"IT WAS PROBABLY THE BEST TRAVELLING SUPPORT I’VE SEEN WHILE I’VE BEEN HERE, AND IT DEFINITELY HELPED DRIVE THE LADS ON"
GRANT McCANN GOOD EVENING, AND WELCOME BACK TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM FOR THIS EVENING’S GAME AGAINST BLACKPOOL. We are looking to build on what was a fantastic performance at Oakwell on Saturday. We were frustrated to not come away with all three points, but our performance typified what we want to be about: we went there to get on the front foot and took the game to them in a way no one else has at their place this season. We regrouped well after conceding the equaliser, and I felt we controlled a good chunk of the game. The boys deserve plenty of credit for the application, which ensured another positive result to build on the wins over AFC Wimbledon and Chorley. With close to 2,000 Rovers fans there, your backing really did make a difference. It was probably the best travelling support I’ve seen while I’ve been here, and it definitely helped drive the lads on.
tonight in good form and on the back of a win, but we have a good run of home fixtures now and see it as a real opportunity to establish ourselves in the play-off picture. This evening is the club’s rainbow laces fixture, with different corner flags and captain’s armband to mark that occasion. You’ll also see a number of players and staff wearing the rainbow laces in their boots or shoes - we want everyone to be welcome at this club, regardless of gender, sexuality, race or ethnicity. At the end of the day, we are all Rovers. Enjoy the game.
We are under no illusions about how tough all games in League One can be, and Blackpool come here

GAVIN BALDWIN GOOD EVENING. I’D LIKE TO WELCOME THE SUPPORTERS, OWNERS, PLAYERS AND STAFF WHO HAVE TRAVELLED FROM THE WEST COAST TONIGHT. EVERYONE AT ROVERS WISHES THEM ALL A SAFE JOURNEY HOME AFTER THE GAME. I have to start by echoing the thoughts of Grant McCann in praising the support at Oakwell on Saturday. With nearly 2,000 supporters there, it sounded like much more and we certainly made the most noise. It shows what potential everyone can see in this squad in that we are disappointed to have to settle for a point away at a team who have not lost at home all season. We’ve shown against Peterborough, Portsmouth, Sunderland and now Barnsley that we can really compete against the best in this division - with some more clinical finishing, or a bit more luck, we could have taken the points against these sides which would have us firmly entrenched in the play-off places. A couple of weeks ago I joined Jim Lord from the Club Doncaster Foundation to drop in to the latest Fit Rovers course here at the Keepmoat Stadium. It was fantastic to see first-hand just what an impact Nick Gillott, Scott Copeland and the rest of the team are making. I was really impressed with the team spirit from everyone on the course, and the results speak for themselves. We are very proud of the success of the course, and the 10th group of people to go through the scheme have lost a record amount of weight. Course ambassador Matty Blair joined them last Thursday to see the results for himself - having been there on their opening session when he helped with their initial measurements. Read more about the incredible success
of Fit Rovers on the Foundation pages later in the programme. This evening is the club’s rainbow laces fixture, and I know several players and staff will be wearing the rainbow laces tonight as part of the campaign. We know that people can perceive barriers to attending matches based on their gender, sexuality, race or ethnicity - here at Rovers we strive to ensure there are no barriers to anyone attending our games. The form from the opening part of the season gives us real hope for the second half of the campaign, and a Half Season Membership is the most cost effective way of coming to all games - get yours now from tickets. clubdoncaster.co.uk. I also know our marketing team are planning on a series of advent offers to build on the success of our campaign last December. There will be loads of bargains if you’re looking for Christmas presents for the Rovers fan in your life - look out on our official website and social media from December 1 for more details. Enjoy the game.

IAN R O L LAW EVEN WHEN HE WASN’T IN THE ROVERS STARTING XI, IAN LAWLOR WAS WORKING HARD IN TRAINING TO MAKE SURE HE WAS READY WHEN THE FIRST-TEAM CALL CAME HIS WAY. The Irish keeper had to wait until November 17 for his first league start of the season, and says he kept his standards high throughout a tough period. “It’s been really good being back in the team, it was a tough period out of the team but I’ve supported Marko all the way and that is always the same,” he says. “The intensity and level we play at in the league is totally different to the development games, I’ve been keeping my head down and working hard. “Whether I’m playing or not playing I won’t change as a person, I’ll keep my standards high and be ready when I’m called upon. “I’m not the type of person to spit my dummy out when things aren’t going my way, I’m a team player and I want the team to do well.”

Despite not featuring in the league until earlier this month, Lawlor started a combined four times in the Carabao Cup, Checkatrade Trophy and FA Cup respectively before that. After Rovers’ strong start to the season saw them climb as high as third in September, he says he was happy to wait for his chance in the side to arrive. “It’s not about individuals, we are all striving towards the same goal and that is to get out of this league as quickly as possible,” he says. “It’s been tough but that’s football, managers come and managers go and they have different opinions but you have to get on with it. “It’s made me a more mature person and helped me to deal with situations better, it helps you to develop on and off the field. “Being a goalkeeper there is only one position you can take on the field, if there is a dip in form or an injury then you’re in but other than that you have to bide your time. “I just kept telling myself that I needed to keep my standards high and make sure the manager knew I was capable of coming straight in.” Since arriving at the club, manager Grant McCann has always praised the level of goalkeepers at the club. Lawlor is battling it out with Marko Marosi and Louis

Jones for the No.1 spot, with all three pushing each other to keep improving. “No matter who plays, all the goalkeepers support each other. We’re all great friends and that won’t change,” he says. “Since pre-season Marko has been unbelievable and I’ve got great respect for him as a person and as a goalkeeper, I had nothing to complain about because the team were flying. “I’m determined to keep my place now I’ve won it back, I’ve sampled being out of the team and it isn’t nice so I want to keep improving. “I’m just happy to be back in the team and doing what

I love, I know I need to be at the races every day in training to be in the team on a Saturday afternoon or a Tuesday night. “Before I came back in the manager told me I was going to start, he said he knew what I could do and that he wanted me to work hard and set my own standards.” The 24-year-old has now started five straight games in all competitions for Rovers in the space of two weeks, the highlight of which a 7-0 victory over Chorley in the FA Cup. He believes having so many games in a short space of time will help him to keep improving, and get back to the form which he showed in his first 12 months with the club. “It’s good that I’ve had a good few games in quick succession, you don’t want to go too long without playing as it allows me to find that consistency,” says Lawlor. “I feel like I’m improving each game, it will take me a couple of games to get back up to speed with things but I’m on the right path. “We all train together every day and work hard in our
"IT WILL TAKE ME A COUPLE OF GAMES TO GET BACK UP TO SPEED WITH THINGS BUT I’M ON THE RIGHT PATH" units so I know the players that are playing in front of me. “As a defensive units you pride yourselves on clean sheets, if you get a clean sheet at one end then it gives us a great chance to win the game. “Chorley gave us a tough game and we had to be at our best, we couldn’t switch off at any time even when we were comfortable. It was just as pleasing to get the clean sheet as it was to score seven for me personally, it helps our confidence massively.” It was during the Christmas period last year where Rovers put their best run of results together during the Sky Bet League One campaign. With games against fellow top six contenders coming up over the next month or so, Lawlor reckons it could again be key to their chances of having a successful season. “We’ve got some really tough games coming up, the quality in this league is really high now and we’re fully focused on picking up more points,” he adds. “Every team will go through little sticky patches over the course of a season, so it’s important to stick together and work hard to come through the other side of that. “In football the Christmas period is a big time of the year in terms of managing to pick up results, if you take your chances then it can help you climb the table. “We had a good run over Christmas last season and won three games on the bounce, it can really help you to kick on. “It’s three or four games in the space of a few days so it’s a really quick turnaround but something as players that we really enjoy.”

FOUR TO BLACKPOOL
MARK HOWARD TOP STOPPER
01
The experienced stopper joined the Tangerines ahead of the start of this season following two years with Bolton Wanderers. Howard began his career with Arsenal, though he is probably more well-known for his four years with Sheffield United, where he also holds the record for the most consecutive clean sheets for the club, having kept eight during the 2013/14 campaign. Howard most recently spent time with Bolton, helping to keep the Trotters in the Championship on the final day of last season, before his switch to Bloomfield Road, claiming the number one spot immediately upon his arrival.
JAY SPEARING MIDFIELD MAESTRO
08
The midfielder is a man with Premier League experience, making 30 appearances for Liverpool after coming through the Reds youth academy. He made his Liverpool debut in December 2008, coming on as a substitute against Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League, going on to agree a new three-year deal on Merseyside at the end of the 2009/09 season. Spearing left Anfield after a 16-year association with the club, signing for Bolton Wanderers in 2013 after a loan spell the season before. He joined Blackpool in October 2017, initially until the end of the season before extending his contract at Bloomfield Road, and scored his first two Blackpool goals against Bradford City in September this year.

TO WATCH OLIVER TURTON DEFENSIVE ROCK
20
The former Crewe Alexandra man joined the Tangerines back in the summer of 2017, signing a two-year deal with the club. Turton spent 15 years in total with Crewe, making close to 200 appearances for the Alex, helping them to win the Football League Trophy in 2013, as well as promotion from League Two the year before. After his lengthy time with Crewe, he joined Blackpool ahead of their return to League One, making 41 appearances for the Pool and scoring once, with his solitary strike coming in the 3-3 thriller at the Keepmoat Stadium back in August 2017, with a spectacular curling effort to make it 2-2.
MARK CULLEN DEADLY STRIKER
09
The striker signed for Blackpool in 2015 signing an initial three-year deal, which was extended over the summer. It was Cullen’s goal in the play-off final over Exeter City which would seal the Tangerines promotion back to League One after scoring nine league goals during the regular campaign. Prior to his time at Bloomfield Road, Cullen started his career at Hull City, scoring in the Premier League once for the Tigers, before making a permanent move to Luton Town in 2013, where after scoring 21 league goals in 71 games, and helping them to the Conference Premier title in 2014, he joined the Tangerines.

TWO PLAYERS WHO HAVE SPENT TIME ON LOAN AT BOTH CLUBS MAKE UP THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THE TWO SIDES, WITH JAY EMMANUEL-THOMAS THE FIRST TO SPEND TEMPORARY SPELLS AT BOTH BLOOMFIELD ROAD AND THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM. Both loan moves came whilst the attacking midfielder was on the books at Arsenal, spending 13 years in all in North London with the Gunners, making just five appearances at the Emirates Stadium. Emmanuel-Thomas’ first of three loan moves away from the Premier League side came with Blackpool, making 11 appearances for the Tangerines in the Championship, spending much of the first half of the season at Bloomfield Road. The end of this season would see Blackpool promoted to the Premier League for the first time following a play-off final victory over Cardiff City at Wembley Stadium. For the second half of the 2009/10 season however, Emmanuel-Thomas would spend time at the Keepmoat Stadium, making 14 appearances for Rovers, scoring five times, including twice against Bristol City on his first start for the club in a 5-2 away victory, as well as the winner in a 2-1 win over Derby County. Rovers would go on to finish 12th in the second tier in what would be an impressive season for both Emmanuel-Thomas and Rovers. After a short period on loan at Cardiff the following season, Emmanuel-Thomas made a permanent move to Ipswich Town, spending two seasons with the Tractor Boys, before signing for then-League One side Bristol City. With the Robins, he helped them to a league and Football League Trophy double, scoring 21 goals in all competitions in his first season. He signed for Queens Park Rangers in 2015, but after struggling to get into the first team at Loftus Road, he signed loan deals with both Milton Keynes and Gillingham before his release from the Championship club in the summer. The second loan connection between the two clubs is JOHN LUNDSTRAM, with the midfielder making his first ever start in senior football whilst with Rovers in 2013, signing on loan from Premier League side Everton with Rovers looking to earn promotion from League One. Lundstram made 14 league appearances for Rovers, playing on the final day in the 1-0 win at Brentford to secure the League One title, before making another loan move to Yeovil Town the following season, with the Glovers following

Rovers into the Championship following their play-off success. Lundstram would also spend two loan spells with Leyton Orient, helping them to the League One play-off final which would ultimately be unsuccessful despite the midfielder scoring his penalty in the shoot-out against Rotherham United in 2014. A move to Blackpool would be sandwiched in between his two spells with the O’s, with Lundstram making 17 league appearances for the Tangerines as they aimed to stay in the Championship. He signed a permanent deal with Oxford United in 2015, helping the U’s to secure promotion as runners-up from League Two in his first season, and in his second campaign was named as their captain at the age of just 22, guiding them to the Football League Trophy final in 2017, however they lost out to Coventry City at Wembley in the final. The midfielder left Oxford shortly after their defeat, signing for newly-promoted Sheffield United upon their return to the Championship, signing a three-year deal with the Blades and taking the number seven shirt. Lundstram also has international appearances for England at various youth levels, making 31 appearances from under-17 level through to the under-20’s, scoring twice for the under-19’s. Alex Gibbings
MEMORABLE MATCH BLACKPOOL
OCTOBER 31 2009 A thrilling game at the Keepmoat Stadium saw the points shared by both teams in a six-goal thriller during Rovers second season in the Championship. Martin Woods got Rovers off to a flyer inside the opening five minutes of the game, as he slotted past Matt Gilks for the opening goal of the afternoon. John Oster’s surge down the righthand side saw him create space to get a cross into the area, and the skipper for the day Woods met the ball and guided his first-time effort low into the corner to hand Rovers the lead early on. Blackpool weathered the Rovers storm after that, and they were back level 15 minutes later, as David Vaughan’s corner in wasn’t dealt with at all well by the Rovers defence. Ian Evatt rose highest to meet the setpiece, and his header was flicked into the back of the net by Brett Ormerod, on cue from two yards out with a real poacher’s finish to put the Tangerines level. After the quick start of the first half, there was more of the same after the break, as Rovers went back in front immediately after the restart. 19 seconds would be all it took for Billy Sharp to get his first of the afternoon as Gareth Roberts found space down the left straight away, and he crossed in for Sharp to tap home.
It wouldn’t be long though before the Seasiders were back on level terms, and it would be a piece of brilliance from future Rovers loanee Jay Emmanuel-Thomas that did it for them. He danced his way through the Rovers defence with ease, shielding the ball away from four defenders, before picking his spot low in Neil Sullivan’s far corner to level the scores once more. 10 minutes later and Blackpool would be in front, with yet another superb finish putting them ahead. Alex
Baptiste’s surge forward saw him able to release Ben Burgess, and he took a touch before curling over Sullivan and into the top corner from 25 yards out, with a goal that would normally be worthy of winning any game. However, it would be Sharp that had the last laugh as the game approached injury time. He collected the ball from James Hayter’s knock down to beat the offside trap and slot home an equaliser in what was a Halloween thriller at the Keepmoat Stadium.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? Rovers finished their second season in the Championship in 12th place, unable to make a late charge towards the play-offs, despite being well positioned in the early stages of the season. This would also be their highest position in their first four years in the second tier for over 50 years. Blackpool on the other hand had a dream season, as they secured Premier League football for the very first time via the playoffs. They finished sixth on the final day, with Rovers doing them a favour by holding Swansea City to a goalless draw at the Liberty Stadium, with the Tangerines drawing 1-1 with Bristol City. They went on to beat Nottingham Forest 6-4 on aggregate, setting up a Wembley Stadium final against Cardiff City. Goals from Charlie Adam, Gary Taylor-Fletcher and Brett Ormerod secured top-flight football for Iain Holloway’s men for the first time since 1971.

NUMBERS GAME UNFULFILLED PROMISE IS PERHAPS THE KEY THEME WHEN WE LOOK AT THE PLAYERS WHO HAVE WORN THE NUMBER 10 SHIRT SINCE ROVERS FIRST ALLOCATED SQUAD NUMBERS BACK IN 2002. THAT SAID, THERE HAVE BEEN A ONE OR TWO NUMBER TENS WHO HAVE MADE SIGNIFICANT CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE ROVERS’ CAUSE, INCLUDING THE CURRENT INCUMBENT. At the start of the 2002-03 campaign, the shirt was given to JUSTIN JACKSON, who had arrived from Morecambe a year earlier with a huge reputation as a goal scorer. Sadly he could not reproduce this at Belle Vue, and scored only five goals in 39 Conference appearances. Nevertheless, Rovers were promoted back to the Football League at the end of the season, but Jackson moved to Accrington Stanley. His replacement at 10, another former Morecambe man ADRIANO RIGOGLIOSO (2003-06) was arguably a bigger disappointment, although he is remembered for his only Rovers goal, a spectacular strike in a Football League Trophy game at Hereford in 2004-05.
BILLY SHARP (2010-12) was rather incongruously given the No. 5 shirt when he arrived on loan from Sheffield United in August 2009. When his move became permanent nearly a year later he wore the No. 10 shirt with which he is still closely associated. A proven goal scorer, Sharp struck 41 times in 86 appearances for Rovers over the best part of three seasons before moving to Southampton in January 2012. A further spell at the Keepmoat Stadium in 2013-14, when he also wore the No. 10, saw him add four more goals in 16 games, but he couldn’t save Rovers from relegation from the Championship.
Strikers ALUN ARMSTRONG (2006), BRUCE DYER (2006-07) and GARETH TAYLOR (2008-09) all wore the No. 10 without making major contributions, although Dyer’s promising start was cut short by injury. For the 2009-10 season midfielder JOHN SPICER, who had worn No. 20 the season before after joining from Burnley, took over the No. 10. Spicer helped Rovers to a final Championship placing of 12th and for 2010-11 he passed on the shirt to someone who made an even bigger contribution to Rovers success.
Sharp’s departure allowed the enigmatic EL-HADJI DIOUF (2012) to abandon his original shirt number (19) and don the No. 10. Although coming to the end of a career which had seen him represent Senegal in the World Cup Finals, Diouf showed evidence of his talents and scored six times in the 2011-12 season. He was one of several players brought in by agent Willie McKay in the controversial “experiment” but Diouf was one of the few successes and Rovers were relegated at the end of the season. For 2012-13 the No. 10 passed to the experienced ROBBIE BLAKE, whose impact on Rovers’ League One Title campaign was rather limited. FEDERICO MACHEDA (2013), a striker on loan from Manchester United preceded Sharp’s return and scored three times for Rovers, although his goal against the club when he was on loan at Birmingham City in the second half of the 2013-14 probably had most impact. Rovers’ 3-1 home defeat to Birmingham in April 2014 went a long way towards condemning them to a speedy return to League One. Another mercurial talent, HARRY FORRESTER (2014-16) showed flashes of brilliance during his spell at the club, but at other times failed to live up to his potential. He moved to Rangers in January 2016 and was briefly succeeded by Sunderland loanee LYNDEN GOOCH (2016). At the start of the 2016-17 season TOMMY ROWE, signed from Peterborough United after an impressive loan spell in which he wore No. 24, was assigned the Number 10. Rowe helped Rovers back into League One at the first time of asking and is now team captain. JOHN COYLE

KIERAN SCARFF WE, LIKE ALL ACADEMIES, RECEIVE EXCELLENT SUPPORT FROM THE FOOTBLL ASSOCIATION, THE EFL AND LEAGUE FOOTBALL EDUCATION. We receive exceptional support from Chris Sulley. Chris is a very experienced coach developer who provides regular support to our coach development programme. Chris spends a lot of his time working alongside Tony Cook to continuously support all of our Academy coaches. As I have said before, the development of our coaches is always a huge focus for us and Chris plays a key role in this area.

Pat provides support for the youth team players; reviewing their academic and football progress on a regular basis and that the support they receive is at the required standard. In addition, Pat ensures our young players have access to a wide range of lifeskills support to aid their development as positive role models.
Adie Shaw, from the EFL, visits us regularly to monitor the effectiveness of the academy programme and to support and guide our desire to be continually improving. Adie’s experience and knowledge is very much appreciated and a vital source of support throughout every season.
The experience and expertise of these staff is always much appreciated and vitally important in ensuring our academy programme continues to be the best it possibly can.
Pat Lally is someone who will be remembered by some of our older supporters. Pat made 122 appearances for the club between 1978 and 1982. He has worked for many years for both the PFA and League Football Education. Through his role with LFE, Pat works very

Hello everyone! Welcome to our evening game against Blackpool. Last week we beat Chorley 7-0 to make the second round of the FA Cup where we will play at Charlton. I am getting ready for Christmas now; hope you like my photo in the Club Shop with their Christmas tree. My little puppy dogs are due back in the shop soon so if you haven’t got one add to your list for Santa. I said goodbye to Ryan from our media department who left last week and made sure I got a photo for my collection.
Enjoy the game! Donny Dog DONCASTERROVERSFC.CO.UK

SAFETY Three points is not the only priority today. Making sure everyone goes home safe is the most important result. Over recent months we have been working closely with the police and the EFL to review security at the Keepmoat Stadium. Now we are asking you to do your bit. It is vital that everyone - players, staff and supporters - remains vigilant and reports any concerns to stewards or police. Attacks might be rare, and the chance of you being caught up in one unlikely, but the message is ACT #ActionCountersTerrorism. Rovers safety officer Sam Ramsden said:
AD-105x148-Football Foundation.indd 1
"We want everyone to enjoy today’s game at the Keepmoat Stadium but if you see anything that causes you concern, tell a steward or staff member. Please do not worry that you might be wasting our time. "The stewards are here to help keep us all safe so please be patient and cooperate with their instructions. When it comes to security it has to be a team effort and we are all players." Here's a quick reminder of what you can do to help keep yourself and others safe: • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks • Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground
• Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away • If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999 • In an emergency, listen to the public address instructions and follow them • If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile • Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles • Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates To find out more, visit gov.uk/ACT or @TerrorismPolice

SUPPORTER LIAISON OFFICER DEAN MEDCALF GOOD EVENING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AND A WARM WELCOME TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM TO THE VISITING FANS FROM BLACKPOOL. This season we have seen the ugly face of pyrotechnic rise its head again at several of our away games. Pyrotechnic devices such as flares, smoke bombs and fireworks are dangerous and it is a criminal offence to use these in football stadiums. Earlier this year all 72 English Football League clubs signed up to a new chairman’s charter with the EFL to tackle the use of these devices and to punish the people who use these devices. In conjunction with police forces around England, EFL clubs will take strong and decisive action against any supporter attempting to bring one of these banned items into a stadium. If a person is found to have used a pyrotechnic device consideration would be given to a prosecution and this will be followed by a three-year banning order from every stadium in the country being issued. I have spoken to many people regarding pyrotechnics over the years and surprisingly some people do not see any issues with these devices being used in stadiums. Someone has said to me before that no one ever gets hurt by them and I found this astonishing as many people have been burned, injured and scared because of the use of these devices, including a 15-year-old this season during a Championship game.
A story that relates to me was following a Rovers fixture several years ago where a smoke bomb was set off: following the game I was contacted by fan that was hospitalised for two weeks after inhaling this smoke, the supporter suffered from asthma and the smoke that was inhaled had a terrible effect on the person’s health and was close to being life-threatening. So just because the effects are not visible does not mean that they are not dangerous and they can even be lifethreatening. I would therefore ask please do not bring pyrotechnic devices to games as you never know how it could affect our fellow
supporters and everyone has the right to attend a football fixture and enjoy the match in a safe environment. For more information on the pyrotechnic charter please head over to the EFL website. As always I hope you all enjoy today’s game, if you have any questions then please contact me on the usual SLO social media accounts, @SLO_DRFC on twitter, DRFC SLO on Facebook or you can email me at dean.medcalf@ clubdoncaster.co.uk. Rovers Till We Die Paul Mayfield
VIKING SUPPORTERS CO-OPERATIVE Football is the national game, and football supporters are the lifeblood of the game. While many privately owned football clubs are well run, ours included, there are numerous examples over the years where this model of ownership has failed the supporters of that club, and has led to a number of clubs becoming either partly or fully owned by those supporters. The Minister Of Sport set up the Expert Working Group with the intention of looking at ways to improve engagement and dialogue between clubs and fans, and therefore to improve transparency and trust. The detailed recommendations from the EWG led to the government instructing the EFL and the Premier League to enter into structured dialogue with those supporters, and especially with the supporters trust at that club. As you may be aware the club hold two Meet The Owners events each year which meet the criteria set down by the EFL. On top of that the club have a Supporters Board which meets on a regular basis during the season to discuss a very broad range of topics. Suffice to say that DRFC have not only met the requirements but have exceeded them in both frequency and content, and that is something we can once again be proud of. Martin O'Hara

FOUNDATION UP
Rossington All Saints Academy will represent Doncaster Rovers in the area final of the EFL Girls Cup after winning a 42-team competition at the Keepmoat Stadium on Wednesday night."
The girls, made up of year seven and eight students from their respective schools, were proud to represent their school at the tournament, and enjoyed the experience throughout.
The six-a-side tournament was made up of six secondary school teams from: Hall Cross Academy; Balby Carr (Astrea Academy Woodfields); De Warenne Academy; Selby High School; Outwood Academy Danum and Rossington All Saints Academy.
Rossington won all but one of their games on their way to finishing top of the league, with only an entertaining draw against Selby High School stopping them from gaining maximum points.
The teams competed in a mini league, facing each team once, with the winner of the league advancing through to the area final.
A plus 40-goal difference and two goals conceded throughout the tournament was an exceptional achievement, making Rossington deserved winners on the night.
All Saints Academy PE teacher Katherine Fewster was delighted with how the girls played at the tournament. She said: “The girls had been excited all week to take part and they played so well. We are all looking forward to the next part of the event. “The girls are buzzing to be part of the area finals and getting to wear a Doncaster Rovers kit. This is the first time a team from Rossington has actually won to go onto the next event, I’m so proud of them.” Rossington will now go on to represent Rovers in the area final, which will be held at Nottingham Forest at the start of 2019. The winner of the area final will then move on to the regional final, with the winner advancing through to the grand final held at Wembley Stadium in March 2019. A six-a-side contest, the road to the finals began when the new school term started back in September. Each of the 72 EFL clubs organised a local competition for all schools wishing to take part in their area. More than 6,000 girls are involved in the competition each year, as the EFL Trust look to continue to build on the growing support of the women’s game.

ISSUE 13 v BLACKPOOL
DATE Rovers player Matty Blair was on hand as the participants of Fit Rovers course 10 achieved record results on Thursday night. Participants shed a total of 78.3kg, the most seen by a single course since the start of the scheme. This has taken the total weight loss of men on Fit Rovers since 2017 to more than 95 stone. They also lost 122cm from their combined waist circumference and drastically improved their mental wellbeing, which saw their total self-confidence rise by 64 per cent since week one. The participants were welcomed onto the programme by Matty, the Fit Rovers ambassador for 2018/19, eight weeks ago, and he was inspired by the commitment and personal drive from all those who took part. He said: “These guys inspire me. It is great to see so many people take part in such a worthwhile programme. “Fit Rovers is not only giving people the chance to improve
their wellbeing and fitness, but also create a community with fellow members. I’m glad to be involved.“ Along with fantastic results, course 10 also achieved the highest retention rate, with 92 per cent of those who started the programme going on to complete it. Course facilitator Nick Gillott commented: “This brought a conclusion to our second year of Fit Rovers. Course 10 proved to be one of the most successful courses we have delivered in regards to weight loss and course completion rate. “Hopefully these guys continue
their journeys within the project by transitioning over onto the Vets sessions.” Fit Rovers is Club Doncaster Foundation’s pioneering adult fitness course based at the Keepmoat Stadium, aimed at men over the age of 30, free of charge. Unlike big fitness/weight-loss chains that charge you for public weigh-ins and give very little guidance, information at Fit Rovers is completely confidential meaning you can keep a track of exactly how you’re doing on a one-to-one basis with the dedicated staff team. One session a week for eight weeks is included in the course, as well as incentives such as sports wear, Doncaster Rovers player visits and money off match shirts. For more information on how to book onto the next free Fit Rovers course, which is scheduled to run in January, contact the team on 01302 764663 or alternatively at fitrovers@ clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk.

Please send a text with your location and the location of the offence – e.g. block, row, seat - to 07825012850 with one of the following:
• • • •
STAND (standing up) HPH (homophobic chanting) DRINK (drinking alcohol in view of the pitch) PYRO (use of or intended use of any pyrotechnic or smoke bomb)

Each message costs one standard text at your local rate.
