ON A 106’ BY 180’ PLOT OF LAND, THE NEXT PROJECT INCORPORATES EVERYTHING THAT WAS LEARNED THIS DESIGN SEMESTER. 20 (500 SQUARE FOOT UNITS, 20 - 1000 SQUARE FOOT UNITS, 10 - 1500 SQUARE FOOT UNITS AND 10 - 1500 SQUARE FOOT LOFTS MAKE UP THE PROGRAM FOR THIS PROJECT. THE OTHER SOCIAL AMENITIES INCLUDED BIKE ROOM, LAUNDRY, CAFE AND GYM. THE IDEA IS TO CREATE A COMMUNITY WITHIN A COMMUNITY. ONE WHERE AREAS ARE SPEPARATE BASED ON THE UNIT DIMENSIONS AND WHO WOULD BE OCCUPYING THE SPACE. ANOTHER STRATEGY THAT WAS EXPLORED WAS USING THE IDEA OF THE CORES AGAIN TO TRAVEL UPWARD AND LINK TOGETHER DIFFERENT UNITS. THIS WOULD BE TAKING THE UTILITIES RIGHT FROM THE SITE AND BRING THEM TO THE UNIT. INSPIRATION WAS TAKING FROM THE SUNNYSIDE GARDENS HOUSING AND THE WOZOCO HOUSING IN THE NETHERLANDS.

15

ITEMS WERE BROKEN DOWN INTO THEIR PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS. THE MORE IMPORTANT ONES ARE LARGER. GREEN SPACE, UNIT SHAPE, ELEVATIOR SHAFT, UTILITIES, AND PATHWAYS ARE ALL IMPORTANT WITH THIS PROJECT.

CORE DIAGRAM: MORE COHESIVE WAY TO SHOW THE CORES. UTILITIES WILL TRAVEL UPWARDS FROM BELOW THE STREET TO ALL OF THE UNITS. THIS MODEL IS AN EXPLAINATION OF HOW THIS COULD BE POSSIBLE.

UNIT DIAGRAM: UNITS ARE COLOR CODED TO SHOW WHICH IS WHICH. LIGHT GREY - 500, YELLOW - 1000, GREY - 1500, DARK GREY LOFTS.
