In Gym forever is not enough

G

ymnastics is life to a 15-year-old Jabez Ane Danielle Sastrillo of San Juan District, Batangas.

At the age of three, Jabez parents started involving her in gymnastics trainings just to satisfy their dream for her to track on. The first time she engaged in the competition was when she is four-year-old. She just did the routines as she thought it was just a play. A play just like any other children did with their friends and without targeting any medal for recognition into a limelight of fame. She emanated her heart to gymnastics when she was in Grade V and VI. She was able to clutch 5 five gold medals in Womens Artistic Gymnastics in the Southern Tagalog CALABARZON Athletic Association (STCAA) for two consecutive years. Sastrillo brought honor to the CALABARZON delegations when she was awarded silver medals on floor and balance beam performances, and a bronze memento on execution on vault, were their WAG team credited as third placer during the Palarong Pambansa. 2015. Because of the so many accomplishments and recognition she received, Jabez became too boastful and egotistical to people around her. Even her values and attitude with her parents changed. Gold medals brought her to her dusky side. A distinction that she never been thought that would strain her to a shameful defiance

mnastics

“But then those situations subsided when my friends avoided me to be with. Even my parents got alarmed for I am being arrogant on talking with them.” With a teary eyes Jabez sued. Too much confidence flopped her to attain any single medal in higher competitions. A devastated state woke her up to her acme that unceasingly dragging her down. Her immodesty turned her into a throw down self-esteem. She learned to say sorry… A very first time she was able to said on her parents… a very important word that really valued by her mother… Jabez is a consistent Palarong Pambansa delegate and constantly a medal contributor of CALABARZON delegation since she was Grade VI. This year would undoubtedly her last stretch as a competitor in gymnastics as she said that she was accepted as one of the UST Cheer Dancers for her senior high school next year. A decision her parents laid to her for a better school but doesn’t have entries for gymnastics leagues. “Mahirap po talaga para sa aking ang bumitaw dahil simula po Grade one ay dito na po ako lumaki sa sports.” disagreeing to herself to let go her first love, her life… gymnastics! “Ang kukunin ko pong course ay BS in Sports Science o kaya ay Physical Therapist course para po magtuloy sa doctor para sa athletes. She can’t deny to herself that gymnastics plays a vital part on her life. The lessons, the experiences and the memories it brought to her will forever be cherished and treasured.
