GRANT McCANN GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME BACK TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM FOR WHAT SHOULD BE A GOOD GAME AGAINST A SIDE WHO HAVE STARTED THE SEASON VERY WELL. Portsmouth will bring a good number of supporters up from the south coast, and I’m sure that combined with your backing will make for a really good atmosphere. They have had a decent start to the campaign but, as I always say, I want to focus on what we can do to other teams rather than worry too much about them. We controlled the game against Shrewsbury Town for the first 60 minutes on Tuesday night. We strive for a full 90 minute performance, but teams have spells against you and in the end we rode that bit out ok - a draw was probably a fair result.
The games are coming thick and fast, meaning it is important the players recover properly between games. Thank you again for your backing this season, we are in the middle of a busy period and know the commitment in time and finances it takes to be at all our games. It really is appreciated and spurs us all on to deliver for you. Enjoy the game.
I thought the boys responded well after the game at Burton Albion, and certainly controlled the game well for that first hour. We just weren’t able to take one of our chances. But with the quality of attacking players in the squad we know goals will come.

"AT TIMES OUR PLAY IN THOSE OPENING THREE FIXTURES WAS EXHILARATING"
GAVIN BALDWIN GOOD AFTERNOON, AND WELCOME BACK TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM AS WE CONTINUE OUR BUSY RUN OF HOME FIXTURES. I WAS REALLY PLEASED TO SEE OUR NEW FAN PARK SO BUSY BEFORE LAST SATURDAY’S GAME, AND TRUST PLENTY OF YOU WERE ABLE TO TAKE IN THE PRE-MATCH ATMOSPHERE THERE AGAIN TODAY. Our marketing manager Mark Hughesman has worked tirelessly to ensure the fan park becomes a reality. We plan to have these at a number of home Saturday games over the course of the season, so fans can come down and enjoy the matchday atmosphere for as long as possible. With five games of the season played we can feel we have made a good start, and have some real foundations for a good campaign. At times our play in those opening three fixtures was exhilarating, especially in the Carabao Cup win at Scunthorpe. The matches against Burton and Shrewsbury were far tighter affairs, but with a little bit more luck in front of goal we could have been sat here with five straight wins. I would like to congratulate Carl Hall and Ben Lewis from Club Doncaster, who were part of the team which are bidding to bring part of the 2021 Rugby League World Cup to the Keepmoat Stadium. They worked with representatives from Doncaster Council, Business Doncaster and Visit Doncaster - you may have seen some of their inventive marketing such as the video of them submitting the bid itself via the help of the iconic Vulcan plan based at Doncaster Sheffield Airport.
the second stage of the process, which will see a site visit as well as further steps to check our ability to host part of such an event. We have a team based here who are experienced in staging everything from the games of Rovers and the Dons, to hosting senior England internationals, Challenge Cup semi-finals and concerts. I have no doubt that when the tournament organisers visit they will see an impressive venue with all the facilities they need to play a significant role in the event. I would like to offer my thoughts and prayers to the family of Rovers fan Nidge Roe, who at the time of writing is in a serious condition in hospital after an accident earlier this week. Nidge will be a familiar face to many fan and has been a participant in the Fit Rovers course put on by Club Doncaster Foundation, and everyone at the club hopes he pulls through. Enjoy the game.
We found out on Monday that our bid has progressed to

Y N N DA W E R D AN DANNY ANDREW HAS SETTLED BACK INTO THE ROVERS SIDE WITH SOME IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCES SO FAR IN THE 2018/19 CAMPAIGN. His debut season with the club was cut short following a knee injury after just six competitive appearances, and he is now back up to full fitness having played his first 90 minutes in almost a year against Wycombe Wanderers earlier in August. “I have my little goals and completing 90 minutes was another one of those, the first 10 days of the injury allowed me to set myself targets,” he says. “I didn’t want to come off against Southend on the opening day because it was going so well but if I’d stayed on it could have cost us as I couldn’t run. “If I’m honest as it got towards the 80 minute mark against Wycombe I started to tire but compared to the Southend game I felt a lot sharper. “As a team we’ve started the season fairly well under a new manager, we’ve scored a lot of goals and not conceded too many.”

The 27-year-old takes greater care with his body ahead of each game and every day before going out to train at Cantley Park. Extensive work with physiotherapist Joe Sharp ensures his knee is as strong as it needs to be to cope with the physical demands of playing in Sky Bet League One. “I get some treatment before training from the physio and a rub to maintain the muscle usage around the knee, then I’ll go into the gym and do some single leg squats,” he says.
a part in the final third, as well as doing our defensive duties at the other end. “As a new manager coming in it was important for him to get his point across and make the most of a full preseason with the lads. “It’s been good for everyone to know what he wants from us all in our different roles, so we’re all still learning despite our good start.”
“It’s only with light weights just to get the knee warm and ready for going out to train with the lads.
Andrew believes the full-back position is becoming more of an attacking role compared to previous years, especially when looking at the players performing at the top level.
“If the progress in between games then I’ve felt so much better the more game time I’ve had, I feel I’m not far off where I should be.
“The full-backs are influential in the system and in football in general, you have to defend but it’s important to chip in with goals and assists,” he says.
“As long as I stay fit I think that I can keep progressing and building up my fitness and strength so that I’m playing at my best.”
“The position has developed over the past few years, Gary Neville wouldn’t go forward as much as a modern day full-back like Marcelo.
Grant McCann’s favoured 4-3-3 formation gives Andrew and his opposite number at right back Niall Mason the freedom to get forward and express themselves in attack. As a player with the ability to deliver dangerous balls into the box, the former Grimsby Town man is enjoying getting to grips with the new way of playing. “The gaffer wants me and Niall to play really high which we both enjoy doing, we’ve worked on our crosses into the box a lot,” says Andrew. “It gives us a licence to get forward and be able to play

"YOU HAVE TO DEFEND BUT IT’S IMPORTANT TO CHIP IN WITH GOALS AND ASSISTS"
“At times I’m running back and thinking the centre backs have got a lot to do, but that is another indication of players taking more responsibility.” Andrew scored his first Rovers goal earlier this month, as he netted what turned out to be the winner in the 2-1 victory at Scunthorpe United in the Carabao Cup first round. It was a moment which was a long time in the making, and one which he made the most of in front of the travelling Rovers fans. “It was great to get my first goal for the club, it meant a lot to me and it was nice to be able to celebrate in front of our fans behind the goal,” says Andrew. “Myself and Ali Crawford were on the set-pieces at the start of the season and it’s just about where it takes place on the field as we have set routines for a lot of them. “We all know our roles and if I’m asked to take on then I’m more than happy to, I like to think I’ve got a good delivery and can create something.
"THERE IS A REALLY GOOD ATMOSPHERE AROUND THE PLACE AT THE MINUTE AND THAT JUST BREEDS CONFIDENCE INTO ALL THE LADS" “Set-pieces are an asset to a game and it gives us a chance to cause problems for the opposition, you can win and lose games from them at times. “I’ve got the long throw as well which isn’t very pretty but can be very effective, a lot of teams tend to use it because it’s another opportunity to get the ball into the box.” Competition for places within Grant McCann’s squad is strong with almost every player fully fit and ready to play. Andrew has youth team product Danny Amos competing with him for the left-back position, which keeps him on his toes and keen to hold on to his place in the side. “I think everyone is playing really well and there is good competition for places, some really good players have been left out due to the strength in depth we’ve got here,” he adds. “There is a really good atmosphere around the place at the minute and that just breeds confidence into all the lads. “Danny has done really well and is a good player, he’s only 19-years-old and has a great attitude which enables him to learn. I’ve got no doubt that if he listens to the right people and stays with the right crowd then he’s got a long and successful career ahead of him. “Knowing somebody is there waiting keeps that sharpness in your performance and improves your own performance so I’m enjoying it.”

FOUR T PORTSMOUTH
CRAIG MacGILLIVRAY TOP STOPPER
15
The Harrogate-born stopper signed for Pompey this summer, putting pen to paper on a two-year at Fratton Park. After time in non-league with Stalybridge Celtic and hometown team Harrogate Town, MacGillivray made his EFL breakthrough with Walsall in 2014, spending three years in the West Midlands before signing with Shrewsbury Town last season. After struggling to force his way into the starting 11, MacGillivray departed Shropshire for the south coast, signing with Portsmouth and making his debut on the opening day in Pompey’s 1-0 win over Luton Town.
GARETH EVANS MIDFIELD MAESTRO
26
The experienced winger has made over 400 appearances in the EFL and is now in his fourth season at Fratton Park. Evans made his professional debut with hometown club Macclesfield Town in League Two, going on to make 82 league appearances for the Silkmen, scoring 19 goals across two seasons. Spells in Yorkshire with Bradford City and Rotherham United followed, before three seasons with Fleetwood Town, being part of the side that won promotion to League One for the first ever time, alongside Matty Blair, in 2014. Evans joined Pompey in 2015, helping Pompey to the League Two title in 2017, scoring on the final day of that season in a 6-1 win over Cheltenham Town at home.

ISSUE 03 v PORTSMOUTH
O WATCH LEE BROWN DEFENSIVE ROCK
03
The left-back signed a two-year deal with Pompey following seven years with Bristol Rovers. After coming up through the youth system at Queens Park Rangers, Brown made just one appearance for the R’s, joining Hayes &Yeading United on loan, before his move to Bristol in 2011. With the Pirates, Brown would go on to make over 225 appearances, also being selected for the England C team whilst the Gas were in the Conference. Brown played a big part in the Pirates’ back-to-back promotions from the Conference up to League One, scoring the last-minute goal that saw them seal automatic promotion from League Two on the final day in 2016.
BRETT PITMAN DEADLY STRIKER
08
The striker was named captain by Kenny Jackett upon his arrival at Fratton Park in the summer of 2017. Pitman’s professional career began with AFC Bournemouth in 2005, going on to spend five years with the Cherries. Three years with Bristol City followed, before returning to the south coast with Bournemouth, initially on loan, before making the move permanent, and helping them to the Championship title in 2015, with the Cherries reaching the top flight for the first ever time. Pitman joined up with Pompey in July 2017 following two seasons with Ipswich Town, going on to score 24 goals in League One last season, coming second in the divisional goal-scoring chart.

ONE MAN WHO WAS MORE RECENTLY ON THE BOOKS OF POMPEY, BUT SPENT FOUR YEARS IN RED AND WHITE PREVIOUSLY IS KYLE BENNETT, WITH THE WINGER ENJOYING SUCCESSFUL SPELLS WITH BOTH CLUBS. Bennett began his career with Wolverhampton Wanderers, spending 10 years coming up through the ranks at Molineux before making a move to Bury, enjoying one season with the Shakers, scoring twice in their promotions season from League Two. Following this, Bennett made the move across the Pennines to the Keepmoat Stadium, signing an initial two-year deal. His first season with Rovers would end in disappointment however, with Bennett being part of the squad that was relegated from the Championship, alongside Portsmouth, in 2012. His stay in the third tier would be very brief however, with Bennett helping Rovers to the League One title the following season. 2013-14 would see Bennett spend time away from the Keepmoat, with loan spells at Crawley Town and Bradford City in League One, before returning to the Rovers first team the year after, with Rovers themselves now back in the third tier. His final season with Rovers would see him again be a key player, scoring eight times in 42 league games. Bennett made the move south to Portsmouth in 215, scoring twice on his debut, helping Pompey to the League Two play-off semifinal. Once again however, Bennett would go on to become a key figure in a title-winning season, helping Pompey to the League Two title on the final day of the 2016-17 campaign, with Portsmouth going up alongside Rovers. Bennett is now at Bristol Rovers following his departure in the January transfer window, scoring on his first start for the Pirates in a 2-1 win over Oxford United. The second connection between the two clubs is a man who spent loan spells at both Rovers and Pompey, with Frédéric Piquionne featuring at both Fratton Park and the Keepmoat.Piquionne’s professional career really kicked off with Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2001, scoring 18 times in 83 league games, before making a move to Saint-Etienne in 2004. After three years with Les Verts, Piquionne enjoyed his most successful stint in Ligue 1, scoring 12 goals in 46 league games during his time with Monaco.
16
ISSUE 03 v PORTSMOUTH
Piquionne signed for Portsmouth in 2009, spending a season on-loan from Lyon, where he scored 11 goals in all competitions, helping Pompey to their second FA Cup final in three years, scoring in the semi-final victory over Tottenham Hotspur, but he was unable to help them find a way past Chelsea in the final. He remained in the Premier League the following year, signing with West Ham United in 2010, however he was unable to prevent their slide down the top flight, and they were ultimately relegated at the end of the season, his second relegation from the Premier League in two seasons. After struggling to remain in the Hammers’ squad, Piquionne signed on-loan for Rovers in March 2012, scoring a wonder goal from 35 yards out on his debut away at Nottingham Forest in a 2-1 at the City Ground, a game which would see his fellow connection Bennett score the winner. He would score just one more goal however, making eight appearances in total, with the Frenchman unable to save Rovers from relegation. The striker closed out his career in the Indian Super League at Mumbai City, following spells with MLS side Portland Timbers and French third tier side Créteil, as well as international appearances for Martinique between 2012-14, scoring twice in nine games. Alex Gibbings
MEMORABLE MATCH PORTSMOUTH
NOVEMBER 17 2012 Rovers impressive away form continued at Fratton Park as Iain Hume’s first-half strike was enough for three points against Portsmouth, making it three consecutive victories on the road in the process. It was Rovers’ hosts who started the brighter however, with Darel Russell and Brian Howard both seeing efforts go just wide in the game’s opening stages. Rovers would come back however, with Martin Woods keeping Pompey stopper Mikkel Andersen on his toes. The Rovers midfielder’s 25-yard drive looked destined to hit the back of the net, but he could only stand and watch as his shot was tipped over the bar. Pompey came forward again and Izale McLeod was inches away from opening the scoring with 20 minutes gone. He burst into the area unmarked, with the ball swung in from the left, however the striker was only able to find the side netting, and it would be a chance that would go punished just five minutes later.
against the run of play in the eyes of struggling Pompey.
The hosts’ defence was unable to clear the danger down the Rovers’ left, and Woods was able to cross into the area, with Hume lurking in the middle. He managed to squeeze the ball into the near post past Andersen giving the visitors the lead, albeit somewhat
After the break Rovers took control and with three successive corners they could have extended their lead. The first one was cleared behind for another, with Rob Jones rising highest, however the skipper was denied by a great save from Andersen. David
Pompey tried desperately to get back into the game just before the break, with Russell and McLeod both trying their luck, but ending up with the same outcome as Gary Woods made good saves from both attempts on goal.
Cotterill’s third corner in a row then initially caused the Pompey keeper problems, however he eventually gathered, and danger was averted. A late Pompey onslaught came as McLeod continued his personal battle with the Rovers keeper, liftingan effort over Woods from just inside the area, but he couldn’t quite get enough dip on the ball to get it under the bar. Paul Benson’s free-kick from distance was next to challenge the man between the sticks for Rovers, but once again the outcome would be the same, with his strike being well saved by Woods who was in fine form on the South Coast.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? Rovers win at Fratton Park would be the first of four wins in a row, with victories over Carlisle United, Oldham Athletic and rivals Scunthorpe United, before their winning run was halted by a 1-1 draw with Swindon Town. In fact, Rovers would go on to lose just one of their next 10 games, with a strong Christmas throwing them right into the League One title mix come the beginning of January. Rovers sat top of the table from the end of February, right until the penultimate day after defeat at home to Notts County. However, a dramatic win at Brentford that will live long in the memory of all Rovers fans would see them clinch the League One title on the final day of the season. For Portsmouth, this would be their fifth defeat in a row, and it also came in the middle of a run which saw them fail to win in 23 attempts in all competitions, with a 2-1 win a Crewe Alexandra stopping the rot. Relegation was inevitable for troubled Pompey, and even with the 10-point deduction imposed on them, they would still be in League Two the following year. Four seasons in the fourth tier followed, but they were promoted back to League Two in 2017, winning the title on the final day with a 6-1 win over Cheltenham Town.

NUMBERS GAME LEFT-BACKS, OR AT LEAST LEFT SIDED DEFENDERS MAKE UP ALMOST OUR ENTIRE GALLERY OF WEARERS OF THE NO. 3 SHIRT. TIM RYAN OFTEN SPORTED THE NO. 3 BEFORE THE INTRODUCTION OF SQUAD NUMBERS IN 2002-03, ALTHOUGH THE DEFENDER, SIGNED FROM SOUTHPORT IN 2000 OFTEN PLAYED IN CENTRAL DEFENCE. Indeed, for much of the 2002-03 season he was Steve Foster’s partner in the middle of the defence, only moving to left-back late in the season. Having played there in the successful Promotion Final that took Rovers back into the Football League, Ryan remained there as part of a defence which helped Rovers to the Division Three title for 2003-04. Popular with fans because of his robust tackling and fearless approach he also earned a reputation for long-distance shooting and scored some spectacular goals. He left Rovers during an injury-hit 2005-06 season, moving to Peterborough United, but he now works for Club Doncaster Foundation. For the remainder of 2005-06, on-loan midfielder KEVIN HORLOCK took the No. 3 shirt, but in the summer of 2006 Rovers signed arguably the best player to wear this particular shirt in recent times. GARETH ROBERTS, who started his career at Liverpool and had won 9 caps for Wales, joined from Tranmere Rovers. Initially he struggled against pacy wingers and high balls aimed in his direction, but he adapted well and became a cornerstone of Rovers’ successes under manager Sean O’Driscoll. A member of the side that won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in 2006-07, and which won the League One PlayOff Final the following season, he adapted well to football in the Championship. Indeed his performances attracted other clubs and he joined Derby County in May 2010. In all, he made 165 appearances for Rovers, scoring eight goals. To replace the departing Roberts, O’Driscoll recruited GEORGE FRIEND, born in Devon but playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers. Like Tim Ryan, Friend could operate at centre-back and after the arrival of Tommy Spurr in 201112 he increasingly played there. He helped Rovers stay in the Championship in 2010-11 but was unable to prevent relegation a season later, by which time Dean Saunders had
replaced O’Driscoll in the hot seat. Friend’s performances had earned many admirers and he moved on the Middlesbrough in 2012 for a fee of around £100,000. He has made over 200 appearances for the Teesiders and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League for 2016-17. He is Middlesbrough’s club captain. 18-year-old JAMES HUSBAND, who had made his debut towards the end of the 2011-12 campaign, was given the No. 3 shirt for 2012-13. He made 33 League appearances that season, covering Tommy Spurr in the left-back position and playing there when Spurr was operating in central defence. Rovers won the League One title in dramatic fashion on the final day of the season, and with Spurr leaving the club Husband started the 2013-14 season as first choice left back. He did lose his place for a time to on-loan Enda Stevens and before the start of the 2014-15 season, with Rovers back in League One, he was transferred to Middlesbrough in a deal that saw Curtis Main move in the opposite direction. Since then CEDRIC EVINA (2014-16), TYLER GARRATT (2016-17) and DANNY ANDREW, the current incumbent, have worn the No. 3 shirt. Andrew looked an excellent acquisition in the early part of last season after arriving from Grimsby Town. Unfortunately his season was cut short by a knee injury and Rovers struggled to replace him in the left-back role. Fully fit again, a big season beckons for Rovers latest No. 3. JOHN COYLE

KIERAN SCARFF OUR YOUTH TEAM HAVE CONTINUED THEIR EXCELLENT FORM. A 3-2 WIN OVER NOTTS COUNTY LAST WEEKEND CONTINUED THEIR UNBEATEN START TO THE CAMPAIGN (IT IS NOW 12 GAMES UNBEATEN WHEN WE INCLUDE THE WINNING RUN AT THE END OF LAST SEASON). THIS WIN SAW THE SQUAD MOVE TO THE TOP OF THE YOUTH ALLIANCE LEAGUE AND SETS A CHALLENGE FOR THE PLAYERS AS CONFIDENCE AND EXPECTATIONS RISE. The rest of my notes have been handed over to Tony Mee, our lead youth development phase coach. Tony organised teams to compete in the Youdan Trophy recently. It is vital we continue to expose our players to a
variety of challenges and opposition and thanks to Tony’s commitment, along with the support of our part-time coaching and medical staff, a number of players were able to experience such challenges.
Good luck to the gaffer, the staff and the players tonight.
YOUDAN TROPHY 2018 The Academy entered two teams into this year’s Youdan Trophy over the weekend of August 3-6, in the U16 and U14 categories, although because it is an international (year of birth tournament) our teams were put together from our Under 13 to Under 15 age groups. The tournament, in it's third year, is held in Sheffield and features some of the top teams from across the world, including Europe, Asia and North America. The Youdan Trophy commemorates the oldest football tournament in the world – the Football Challenge Cup presented by Thomas Youdan Esq. that pre-dates the FA Cup by a full four years and was played only once at Bramall Lane in 1867. Both teams played six games in four days across one of the hottest weekends of the year and, despite a mixed set of results, produced some excellent football, particularly as the teams hadn’t played together before (a mixed 14s and 15s team with 2 U16s as overage players and a mixed 13s and 14s team with some of the 13s getting their first taste of 11-a-side football). The younger boys opened their tournament with an excellent
performance against Sheffield United drawing 0-0, whilst the older group suffered a chastening 5-0 defeat to a much older Sheffield Wednesday team, who would go on to win the tournament. On Day 2 our team’s fortunes were reversed, with the younger boys suffering 2 defeats to Charlton Athletic and Seattle Sounders, who would progress to meet each other in the final. The older boys then beat Global Premier Soccer (Maine) 2-0, then get a 1-1 draw against Maiden City (Ireland) after playing all except the first minute with 10 men after a last man foul resulted in a red card. On Day 3, the younger boys started with a narrow defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, 1-0, before bouncing back with an excellent 7-2 win over Leeds United. Meaning a final game against Sheffield United on day four. Another excellent performance ensued but despite taking the game to extra-time, Sheffield United triumphed with a goal a minute from time. Under 14 player, Sam Cullingworth, was nominated as one of the Players of the Tournament but was pipped by one of the Seattle Sounders players.
and then lost by the same score in a rematch with Maiden City. The final game, on day four, was another disappointment and, with the side weakened due to injuries, lost to ANB Futbol from Canada. All players were a credit to the club, the Academy and their parents with their effort and application. They will have gained great experience in both winning and losing and being exposed to different competition from their opponents over a gruelling four days. Also thanks to coaches Don Cotton and Richard Anderson and physio Clare Swindell for supporting the boys over the weekend.
The older group were to have a much tougher day three, and despite a good performance lost to Leeds United 4-1

COMMERCIAL GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM. After a confidence boost following an impressive performance from the Doncaster Rovers squad at the beginning of the 2018/19 season, hopefully this confidence will carry through to today’s fixture where we welcome Kenny Jackett and the Portsmouth squad for what we anticipate to be an exhilarating match with both teams looking for a win. Let’s bring the same confident mind-set which has brought us great success so far to the game today and get behind the team as they fight for more points. This afternoon’s match sponsors are LNER, who are our Platinum+ Partners and take pride of place on the front of our home and away shirts as well as training kit. Our partnership with them goes far beyond just that, as seen with the 25 per cent off travel on pre-booked tickets available to all Season Members through the DNA Card.
DANIEL CALOW AND FRIENDS WERE MATCH SPONSORS AGAINST SHREWSBURY TOWN
Tuesday’s fixture against Shrewsbury Town saw Daniel Calow and friends as match sponsor. Celebrating his 11th birthday, Daniel and friends enjoyed a VIP tour of the stadium, three course dining in the Jibba Jabba restaurant, drinks reception and Man of the Match presentations following the game. The club has a long association with Daniel and friends through his father Darren Calow, a supporter of the club and owner of DC Training and Development services. If you would like to explore the vast match sponsorship opportunities and commercial possibilities that can help your business at Club Doncaster email commericial@ clubdoncaster.co.uk or call 01302 764665 to speak to a member of the team. We look forward to finding out who tonight’s supporters choose for the Signum Legends Club Man of the Match!

SAFETY Three points is not the only priority today. Making sure everyone goes home safe is the most important result. Over recent months we have been working closely with the police and the EFL to review security at the Keepmoat Stadium. Now we are asking you to do your bit. It is vital that everyone - players, staff and supporters - remains vigilant and reports any concerns to stewards or police. Attacks might be rare, and the chance of you being caught up in one unlikely, but the message is ACT #ActionCountersTerrorism. Rovers safety officer Sam Ramsdan said:
AD-105x148-Football Foundation.indd 1
"We want everyone to enjoy today’s game at the Keepmoat Stadium but if you see anything that causes you concern, tell a steward or staff member. Please do not worry that you might be wasting our time. "The stewards are here to help keep us all safe so please be patient and cooperate with their instructions. When it comes to security it has to be a team effort and we are all players." Here's a quick reminder of what you can do to help keep yourself and others safe: • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks • Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground
• Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away • If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999 • In an emergency, listen to the public address instructions and follow them • If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile • Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles • Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates To find out more, visit gov.uk/ACT or @TerrorismPolice

SUPPORTER LIAISON OFFICER DEAN MEDCALF GOOD AFTERNOON LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AND A WARM WELCOME TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM A WARM WELCOME TO THE VISITING FANS FROM PORTSMOUTH. A few weeks ago I explained how the SLO role works to the benefit of the Rovers fans, this week I would like to talk about the work that we do before, during and after the game with the visiting fans. A week or so before a home game, I look to join and sign up for Facebook and forums of the visiting team. Once I have access I use this opportunity to pass on key information that will help the away fans get the most out of their visit to the Keepmoat Stadium. I explain where they can purchase tickets from on the day, information about car parking, I tell them about the Belle Vue Bar, about the away family end (which I will go into more detail in another programme) and also share a link to our away fans guide. I receive some fantastic feedback from these posts and it would be great if every club could do the same. One of the main comments I get back is that my post makes them feel welcomed and that they feel the club care about away fans. We have all been to away games where it feels like the home don’t care about us away fans and I feel that by doing this not only does it show we value away supporters but encourages a few more of them to travel. I also email all this information over to the visiting club's SLO and again I get some great feedback about this. Some
clubs, Exeter and Walsall for example, have posted this information on their main website to help reach a wider range of away fans. When the away fans arrive at the ground, Sheila will meet the fans of the coach and point them in the direction of the Belle Vue Bar, the turnstiles and where they can collect or purchase tickets. At half-time, Sheila will also make her way into the away end to chat and gather some feedback from the away fans. After the games, I use the Facebook groups and forums again to post a thank you message to the travelling fans and also ask for their feedback regarding their visit. From the Wycombe game, we received some fantastic feedback. People
were expressing how friendly and welcoming the stewards are in the away end, how much they enjoyed the Fans Park and how much their kids enjoyed the away family section and games. We do occasionally receive some negative feedback and when we do I work closely with the club to find a solution to improve the match day experience for visiting fans. As always if you have any questions then please contact me on the usual SLO social media accounts, @SLO_DRFC on twitter, DRFC SLO on Facebook or email me at dean. medcalf@clubdoncaster.co.uk. I hope you all enjoy tonight’s game. Rovers Till I Die Dean Medcalf Supporter Liaison Officer

FOUNDATION UP
Staff at Club Doncaster Foundation and Club Doncaster Sports College supported Cycle to Work Day last week by swapping four wheels for two. The team borrowed bikes from the foundation’s free bike library and cycled to the Keepmoat Stadium, reducing their carbon footprint and increasing their physical activity. Cycle to Work Day is the UK’s biggest cycle commuting event, seeing thousands of enthusiasts getting on their bikes since 2012. Health and wellbeing officer Nick Gillott said: “We’re very proud to be supporting Cycle to Work Day and it’s great to see that so many of the staff are on board with the initiative after planning the event. “Some used their own bikes, but the majority borrowed a bike from our bike library, which is free for the public to use and is such an effective and cheap alternative transport. “I’m hoping that they begin to borrow the bikes more

often for their commute, especially the ones that live close as it’s a great way to stay in shape and reduce your carbon footprint, not to mention the amount of money saved in petrol.” 354,830 miles have been pledged for Cycle to Work Day, and you too can pledge your miles and contribute to the fantastic effort by recording them on their website. Club Doncaster Foundation’s bike library is open to the public, and allows anyone to borrow a bike, free of charge. There are a range of bikes available including children’s bikes and trailers and equipment such as helmets too. The Foundation offer a number of different schemes throughout the year, such as Cleats for Seats, which allows people from across the borough the chance to ride from home to the Keepmoat Stadium on a matchday, in exchange for complimentary tickets to watch Doncaster Rovers. For more information about the bike library, contact the team on 01302 764663.
DATE An incredible £1,819.47 has been raised by one of NCS Doncaster’s social action groups to raise money for a new CT scanner.
“DCDT is so grateful to groups like this, who help raise vital funds. We really wouldn’t be able to do the great work that we do without it.”
The group hosted a tombola filled with must-have prizes, a face painting stand and a stall of fun carnival style games, all based atthw Frenchgate Centre to raise as much as they could for the Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust (DCDT).
Prizes in the tombola included a signed Rovers football, food vouchers and lots of designer goodies.
The money will be put towards a new CT scanner, which will prove to be vital in the journey to beating cancer. DCDT trustee Yvonne Woodcock said: “I cannot believe how fantastic these young people have been, and how utterly devoted they have been to making a difference. “There is often a misconception about young people of today and this group have made such a fantastic reputation for themselves in the community, for their passion and how willing they were to help. They are a credit to Club Doncaster, NCS and their families.
Team leader Hannah Purdy added: “This group have gone above and beyond planning and delivering this project and it’s fantastic to reap the rewards. "I don’t think anyone expected us to raise so much money, but it’s such a great feeling to be able to hand such a fantastic charity almost £2,000. “Each young person on this group have loved this NCS experience, all three weeks have been completely different but have challenged them and gave them such a great summer, so it was so good to finish the programme off on such a high.” For more information about NCS, contact the team on 01302 764663, or via the website on https:// clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk/ncs.
