EDITOR’S NOTES Let me tell you this...
Autumn—or Fall—whichever word you prefer for this time of year, is a time of renewal. Although Spring obviously gets the major rep as a time of rebirth, I make the case for Fall.
Why? We start thinking about the end of the year. We get new clothing or rework what we have in our closets. We rethink the colors we’re wearing. If you’re like me, you change your curtains and throw pillows to give the home a “new” look. I even re -upholstered my dining room chairs. Already thinking ahead to plans for Thanksgiving and the December holidays, this is a busy time.
So, as you’re going about your business this season, think “renewal.” Cast a critical eye in your closet and donate any clothing you no longer wear. Do a “Fall” cleaning around the house. Redecorate by changing pictures, curtains, pillows and objets d’art around from one room to another—you’ll be surprised how new something looks when it’s moved from a familiar place. Finally, think of renewing yourself. Try a new hair color. Wear a shoe of a different heel. Try longer skirts. Change your handbag. Just as you renew your living space, renew yourself.
Enjoy the season!

Are I am. How can anyone resist a supple, colorrich, leather-scented bag? I know all about shoes and the mania they inspire. I’ve had it. You never really lose it.
But bags are special. As an accessory, I would argue that nothing makes you feel better, look more stylish or feel more chic than a great bag.
I’m partial to blue—and this season there are beauties in various shades of blue. I’d love them all.
You Want to feel like a true insider, what about a Prada—almost any Prada will do.
Want to keep it neutral—with boots, heels or loafers? Try a cognac colored over the shoulder bag from Lanvin. See you at the

Crazy? Feeling down-to-earth and sporty. Take the Lucky Monterrey Shopper with you, or a Dooney & Burke hobo.
Want to mark your territory—go red in an Hermès or orange in a Cole Haan.
Beige can be boring—or extremely chic yet casual when it’s a Brahmin Bailey bag or Michael Kors’ Tonne tote.

What is it about throw pillows?
They’re
addictive. It takes little decorative know-how to realize that changing the throws on your bed or sofa can significantly change the look and feel of a room. A basic white or all-black sofa can look ultrasophisticated with the addition of a well-selected pack of pillows. Over white, think pow! colors such as aqua, purple or orange for a room that reads tropical and light. Or, add black accents and turn a white sofa into a chic and graphic artistic statement. Love the outdoors? Bring them in with pillows that showcase flora and jungle prints. Into Asian themes? How about a purple chrysanthemum as a pop-art statement? The richness of purple is lightened by the combination with white. Add other oriental touches to the room and you have a subtle take on orientalist dĂŠcor. You could make the case that almost any throw

pillow, if piled high enough can look good. Well, yes and no. Dated, piling, faded or just plain dirty -looking pillows aren’t a boon to any room. However, it’s easy enough (even for those of us who don’t sew) to buy new pillow covers or to make a simple cover out of great fabric. You can take the pillow to the fabric store to measure for fabric yardage. And, you should always look in the remnant table to see what’s available. You can usually find great bargains on discontinued fabrics or small pieces. Lastly, recycle pillows. I’ve been known to use pillows in the bedroom that had previously graced the living room and vice-versa. Just takes a little imagination or thinking out of the - - - you know… I hope these pictures inspire you to rethink your throws and to go wild!

MEDITERRANEO NEWS What’s happening in our world...
Our big news this quarter is the placement of our collection in a unique venue in Hallandale Beach, Florida. It’s called DEKKA, the Fashion-Art-Music Café, and it’s the brainchild of husband-and-wife team Luciana and Joshua Tiktin, who began this experiment in Washington, D.C.
The space brings together local artists in the fashion, art , and music worlds in an avant garde environment that fosters cooperation among the artists. DEKKA holds many events throughout the season. For a look at what they do, log on to their website at www.dekkafam.com.
We’re looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with DEKKA and to continuing to bring you our small collection of fashionable and wearable tops in unique fabrics.
To give us your feedback, please log on to our website at www.mediterraneoresortwear.com or simply email us at info@mediterraneoresortwear.com. We’d love to hear from you.
