First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to sign-up for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. This program will send you text and email messages whenever there is activity on your favorite lots or someone challenges your proxy bid and this is why you will be asked for both your current email and cell phone number. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your user name and pass word to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions. Please click on the Richardson Ranch 11th Annual Online Sale . 2. Lots, pictures, videos and links to a catalogue will be posted by September 8th. On Sept 19, Saturday morning, the sale will go live and you can begin bidding. Opening minimum bids will be posted for each lot plus any up to-date catalogue information & changes to the sale offering. Go to the sale page and click on lots of interest to view the up to-date sale lot info, pictures and videos on each lot selling. 3. The sale will close by entering a 5 minute extended bidding time Sunday, September 20th at 6 PM BC time. Any bid received after 6 PM will extend the sale by 5 minutes from the time of that bid. If bidding continues past 6:30 any bid after that time will extend bidding time by only 3 minutes and if bidding continues past 7 PM any bids will then only extend the deadline by one minute. When no bidding occurs in any of these extended sessions the computer will declare the sale finished. 4. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity. 5. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. This in fact protects your interest in any lot of interest for you to a specified dollar value you set, when you may not be able to give 100% attention to the sale. If the lot has a $2000 bid on it and you place a proxy bid of $3500 into the system, the computer will bid $2100 for you but if some one else bids $2200, the computer will again bid for you, this time at $2300. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest. 6. Within 24 hours of the sale close Richardson Ranch will contact all winning bidders to arrange payment, transfer of pedigrees and delivery of your lot.

If you require assistance with using the new DLMS Farm Gate web site, if you don’t understand how to create a favorites list, if you can’t figure out the proxy bid or you just plain want to bid via phone, please talk to any of the DLMS team or sale consignors. We can help you make DLMS Farm Gate Auctions work for you! Dear Hereford Enthusiasts, Welcome to our 11th Annual Online Sale. Wow…..what a year it’s been. It all started out so perfectly as planned with a short sweet calving period all over and done in first week in March. Off we went to enjoy a great time with many friends at the World Hereford conference in New Zealand. The Kiwi’s did not disappoint us. We had a wonderful time, saw great cattle, visited with great people, ate too much and maybe sampled more than our share of New Zealand's fine wine and grass fed beef. We certainly were not social distancing (that wasn’t in our vocabulary yet) as they toured us plus some 400 international guests on buses, boats and planes. It was a blast but as we finished the last few days of the conference it was apparent that Covid 19 was already changing the world back home. We returned back to Haida Gwaii on March 21, one of the last flights from Vancouver, and went into serious quarantine here at Tlell. No more planes meant no ET vets to do our annual flushing of embryos in early April. One week out of quarantine we were off on our reserved sailings on BC Ferries to deliver bulls to Vanderhoof and Williams Lake. All though the sales were going to be mostly “On Line” the bulls still needed to travel. We were fortunate to have our combination stock/travel trailer and spent the next two weeks in our own “bubble” camped between the manure pile and the Livestock load outs at BC Livestock. All went well except we couldn’t go visit our Grand children! Home again, 2 weeks isolation at the Ranch again, cattle to breed, fertilizer to spread and it was a lovely sunny dry early May. The rains returned, pastures greened up and the cattle got turned out to pasture. May closed with the birth of our third grand child, Charlie Camac Richardson, first born for Dane and Steph. June was good for the sole, long sunny days and it rained timely rains. The grass grew and cows got fat and calves got bigger. With maybe the best calf crop ever we couldn’t have a visitor even if we wanted one. Haida Gwaii was locked down longer and harder than other parts of our province. (Continue on page 5)

4

Visitors are still restricted to essential workers only and any Trip off island on the ferry for a local is followed by another two weeks in isolation on your return. The new normal means “Vitual Exhibitions” so in my mind we had a very strong “2020 Virtual Show Team” to go to the local fairs and we would likely have even done an Alberta Fair this year as well. Oh well, there is always next year. Covid is still affecting air travel to Haida Gwaii, we have none! We missed our annual fishing with Craig Flewelling in early August and a chance to walk the herd with him and show off the improvements from last year. As such there is no “Craig Says” in the catalogue this year but I’m sure he still remembers the mother cows and even some of the bred heifers he saw last year as calves. I am writing this two days before weaning and cannot say how excited I am with our 2020 calf crop. The three main AI Sires, Blueprint, Revolve and Bolt all gave us exceptional calves and having 10 from our clean up bull who was named Supreme Champion at the 2019 Lakes District Fair was just a bonus. We used these same proven AI sires on our bred heifers in the sale. This group is highlighted by a Catapult heifer from our Remital Jade 257S flush cow that Craig tried to get me to sell last year. She sells as Lot #11. Easily the cream of our entire 2019 calf crop and she is ultrasound safe to BOYD 31Z Blueprint 6153. Similarly, the Lot #9 Bolt heifer calf from our 27A Flush cow is our strongest heifer calf in our 2020 calf crop. New this year we are cataloging seven bull calves consigned to the Olds College RFI Test. See the details on the next page but the short story is you are able to pick your bull now for delivery next spring. This is a sight unseen purchase and your satisfaction is 100% Guaranteed. I’m really excited about these bull calves as they likely are the strongest, deepest set of bull calves to ever wean at Tlell. We will deliver all sale cattle from Haida Gwaii to Vanderhoof at our expense. Beyond that, we will work with you to get your purchase to your ranch as quickly and as cost efficiently as possible. Call me if you have any questions about the cattle, the delivery or the farm Gate auction process.

Don & Leslie Richardson PS Every purchase gives you a chance to win the Buyers Trip to Haida Gwaii which will occur after the Pandemic has subsided

New this year ! RFI BULLS ON OFFER This year we are making seven of our bulls which we have consigned to the Olds College RFI Test available for purchase this fall with delivery in spring 2020

11th Annual Online Sale “Bundling the cost of purchase, RFI testing and winter feeding”.

History of Net Feed Efficiency (Residual Feed Intake) Research Fall of 2012 Richardson Ranch joined other Hereford breeders in supporting the Net Feed Efficiancy Research Project. The RFI research project started as a three – year collaboration between the Canadian Hereford Association (CHA), Olds College, Cattleland Feed Yards, Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development, University of Alberta and Livestock Gentec and cooperating Hereford breeders. Running for three years from 2012 to 2015 the CHA and their breeders assisted researchers in measuring over 1000 Hereford bulls for residual feed efficiency (RFI) resulting in the development of a functional RFI EPD’s for Hereford cattle. Due to the support and ongoing interest for this project, the CHA continues to test yearling Hereford bulls, collecting measurements and data for RFI and PWG (post weaning gain) EPD’s. The Richardson Ranch has enrolled bulls every year and 2020 marks the 9th consecutive year we will participate. In the past two Online Sales buyers of Tlell Bull calves have elected to include their bulls in our consignment to Olds and have paid the extra for semen testing, RFI testing and winter feeding on top of their purchase price. By “Bundling” this into one package we are taking away any surprises - you get to purchase your RFI Tested yearling bull now for delivery next spring! 6

Seven of the fourteen Tlell 2020 RFI Bulls on Offer The class of 2019-20 RFI Bulls at Olds saw 8 Tlell bulls fed in a pen of 40 Hereford Bulls. The top four Bulls for Feed Conversion ratio (Pounds of feed for one pound of gain) in the pen were from Tlell as well as the top two bulls in the pen for Average daily gain. In fact, seven of the top eight ADG bulls were from Tlell. Pretty Girl! We had seven Bolt calves at Tlell this spring. This one was born a week early but she never looked back and has developed into a very eye appealing calf . Her pedigree is 8 generations deep in Tlell breeding and includes the mother of Xplosive 18X, the 2012 Agribition Champion. She would make a great 4-H or Show heifer before settling in to her outstanding brood cow destiny !

Best Tlell heifer calf ! This heifer was a grade 3 embryo put in fresh last spring when we flushed her dam for export. She has developed into the most outstanding heifer in our 2020 calf crop. Like mother, like daughter. We have two maternal sisters working in our herd and two more in the replacement pen. This is a front pasture female you can build a cow family around. Look at those maternal EPD’s!

We purchased Queen 50Y from the WLB Dispersal in the fall of 2016. She was the third high selling cow in the sale. From the heart of the WLB program Queen 50Y is a maternal sister to WLB Global 50S. Her sire 21T, is a son of DR World Class 517 10H. This Quaker daughter brings two of Bill’s strongest cow families together with both Jan 17F and Blanche 127J being the grand dams of 50Y. Milk and mass is the expected result from this family built on a long tradition of high standards. Xplosive brings extra muscle, performance and style to the equation. 29

We are very pleased to have once again been invited to consign cattle to the Richardson’s annual online production sale. Copper T Ranch is situated on the north shore of Fraser Lake, BC and has been raising Purebred Hereford cattle since 1988. Owners Trevor and Janice Tapp have taken great pride in developing their purebred herd which revolves around a foundation of 80 mother cows. Annually offering private treaty sales of replacement females, junior/4-H show prospects as well as great selection of range-ready 2-year-old bulls (Visit our website for more information). In addition to raising cattle, Copper-T Ranch sells its own premium Hereford beef. No hormone implants or growth enhancers are used and all beef is government inspected. Beef is available by the piece all year and by the side or split side seasonally. Beef is available for public sale from the ranch as well as at the local Grocery Store in Fraser Lake. Bill and Jamie have been with us since 2015 and they diligently oversee our day to day cattle operation. Together we have great ambitions and a bright outlook for the future of Copper T Ranch. 2020 has been an interesting year to say the least, we had a very wet and very long haying season but our pastures stayed green and produced lots of regrowth and our cattle have repeat the reward and are looking wonderful! Copper T Ranch has always been a strong supporter of youth in the cattle industry whether it be local 4H members or National Junior Hereford Member. We take great joy in seeing junior members learning, growing, doing their best, and having fun! We believe the show steer prospects will make excellent projects and will make their new owners proud. This year we dipped into the very top of our replacement pen to offer you an outstanding female who truly represents the type of female we strive to produce.

TERMS & CONDITIONS Copper T Ranch animals sell FOB Fraser Lake. All animals sold outside of our area will be brand inspected at our expense and we will make every effort to assist you in arranging delivery from Fraser Lake to your Ranch. Steers will be sold straight off the cows, untouched and direct off of grass. These animals can remain at Copper T Ranch at no extra charge until October 15th.

63H is a classy purebred polled Hereford Steer with enough presence to get you noticed across the show ring! Stylish, short marked and stout. This steer has a bit less frame then the other two on offer and will produce a lovely classic British breed carcass. 6D sons have been standouts for their Average Daily Gains and easy fleshing abilities and I would expect 63H to follow suit.
