, leading to a cycle of poverty.

A bold commitment should be made to make sure everyone gets a chance to drink water from a reliable source. DMS Global has joined hands with WATERRELIEF.ORG, a nonprofit charitable organization in helping to plant more fresh water wells and pumps throughout Africa and Asia. Recently, DMS Global has taken an initiative to providing funds to dig a well in Ukhiya Village, Cox Bazar District, Chittagong division in Bangladesh. This is to help the refugees from Myanmar who are currently residing in Bangladesh. Every gift has an impact. Let’s share this gift of water with everyone.
