On July 18th 2014 40 musicians from 16 nations gathered in Jičín in the Czech Republic. They began a 24 day journey through 7 countries on a 52 seater coach. They travelled over 2500 kilometres visiting the Czech Republic, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland and finished their journey in Umeå, Sweden. They perfomed 18 concerts in 24 days and participated and facillitated in many workshops and rehearsals. They also swam in lakes, rivers and the Baltic sea and they slept on floors, gyms, classrooms, benches, boats, cottages and sometimes they didn’t sleep at all. But mostly, they danced, sang and played instruments...in the village streets, city squares, beaches and forests of eastern Europe and Scandanavia. This was an incredible journey both musically and geogrpahically.The following photographs are my attempt to capture the spirit of adventure, creativity and spontaneous musicality of the Caravan.
