Our April Meeting by VP Francine Dufour Jones Our April meeting will be highlighted by guest artist Talya Johnson. When I first saw Talyla’s paintings I was immediately struck with the freshness and excitement of her colors. I instantly fell in love with her work. I said to myself I want to be able to see color like that! I have since enrolled in Talya’s color class and cannot tell you what a treat we are in for. Talya says: “I’ll speak a little a little about the journey of

From the Girdwood Center for Visual Arts April is Art Swap Month at GCVA. Gallery Manager Lisa Carlon says, “Bring us your quality art and let us help you sell it.” This is a great opportunity to find a new home for your older art and to purchase some great art at great prices. Lisa describes this as an “inventory clearance” for artists. She encourages artists to “price pieces to move.” The gallery takes 15% commission on sales. Artwork can be dropped off at the gallery beginning March 30 and will be on display April 6-24th. Items may be brought to the Gallery during the month as well. Unsold art may be picked up after April 24th. Nice pieces please, no posters. GCVA is located on Olympic Mountain Loop, next to the Bake Shop. Contact: 783-3209 The Gallery is open Wed-Sun 11-6 p.m.

It’s time to vote by mail! With spring we draw nearer to our annual May meeting when Signature Members vote for officers. This mail in ballot is enclosed in the April issue of Brush Strokes to allow ample voting time for members who live outside of Anchorage and depend on U.S. mail to receive and send back their ballots. If you are a Signature Member and do not plan to attend our May membership meeting please complete this ballot and return it. The business portion of our May meeting will begin with election of officers. Nominations will be taken from the floor at that time. Voting for the slate of officers will be conducted by a show of hands by Signature Members unless more than one candidate is nominated for an office. In that case a written ballot will be provided at that time. Mail in ballots will be tabulated and added to votes counted at the meeting.
