HAPPY CHRISTMAS! I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our clients and advertisers for their support through out the year and of course our contributors who have made the Douglas Post a better publication. Most of all I want to thank our readers who have made the Douglas Post the most popular weekly colour magazine in Cork and we look forward to growing and improving in 2010. I also want to thank those who have supported me throughout the year – my colleagues, my family and specially the Angel by my side. To all those loved ones who are abroad this Christmas and to all those men and women of the Defence Forces, Gardaí, Emergency Services, Hospital staff etc who will be on duty this Christmas day – HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

Have a happy and safe Christmas one and all –

do look in on elderly neighbours, drive carefully and I wish everyone a hopeful , prosperous and happy New Year! Good luck to all those brave swimmers on Christmas morning in Fountainstown and the oarsmen and women on the Marina on Stephen’s Morning as well as the other events taking place over the holiday period.

I lost something lately through my own fault and it’s not until you lose something special that you realise just how precious it is. Maybe one day it’ll find its way back and if it does I won’t lose it again. South Link Family Ties

family ties The Greatest Gift of All by Libby Scrivner, Alabama, USA Christmas isn't quite the same now that my little ones aren't so little any more. Time flies, and how much has changed -- so quickly. In 2003, my beloved aunt and my dear father passed away. And as though two deaths in the family weren't enough, in late summer of 2004 I was diagnosed with leukaemia. I'm learning to find blessings in my cancer, such as the opportunity to reprioritize my life. Nowadays more than ever, I'm trying to live by the adage: it's not the number of years in your life that count, it's the life in your years. Then came news from my sister. I've shared so much of my life with my sister. We were pregnant at the same time and raised our families together. We had even worked in the same office for 15 years. She announced she would soon move to another state due to her husband's new job. It felt like yet another death in the family; another precious member of my support system gone. Admittedly we would still see other (though not every day) and talk on the phone, and for that I was grateful. She was very much appreciated at our place of employment, too, and would be greatly missed by her co-workers. December 21, 2004 was our office Christmas luncheon. It didn't seem the least bit odd when my boss asked me to join him at the front of our gathering to help with something. I naturally assumed he was going to recognize my sister for her many years of dedicated service to our office. I wasn't even suspicious when he handed a Christmas bag to me and asked me to pull out the contents and tell the on-lookers what it contained. As I emptied the bag's heavy contents into my hand, I announced to the crowd that the bag contained magazines... specifically, travel magazines. I was like a deer caught in headlights when my boss announced that in addition to the magazines, the bag also contained a check in the amount of $2,500. My co-workers had secretly collected it for the past three months, a little each payday, since they learned of my leukaemia

diagnosis. I was to use the money to take the trip of my dreams, to the place of my choosing. I was so surprised and overwhelmed by their kind and generous gift! But the greatest gift of all is the knowledge that these people love and care enough to do something so very special for me. That knowledge is truly one of the best gifts I have ever received. • Joe O’Toole from the Fire Brigade Motorcycle Club - The Red Knights - with daughters Sinead and Aisling together with Liam and Jackie Fitzpatrick at the end of the annual Motorcycle Toy Run at the Rochestown Inn. The Play's the Thing Forgive me, Lord, for all the tasks that went undone today. But this morning when my child toddled in and said, "Mommy play?" I simply had to say yes. And between the puzzles and trucks and blocks and dolls and old hats and books and giggles, We shared a thousand special thoughts, a hundred hopes and dreams and hugs. And tonight, when prayer time came and he folded his hands and softly whispered, “Thank you, God, for Mommy and Daddy and toys and French fries, but 'specially for Mommy playing,” I knew it was a day well wasted. And I knew You’d understand. Jayne Jaudon Ferrer

Santa Claus doing the biz in Douglas Shopping Centres Dear Editor On a recent visit to Douglas Court Shopping, I noticed a young boy approach Santa Claus on his chair opposite Krusty’s Bakery. He looked up, with hands on hips, and said with an air of surprise in his voice, ‘Santa, what are you doing there?’ Santa looked down and replied, ‘ I’m meeting all the boys and girls who’ve been good this Christmas.’ ‘Well that’s a good one,’ exclaimed the boy, ‘cause I was just sitting on your lap in Tesco.’ ‘Imagine getting here before me.’ Proof indeed that Santa can still weave his magic. So kids, made sure you get to bed early Christmas night, because Santa will be watching. Yours truly, Finbarr Buckley

Ballinlough Christmas Greetings: Dear Editor I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year. This has been another successful year for the Ballinlough Community Association. Including our Spring and Winter Ceilis, the extremely successful End of Summer Festival, together with all our regular activities in the Community Centre: Meals on Wheels, Friday night Bingo, Cards, The Retirement Clubs, ICA, Bowls, Cards, Canon Horgan Youth Clubs and Cafe and a whole host of other activities. Many of these wouldn't take place, without the commitment of the Community Council, the officers, and all those who give of their time voluntarily, to whom we are all grateful. If you have an interest in participating in any of our activities or helping out in the Centre next year, then dont hesitate to get in touch. The Essence of Democracy Dear Editor On an interview on RTE, the Minister for Justice, Mr. Dermot Ahern T.D.; stated that the Garda Representative Association were organizing a ballet for strike action. Mr. Ahern stated that the ballet would be an affront to democracy! I always understood that a ballet was the very essence of democracy! I hope that as soon as possible the people will be given a ballet and send the Minister and his government on their merry way and allow the ballet of the people to embrace democracy! Senator Jerry Buttimer

51,000 young people joined dole queues in last two years Fine Gael Youth Job Plan will take up to 30,000 under 25s off the Live Register Biggest increase in youth unemployment… Nov 07 1572 to Nov 09 3749. increase 138.5%( 2,177) increase in two years in Cork; Carrigaline Nov 07 99 Nov 09 374 277.8%(275) increase in two years; Fine Gael Senator Jerry Buttimer, speaking on the launch of his party’s newest policy initiative ‘Hope for a Lost Generation’, said “this new policy will bring much needed hope for thousands of young people. Unemployment among under-25 year olds has shot up by 158% over the last two years. Across the country there are currently 3,749 under 25s on the live register which represents a 138% increase over a two year period. Unemployment in Ireland is now the second highest in the Euro zone. In Carrigaline area of Cork South Central there is a 277.8 %( 275) increase in two years with 374 young people. This new initiative will take up to 30,000 young people off the live register through a combination of work share jobs created, national internship programmes, second chance education schemes and an expanded community employment scheme. Cork has been hit badly by large scale job losses, and we must ensure that a generation is not lost due to bad decision making, the Carrigaline area alone has seen a 278% increase in under 25s receiving social welfare in the last two years. As Enda Kenny stated; “Fine Gael has a fundamentally different approach to Fianna Fail when it comes to the Budget and tackling this economic depression. We see the Budget as an opportunity to deliver pro jobs, pro enterprise policies so that we can get our country back to work. That is why Fine Gael has shown how, through our New ERA plan; we can deliver an €18bn stimulus plan over four years that will get 105,000 people back to work” Fine Gael conservatively estimates that over 30,000 of these 38,000 or so places will be filled by people on the Live Register. In this way we are confident that more than one third of the 87,100 under 25s on the Live Register can come off that list in 2010. This is the type of intervention, targeted and specific to our needs, that is required to get us out of this economic mess. This is the type of intervention that is sadly missing from this Government.

Poetry Corner with Ronnie McGinn

One night in Christmas Week a few years ago I was walking down the South Mall in Cork. The spirit of Christmas was everywhere, at the entrance to the Imperial Hotel affluent guests were arriving, a choir was singing and as I passed on I could hear the bells of the City Hall ring. Then I noticed a grey haired old man in a doorway. He was

wrapped in a blanket and lying on a sheet of cardboard. Mother’s Hands at Christmas Time Ah! the Christmas lights, - are cheery, But this pavements cold and dreary, And my heart is worn and weary, Can’t believe it’s Christmas time.. Here, between the sobs and sighing, On this cardboard where I’m lying, I can see beyond the crying, Mothers hands at Christmas time. And the big log fire - a-blazing, The baking - and the braising, Oh my God they were amazing, Mothers hands at Christmas time All the fussing and the preening, Decorating and the cleaning, Ah! they gave our lives a meaning, Mothers hands at Christmas time. Oh! the blankets, damp and clinging, And somewhere a bell is ringing, Is that a choir that’s singing ?, Can’t believe it’s Christmas time… Ronnie McGinn Send your poem to ‘The Poetry Corner’ / The Douglas Post, Morris House, Douglas, Cork or you can email it direct to ronniemcginn@eircom.net. Carrigaline Choral Group Host Magnificent Carols by Candle Light Fota House Christmas Concerts 2009. By Aidan Winters Margaret Martin, Fota House Events Manager opened proceedings with a warm welcome to one and all. The direction came from our esteemed and dynamic musical director Jenny Judge, ably assisted by our excellent accompanist Celine Garvey. Jenny, choir secretary and general factotum Mary Malone collaborated to fashion a programme of Christmas, seasonal and traditional music items and readings. There is no better venue for a Christmas concert than the beautiful Fota House and gallery room resting on the grounds of the Fota Estate renowned also for its arboretum, gardens and wildlife park. Christine Browne was our capable and colourful master of ceremonies for the two concerts. Christine strutted her stuff but all the time kept things moving, and n’er a feather ruffled. With the audiences settled in Christine introduced the concert hosts Carrigaline Choral whose ladies glistened in their seasonal red stoles against the smartly dressed backdrop of the male lines in black and white formal wear. Musical director Jenny Judge and the choir quickly moved the audience with their singing of three traditional carols; O Come all ye Faithful, Angels we have heard on high and Once in Royal David’s City. Lively Jigs followed, Biddy the Bold Wife and Gerry’s Beaver Hat by Mac Tire’s lovely interpretation Siul a Run. Mac Tire finished up with 2 toe tapping polkas. The groups final piece Past Three a Clock, derived from an original renaissance carol and composed by G. R Woodward who also wrote the popular carol Ding Dong Merrily on High. The choir finished with Jesus, Jesus Rest Your Head and the very beautiful Coventry Carol. Christine next introduced Mac Tire who opened with An Spealadóir and time to cut the hay. Mac Tire finished their contribution of the night with a superb rendition and beautiful close harmonies in

The Parting Glass. Toni Forde and Muireann Cussen finished with another exquisite duet in the Simon Mold arranged Candlelight Carol. Mark Slade all the time was an excellent accompanist, sometimes conducting, sometimes singing base and sometimes all three … amazing talent. Dan Twomey, Dan closed with Lift the Wings composed by Bill Whelan of Riverdance fame. This immigrant song completed Dan’s contribution for the night and confirmed Dan’s standing as an excellent tenor with a growing reputation. Margaret Martin opined “the concert was a massive success and book early for the three 2010 concerts. Musical director Jenny Judge closed the concert thanking Fota’s Margaret Martin and her team, the audiences for coming and particularly the choir’s secretary Mary Malone for her professional work and organization. Presentations were made by Carrigaline Choral Group to all who supported the concert effort which included a choir member’s hand crafted piece in native bog oak to Margaret Martin and an exquisite conductor’s baton of polished greenheart wood mounted on a Cork silver rest to musical director Jenny Judge … hopefully not a stick to beat us with. The mission of the choir is above all to develop the choir for the public performance of choral music, provide enjoyment and social opportunities while preparing for the performances of quality and relevant choral music. To this end Carrigaline Choral Group are committed to supporting music and the arts. 2010 plans include the hosting of a major concert and the participation in various music events on and around Friday 16th April in support of National Music Day. Carrigaline Choral Group wishes to especially thank Fota House Gardens and Estate, Eden Singers, Mark Slade and Mac Tire for their help in organizing the concert, and all who generously supported the choir throughout the year with their talents, resources and their time. Would you like to sing? Call Mary on 087-2325913 or Dan on 086-3517193. Carrigaline Choral Group

The Carrigaline service will depart from outside Debenhams on St Patrick’s Street and service Douglas East Village, Maryborough Hill and Carrigaline. The Ballincollig service will depart from outside Debenhams on St Patrick’s Street and service Bishopstown via Curraheen Road and Melbourne Road, and Ballincollig. The Midleton service will depart from outside Eason’s on St Patrick’s and service Carrigtwohill and Midleton. Single journey fares are €3 (Douglas, Bishopstown) or €5 (Ballincollig, Carrigaline,

Carrigtwohill), and €8 (Midleton). “Our Nitelink services in the run-up to Christmas will enable people to enjoy all that Cork city has to offer during the festive period without having to worry about the hassle and expense involved in using other means of transport to get home,” said Joe Fitzgerald, Regional Manager, Bus Éireann.

Society of St Vincent de Paul The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) has welcomed the fact that the Government has compensated some of the poorest families for the cut in Child Benefit and retained the Family Support Agency. These were two of the key requests in the SVP Pre Budget Submission. However, it is regrettable that many low income families will suffer from the cut in child benefit. The Society says that the reduction in the adult social welfare rate is very bad news. This cut will amount to €13.90 per week for a couple, which is compounded by the loss of the Christmas Bonus, increases in rent payable for social housing and private rented sector where rent supplement is given. In addition all families with children under 5 have lost €664 over the past year due to the cut in the Early Childcare Supplement. Compared with this time last year, a single parent family with 2 children under 5 has sustained a cut of 10.4% in their income, or €1820 over the year, and a couple with 2 children under 5 have sustained a cut of € 2241 or 9.2% in their income. These cuts mean more hardship for families on social welfare,

Budget cuts in dental and optical benefits Last weeks budget’s cuts to dental, optical benefits for people who make PRSI contributions went largely unnoticed but may have long term consequences. The Treatment Benefit Scheme is available to workers and retired people who have made a required number of PRSI contributions. The benefit schemes will be restricted in 2010 to only cover dental examinations and eyesight tests savings of €54 million. It is estimated that about 200,000 people avail of the optical scheme each year. Before the Budget in addition to covering the cost of eyesight tests, it covered the full cost of some spectacles and part of the cost of others, replacement lenses for existing frames and part of the costs of contact lenses if medically required. Last year according to the Irish Dental Association 400,000 people availed of the dental scheme last year at a cost of €69 million. The dental scheme will now cover only a check up where to date it also covered the cost of a scale and polish and subsidised the cost of

and will likely push people into debt. The Society is also concerned that those in work, on low pay are being particularly hard hit by this budget, for example those not eligible for Family Income Supplement. We welcome the retrofitting of social housing and note the commitment to compensate the poorest households for the introduction of the carbon tax. However, it is very unclear how the Government intends to operate their proposed ‘vouched’ system. In addition, there is no indication how fuel-poor households outside of the fuel allowance system will be identified or compensated. The SVP is also critical of the introduction of prescription charges for those on medical cards and the increase in the monthly drugs payment scheme threshold. The introduction of these prescription charges will be particularly difficult for families requiring multiple prescriptions. The Society of St Vincent de Paul encourages individuals and families who are experiencing difficulty this Christmas to contact us in confidence. SVP offers non-judgemental support and guidance as well as financial assistance where appropriate.

fillings and other dental work. The dental and optical benefits were introduced as a preventative measure designed to encourage people to take steps to avoid greater dental and sight problems in the future. The Budget cutbacks that downgrade these services will likely result in many people on low incomes not being able to afford these preventative measures and instead risk greater medical problems in later years. In the long run the cost to the State is potentially far greater than the savings these cutbacks will achieve.

Car Scrappage Scheme The inclusion of a car scrappage scheme in the Budget will give a boost to people looking to get a more modern car and to those working in the motor industry. This scheme will provide Vehicle Registration Tax relief of up to €1,500 for people who trade in a car of 10 years of age or older when purchasing a new car. This scrappage scheme is a real boost for those looking to buy a new car or who are working in the motor industry. It will encourage people with old cars to get a more modern vehicle with better fuel efficiency and environmental standards. This in turn will reduce pollution and cut down on how much people are spending on petrol or diesel. It will also help to kick start cars sales which is important for the thousands of people working in the motor industry. We have already seen 10,000 jobs lost in the industry because of the decline in sales. The drop in car sales has also resulted in a fall of about €1 billion in tax revenue so it was important that some kind of stimulus was put in place. We had a very successful scrappage scheme in place in the past which greatly helped to improve road safety by updating the type of cars on our roads. The US also introduced a similar ‘Cash for Clunkers’ scheme last year which was very popular with the public. Hopefully, the people of Cork will make use of this scheme and that it will help those working in the motor industry throughout the county.

52% of Munster adults can have difficulty understanding medical terms New Booklet To Address The Gap In Understanding Of Medical Terms Over 50% of adults in Munster can have difficulty understanding the medical terms used when speaking to a healthcare professional such as a doctor, nurse or pharmacist - according to a recent nationwide survey1 conducted by Merck Sharp & Dohme Ireland (Human Health) Ltd. 'Arthritis-Key words in plain language', supported by Arthritis Ireland, is the first in a series of Plain Language patient information booklets launched by MSD, to help give the everyday meaning of some of the medical words used when talking about Arthritis. More than half of the Irish population is affected in some way by literacy difficulties2. It is important to recognise that 'Health Literacy' is not just about someone’s ability to read or understand a piece of information. Anyone can find health information difficult to understand

if the information provided is not communicated in clear and simple language. Arthritis is a chronic disease affecting one in every six people in Ireland.3 Arthritis –Key words in plain language is the first in a series of plain language booklets developed by MSD Ireland (Human Health) Ltd. with the support of Arthritis Ireland and a team of healthcare professionals, as part of their continuous efforts to improve health literacy. The booklet addresses the facts about arthritis, the common questions asked by people living with the condition and also presents an A to Z meaning of words often found in patient leaflets. Each word is defined using plain English and also placed in the context of a sentence for further ease of understanding "The 'Arthritis- Key words in plain language' booklet is a very effective tool that a patient can use to better understand the written and spoken information they will come across over the life time of their condition. Using plain language is a key strategy for making health information easier to understand and improving health literacy. It is easy to think a patient understands the medical words used to discuss a relatively well known condition such as arthritis so this booklet will be a very useful guide said Dr Eamonn Shanahan, Kerry based GP. A chronic disease, such as arthritis, is a disease that cannot be cured and will be with a person all of their life. The research also revealed that 45% of those interviewed nationally thought the word chronic, meant simply just ‘bad or ‘terrible’.1 In Munster 60 % of adults were unable to define the meaning of ‘chronic’ correctly, compared to Leinster and Connacht both at 39%.1 However, the high percentage in Munster could be accredited to the colloquial use of the word ‘chronic’ in everyday language. 'There are over 100 different types of arthritis and in turn an array of new words a person with arthritis will need to understand the meaning of. If they better understand the words used when speaking or reading about arthritis, they will be able to communicate more effectively with their healthcare professional. We welcome any initiative that helps people living with arthritis take more control over the management and understanding of their condition”, commented Mr John Church, CEO Arthritis Ireland. A free copy of the 'Arthritis in Plain Language' booklet is available by calling Arthritis Ireland on LoCall 1890 252 846 between 10am and 4pm Monday to Friday or can be downloaded from www.msd.ie/arthritis or www.arthritisireland.ie. The next booklet in the Plain Language series will address Asthma and Allergies.

EMC host the Rhythmic Gymnastics Competition with Special Olympics On Sunday 29th November a group of volunteers from EMC organised and hosted the Rhythmic Gymnastics competition with Munster Special Olympics at Colaiste Colm in Ballincollig. EMC got involved in Special Olympics this year first time and volunteered at a number of different sports events coordinated by the Special Olympics. This event was the first event sponsored and organised by EMC in association with the Women’s Leadership Form group within EMC. The Rhythmic Gymnastics was an all female event with 44 artists performing their routines on the day. The athletes came from different schools and clubs across Munster, Owenabue Club, Crosshaven; St. Vincents Lisnagry, Limerick; Scoil Aonghusa, Cashel; and St. Clare’s School, Ennis. The Competition had 5 different events: rope, hoop, ribbon, ball and clubs; the athletes could enter up to 4 of these. The opening ceremony started at 11:30am with athletes from each club participating in their club/school presentation on the mats. Once the formalities were out of the way the events commenced and everyone was caught up in the excitement of the athletes during each of their performances. The artists presented a very high level of technique and musicality. Most of them performed in several different categories so the judges could see their skills from different perspectives and in various musical contexts. It was a memorable day for all the athletes and their proud coaches and relatives, and also for the EMC volunteers who gladly shared the success of the athletes on the podium. Many athletes received several medals as they competed in different events, and every artist went home with a medal or a ribbon. EMC sponsored goodie bags for all the athletes and judges and the volunteers presented these after the awards ceremony. The volunteers then cleaned up the gymnasium and the event was finished by 4pm. EMC was very proud to host this competition as it was a very unique and rewarding experience for all the volunteers. Mike Regan from EMC, a Safety Officer volunteer at the event, said: ‘I enjoyed the day, I think the coaches do an excellent job and I think the athletes put in a lot of effort on the day, it was nice to be part of that, I would definitely like to get involved again.’ Magdalena Poulin, the Event Manager, adds that ‘The Rhythmic Gymnastics event was extraordinary, all the athletes gave excellent performances and the overall atmosphere on the day was indeed special. I am proud that EMC sponsored and hosted

this event, as the company’s support allowed us to make the day so successful and enjoyable for everyone.’ John Cremin, whose niece Laura was among the performers that day, sent his feedback to EMC after this event: ‘I attended a gymnastics event in Colaiste Choilm, Ballincollig. EMC sponsored the event and there were a number of EMC staff/volunteers in attendance actively supporting and participating in the running of the event. These EMC staff in attendance were absolutely magnificent and a credit to the Company. It was wonderful to see the children in their comfort zone, thoroughly enjoying themselves. I was really overwhelmed by the manner of the contribution of the EMC staff - well done.’ "It was a pleasure for me to work with such enthusiastic volunteers from EMC who not only worked with us on the day of the event, but they attended event management training sessions and briefing before the event was delivered. The athletes, coaches and family members attending the event had a great day thanks to the assistance of the volunteers. EMC employees reflect the company ethos of corporate social engagement with our organisation. We hope that we will work together on other events in 2010." Vivien Buckley, Regional Development Officer Events and Volunteers Special Olympics Munster.

Ask Dr. Ross

By Dr. Ross Allen B.Sc., Dip. Sp. Th., D.C. (Doctor of Chiropractic)

Overindulgence: More than just a weight issue It doesn't matter how many times we have done it before and how many times we have promised ourselves that we won't do it again, when it comes to the festive season, overindulgence seems almost unavoidable. People often let their health take a back seat and tell themselves they will get in shape again in the New Year. However, the latest science shows that this kind of overindulgence can affect the oxidant balance within your body and actually influence your DNA repair capacity, causing lasting negative consequences. The REDOX physiological state of the body is the balance between pro-oxidants and antioxidants. Under healthy circumstances the body is normally in a state of REDOX homeostasis that slightly favours the antioxidants (a good thing!), however, this balance constantly varies with a steady shift in upper hand between pro-oxidants and antioxidants. Oxidative stress is a state of REDOX balance where the pro-oxidants prevail and excessive oxidation occurs. An excess of pro-oxidants in the body creates an unstable cellular environment and can lead to many unwanted health conditions. A groundbreaking study published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research found that chiropractic care could positively influence physiological processes affecting oxidative stress and DNA repair in our bodies. Chiropractic care was shown to re-establish a normal REDOX physiological state independent of a person’s age, sex, or nutrition.

Indigestion Indigestion — also called dyspepsia or an upset stomach — is a general term that describes discomfort in your upper abdomen. Indigestion is not a disease, but rather a collection of symptoms you experience, including bloating, belching and nausea. Although indigestion is common, how you experience indigestion may differ from how someone else does. Symptoms of indigestion might be felt occasionally or as often as daily. Most people with indigestion have one or more of the following symptoms: Early fullness during a meal. You haven't eaten much of your meal, but you already feel full and may not be able to finish eating. Uncomfortable fullness after a meal. Fullness lasts longer than it should. Pain in the upper abdomen. You feel a mild to

severe pain in the area between the bottom of your breastbone (sternum) and your navel. Burning in the upper abdomen. You feel an uncomfortable heat or burning sensation between the bottom of the breastbone and navel. There are many possible causes of indigestion. Some are related to lifestyle and what you're eating and drinking. Indigestion can also be caused by other digestive conditions. Common causes include: Overeating, Eating too quickly, Fatty or greasy foods, Spicy foods, Too much caffeine, Too much alcohol, Too much chocolate, Too many carbonated beverages, Smoking, Nervousness, Emotional trauma and various medications, including antibiotics, aspirin and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

ing foods — don't help your indigestion, there also are over-the-counter and prescription medications that may help. Most are designed to reduce stomach acid or help move food from the stomach to the small intestine. Types of indigestion medications include: Antacids, H-2-receptor antagonists (H2RAs), and Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Healthy lifestyle choices may help prevent mild indigestion. Eat smaller, more frequent meals, Avoid triggers, Maintain a healthy weight, Exercise regularly and Manage stress. 12 Week Blow-dry Staunton Byrne, Douglas is now providing the famous “12 week blowdry”. This revolutionary smoothing treatment has transformed the lives of thousands of ladies in Ireland already by drastically reducing time spent blow drying and straightening their hair. Over many years in the hairdressing industry we have repeatedly seen ladies who are either unable or have to spend excessive time blow-drying to achieve straight hair. All this blow-drying adversely affects the hair leaving it dry and brittle.

Staunton Byrne would like to welcome Declan Kehoe, trained to a senior level

Now with Keratin Complex Smoothing Therapy you can eliminate up to 95% of frizz and tame unruly curls, leaving the hair softer, smoother and shinier. As this is not a chemical straightener it does not damage the hair, in fact the more the service is done the healthier the hair becomes. With each treatment, the build up of Keratin makes the hair smoother and silkier, straighter and shinier, easier and faster to blow-dry and close to being “maintenance free”. The therapy encases the hair follicle with a keratin bond to promote healing and helps keep environmental toxins, such as smoke, pollution and ultraviolet rays, from entering the hair. The treatment will take approximately two hours, depending upon hair length and texture. It works on all hair types and can be used on chemically and colour treated hair. Results typically last 3 to 5 months depending on the hair type. To book this amazing treatment call us on 021 4895485 or why not treat someone to a Staunton Byrne gift voucher this Christmas.

Cllr. Laura McGonigle

Remember those less fortunate at Christmas Firstly, I’d like to take this opportunity to wish each of you a very happy, healthy and Holy Christmas. The festive season is an exciting and enjoyable time for most families in Cork. A time when we reflect on the year gone by, and spend time with friends and family Christmas is about community, and while many of us are comfortable this year despite recessionary doom and gloom, there are others in the community who may not be. Over the past twelve months, families through out Cork have struggled to cope with the downturn in our economy. Families both you and I know. People living on our own road. Our friends. Irish people are known for our generosity of spirit, and this year that is more important than ever. Instead of buying an extra tin of biscuits nobody will eat, or a novelty present that nobody wants, why not give a gift to your community? Or contribute to the great work that the St. Vincent de Paul does in Cork. Let’s support those in our local community in true Cork fashion by helping those around us as we enjoy the Christmas festivities. Nollaig Shona agus Athbhliain faoi Mhaise Daoibh

An Giota Gaeilge Le Liam Ó Móráin

Ealaíon mar chomharba don Phobal Riachtanas Speisialta um Nollaig Maidin Déardaoin seo thart bhíos sa bhaile ag feitheamh ar chúpla chuairteoir ó Cheanada a mbricfeasta a chríochnú agus an teach a fhágáil. Go tobann, thug cara liom cuireadh freastal ar Thaispeántas Ealaíne agus ar shearmanas oifigiúil ‘Bronnadh Teastais FETAC sna hEalaín’ ar ghrúpa den bpobal Riachtanais Speisialta sa Ghort Álainn ar thuaisceart na cathrach. Ba faoi scáth na heagraíochta ‘Cope’ a bhí an ócáid tábhachtach seo á dtionól agus bhí sí ar siúil níos déanaí an mhaidin céanna i dTeach Newbury sa Ghort Álainn anseo sa chathair, áit a raibh Ard-Mhéara na Cathrach mar aoi ag an searmanas. Bhí slua mór daoine ann agus chuir Jo Nicholas, múinteoir, a rang rinceoirí i láthair roimh dóibh damhsa ón gceolchoirm Meiriceánach ‘Chicago’ a chur i láthair. Cé go raibh moill beag ar an Ard Mhéara chas chóir cailíní de chuid Scoil Naoimh Pádraig, agus na cailíní ar fad in aois a deich mbliana, buíon carúil clúiteacha don slua. Is faoi stiúir na Bráithre Carthanachta atá Cope á rith, agus tá scata scoileanna éagsúla ann chun déileáil leis an raon mór de dhaoine le riachtanais speisialta, sé sin daoine le máchail intinne orthu, bíodh an máchail seo éadrom nó géar. An cúis leis an ócáid ab ea Gradam FETAC sna hEalaín a bhronnadh ar ghrúpa mac léinn agus daltaí ó na scoileanna éagsúla Cope. Mhínigh Michelle Whooley, Bainisteoir ar an gClár Slánú agus ar Ealaíon, Cope, gur chabhraigh grúpa ealaíontóirí proifisiúnta go mór leis na mic léinn agus na daltaí sna scoileanna go mór lena gcumas ealaíne a fheabhsú. Ag féachaint ar na saothair éagsúla a bhí ar thaispeáint ba léir fiúntas na hoibre mar go raibh buíon mór de sár oibre le feiceáil ann, agus spéis nach mór á léiriú ag an bpobal áitiúil a bhí ag freastal ar an ócáid. Mhol an tArd Mhéara, an Comhairleoir Dara Ó Murchú, a d’fhreastal ar an ócáid lena a bhean, Tanya, obair Cope go mór, agus mhol sé cúraim na múinteoirí agus na cabhróirí a thugann cabhair nach mór do na mic léinn agus na daltaí uile. “Is luachmhar linn foireann Teach Newbury mar go bhfuil siad i mbun sár-oibre leis agus sa phobal áitiúil”, dúirt sé. Mhol sé saothar ealaíne na mic léinn freisin. “Cad is féidir linn a rá leis na healaíontóirí nua seo. Tá scil den scoth léirithe acu mar aon le paisean ina saothair, agus feicfidh daoine éagsúla anseo a léiríonn a gcarachtar agus is iontach an rud é go bhfuil siad ag glacadh páirte sna healaín, sa chultúir, sa cheol agus sa léitheoireacht. Tá féith an chairdeas agus an comharsanacht le mothú go láidir sa phobal áitiúil anseo”, dúirt an Ard Mhéara. Is léir gur bhain na mic léinn agus na daltaí an-shásamh as an ócáid. Eagraíonn Cope an ócáid seo chun airgid a bhailiú ionas gur féidir leo costais na n-ealaíontóirí cúnta a íoc chomh maith le billí reatha eile a íoc. Má tá fonn ort bronntanas fiúntach a cheannach don Nollag I mbliana, dar liom tá rogha mhaith pictiúir ar fáil, agus ní bhrisfidh a gcostas an banc ort ach an oiread. Young @ Heart by Phil Goodman

As we leave 2009 behind us we reflect and look back on our activities and trips during the year. Once again we travelled the highways and bye ways each week seeking new destinations and places of interest to visit. We enjoyed trips around the harbours; we took in Kenmare, Sherkin, Gouganne, Mount Mellary, Uras an Uctharian and Buckingham Palace. We held the annual waltzing competition, the over 60’s competition, we celebrated lifelong learning week also positive aging week. This year we focused mainly on physical activity which is important for both mind and body, so we now enjoy Tai – Chi classes every week, and indoor bowls. We have a knitting class which will continue in 2010 please god, and of course our computer class for beginners which over 100 older people took part gave me great pleasure, little did we think even two years ago that people in their 70’s and 80’s would have this opportunity and take it. Grandparents now relate better too their grandchildren and children as a result, sometimes the youth think that grannies and granda’s should sit in the chair and watch TV, but we proved otherwise. We have learned a lot from the transition year students in Douglas community school, as I am sure they have also from our older people. To see the interaction between young and old is something we hope to build on in the coming year. This year has been a catalyst for a lot of us with the loss of loved ones. I truly believe we will all meet our loved ones again someday. I wish you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.

Cooking and Baking from Millies Baking Only a week to go to Christmas and I notice some supermarkets are offering mince pies at half price. However, nothing beats homemade crumbly rich pastry oozing with spicy moist mincemeat. This week I’ve put down my recipe for mince pies, you can use any type of mincemeat you like, of course homemade is best! I’ve also added a recipe for a gluten free Madeira cake as I found out today from a neighbour that 13% of the population is coeliac and it’s not always easy to come by decent home baked gluten free cakes.. Mince Pies - Makes 12 • 200g plain flour • 150g butter diced • 1 egg yolk • 1 Dsp caster sugar • 1 jar good quality mincemeat • Grease a 12 hole tartlet tin. Rub the butter into the flour until it look slike breadcrumbs (or use a food processor) Mix in the sugar and egg yolk to form a paste, add cold water if necessary until you have a stiff pastry. Roll out on a floured surface thinly and cut 12 large circles and 12 medium circles using pastry cutters. Place the larger circles in the greased tin and fill each one with a Tbsp of mincemeat. Moisten the edges of the pastry lids and press onto the bottom pastries. Cut 2 slits in the lids and dredge with a little caster sugar if desired.

Home & Garden chrysanthemum stool from a frame to the greenhouse, to accelerate growth. Sow onion seeds in warmth for large bulbs. In heated greenhouses sow dwarf French beans, 6 per 20cm (8ins) pot, for April or May harvest.. Stand azaleas coming into bloom on saucers of pebbles.

Water Garden;

Who’s really thinking about working in the garden this week ? Well a few of us are. In spite of the proximity of Christmas, there is something very soothing and relaxing about being out in the garden. Because of the time of year even the smallest of chores tend to remain done, which brings its own quite reward. This article might give you a few ideas. Now not everything in this article may apply to your garden - but there might be something, if not this week maybe next week.

Flower Garden: Peg down trailing ivy stems to root as layers. Continue planting roses when the ground is suitable; soak for a few hours if roots are dry. Prepare new heather beds and plant up with acid or lime-tolerant varieties according to soil type. Assess the winter garden as a whole for

impact, and makew plans to add more colour and interest

In hard weather keep part o9f the pond surface ice-free for fish.

Kitchen Garden:

In General:

Net brassicas securely against pigeons. Take root cuttings for seakale, inserting thick segments vertically in pots, just covered with ncompost or grit, and keep in a frame. Save a few mistletoes berries to rub on the underside of old apple tree branches Lawns & Hedges: Check lawns after heavy rain (or snow) and spike to improve drainage wherever water lies in pools. Repair damaged edges of lawns whenever the weather is suitable.

Bring under cover any empty clay pots and containers to avoid frost damage. Cleasr away all garden debris where slugs and snails can lurk, including under greenhouse staging. Order seeds early, especially if unusual varieties are wanted. Harden off pot grown Christmas trees in a sheltered spot before planting out at the end of the season

Tomorrow night J90 take to the stage followed by the Electric Dreams 80s night on Saturday, don’t forget late bar and do next Tue and Wed! This January we will see rock legends, The Bay City Rollers take to the stage in Silversprings on 6th January. After joining the Bay City Rollers in November 1973, the band, with Les McKeown on lead vocals, shot to superstardom almost over night. "Remember", the Rollers' first single with Les' vocals, shot up the UK charts to No. 6 and was quickly followed by "Shang-A-Lang", "Summerlove Sensation" and "All Of Me Loves All Of You" all hitting the Top Five. "Bye Bye Baby" was their first UK Number One in May 1975 followed by "Give A Little Love" in July. Their first US single, "Saturday Night", amazingly went straight to the top of the Billboard charts, and their first British album, "Rollin'" was the first debut album to top the charts. The BCR released many more Top 10 songs over the next two years including "Money Honey", "I Only Wanna Be With You", and "You Made Me Believe In Magic". Between 1975 - 1978, they toured all over the world and played to sold out crowds in the USA, Japan, Great Britain, Europe, New Zealand and Australia.

After leaving the Bay City Rollers in 1978, Les McKeown and the band were reunited in 1982 for sold out shows at Tokyo's famous Budokan. The reunion was such a huge success that they toured again in 1983, releasing a double 'Live in Japan' LP. This was the first time that the stage included not only the Fab 5 line up: Alan Longmuir, Derek Longmuir, Eric Faulkner, Woody Wood and Les McKeown, but also Ian

AOH Cup 2nd Round

World Athletics Champion Visits Alma Mater

Grangevale 3 – Park Utd B 3 (aet) Park Utd won 9-8 on pens

Three times world athletics champion Marcus O' Sullivan has paid a visit to Coláiste Chríost Rí and given a motivational talk to the schools athletes and Transition Year students. His visit was part of the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations and his message was “to follow your dreams and don't be afraid of failure". Coláiste Chríost Rí has a strong reputation and history in both track and field and cross-country athletics. Its athletes are current Munster Junior athletics champions. O' Sullivan attended the famous Cork school between 1974 and 1979 and is now the Director of Villanova University Track & Field, and head coach to the men's cross country and track & field programs. Having left Ireland thirty years ago, O'Sullivan established himself as one of `Nova's all-time great distance runners during his collegiate career (198084) and since taking the helm of the program, has returned the Wildcats to prominence on the conference and national scenes. As an athlete, O'Sullivan was a fourtime Olympian, three-time World Indoor champion in the 1500m, and previously held the world records for the indoor 1500m and the 4x1 mile relay. His professional career, which spanned 15 years, includes medals at the Goodwill Games, the European Championships, the World Championships and the U.S. Championships. He has the distinction of being one of three men to run more than one hundred sub four-minute miles. He graduated from Villanova in 1984 with a degree in Accounting and went on to earn his MBA from Villanova in 1989. After passing the CPA exam, he served as a part-time faculty member of the Villanova marketing department from 1992-93. On September 18, 2004, O'Sullivan joined 22 other men's track & field legends on the Wall of Fame. `Nova honored him with a plaque in the shape of a winged track shoe, bearing his name, that is permanently displayed on the wall of the Pavilion next to the scoreboard in the west end of the stadium. O'Sullivan's wife, the former Mary Spinks, earned a nursing degree from Villanova in 1986. The couple has two children: Laura (17) and Christopher (14).

The crowd at Grangevale Park on Sunday afternoon were treated to an epic encounter which ended with the Vale bowing out of this years AOH Cup in the cruellest fashion with Park Utd going trough 9-8 on penalties. Gary Ahern kept goal and the back four was made up of Damo O’Callaghan, Dave O’Sullivan, Keith Troy and Barry Twomey. Malik Elmusbahi, John Harris, Colin McKeon and Colin McSweeney held the midfield berths with Danny Meade and Philip Holland up front. Park took the lead on 17 mins after the referee pointed to the spot following Dave O’Sullivan’s challenge on the Park striker. Gary Ahern guessed correctly but couldn’t keep the ball out. The Vale got back on level terms on 29 mins when Danny Meade finished Malik Elmusbahi’s superb cross to the net and within 6 mins the Vale were ahead courtesy of a cheeky lob by Philip Holland who has hit a rich vein of form since his move from midfield to a striking role. The game ebbed and flowed with both teams showing great commitment and 5 mins before the break, Park Utd equalised despite protestations from the Vale’s supporters who were convinced that the striker was in an offside position when the final pass was made. The second half saw the Vale play the more controlled football and with Damien O’ Callaghan beginning to come more and more into the game, they looked the more likely to score. However, it was Park who took the lead following a corner kick which was deflected past Ahern to the net. Colin McKeon and Holland both saw headers come back off the woodwork and it began to look as the equaliser would never come until O’Callaghan popped up to make it 3-3 with a fabulous strike from 20 yards out. This sent the game into extra time, which failed to produce another goal for either side and so it went to a penalty shoot out where Park prevailed after each side took 10 spot kicks each. Next week the Vale entertain Pearse Celtic in an FAI Cup 3rd round tie. Hopefully the weather will continue to improve and this tie will go ahead at the 4th time of asking!

Tramore Athletic FC Munster Senior League 1st Division Fermoy 1 Tramore Athletic 2 Tramore Athletic Senior team maintained their position at the top of the 1st Division table this week following a well deserved victory away to Fermoy on Sunday morning. Tramore Athletic took the confidence of their lofty league position into the match and took the game to the home side from the opening whistle. Tramore were soon rewarded for their exceptional high tempo passing football with goals from Jason Meehan and Shane O'Shea. Fermoy's resolute defence meant that Tramore could never get the rewards on the scoreboard that their good play deserved but they ran out well deserved winners by the final whistle by two goals to one. Dave Dorney, Eric Ryan and

Stephen Dorney were all outstanding on the day for Tramore. Tramore Ath Soccertots continues every Sunday morning from 9 until 11 with football fun and training for girls and boys aged 6-10 under the watchful supervision of qualified coaches. New players are always welcome. Tramore Athletic are currently running a fundraising draw for tickets to the Munster and Northampton Saints rugby match on the weekend of the 22nd/23rd/24th January in Thomond Park, Limerick. Darragh O’Drisceoil from Rochestown,a pupil at Presentation Brothers College,is this years Chairman and he was accompanied by Executive Member,Mary Kate Portley from Model Farm Rd.,who attends Mount Mercy College. Darragh thanked Avondale for their generosity saying that he was aware that sporting clubs were finding it difficult to fund their own programmes,so it was indeed praiseworthy that Avondale were prepared to continue with the tradition built up over the last eighteen years. The Lord Mayor praised the gesture of Avondale and all the sporting clubs who did so much voluntary work in their Communities. He said he was truly amazed at the generosity of the people of Cork who, in spite of difficult

College Corinthians AFC Under 14 National Cup Leeds 1 Corinthian Boys 0 Last year’s semi finalists Corinthian Boys bowed out of this seasons National Cup after a disappointing defeat against Leeds. It was a very tight contest with chances few and far between. However as the game entered the final ten minutes Leeds pounced for the only goal and hard as Corinthians tried subsequently they could not force the equaliser. Despite the defeat Corinthian’s have still much to play for this season and hopefully the squad will now turn their attention to the race for the Premier League title which they currently lead.

Corinthian Boys A 0 Strand Utd. 1 Strand United confirmed their position as table toppers with a deserved win against a committed and hard working Corinthian Boys. Right from the start Strand were on the front foot and had the Boys under pressure. Great tackling by Sean Fenny,Chris Murray and a storming display by John Barry kept Strand at bay before the vital breakthrough came after twenty minutes with a well taken goal which gave stand in keeper, Sean Keating, no chance. The Boys gave it their all in the second half.

Alex Hurley and Cian O Shea came close to creating a goal but Strand were strong in all departments and were worth the three points. The game was played in great conditions on a superb pitch and the contest was a credit to two sporting teams

Winter Street Leagues – Underage Section. The weekend saw the start of this year’s Winter Street Leagues at under Seven and Under Eight age levels. As usual there was some great action with some fine individual and team performances with everyone involved having a great time. In the Under Seven League ACT Brumboes were the star team and they had super performers in Mark Redmond, Kevin Moran and Ethan O’ Mahony. Springfield Isotopes were also very impressive with Daniel Meade, Diarmuid Desmond and Daniel Squires to the fore. In the Under Eight League Dallas Cowboys were the form team winning both games, Alexander Harly, Sean Browne, Joseph Lombard and Eoin Kenny were in fine form for the Cowboys, the Harlem Glosetrotters also picked up full points and in the game of the day came from 3-1 down to defeat the Mighty Ducks 4-3, Conor Murphy, Luke O’ Brien, Sean Dunlea and Daniel Harte were excellent for the Globetrotters while Adam Idah, James Gillespie and Robbie Shalloe did well for the Mighty Ducks. Soccer coaching, training and Street Leagues take place every Saturday and Sunday in Corinthians, the sessions are open to schoolboys and girls between the ages of five and ten. NATIONAL EVENT HIRE NEPTUNE CLAIM UCD SCALP UCD-Marian played host to National Event Hire Neptune at Belfield and the first quarter proved to be a very even affair, finishing 23 -22 for the visitors. The second quarter was a different matter as NEH Neptune’s American, Jawann James, took control of the boards at both ends of the floor, and as the students turned the ball over number of times, the pace of Ian McLoughlin and Michael McGinn punished them for all their mistakes For example, going into last minute of the quarter, Neptune led by ten and yet they managed three more baskets in that final minute to lead 53 – 36 at the break, with almost half of their scores coming from Jawan James. Juwann James has proved to many that he may be the one of the best imports playing in the league this season, some have compared him to Terry Strictland of 25 years ago with his power, strength and scoring ability, but the one thing no score sheet will show you is the hard work and effort that he continues to show in defence, from steals, block shots and rebounds Juwann has it all it seems. There were some very notable performances from NEH Neptune with Cocaptain Kevin Reddy coming off the bench with 8 points and the starting forward Mark Mitchell chipping in with 8 points also. The game saw the debut of 7ft3 Ameriacn Jason Bennett for NEH Neptune, Jason who has arrived as a back up to Juwann, will have a couple of weeks now to settle in and get use to his team before playing Killester on the 28th December in Neptune Stadium.

Christmas Break Under age training & Street Leagues will finish up next weekend and will resume again after the Christmas break on the weekend of Saturday January 2nd. On behalf of the Club I would like to wish al our players, coaches, parents and supporters a very enjoyable Christmas and a happy new year.

Pat Price, NEH Neptune coach said, "As a coach I couldn’t be happier for this group of players who continue to show remarkable attitude and everything is down to their efforts" Marian steadied the ship in the third quarter but the second quarter damage proved impossible to repair and the final score was 88 – 74 to Neptune. It was a good defensive and offensive performance by Neptune with strong individual defence coupled with an effective press but the performance of the match was 48 points plus 25 rebounds from Juwan James. National Event Hire Neptune seem to have turned the corner from the opening three games of the season and with the majority of their away games now under their belt, NEH Neptune will now go into their busy Christmas period with a lot of confidence. They play Killester on the 28th Dec and DCU Saints on the 1st Jan which also marks the 25th Anniversary of Neptune Stadium with an All -Star game planned for 2pm between a Neptune Selection and a team of the 80's from Cork and Dublin. • James

Fr Mathews Basketball Club - Match Update. Girls U12A League: Fr Mathews 29 – 22 Brunell Our U12A girls continued their good form in this league with a hard fought victory over their closest rivals Brunell in Douglas Community School last Saturday. It looked like the result was going to be a relatively easy win for Mathews as they led from the start and took a commanding half time lead of 21 – 3 which was aided by some wonderful scores from Aoife Gibbons but Brunell put up a very strong comeback in the second half resulting in a very exciting last quarter. Despite Brunell’s comeback Mathews demonstrated great character to hold on and with Heather Lynch and Aisling O’Driscoll winning some superb rebounds they ran out deserved winners in the end to maintain their challenge for the league title.

Boys U11A League: Carraig na bhFear 33 – 41 Fr Mathews

Our young boys travelled to Whitechurch to take on a very strong Carraig side on their home court and came away with a super victory. This was a great all round performance by Mathews and their free flowing basketball made for a very entertaining match. Trailing at the half 17 – 22 they showed great character to stage a great comeback in front of a large home crowd. Players such as Colm Barrett and Derek Emelifeonwy were unstoppable in the second half as they drove to their opponents basket time after time to notch up vital points. Young players such as Max Walsh, Gavin Burke and Scott O’Sullivan also played superbly and their defence was a key pert in Mathews comeback in the last two periods. Both sides put on a great show of skillfull basketball and the 41 points scored by Matehws was the highest they have scored this season. A magnificent result for Kieran Daly’s young team.

point guard as he set up basket after basket with some sublime passes to his team mates and finished the first half with a beautiful long range jump shot himself to send Mathews in at the break leading 28 – 6 in front. Others to impress for Mathews were Devin O’Sullivan and Colm Murphy who pulled down some great rebounds and Gary Pineada who is proving unstoppable at this level. Along with Evan Coughlan, Coach O’Keeffe has an abundance of talented guards with players such as Conor & Rory Casey, Com Barrett and Tadgh O’Mahony providing great depth in the panel. Special mention goes to Kevin Ryan who was playing his first game back after an early season injury. He showed that he is a great talent and will be a great addition to the side with an very good all round performance on his comeback.

Boys U11A League: Ballincollig 20 – 25 Fr Mathews

This was another good win for our U11 side as they travelled to Ballincollig on Sunday and came away with the points. A strong overall performance saw Mathews lead from the start with Max Walsh and Colm Barrett scoring some excellent baskets. Excellent defence from Ronan Daly and Alexander Harley combined with the some great scores from Bryce Solis and Liam McCarthy saw Mathews take a 16 – 11 lead into the final quarter. Coach Daly gave equal court time to all his panel and players such as Cathal Molloy, Laszlo Tatai, Arron O’Leary and Kevin Tujner played some excellent basketball and tough defence to ensure Mathews ran out winners in the end. If you would like your son or daughter to play basketball then contact Pat Connolly at 087-7905049 or log on to our website at www. frmathews.net to find out more about our basketball club.

Mark O’Keeffe brought his highly talented U12 side to Ballincollig on Sunday last as they aimed to maintain their 100% record in the league. In a very one sided contest Mathews strength throughout their squad proved too much for the home team as Mathews ran out comfortable winners to stretch their lead at the top of the league. With such a performance it is very hard to pick out any one player but special mention must go to Evan Coughlan who was outstanding at
