Nel 2010 Ex-t inizia a collaborare con giovani talenti
internazionali. Alex Bradley (Inghilterra), Hiroshi Kawano
(Giappone) e Jethro Macey (Inghilterra) sono i tre designer che inaugurano questa nuova esperienza. I loro progetti, eclettici ma ispirati dalla medesima, immediatamente
riconoscibile, sensibilitĂ estetica, superando il concetto di collezione e di genere, sono oggetti autonomi e dinamici che danno avvio a una nuova ed originale generazione di prodotti che lascia liberi di interpretare le proprie necessitĂ di individui contemporanei, dentro e fuori la stanza da bagno. In 2010 Ex-t begins to collaborate with young international talents. Three designers inaugurate this new experience: Alex Bradley (England), Hiroshi Kawano (Japan) and Jethro Macey (England). Their designs, eclectic but inspired by the same immediately recognizable aesthetic sensibility, going over the concept of collection and genre, are dynamic and autonomous objects launch a new and original generation of products that leaves contemporary individuals free to interpret their own needs, inside and outside the bathroom.
ALEX BRADLEY
Alex Bradley si laurea in industrial design presso la Loughborough University. Le sue competenze gli permettono di operare in varie aree del design, dall’arredamento alla decorazione d’interni, e di seguire le varie fasi dei progetti dalla ricerca e la strategia fino alla realizzazione del prodotto finito. Alla professione di designer affianca una collaborazione con un’importante azienda di design strategy, Plan (www.plan.bz), dove si occupa di individuare nuovi trend. Il suo stile, semplice e qualche volta austero, guarda al futuro con un senso di longevità. I suoi progetti sono stati pubblicati ed esibiti in molti paesi oltre che in Inghilterra. Lo studio Alex Bradley Design si trova nel vivace quartiere di Shoreditch a Londra. Alex Bradley trained in industrial design at Loughborough University and went on to gain experience with both multi-disciplinary consultancies and in-house design teams. His experience encompasses consumer products – interiors, transport, homewares and furniture design – both in the context of design research and strategy and design and development for manufacture. Alex also works for a leading product strategy consultancy Plan (www.plan.bz), where he specialises in design trends and foresight. Alex’s work is not just about functionality. His style, simple and sometimes even austere, looks to the future, with an imbued sense of longevity. Alex is based in Shoreditch, London. His work has been published and exhibited internationally.
NOTCH PLUS Sistema modulare che può essere utilizzato singolarmente oppure abbinato secondo necessità per creare diverse soluzioni d’arredo. Variando l’orientamento dei singoli moduli può essere usato come sgabello, come tavolino – di varie dimensioni – o come una libreria personalizzabile. Può divenire, all’occorrenza, anche un elemento di separazione tra i diversi ambienti del bagno o del resto della casa. Notch Plus is a modular system, which can be used independently or grouped together to create a range of furniture systems. Notch Plus enable users to reconfigure the layout to suite their evolving needs. Whether used individually as side tables, or configured as larger tables or storage units. Users can also customise their solution with the selection of notched or nonotch modules and by orientating the modules in such a way to suit their storage needs. In open spaces, Notch Plus can be utilised as a room divider.
NOTCH Tavolino, sgabello, contenitore dall’estetica semplice ed austera pensato per la lettura. Il suo spazio centrale dentellato consente di riporre le riviste mantenendo aperta la pagina di lettura, così come il ripiano leggermente sollevato permette di poggiare il libro tenendo “il segno”. Questo design si adatta agli stili di vita in continua evoluzione degli individui contemporanei. Un oggetto versatile perfetto per la stanza da bagno, ma anche per qualsiasi altro spazio della casa. The Notch side table and stool has a central space providing an area for storage, while the notch allows a magazine or book to be stored whilst keeping your page. The raised back section provides an area to lay literature open. The design stems from the ritual nature of human behavior, with versatility and longevity at its forefront. It aims to work with the everevolving lifestyles of consumers today, echoed in its simple and austere aesthetic. Notch’s versatility enables it to be placed anywhere in home, ideally suited to the bathroom, bedroom and living areas.
LEAN LEAN MIRROR Questo specchio multifunzione consente di sistemare asciugamani, accappatoi o capi di abbigliamento. Pensato non per sostituire ma per integrare i tradizionali attaccapanni, Lean, grazie alla sua flessibilità che lo rende facilmente spostabile e posizionabile può essere sistemato in qualsiasi spazio della casa. Lean è disponibile anche nella versione senza specchio. This multifunctional mirror & storage surface allows users to hang up towels, bathrobes or items of clothing. It does not aim to replace cupboards but complement it, providing another area for placing & storing their items. Lean can be used in the bathroom, hallway, bedroom or any other area in the house the user deems it to be useful. Lean’s ability to be placed anywhere makes it an extremely versatile and striking addition to any space. Lean is also available in the edition without mirror.
HIROSHI KAWANO
Hiroshi Kawano nasce a Kanagawa, Giappone nel 1971. Si laurea in architettura degli interni presso la Tama University di Tokyo. I suoi lavori sono stati esibiti a Stoccolma, Londra, Colonia, Bonn, Monaco, Parigi e Tokyo. Dal 2007 inizia a collaborare con diverse aziende. La sua lampada Bloom prodotta da Lignet Roset nel 2008 è stata inclusa dalla rivista I.D. fra i più interessanti progetti dell’anno (New+Notable 2008: the year’s smartest products). Hiroshi Kawano was born in Kanagawa, Japan in 1971. He studied interior architecture at Tama Art University, Tokyo. His works have been exhibited in Stockholm, London, Cologne, Bonn, Munich, Paris and Tokyo. Since 2007, he has been working with international companies. His Bloom lamp (produced by Ligne Roset, 2008) was selected as New+Notable 2008 – the year’s smartest products by I.D. magazine.
BON BON Ispirato dalla forma delle tradizionali caramelle dell’Europa occidentale, Bon Bon è un pensile componibile e flessibile. Composto da un sistema di guide a muro sulle quali scorrono diversi contenitori, Bon Bon può essere configurato a piacere e cambiare aspetto ogni giorno, adattandosi a qualsiasi ambiente. Flexible wall mounted system, inspired from traditional sweets in West Europe. Customers can move each shelf and towel holder easily on the rail. Bon Bon is suitable for the bathroom and also for another room.
BIRDIE Questo oggetto dalle linee morbide che rimandano alla forma di un uccello nasce dalla composizione di due fogli di carta. Leggero come un origami, Birdie rappresenta una nuova visione del contenitore che liberandosi dalla verticalitĂ ed orizzontalitĂ , diventa una soluzione ornamentale e al tempo stesso funzionale. The outline of Birdie was picked up from two pieces of paper, I made in January 2009. Originally these pieces were done as a trial for creating new vase. But I found a bird there! Soon I noticed that I should start to design new shelf by using this form. Because I think many shelves/storages are always too rigid, vertical and horizontal. JETHRO MACEY
Jethro Macey è un giovane ma già affermato designer britannico, vincitore dell’Elle Decoration British Design Award 2007. Fin da subito si contraddistingue per la sua attenzione ai particolari e per il suo stile immediatamente riconoscibile. La sua vasta produzione gli ha permesso di crearsi un’ampia rete di collaborazioni con importanti clienti come, per citarne alcuni, Urban Outfitters, Liberty, The Design Museum e Heathrow Terminal 5. Il suo lavoro per Ex-t fonde insieme il gusto per l’estetica contemporanea e la qualità della lavorazione artigianale. Jethro Macey is an award winning British furniture designer (Elle Decoration British Design award 2007). With a strong eye for pattern and fine detailing Macey’s designs have developed a distinct signature style. He has compiled an impressive portfolio of clients since establishing his design practice, including Urban Outfitters, Liberty, The Design Museum and Heathrow Terminal 5. His collaboration with Ex-t brings together a contemporary aesthetic with strong geometric patterning and fine craftsmanship.
TRIO TABLES Elegante ed essenziale, Trio Tables, è la composizione di tre tavolini impilabili composti da una struttura in rovere ed un ripiano in acciaio laccato e traforato con texture dai motivi geometrici. Leggero e versatile, si adatta facilmente a tutti gli spazi della casa. Elegant and essential, Trio Tables is a nest of three tables with geometric screen printed motifs on table top edges. Oak frame with powder coated steel tops.
