It seems hard to believe that I am already at the end of my first year at Doha College and I would like to thank all members of the community - students, staff, parents, governors and alumni for the incredibly warm welcome that they have afforded me as I have transitioned into life and work in one of the most dynamic and inspiring British International Schools in the world.
From the moment I stepped foot in Doha College almost two years ago, I knew that this was a very special place for young people to learn and grow. From the outstanding staff who do so much to ensure that the students are safe, supported and learning effectively, to the outstanding facilities that ensure that, whatever a child’s interest, they can ensure that they strive to become the very best version of themselves.
One of the reasons this year has gone so quickly is the variety of events and highlights we have enjoyed - from outstanding performances on the stage and on the sports pitch, to academic success both within the curriculum and beyond it. I have really enjoyed celebrating so many successes with individual pupils, but also enjoyed seeing the record-breaking examination results for entire year groups. Perhaps our proudest collective moment of the year came with the publication of our outstanding BSO inspection report - which is available on the Department for Education in the UK’s websitewhich really was a testament to the excellent work of all our community and culminated with the assertion that Doha College is a ‘centre of excellence within the region’
This yearbook will serve as a keepsake for future years for our students when, long after they have left us, they will be able to look back on friends and memories and what may well be the happiest time of their lives. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of those individuals who have contributed to the yearbook in what is always a significant undertaking.

SENIOR VICE PRINCIPAL - HEAD OF PRIMARY
‘Reflection is one of the most underused yet powerful tools for success’
It is at this time of the school year that the process of reflection comes to the fore. However, its real strength lies in constant reflection - to see what has been achieved, what worked well and how further success can be assured.
As I look back and ‘reflect’ upon my tenure here as Head of Primary School at Doha College, my overwhelming feeling is one of pride. I am incredibly proud of all of our students, of every member of staff who work tirelessly to support and nurture each child and of you, as parents, for being the supportive community you are.
Doha College has exceeded my expectations in so many ways since we arrived, as a family, in 2021. The sense of community and desire to be the very best we can all be stands out on a daily basis. As I reflect upon the year which this yearbook showcases so vividly, I am reminded of all the wonderful activities, learning opportunities and fun we have all shared these past 12 months.
My overriding desire is for us, as a school, to develop kind, caring and relentlessly curious students. As Roald Dahl writes in the Twits: “A person who has good thoughts cannot ever be ugly …….if you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams, and you will always look lovely”.
As we celebrate the past year, it’s crucial to cultivate an unwavering curiosity and continual improvement. This fosters an active mind that consistently asks questions and seeks answers. It sharpens the mind to notice new ideas, fostering an expectation, anticipation, and recognition of fresh learning opportunities. As we often emphasize in Doha College Primary, “we get better at getting better.”
As I think you can see from the wonderful array of stories, activities and achievements during this past year, that curiosity is constantly nurtured here at Doha College Primary School - to take the students on a journey where inquisitiveness, discovery and learning are at the heart of all that we do, in and out of the classroom. As Wilma Rudolph says: ‘Never underestimate the power of dreams and the influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: the potential for greatness lives within each of us.’
I hope you enjoy sharing in the successes of our 2023-24 yearbook. Have a restful and fun-filled break and I look forward to hearing about the continued success of DC for many years to come.

Message from Vice Principal
As we flick through the pages of this yearbook, reflecting on the extraordinary accomplishments and unforgettable moments of the past year, it’s crucial to hold onto the belief that children represent our future, and it’s our duty to safeguard and nurture them.
This straightforward yet impactful notion emphasises the significance of our community’s role in shaping the lives of our children. Each child showcased in this yearbook serves as a testament to the potential and promise residing within our classrooms. As parents, educators, and guides, it falls upon us collectively to establish an atmosphere where every child feels secure, appreciated, and motivated.
Protecting and nurturing children encompasses more than just furnishing them with education and essentials. It entails heeding their aspirations, empathising with their hurdles, and fostering their interests. It’s about cultivating a culture characterised by compassion, resilience, and inquisitiveness. By prioritising their emotional, mental, and physical well-being, we equip them to confront the future with assurance and bravery.
While we commemorate the triumphs of this year, let’s persist in being advocates for our children, ensuring that each day presents an opportunity for their development, education, and flourishing. Together, we possess the ability to construct a brighter tomorrow, one student at a time.
Message from Deputy Heads
This year, we have continued to prioritise pastoral care and wellbeing across the Primary School. Recognising the profound impact of a nurturing environment on young minds, comprehensive strategies such as the introduction of the ELSA programme have been transformative in supporting our students’ emotional, social, and mental health needs.
Positive, secure and strong relationships between all those in our community make Doha College the truly special school that it is. This year, we have embraced further opportunities to welcome parents into school, spending time with their children in our Show and Share mornings, World Culture Day and celebration assemblies, to name just a few. This continues to be an ongoing priority for us moving forward, and we truly value the positive impact these opportunities have on our students’ sense of belonging.
Doha College Primary will continue to be forward-thinking and innovative in our approach to all aspects of education, and our commitment to pastoral care and wellbeing remains steadfast, nurturing not only academic success but also the overall growth and happiness of every child within our care.
This year has been an exceptional journey of both learning and enjoyment at Doha College. As the DHT Academic, I am delighted to reflect on the outstanding progress from each of our students as well as the vibrant atmosphere that has characterised our academic year.
Our students have excelled academically, demonstrating remarkable dedication and enthusiasm across all subjects. Memorable learning experiences across all year groups, including a ‘Teddy Bears Picnic’ and Greek Day, have sparked curiosity and a love for learning, resulting in impressive achievements and personal growth.
Beyond academics, the school has been a hub of fun and creativity. Extracurricular activities, from chess and comic club to football and craft club, have flourished, offering students ample opportunities to explore their interests and talents. The Y6 production was a highlight, showcasing the incredible teamwork and artistic skills of our pupils.
We’ve also enjoyed numerous school trips and events that have enriched our students’ experiences. The residential trip to Oman for Y6 was a real highlight, and it was the first time primary students had travelled abroad since the pandemic.
Overall, this year has been a testament to the hard work, resilience, and joyful spirit of our school community. We look forward to building on this success in the coming year.

As we reach the end of another exciting school year, it’s a wonderful time to look back and celebrate all the fantastic moments, achievements, and growth our Year 1 and Year 2 children have experienced.
It has been wonderful to watch the children settle into their new class communities, make friends and work together to learn and have fun. Throughout the year, the children have learned new skills and applied their learning in various ways. They have had opportunities in leadership through roles in teamwork, in the class and as members of our
It has been a joy and a privilege to witness the incredible growth and development of our Year 3 and 4 students at Doha College. Watching them transition through Lower Key Stage 2, I’ve seen their confidence soar and their skills flourish, preparing them well for the exciting challenges of Years 4 and 5.
One of the standout moments this year was celebrating World Book Day with Mr Watson. We brought the beloved characters Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum to life, much to the students’ delight.

committees. They have developed confidence and demonstrated their talents in assemblies, and they have participated in enhancing their learning on trips outside school. Highlights have included learning through exploring.
A huge thank you to all our wonderful children, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents for making this year so memorable. We are proud of the growth and accomplishments of each child and look forward to another amazing year ahead.
HEAD, YEARS 3 AND 4
Another unforgettable highlight was the immersive Year 3 Roman Day, where I had the privilege of stepping into the role of Julius Caesar. Year 4’s exploration of Ancient Egypt was a blend of education and entertainment, particularly when the students enthusiastically engaged in the hands-on activity of mummifying tomatoes. Their eagerness and engagement were truly inspiring, as they wholeheartedly embraced these historical experiences. These moments, among many others, have made this year unforgettable, and I am incredibly proud of the progress each child has made. I eagerly anticipate their continued growth and success in the years ahead.
As our Year 5 students were welcomed into Upper Key Stage 2, they immediately began the time travelling that has underpinned much of their learning this year - starting with immersion in life in Viking times, followed by an exploration of Tudor Britain, and then rewinding to discover the civilisation of the ancient Greeks. Their work on Extreme Earth combined biology and geography, as well as prompting important discussions about sustainability and was the focus of the wonderful class assemblies. We were delighted to be able to introduce our outdoor adventure day camp which allowed the children to develop their independence and collaborative skills, as well as forming new friendships within the year group. The children have been remarkable throughout the year and we look forward to watching them flourish in Year 6.
This year has been without doubt a memorable last year in primary school for our Year 6 cohort.
The autumn saw our students explore Victorian

and Edwardian history, including a fascinating trip to Doha’s Museum of Illusions and culminating in our drama production of Mary Poppins Jr, with four dazzling performances bringing the term to a close. In Term 2, we were delighted to be able to take our students on a residential visit, not only their first school trip away from home but overseas to Oman. The perseverance, resilience and willingness to challenge themselves shown during this experience has also been demonstrated over and over again in their approach to all their learning and academic successes. The school year began with the inauguration of our Year 6 Prefects and Big Four, and developing leadership has been a constant theme through our house challenges, Playground Activity Leaders programme and Moving On Up Awards. This, combined with our carefully designed transition programme during Term 3, leaves them exceptionally well-prepared for the next stage of their learning journey in secondary school.
“
A huge thank you to all our wonderful children, dedicated teachers, and supportive parents for making this year so memorable.
Primary Leaders
Thank you to our Big 4 for your excellent leadership and your continued commitment to making our Primary School a welcoming environment this year.
Kalleigh Howe Head of FS1
FS1 has had an incredible year of many firsts at Doha College. We enjoyed meeting our first teachers, exploring new stories, and joining in with new wholeschool events, such as sports day! Going on our first school trip to “My Gym” was definitely a highlight, and it was hugely exciting zooming down the zip line and playing the parachute games!
They have enjoyed dressing up and celebrating many special occasions. Through one of our core texts, “The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch,” FS1 learnt about the importance of healthy eating and helped prepare a picnic. They decorated “iced sea biscuits” and made jam sandwiches. It was a wonderful surprise to also meet Felix and the Falcon at our picnic, who joined in with our dancing and games.
The students have grown up so much over the year by making new friends, learning all about school, discovering new topics and so much more. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for them in their journey through Doha College!
Here are some of the things FS1 pupils have loved the most in their first year of school:
Maya
I love making art, especially painting because I’m going to be an artist when I grow up.
Efe
I love seeing my teachers in the school!
I loved playing with my friends with the dinosaur families.
Evan Dancing with Red Class makes so much fun. All the dances are the best!

As we turn the pages of memory and reflect on the journey of our Year 1 children, we are filled with joy and nostalgia. It has been a year of remarkable growth, abundant learning, and unforgettable adventures. Friendship circles have blossomed into beautiful bonds woven with laughter, empathy, and shared experiences. Our little ones have embraced the essence of companionship, learning the invaluable lessons of cooperation, kindness, and inclusion. Together, they’ve navigated the seas of friendship, forming connections that will endure beyond the walls of our classroom.
In the realm of language, our young learners have embarked on a journey of words, discovering the magic of communication and expression. Through tales of Pirates, Victorians, and the mysteries of rainforests, they’ve embarked on thrilling adventures of the imagination, expanding their vocabularies and enriching their understanding of the world. Who could forget the excitement of Captain Rhubarb’s visit, or the intrigue of those giant footprints leading to a beanstalk, sparking imaginations and igniting curiosity?
But our explorers haven’t merely delved into the depths of literature; they’ve also embarked on scientific expeditions, honing their enquiry skills and unravelling the mysteries of the natural world. From describing the properties of materials to the secrets of plant growth, our young scientists have approached each discovery with wonder and curiosity, fostering a love for exploration and discovery that will guide them far beyond the classroom.
Beyond the confines of our school grounds, our Year 1 adventurers have embarked on thrilling excursions, from the bustling streets of Kidzania to the panoramic vistas of Doha aboard a tourist bus. These experiences have broadened their horizons, igniting their sense of wonder and instilling a spirit of adventure. As we reminisce on the highlights of the year, we cannot overlook the vibrant tapestry of special events that have coloured our journey. From the enchantment of Book Day to the spirit of unity on Pink Day and the celebration of diversity on International Day, each occasion has been a testament to the richness of our community and the joy of shared experiences.
As we bid farewell to Year 1 and prepare to turn the page to new adventures, let us carry with us the lessons learned, the friendships forged, and the memories cherished. Together, we’ve embarked on a journey of discovery and growth, and though our paths may diverge, the bonds we’ve formed will forever unite us as a community.

As the curtains draw to a close on another spectacular year, we, the Year 2 students, stand in awe of the number of experiences that have shaped our journey. From the very outset, it was evident that this year would be nothing short of extraordinary, brimming with laughter, learning, and new adventures.
We experienced a patriotic fervor, celebrating National Day in grand style. With the school decorated in maroon and white, we honored our heritage and celebrated the spirit of unity that binds us as a nation.
Our love for our furry friends knew no bounds as we embraced World Animal Day with open arms. From playful puppies to majestic lions, we marvelled at the wonders of the animal kingdom and pledged to be stewards of their wellbeing.
In a salute to the trailblazing women who have shaped history, we commemorated International Women’s Day with reverence and admiration. Through stories, songs, and heartfelt tributes, we celebrated the spirit of women everywhere.
Books became our portals to far-off lands and fantastical realms as we immersed ourselves in the magic of
International Book Day. With each turn of the page, we embarked on thrilling adventures and discovered the transformative power of storytelling.
Venturing beyond the confines of our classrooms, we embarked on an epic journey to Carluccio’s, where we delighted in the flavours of Italy and in the joy of shared meals with friends.
History came alive before our very eyes as we witnessed the spectacular Tudor House Burning, a vivid reenactment that transported us back in time to an era of intrigue and splendour.
The sun, sand, and sea beckoned us on our annual beach trip, where we basked in the warmth of the sun and enjoyed the simple pleasures of building sandcastles and chasing waves.
But perhaps the most poignant moment of all was our Year 2 Assembly on climate change, where we raised our voices in solidarity with the planet and pledged to be stewards of the environment.
As we bid farewell to Year 2, we carry with us a treasure trove of memories that will forever be etched in our hearts. Each activity and each adventure has left an indelible mark on our journey, shaping us into the resilient, compassionate, and curious individuals that we are today.
So here’s to Year 2: a year of fun, friendship, and boundless discovery. May its memories continue to inspire us, its lessons continue to guide us, and its spirit continues to light our way as we embark on the next chapter of our adventure.

As we turn the pages of memory and reflect on Year 3, we see that it has been an incredible academic journey, brimming with pride as we’ve watched our students blossom into independent learners. As a transitional year group from Key Stage 1, it has been heartening to witness their growth and development.
Throughout the year, we have been privileged to embark on enriching experiences. Memorable trips to Baladna Farm and Bounce trampoline park provided opportunities for both fun and learning outside the classroom. Witnessing the children’s excitement and engagement during these outings was truly rewarding.
World Book Day was a highlight, with our students dressing up as their favourite literary characters, showcasing their creativity and enthusiasm for reading. Similarly, National Day allowed us to celebrate diversity as children proudly represented their respective countries, fostering a sense of unity and cultural appreciation within our school community.
Class assemblies provided platforms for students to showcase their talents and achievements, boosting their confidence and public speaking skills. Engaging in science experiments, particularly the celery experiment, ignited curiosity and hands-on learning, making complex concepts tangible and exciting!
However, a day that stands out to all is undoubtedly Roman Day, when children immersed themselves in the daily life of ancient Romans. Witnessing their enthusiasm and commitment to historical re-enactment was truly remarkable, underscoring their capacity for immersive learning experiences.

As the Head of Year 5, it’s been an honour to witness the remarkable growth and achievements of our students throughout this academic year. From embarking on thrilling adventures to diving deep into academic explorations, our Year 5 cohort has exemplified resilience, curiosity, and camaraderie.
This year marked the return of numerous enriching trips for our Year 5 students, amplifying their educational experience and fostering their holistic development. Our Day Camp expeditions with Blue Pearl were transformative. Through challenges that tested their teamwork and survival skills, our students emerged as a cohesive unit, supporting and encouraging one another every step of the way. These experiences have fostered resilience and forged bonds that will last a lifetime. When learning about biomes, we enjoyed exploring the mangroves. This was a particular highlight for many students. This trip offered our students a hands-on lesson in environmental preservation.
As they paddled through the serene waters, witnessing the intricate ecosystems at play, they gained a profound
appreciation for our local environment. Celebrating where we live, a cultural journey to the National Museum of Qatar provided a window into the rich tapestry of Qatari history and heritage. From ancient artefacts to contemporary exhibitions, our students were captivated by the stories woven into the fabric of Qatar’s past.
In the classroom, our academic journey has been equally exhilarating. From delving into the lives of the Tudors and Ancient Greeks to unravelling the mysteries of the Vikings and exploring the wonders of different biomes, our students have approached learning with boundless enthusiasm and curiosity.
As we look back on the year, we cannot help but feel immense pride in the growth and maturity demonstrated by our Year 5 students. They have blossomed into exemplary individuals, embodying the values of compassion, integrity, and a thirst for knowledge. As they prepare to transition to Year 6, their final year in primary school, we have every confidence in their ability to embrace new challenges with courage and grace.
Here’s to the cherished memories we’ve created together and the bright futures that await our incredible Year 5 cohort!

YEAR 6
Scott Martindale Head of Year 6
This year has been marked by many significant achievements and memorable experiences, underscoring our collective resilience and dedication to growth amidst the challenge that the final year of Primary school brings. Among the highlights, our Year 6 residential trip to Oman stands out as a testament to the tenacity and teamwork exhibited by our students. The children’s adept navigation of various challenges and active participation in outdoor activities exemplify the spirit of adventure and learning that we aim to foster. Those who stayed in school, worked exceptionally hard on an inspiring enterprise project and demonstrated commendable collaboration skills.
The success of our Primary production of Mary Poppins Jr back in the Autumn term speaks volumes about the talent and dedication of our students. Their artistic performances serve as a source of inspiration and pride for our entire community and are memories the children will hold dearly for years to come! Furthermore, the representation of our school in both QPPSSA and BSME competitions showcases the commitment, sportsmanship, and determination of our students.
As the children begin their transition into the next phase of their educational journey, it has been heartening to witness the enthusiasm for the challenges that lie ahead. The children are well equipped following the supportive transition events that took place in term three. The introduction of the specialist model for teaching maths and English in Year 6 has undoubtedly contributed to the readiness of our children for secondary school.
Witnessing the growth and development of our Year 6 cohort, we are immensely proud of the individuals they have become. Their resilience, perseverance, and commitment to personal growth are qualities that will serve them well in the future. To our students, we extend our sincerest congratulations and best wishes as they embark on the next chapter of their academic endeavours. Remember that you are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and attributes necessary to excel. Embrace new opportunities, cherish friendships, and continue to strive for excellence.

Modern Foreign Languages
As we reflect on the vibrant journey of our Modern Foreign Languages Department, let us draw inspiration from the words of renowned South African leader Nelson Mandela: “If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his language, that goes to his heart.” This quote beautifully encapsulates the essence of our mission: to not only teach languages but to foster deep, heartfelt connections between cultures. This academic year has been a journey of growth, innovation, and cultural immersion, solidifying the department’s status as the largest and one of the most dynamic in our primary school.
One of the year’s highlights was the French and Arabic breakfast. Parents and children gathered to savour authentic delicacies while children showcased their language skills by conversing in French and Arabic. This real-life scenario not only allowed students to apply their classroom knowledge but also helped them gain confidence in their linguistic abilities. Even more impressively, our department celebrated a significant achievement in the BSME Arabic Challenge, where we secured third place among 38 participating schools from around the world. This remarkable accomplishment was further highlighted by one of our students achieving second place among a pool of 2200 participants.
As we celebrate the successes of the past year, we are filled with anticipation for what the future holds. The Modern Foreign Languages Department is more than just a place of learning; it’s a vibrant community where languages come alive, cultures are celebrated, and students are empowered to become global citizens.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our pupils, parents, staff, and the entire school community for their unwavering support and enthusiasm.

Music
During my first year at Doha College, I’ve had the pleasure of witnessing remarkable musical achievements and a sense of enthusiasm resonating throughout the Primary School. Engaging music lessons, instrumental instruction, joyful sing-alongs, and vibrant choirs have all contributed to the infectious smiles on the faces of our students.
A highlight of our year was undoubtedly the outstanding performances by our KS1 and KS2 choirs at the school Fayre and the prestigious Qatar School Choir of the Year Competition. Notably, our KS2 choir advanced to the Grand Final, proudly representing the College as the sole DC choir to reach this stage. What impressed me most was the maturity and respect demonstrated by all choirs throughout the competition, truly embodying the vision and values of Doha College.
As we approached the Winter Break, Year 6 captivated audiences with their rendition of the beloved Mary Poppins Production. It was a joy to witness the active participation of all children. From the ensemble numbers to the remarkable solo performances, I eagerly anticipate the continued growth of this talented group as they progress into Year 7.
I’ve been particularly delighted to observe the dedication of our staff, students, and parents in supporting the various recitals and extra-curricular activities offered by our Music CCA programme. Our inclusive Primary Orchestra have been diligently preparing for a highly anticipated performance at our upcoming Spring Concert while our exceptional soloists are tirelessly honing their skills to showcase their talents.
It’s also been a joy to welcome back Mr. Sullivan, who has been providing invaluable support to the department since January, and I’m excited for Miss McHugh to resume teaching EYFS and Primary music in August. Looking ahead, I am eager to collaborate with our community to further develop and nurture our music programmes, ensuring that all children have the opportunity to thrive in the upcoming academic year.

Another whirlwind year of Primary PE at Doha College has swept by! Our Primary learners have been engaging in PE and swimming lessons with boundless energy throughout the year. The introduction of our new Games programme in Key Stage 2 has been a smashing success.
A calendar highlight was, of course, Primary Sports Week! From the youngest learners in EYFS to the competitive spirits in KS2 battling it out for their Houses, the Astro pitch was awash with vibrant colours, lively posters, and competitive spirit.
In EYFS and Years 1 & 2, our budding learners have been honing their skills and unleashing their creativity in PE lessons. From mastering fundamental skills to exploring their agility in athletics, dance, and gymnastics, every lesson has been a joyous adventure.
Key Stage 2 has been buzzing with Inter-House competitions, where teamwork and healthy competition took centre stage. Whether it’s sprinting, shooting hoops, or scoring goals, our students have proudly sported their house colours, uniting in fierce yet friendly rivalry.
The pool has been a hub of excitement, with weekly swimming lessons teaching vital water safety skills alongside the thrill of competitive races and games.
Our dedication to intra-school sport shone brightly, with selected KS2 children representing Doha College at QPPSSA tournaments in Qatar and a team of 32 Year 6 athletes venturing to Abu Dhabi for the U11 BSME Games. It’s been a year of triumphs and unforgettable experiences on the national and international stage!
We have been incredibly proud of every child’s progress in PE and Swimming this year.

CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
This year, we have made significant enhancements to ensure our program is more vibrant, inclusive, and exciting than ever before.
As a CCA team, we have broadened the horizons for our students by significantly increasing the variety of co-curricular activities available. From sports to arts, science clubs to language learning, there’s something for every interest and passion. This expansion has been made possible by welcoming a host of new outside providers, each bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to enrich our program. This means more choice for our pupils, allowing them to explore new interests or dive deeper into existing passions. We have added Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Rebel Gymnastics and Prodigy, who specialise in robotics and coding.
Understanding the importance of keeping our parents and pupils well-informed, we have improved our communication efforts. Through regular updates and an open line for feedback, we ensure that everyone is part of the vibrant co-curricular life at Doha College. This improved communication has fostered a stronger sense of community and made it easier for students and parents to manage their schedules and commitments.
At the heart of our enhanced co-curricular program is a commitment to giving our pupils more say in the activities they pursue. We believe in empowering our students to make choices that reflect their interests and aspirations. This approach not only boosts their engagement and enjoyment but also encourages them to take ownership of their learning and personal development.
The past year has been filled with remarkable achievements across our cocurricular activities. Whether triumphs in sports competitions, accolades in the arts, or breakthroughs in academic clubs, our students have shown what it means to excel. These successes are a testament to the dedication of our students and the support of our teachers and external providers.
As we reflect on a year of incredible growth and achievement, we are excited about the future of co-curricular activities at Doha College. With our commitment to providing more choices, better support, and a welcoming community, we aim to offer our students an even more enriching and enjoyable experience in the years to come.

Message from ECO Coordinator
The Eco Committee’s dedication to environmental stewardship has shone brightly this year, impacting our campus and beyond. With a passion for sustainability at the forefront, the committee embarked on various initiatives to nurture a greener, cleaner future.
Our efforts began with campus-wide litter collections, turning our meeting times into opportunities to beautify our surroundings. Transforming mere spaces into vibrant green havens, we crafted enchanting garden spots and introduced bug hotels, fostering biodiversity within our school grounds.
Venturing beyond our campus, a Qatar National Library trip inspired us as we met Sarah Roberts, a renowned children’s author and biologist advocating for sustainability. We also demonstrated our commitment to animal welfare by dressing up for World Animal Day and raising funds for animal rescue initiatives.
In a powerful statement of our commitment to sustainability, we proudly celebrated Qatar Environment Day with a resounding call to action against singleuse plastics. This significant milestone marks a pivotal moment in our journey towards becoming a singleuse plastic-free campus, reaffirming our dedication to preserving our planet for future generations.
Participating in Expo Doha, we contributed to a monumental painting project, spreading awareness of environmental conservation on a larger scale. Closer to home, we engaged with our Primary students on Plant a Flower Day, reviving our Secondary Eco Garden with youthful enthusiasm.
Culminating our efforts, we launched a competition to design our new Doha College Eco Code, rallying around the powerful slogan: “There is no planet B.” Through collective action and unwavering dedication, the Eco Committee has woven a tapestry of sustainability, leaving an indelible mark on our school community.

Message from DEI Coordinators
DEI COORDINATOR
This year, under the leadership of Miss Hesketh and Miss Rattray, following the previous initiatives of Miss Conteh, the DEI committees have played a crucial role in fostering a diverse and inclusive community at Doha College, building on the foundation laid by Sixth form Prefects Odun, Chloe, and Rauf. DEI representatives from both secondary and primary levels, and a team of prefects in Year 6, actively participated in weekly CCAs to promote DEI values.
The committees conducted assemblies on protected characteristics, engaged in activities celebrating black role models during Black History Month, and participated in the UN International Week for Persons with Disabilities and Neurodiversity. Term 1 activities also included a focus on ‘The Power of Words’ linking our Poet Laureate competition and Martin Luther King Jr. Day. In Term 2, in collaboration with the EmpowHER committee for International Women’s Day, efforts highlighted inspirational women across many subject areas and activities for all year groups, culminating in an event with inspirational female speakers from a range of backgrounds and careers within global companies, held here at DC.
In Term 3, the focus shifted to celebrating global cultures for the UN International Day of Culture for Dialogue and Development, aligning with Doha College’s commitment to diversity and sustainable development. Culture Day was a great celebration, where the community came together to celebrate the best of our diverse DC!
House System
This year, Primary children from FS1 to Year 6 have been involved in a range of exciting House events, confidently led by our wonderful Year 6 House Captains and Vice-Captains. The year began with our House launch, where children across the school produced creative banners, flags and mascot designs for their respective houses.
A highlight of the Autumn term was the House Poetry Challenge, with students across all year groups earning house points for reading, performing and writing both well-known and original poetry. In the Spring term, each year group took to the outdoors and
participated in our annual Sports Week. Displaying teamwork, determination and a healthy dose of competitive spirit, every student contributed towards their house point total through their participation in a range of sporting challenges. Each week, the responsibility of collating house points across the school has been managed by our Year 6 House Captains and Vice-Captains, who have been excellent role models for younger students throughout the year. Every student in Primary has contributed to the success and achievements of their own house this year, and we look forward to further exciting house-based events in the year to come.
