Why a sudden change of color?
F
rom red color which increases enthusiasm, encourages action and confidence the color of Batangas Province has change into quite colors – pink combined with blue and white colors which are calming, pure, soft and gentle. Our new shades may not as stimulating as the previous, not as fearless and bold which Batangueños are known, but it correlates to this year’s STCAA theme; Calabarzon leads in promoting peace through sports. It is always resonates during the opening of every sports competition; it’s not the winning which matters but how well we fight in every game. How we disciplined ourselves. It’s not always the medals that counts but how many friendship we won. Similar to how our players should behave in every game, who control emotions and paining words during the height of conflicting situation.
It is what Batangas Province wants to win over, that its delegations are upholding the right behavior during the conduct of STCAA 2013. These are the values our new colors convey.

Pink provides feelings of caring, tenderness, love and acceptance, blue expresses a cool vibration that is helpful to communication, calm and relaxing to counteract chaos or agitation, while white expresses kindness. We are mislead if we said that the color combination we are using this year is not appropriate to use in sports competition because a person in physical battle needs a strong character, bold and brave which represent only by strong and dominating colors. Let us remember that pink is a combination of red and white and though it has calming effect, researchers of color psychology have found that this effect only occurs during the initial exposure but a person often become even more agitated once become accustomed to the color, while blue allows a person to look beyond and increase perspective which is needed for winning any battle or competition. Nevertheless, at the end, it is not the colors which will make our winnings but our players with burning desire to bring the gold in our province. Like balloons of different colors with ability to float in the air, it is not the colors which make it float but because of what is inside of it. 10

Asec. Umali’s Wisdom
T
he assertion of Atty. Tonisito M.C. Umali, Asst. Secretary of Legislative and Legal Affairs, in his speech at STCAA opening rites brought a strong influence and views in Sports. Thus, his conviction is rightly commendable and his wit is certainly splendid.
Asec. Umali made a strong point on the concepts of the true essence of sports such as; augment the teamwork, give focus while playing, value discipline within oneself and know how to stand after a defeat. He shared a perfect example on how the Armed Forces of the Philippines promotes peace in Mindanao for they didn’t use armaments instead they played with our Muslim-brothers. This statement influenced the spectators on their views on insurgency. He likewise mentioned that every individual could be a part of promoting Peace through Sports. Consequently, his assertion on having self-discipline is the ‘sine qua non’ in facing struggles and in fighting for life.

“The true champion in sports starts with personal discipline.”
His viewpoint serves as an eye opener that the True Champion in sports starts with personal discipline. On that stand point, we can really promote peace and make a difference. 15

“A

These words were the opening part of the DepEd Asec. Tonisito Umali’s message as he speaks in front of more than 7,000 athletes, coaches and participants during the opening day of STCAA Southern Tagalog Regional Athletic Association Meet at Cavite State University, Indang Cavite, February 17. He mentioned that our government through the effort of Pres. Assistant Secretary of Legislative and Legal Affairs reiterated that the members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Mindanao instead of holding their guns and tanks played sport in our Muslim brothers in Mindanao. “Tayo po ay tuwang-tuwa na ang Calabarzon po ay nangunguna sa larangang ito”, Assist Secretary Umali expressed. DepEd Secretary Armin Luistro, through Asec Umali, conveyed his message to remind the athletes that winning the game and having the gold medals are not important than the concept of teamwork, concept of focus , concept of discipline and the ability of getting up after falling down. According to the Secretary, expressed by Asec Umali, those are the characters and values to remember and retain in the hearts to be used in real life. Asst. Sec Umali ended as he reminds the athletes not to play only for themselves, school or province but they should play for the DepEd and for the country. Present in the occasion were Governor Joseph “ER” Ejercito Estrada, Governor of Laguna Province; Vice Governor Mark Leviste of Batangas and Mayor Bienvenido Dimero, Municipal Mayor of Indang Cavite.

hose are the lines devised and created by Batanguenos every time our Director is introduced in seminars and conferences. She is certainly the prime mover of the Culture of Excellence in the region. Her legacy in Region IV-A CALABARZON started on January 11, 2011 in Trese Marteres, where the pronouncement of her assignment as Assistant Regional Director was proclaimed. Is this an example of serendipity on this significant place?
The revelation and declaration of becoming an Asst. Secretary of the Department of Education is an unexplainable twist of fate. Her position as Regional Director concluded in Trese Marteres, where she expressively conveyed her gratitude to all her constituents in 17 Divisions. Silly, Isn’t it? But this is how God works. No questions. No doubts. Still, Batangas will use the same lines in introducing the Leader who envisioned “Excellence is a culture and Quality is a Commitment” in Region IV A. She is Dr. Lorna Dig Dino.

Insignia G od Designed a magical Gold key with Blistering prowess and placed it in a four-leaf Clover. God wanted to give this key to a leader whose name signifies a Good Gift from God.
God asked,” Donnie, Do you consider yourself as a Good Gift?”
Donnie politely answered, ”My Lord, you created me to be your son. Your creations are all Gifts for the People.” God smiled and asked the common question, “Donnie, What are the representations of each leaf in the clover?” Donnie intelligently replied, “My Lord, the First Leaf represents LOVE to be expressed to all your creations, the Second Leaf signifies WEALTH to be shared to all who are in need, the Third Leaf
symbolizes LEADERSHIP to be guided with Influence and Respect and to lead by example...” God noticed that Donnie stopped and bowed his head. So He asked him, “My son, What about the Fourth Leaf?” Tears flowing from his eyes, Donnie slowly looked at Him and said,”Oh my Dear Lord, the reason why I bowed my head is that I am meekly asking for the VIRTUES needed for me to serve and be a good Gift to all educators. My Lord, I want to BE the LIGHT of DepEd Batangas.” The whole place was covered with colourful lights and auras. It was the insignia of the Right Leader, Gift from God who has the authority to Hold the Key. When God handed in Donnie the Key, It IGNITES the ASPIRATION on PROMOTING PEACE through SPORTS. God is overwhelmed, So, He gave him another Gift and said, “My son You give credits to all your people especially to the athletes of Batangas Province. I am giving you this magic DGB wand. It connotes Dalhin ang Ginto sa Batangas.” “I love You My Son.”

The brisk moves and thunderous hit of Richard Romero and continual service error of the Trio gave a 6-point advantage to the Regu, 14-8 that made the Regu more determined of winning the first set. The squad nailed the score of the Trio to 12 after their plucky attacks and good services leading to conclude the game, 25-12. “Determinado naman ang mga bata ko pero nasisira talaga ang diskarte nila kapag nalalamangan na sila ng opponent.” said Marilou Escueta, the Trio’s trainer. The bout made the Trio attempt to capture the second set because Clark Dolor, Francis Cervana and Jeric Belen of San Pablo changed their style which strengthened their offense. But the audacious maque of Batanguenos is perceived by the squad. Stock and Distribution Committee assures that the stock of foods are within easy reach, manages proper storage and refrigeration, and accounts systematic distribution of ingredients, vegetables and condiments for every viand. Packaging Committee makes certain that the delegates are able to get hold of their meals and snacks in order. Table-Monitoring Committee diffidently observes the Prayers before and after meals and austerely supervises the ‘Clean as You Go’ mode of table manner. Acclimatizing in the court, Dionaldo didn’t show off early committing errors in the first game all through the second while Fabila positively defended their post to level at 1 notch to 1. “Kinabahan ako kasi hindi nga sila agad nakapag adjust, sinabi naman talaga ni Dionaldo na matagal bago siya nag-init,” Coach Annalyn Jusi expressed. Duo’s coordination came alive as Fabila poured accurate services supported by Dionaldo’s defense near the net leaving their nemeses to gasp at 3 deficits.
Dionaldo of Malvar Central School plays tennis since grade 3 and represented the province in the last year’s STCAA while Fabila of Mabini Central School is a neophyte and a first timer in STCAA. Antipolo’s smashers tried to recover in the 6th but Batangas duo never failed giving in their defensive play and sneaky placing while the boys from the province of pilgrims failed to connect and rest disappointed in the 7th game. Antipolo recovered as Fabila, a teacher’s son seems to give the 8th to Antipolo with his erratic reception and service, but Fuentez of Antipolo committed double fault halting the toeto-toe 9th game in favor of Batangas duo all the way to the 10th until it was over. “Our players are good and performed well we only hope magtuloy-tuloy until the final match,” said trainer Rodney Landicho.

survived 10 over 5 capitalizing on the serving errors of Batagueños. Piñon’s serving knacks came alive and Navarro’s attacks came just on time for a 4-0 run. A deadlock posted at 13 to be broke by Piñon’s heading and placing all the way to 15. Laguna forced a deciding set came second regu, as the Lagunense surprised a 7 points extra against 8 of Batagueños in the second set after a riveting first with seven deadlocks and double deuce claimed by the Batagueños, 17-16. Batagueños’ supporters left their seats when Bulayon’s placing closed the scores at 14-9 and finally it was over when the service of Laguna tekong Chris Lyndon Urizza landed faultily over the other side of the court. “Ito naman ang inaasahan natin ‘yong hindi na tayo makarating sa third regu. Sinabi ko sa mga bata na dapat maiuwi agad ng maaga ang panalo,” Coach Cura Jr. concluded
