EXECUTIVE SUMMARY NASUGBU WEST DISTRICT

enrolment

t is always the great desire of Nasugbu West District to make its educational services accessible to all its clientele in a premise that it should be within the boundaries of continuous growth and improvement with emphasis to quality, internal efficiency and learning outputs. Despite of its intention to better performance, Nasugbu West District encountered challenges which hindered the realization of some of its goals. Those challenges are the basis of the Nasugbu West District to understand what are the areas to improve, what are needed to sustain and what mechanism should be employed. But in the introspection of data, Nasugbu West District has the reason to celebrate. In the past three years, Nasugbu West District has established a good relationship to its stakeholders to support its programs and projects, in which the learners were directly benefited through schools infrastructure development, financial supports in sports activities, journalism and other areas. The impact was felt as the district was recognized in sports, journalism and other fields in the division, regional and national levels. All these accomplishments were realized through the effort of the many, who in one way or another contributed to the successful delivery of certain services, through the leadership of the district supervisor supported by its school heads and teachers, complemented by willing and able community of stakeholders. The achievements gained and failures experienced from the passed years; these again would serve as the ground through which the Nasugbu West District can use to manage and monitor its own performance with the end goal of extending its services for its clients in the years ahead.

rom 42 barangays of the town of Nasugbu, 13 elementary schools, 3 junior high school and one senior high school of the 13 barangays were under the supervision of Nasugbu West District. Some of its school (Utod ES, Dayap ES, Maugat ES, Balokbalok ES, Bunducan ES, Calayo ES, Papaya ES, and Bunducan NHS are interior by nature but are easily accessible as the town develop its roads being a tourist destination and one of the most prospective towns for business expansion. The Nasugbu West District also oversees the NWCS-Nasugbu West Central School, the largest elementary school in Western Batangas with a total school population of 3, 438. Near NWCS are Bucana ES, Wawa ES situated in the coastline area of the town. With few more kilometers, (about 7 km) Natipuan ES, Balaytigue ES and Balaytigue NHS were located and in the rim of the town are the Pantalan ES and the Pantalan Senior High School. Most of the people in Nasugbu are Tagalogs, while an increase of Visayans in Barangay Wawa is apparent. In recent years, there is also a noticeable increase of Muslim communities (Maranao and Tausugs) also in Barangay Wawa which is seen to be the district’s future plan on inclusive education. Nasugbu is bounded on the north by the municipalities of Maragondon, Magallanes and Alfonso of Cavite; on the east by the municipalities of Laurel, Calaca and Balayan; on the south by the municipalities of Lian and Tuy and South China Sea on the west. Entering the town proper from Tagaytay City via the national highway, one passes fields of sugar cane, corn and rice fields, hills and mountains. The terrain slopes downwards to the South China Sea. Because of its rolling terrain and coastline location, agriculture (sugarcane, rice, corn, vegetables, coconut, fruits) and aquaculture are Nasugbu's main industries. Passing through the Kaybiang Tunnel to reach Nasugbu town proper, one will notice the different beach resorts flourishing which provides better income and revenues to the people of Nasugbu. To capture and provide equal education to the learners with learning disabilities, the district caters a SPED center within Nasugbu West Central School. Nasugbu West District o improve access to basic education, has established the support of local government unit and non-government organizations which play an important role in improving learning environment, enhancing physical structures and furniture, strengthening teaching-learning process through soft and hard infrastructures from school board funds and social responsibility aid. District’s drop out rate is at 0.35% due family conflict and poverty, and to reach the Out of School Youth, the Alternative Learning System (ALS) remains strong, with instructional managers capacitated. With a total of 528 teaching force from elementary and high schools the Nasugbu West District continue to deliver basic education to its 15, 247 pupils managed by the school leaders in view of selfgovernance through school based management system.
