"THEY ARE IN GOOD FORM AND WILL NOT MAKE LIFE EASY FOR US, BUT WE’RE ON A VERY GOOD RUN OURSELVES AND HEAD INTO THE GAME FULL OF CONFIDENCE"
GOOD AFTERNOON, AND WELCOME TO KARL ROBINSON AS WELL AS THE THE SUPPORTERS, PLAYERS, STAFF AND OWNERS OF OXFORD UNITED WHO HAVE MADE THE TRIP NORTH TODAY. Karl is a good boss and likes his sides to play good, attacking football which should help make for an entertaining game today. They are in good form and will not make life easy for us, but we’re on a very good run ourselves and head into the game full of confidence as a result. We are looking for a good performance today to go into the busy run of Christmas fixtures on a high. I know we are capable of getting a good haul of points over these games, and with Niall Mason and Joe Wright coming back into the group after injuries believe we have the squad depth to cope.
and I’m sure that we will see fans travel in large numbers to Fleetwood on Boxing Day then Gillingham three days later. These are not easy fixtures for our fans to get to at this time of the year, but I’ve been really impressed by you this term and it really does help push the lads on. Enjoy the game, and I hope you all have a merry Christmas.
The backing supporters have given myself and the team over the first half of the season has been magnificent,

"FOR SOMEONE TO MAKE THAT MANY APPEARANCES IN ONE CAREER IS SOMETHING SPECIAL, BUT TO DO IT FOR ONE CLUB IS ASTOUNDING"
GAVIN BALDWIN GOOD AFTERNOON, AND WELCOME BACK TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM FOR THIS AFTERNOON’S GAME. I’D LIKE TO WELCOME THE OWNERS, SUPPORTERS, PLAYERS AND STAFF WHO HAVE MADE THE TRIP UP FROM OXFORD. Today is set to be a special occasion as we mark James Coppinger’s 600th competitive appearance for Rovers. For someone to make that many appearances in one career is something special, but to do it for one club is astounding. He is featured in today’s programme and I’m sure you’ll see a few special touches throughout the matchday to mark the occasion. We head into Christmas feeling very positive both on and off the pitch, and a good result today would leave us within touching distance of 40 points before the really big rush of festive fixtures. Grant McCann has got the squad really focused at the moment, and we believe we’re setup to have a real go as we head into 2019.
have a minute’s applause prior to the game against Rochdale on January 1 to celebrate their lives. I was pleased to see so many supporters stop by the foodbank collection prior to last weekend’s game, and I know we’ve had a busy week at the Keepmoat Stadium with people dropping items off while coming down to pick up tickets or buy items from the Club Shop. Rovers staff stopped by to see Jim and Gill with a donation last week with some of the cash from our collection being used to buy gifts for children who are spending Christmas in Doncaster Royal Infirmary. Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy the game.
Our next home game will provide our annual opportunity to pay our respects to fans we have lost during the year. Our communications team are pulling together a list of names, and if you know of any supporter or someone connected to the club who we can include on the list please email it to media@clubdoncaster.co.uk. JAMES R E G N I COPP WITH THE JOINT MOST ASSISTS IN SKY BET LEAGUE ONE THIS SEASON, JAMES COPPINGER IS CONTRIBUTING MORE THAN EVER IN A ROVERS SHIRT. It’s been a record breaking couple of years for the No.26, and he’s about to reach another milestone with his 600th game for the club this afternoon. “It’s been a period of time where I’ve reached a lot of different milestones, as you get older it becomes more of an achievement and more so because I’m still playing regularly,” he says. “I’m feeling as fit as I have done for the past few years, I’m offering as much as I have done throughout my time at the club. “People always ask the question about getting to the next milestone but for me now I’m concentrating on the here and now and focusing on doing well for the team.
DONCASTERROVERSFC.CO.UK

“The best thing about getting to 600 is the fact that I’m in a good place and still playing every week, I feel like I’m getting to it and contributing as much as ever.
Part of Coppinger’s motivation as the most senior player in the Rovers squad is to motivate the younger players around him in the changing room.
“I’m fit for most games and training every day, so this is why it stands out for me and who knows how far I can go.”
He has seen just about everything in the game, and applies himself in the right way every day, giving those younger players no excuse but to do the same.
With other players starting to retire in their early 30s, a change in diet and managing himself off the pitch is what has allowed Coppinger to play for so long.
“For me now I want to be able to influence other people and that is the motivation as well as doing things personally,” he says.
He takes pride in the way he looks after his body away from football, and thinks that is just as important as what you do on the pitch.
“I’m nearly 40 years old which still hasn’t really sunk in, there aren’t many players at that age who are contributing as much as I am.
“People take for granted how long you can carry on playing for, people are retiring in their early 30s and I’m still going strong,” he says. “I still think players at that age have something to offer, but people struggle to adapt to different surroundings or levels of football. “Personally one of my strengths is adapting to what’s put in front of me and there isn’t much that I can’t find a way to work out. “It’s been the case for me that ever since I turned 30 people doubt me and write me off, I’m 38 and still do the same thing to players younger than me. “I’ve got the most assists in the division this season which shows I’m still doing well, it’s been really good in terms of where we are as a squad.”

"ONE OF MY STRENGTHS IS ADAPTING TO WHAT’S PUT IN FRONT OF ME AND THERE ISN’T MUCH THAT I CAN’T FIND A WAY TO WORK OUT"
“I want it to continue as long as possible, the staff and the physios have all been great with me so hopefully we can keep progressing as a group. “When you get to a certain age it can be easy to have a few bad games and people think that’s you done. “I’ve always tried to set an example and it gives them an incentive to push themselves to follow the way I go about things. “We’ve got a lot of young players in our team and if they see me applying myself in the right way then it gives them no excuses.” The fact that his 600th Rovers appearance will come at the Keepmoat Stadium makes it extra special for Coppinger. He has a habit of scoring in big games and ones where he is the centre of attention, with an added motivation for him to do well. “It makes a difference that it will be at the Keepmoat, the Morecambe game was a big one and then the 500 after that,” he says. “I’ve clocked another 100 up and it will fall at home which is good because the fans have been amazing through good and bad times.
"I’M ENJOYING MY FOOTBALL AND THE LADS PLAY A BIG PART IN THAT, THE CLUB THAT I’M AT HAS PLAYED A MASSIVE PART IN MY LIFE" “It’s always nice to play in front of a good crowd, we’re in good form as well which helps when things like this crop up. “The game won’t be any different for me but it will be really enjoyable to celebrate reaching 600 and I’ll think about it afterwards. “I’ve had games before where I knew something would happen, games like Southend and Brentford where you want to make an impact. “I have that extra motivation to try and give fans something to talk about, it’s something I’m looking for a repeat of against Oxford.” 221 players have worn the Rovers shirt alongside Coppinger since he arrived at the club in the summer of 2004. There are some obvious standouts for him, with the majority coming from teams he has been promoted with in the past. “I think the standout players for me are the ones that love playing football and people it means the most to,” he adds. “The likes of Billy Sharp, Richie Wellens and Brian Stock spring to mind because they are always thinking about football and would do anything for the cause. “The fact that Billy is the way he is in terms of his goal scoring says it all, and then Richie and Stocky used to run games. “Those types of people were the ones I loved playing with because we were all similar in our goals both on and off the pitch. “I’m enjoying my football and the lads play a big part in that, the club that I’m at has played a massive part in my life. “That drives me on to go and get more success, with the team we’ve got now there is no reason why we can’t push on and I can sense something could happen.”

FOUR T OXFORD UNITED
SIMON EASTWOOD TOP STOPPER
01
The former England youth international stopper signed for The U’s in the summer of 2016, following three years in the Championship with Blackburn Rovers. Eastwood began his career with Huddersfield Town, making just a solitary appearance for the Terriers over three years, spending time away on loan at Woking and Bradford City. He then joined The U’s for his first spell in 2010 but failed to make an appearance at the Kassam Stadium, and instead chose to move back to West Yorkshire with FC Halifax Town in 2011. He made a move back into league football with Portsmouth in 2012, before making the move to Lancashire with Blackburn the following season. He spent three seasons with Rovers, making just 13 league appearances, before signing with The U’s for a second time in 2016, where he helped them to reach the EFL Trophy final last season, in which they narrowly missed out to Coventry City.
JAMES HENRY MIDFIELD MAESTRO
17
The U’s winger continues the theme of former England youth internationals, having played for the Young Lions at under-18 and under-19 level, whilst also representing Scotland at under-16 and under-19 level as well. Henry has previous for promotion from this level, having been an instrumental figure in now-Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers’ title-winning exploits back in 2014. Prior to his time at Molineux, Henry also featured for hometown side Reading, going on to join Millwall permanently in 2010 and making over 120 appearances at The Den. He joined the U’s from Wolves on a permanent deal in the summer of 2017 and finished last season as their top scorer with 10 league goals.

ISSUE 15 v OXFORD UNITED
TO WATCH CURTIS NELSON DEFENSIVE ROCK
05
Another former England youth international amongst the U’s ranks, the defender returned to the side in mid-April this year after a lengthy spell out through injury. Nelson has an England under-18 cap to his name after featuring for the Young Lions back in 2011 whilst with former club Plymouth Argyle. He spent eight years in total with the Pilgrims, being named in the PFA League Two Team of the Year in his final season in Devon, before a move to the Kassam Stadium in 2016. He helped lead the U’s to the EFL Trophy final during the 2016/17 season, and despite his injury set back which saw him miss a large chunk of the last campaign, he has slotted back into the U’s defence with ease upon his return.
JAMIE MACKIE DEADLY STRIKER
19
A man with Premier League experience, the striker completes this line-up of U’s talent with international pedigree, having represented the senior Scottish side nine times and scoring twice. Mackie began his career with Wimbledon before moving to Exeter City in 2005, spending three years with the Grecians, helping them to win the Conference Premier play-off final in his final season before a move to Devon rivals Plymouth Argyle in 2008. Mackie is probably best known for his time with Queens Park Rangers, spending six seasons at Loftus Road, helping them to promotion to the Premier League in his first season, capping a remarkable rise from non-league to the top flight for the Scottish international. More recently, Mackie has played for Nottingham Forest and Reading, before his move to the Kassam Stadium ahead of the current season, scoring his first U’s goal in a 2-0 victory over his former club Plymouth back in October.

TWO MEN INVOLVED WITH FAMOUS ROVERS’ PROMOTIONS MAKE UP THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THESE TWO SIDES.
One popular former Rovers loanee makes up the first connection between Rovers and the U’s, with JOHN LUNDSTRAM’S short spell at the Keepmoat Stadium proving to be a very successful one for the midfielder. Lundstram joined Rovers from Premier League side Everton in February 2013, making his debut against Yeovil Town that same month, with Rovers looking to secure an immediate return to the Championship. Lundstram consolidated his position in the Rovers midfield over the last three months of the season and became a key part in the side that went on to win the League One title in 2013. He started that famous game at Griffin Park back in April 2013, playing for 61 minutes before being replaced by Paul Keegan, and he returned to the Keepmoat Stadium two days later as for the League One trophy presentation after clinching the league title. Following his time in South Yorkshire, Lundstram was called up to the England under-20 side for the FIFA World Cup the month after the win at Brentford. This saw him play for the Young Lions at every level from under-17s through to the under-20s, making 31 youth international appearances and scoring twice across his time in the England youth set-up. Lundstram joined Oxford United in 2015 following his departure from Goodison Park after a 13-year association with the Toffees, and he immediately made an impact at the Kassam Stadium, helping them to return to third tier for the first time since 2001. Lundstram also played a key part in helping the U’s to reach back-to-back Football League Trophy in both 2015 and 2016, and he was installed as U’s skipper in his second season in Oxfordshire. Lundstram ended his time with the U’s last summer as he linked up with former boss Chris

Wilder, returning to South Yorkshire, this time joining Sheffield United following their promotion to the Championship, scoring his first goal against Nottingham Forest in October 2017, and going on to make 40 appearances for the Blades as they finished 10th in their second tier return. LEWIS GUY is the next connection between the two sides, though he is more likely to be remembered for his time in DN4 rather than OX4. Guy joined Rovers at the end of the 2004/05 season, initially on loan, before making the switch a permanent one before the start of the following season. Guy spent five years with Rovers, helping them to win the Football League Trophy in 2007, whilst also scoring eight goals in League One during the 2007/08 campaign as Rovers won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs after a 1-0 win over Leeds United at Wembley Stadium, with Guy coming off the bench to replace James Coppinger for the final five minutes. Guy would score Rovers’ first ever goal in the second tier for over 50 years as his solitary strike earned them an opening day win over Derby County in August 2008, with the Rams coming down from the Premier League the campaign before. He departed the Keepmoat Stadium in 2010 after loan spells with Hartlepool United and Oldham Athletic, joining Milton Keynes, and it was whilst at Stadium MK that he spent time on loan with the U’s, making a temporary switch to the Kassam Stadium twice in 2011, scoring once across eight appearances. Guy closed out his career by switching between clubs either side of the border, playing for St Mirren, Carlisle United, Gateshead, Barrow and Chorley before playing his final games for Annan Athletic in 2016. MEMORABLE MATCH OXFORD UNITED
SEPTEMBER 20 2003
Rovers halted their run of poor early season form with a 2-0 win over 10man Oxford United at Belle Vue back in September 2003. Rovers went into the game after picking up 9 points from their first eight games back in the Football League, winning their first two back in Division 3, before a bad end to August was followed with a slow start to the second month of the season, which saw Rovers pick up just three points from six games back in the fourth tier, leaving Rovers languishing in 18th after eight games. The U’s meanwhile came in to the game at Belle Vue full of confidence, going their first nine games in all competitions unbeaten, and they started the day in second, only behind Swansea City on goals scored. It was Rovers who had the better start of the two, with the hosts having many good chances to go in front. The U’s also went close through Andy Scott’s chance midway through the half, and his miss would eventually go on to prove costly for one of Division 3’s early pacesetters. For Rovers, it would take a while before they were able to make their chances count, but it would be well worth the
wait for the majority of the 5,000-plus crowd that had gathered at Rovers’ former home. Left-back Tim Ryan was the man to edge the hosts in front as he lashed home a spectacular strike from the edge of the area to give Rovers the lead with five minutes of the first half left to play. From there, Rovers were in control,
and things were made even easier when Julian Alsop was sent off for a nasty challenge on Rovers captain Steve Foster just after the break. Rovers sealed the points with seven minutes of the game left to play, with Paul Green volleying home to double Rovers lead and earn them a first win in the league since August’s home win over Southend United.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? Rovers fans will need little reminding of what happened after the Oxford game, with Rovers clinching a consecutive promotion from Division 3, winning the fourth-tier title for the third time, despite being installed as favourites for relegation before a ball had been kicked. Rovers earned promotion to what is now League One in April 2004, with Green and Adebayo Akinfenwa scoring in a 2-0 win over Cambridge United in a sell-out at Belle Vue, before going on to seal the title before the final day, with a goalless draw away at Boston United. The final game of the season saw Rovers face Carlisle United, with Gregg Blundell scoring the only goal, and Rovers lifted the Division 3 trophy in front of a packed-out Belle Vue. Oxford on the other hand stayed around the play-off picture right up until the final couple of weeks of the season, finishing ninth on 71 points, three points behind Lincoln City who took the final play-off spot, although The U’s would have needed a huge swing in goal difference to be able to catch up to the Imps. They were relegated from League Two in 2006, and spent four seasons in the Conference, before Chris Wilder led them to play-off success with a 3-1 win over York City at Wembley Stadium in 2010. Six seasons in League Two followed before a second-place finish in the fourth tier saw them promoted to League One for the first time since 2002.

NUMBERS GAME WHEN THE NO. 12 WAS INTRODUCED INTO FOOTBALL, IT WAS THE NUMBER FOR THE SUBSTITUTE (ONLY ONE ALLOWED AT FIRST) AND THE FIRST ROVERS PLAYER TO SPORT THE 12 IN COMPETITIVE ACTION WAS CENTRE-BACK (AND SOMETIME STRIKER) KEITH RIPLEY ON 28TH AUGUST 1965 IN A MATCH AT SOUTHPORT. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME SUBSTITUTES WERE ALLOWED IN THE FOOTBALL LEAGUE, THEIR NUMBERS GRADUALLY INCREASED TO THE SITUATION WE HAVE TODAY WHERE THREE OUT OF SEVEN NAMED CAN BE DEPLOYED ON THE FIELD OF PLAY. When the number 12 became a squad number for Rovers, at the start of the 2002-03 season, the first wearer was defender BARRY MILLER (2002-03). Injury prevented the popular club captain from playing that season and he left Rovers at the end of the campaign, although he is now back as Club Chaplain. JOHN MCGRATH (2003-05), a winger signed after impressing for Rovers’ Conference promotion rivals Dagenham & Redbridge took over the No. 12, but he found his opportunities restricted by Michael McIndoe and he moved on to Burton Albion where he enjoyed greater success. As far as sensational debuts go, it is hard to beat the one made by Danish-born goalkeeper JAN BUDTZ (2005-07). It came in September 2005 in a second round League Cup tie against Manchester City. With the score at 1-1 in extra time first-choice Andy Warrington suffered a broken leg in a challenge and Budtz took his place. In the ensuing penalty shoot-out Budtz saved three kicks as Rovers won 3-0. They went on to reach the quarterfinals, losing in agonising fashion to Arsenal. Budtz went on to make 34 appearances before moving to Hartlepool United, but he is back at the Keepmoat, working for Club Doncaster Foundation. Before the start of the 2007-08 season Rovers manager Sean O’Driscoll returned to his old club, AFC Bournemouth, to sign striker JAMES HAYTER (2007-12). Hayter was regarded as one of the best forwards outside the top two divisions and was an excellent addition to the Rovers squad. In his first season the Isle of Wight born player scored eleven goals, and the final one, which was the only goal in the Wembley play-off Final against Leeds United, was priceless. Hayter’s diving header put Rovers back into the second flight of English football for the first time in 50 years. Hayter adapted well at the higher level and was a key member of a team which stayed in the Championship for four seasons. He moved on to Yeovil Town in 2012 with a record of 39 goals in 179 games. Since Hayter’s departure the No. 12 shirt has passed through a number of pairs of hands. MICHAEL WOODS (2012) and Everton loanee JOHN LUNDSTRAM (2013) wore the number in the successful 2012-13 season. LUKE MCCULLOUGH (2013-15) then took over the for two seasons before the number 4 became available. In 2015-16 for the second time the number passed to a
goalkeeper, this time the German THORSTEN STUCKMANN (2015-16) Stuckmann made a total of 43 appearances for Rovers but by the end of the season had fallen out of favour with new manager Darren Ferguson and moved to Scotland with Partick Thistle. So to a succession of one-season wearers of the No. 12. MITCHELL LUND (2016-17) had the shirt for Rovers League Two promotion campaign but was hampered by a nasty kidney injury. BEN WHITEMAN (201718), who initially arrived on loan from Sheffield United, wore the shirt last season. His move became permanent in January 2018 and he has now opted for No. 8. In a nice symmetry, the shirt has reverted to a centreback with TOM ANDERSON (2018-19) wearing it for this term. A worthy successor to Keith Ripley indeed. JOHN COYLE

"THE ACADEMY PROGRAMME IS DEFINITELY ONE OF THE BEST, NATIONALLY, AT CATEGORY 3 LEVEL"
KIERAN SCARFF I WOULD LIKE TO PLACE ON RECORD MY SINCERE THANKS TO EVERYONE AT DONCASTER ROVERS AND THE WIDER CLUB DONCASTER THAT HAVE PROVIDED SUCH GREAT SUPPORT TO BOTH MYSELF AND THE ACADEMY PROGRAMME AS A WHOLE. MY DECISION TO ACCEPT A NEW CHALLENGE ELSEWHERE WAS MADE ALL THE MORE DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF THIS. During my two-and-a-half years here there have been some huge improvements made at all levels. It has been great to see the manager and his staff building on the excellent foundations that they inherited at first team level. They are in a great position going into the festive programme and I am certain they will continue to be at the top end of the table come the end of the season. Within the academy it is very similar. Thanks to the consistent hard work and knowledge of an excellent group of staff the Academy programme is definitely one of the best, nationally, at Category 3 level. As the first team have, I know the Academy staff will continue to build on all their excellent work. I certainly look forward to hearing about their continuing successes.
I am grateful to the owners and Gavin Baldwin for giving me the chance to work at such a good football club. I have taken so much from my time here and will always look out for news of your progress. On behalf of all the Academy staff and players I would like to wish you all a very happy Christmas and a healthy and successful new year. Good luck to the gaffer, staff and players ahead of today’s game.

SAFETY Three points is not the only priority today. Making sure everyone goes home safe is the most important result. Over recent months we have been working closely with the police and the EFL to review security at the Keepmoat Stadium. Now we are asking you to do your bit. It is vital that everyone - players, staff and supporters - remains vigilant and reports any concerns to stewards or police. Attacks might be rare, and the chance of you being caught up in one unlikely, but the message is ACT #ActionCountersTerrorism. Rovers safety officer Sam Ramsden said:
AD-105x148-Football Foundation.indd 1
"We want everyone to enjoy today’s game at the Keepmoat Stadium but if you see anything that causes you concern, tell a steward or staff member. Please do not worry that you might be wasting our time. "The stewards are here to help keep us all safe so please be patient and cooperate with their instructions. When it comes to security it has to be a team effort and we are all players." Here's a quick reminder of what you can do to help keep yourself and others safe: • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks • Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground
• Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away • If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999 • In an emergency, listen to the public address instructions and follow them • If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile • Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles • Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates To find out more, visit gov.uk/ACT or @TerrorismPolice

SUPPORTER LIAISON OFFICER DEAN MEDCALF GOOD AFTERNOON LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AND A WARM WELCOME TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM TO THE VISITING FANS FROM OXFORD. This season we have seen the ugly face of pyrotechnic rise its head again at several of our away games. Pyrotechnic devices such as flares, smoke bombs and fireworks are dangerous and it is a criminal offence to use these in football stadiums. Earlier this year all 72 English Football League clubs signed up to a new chairman’s charter with the EFL to tackle the use of these devices and to punish the people who use these devices. In conjunction with police forces around England, EFL clubs will take strong and decisive action against any supporter attempting to bring one of these banned items into a stadium. If a person is found to have used a pyrotechnic device consideration would be given to a prosecution and this will be followed by a three-year banning order from every stadium in the country being issued. I have spoken to many people regarding pyrotechnics over the years and surprisingly some people do not see any issues with these devices being used in stadiums. Someone has said to me before that no one ever gets hurt by them and I found this astonishing as many people have been burned, injured and scared because of the use of these devices, including a 15-year-old this season during a Championship game.
A story that relates to me was following a Rovers fixture several years ago where a smoke bomb was set off: following the game I was contacted by fan that was hospitalised for two weeks after inhaling this smoke, the supporter suffered from asthma and the smoke that was inhaled had a terrible effect on the person’s health and was close to being life-threatening. So just because the effects are not visible does not mean that they are not dangerous and they can even be lifethreatening. I would therefore ask please do not bring pyrotechnic devices to games as you never know how it could affect our fellow
supporters and everyone has the right to attend a football fixture and enjoy the match in a safe environment. For more information on the pyrotechnic charter please head over to the EFL website. As always I hope you all enjoy today’s game, if you have any questions then please contact me on the usual SLO social media accounts, @SLO_DRFC on twitter, DRFC SLO on Facebook or you can email me at dean.medcalf@ clubdoncaster.co.uk. SUPPORTERS CLUB PAUL MAYFIELD
A BIG WELCOME TO THE FANS, PLAYERS AND MANAGEMENT OF OXFORD UNITED, WHO HAVE MADE THE TRIP OVER FOR TODAY’S PRE-CHRISTMAS GAME AND HOPE THEY ENJOY THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM EXPERIENCE, AND HAVE A SAFE TRIP HOME.
And hope we make them as welcome as our trip to the Kassam Stadium last season, some of the most friendliest stewards in the league, we felt hard done to with the result down there, so let’s make amends today. Let’s not give them any early Christmas presents. We had a fantastic win at Bristol Rovers for what was a great team performance, and a credit to the 380 or so Rovers fans who made the trip, and had to endure such horrible weather, it was a pity that there was a unsavoury incident that marred the day, the culprit, is now serving a ban from the club. As a result of the incident all supporters under the age of 16 must have an adult accompanying them, or an adult who will vouch for them, we don’t want to discourage younger fans travelling, but with all the safe guarding issues, we felt this had to be done. Our next away game is on Boxing Day at Fleetwood Town: coaches depart Retford 9.30am, Harworth 9.35am, Rossington/ Bawtry 9.45am, Punches 9.50am, Infirmary 10am, Keepmoat Stadium 10.15am, fares are £19 adult member and £17 under 16s - please add £2 for non-members. This is followed by an away game at Gillingham on Saturday December 29 leaving Kettlewells 8.15am, Harworth 8.20am, Bawtry/Rossington 8.30am, Punches 8.35am, Infirmary 8.45am, Keepmoat Stadium 9am. Fares are £25 adult and £23 concessions, add £2 for non-members. Please book early for the games over the festive period to Fleetwood and Gillingham, at the Gills the Supporters Club have tried to get the buses to park nearer the ground but to no avail, so just beware there is about a mile walk to the stadium. For the Preston game in the FA Cup coaches leave Retford 9.15am, Harworth 9.20am,
VIKING SUPPORTERS CO-OPERATIVE
Bawtry/Rossington 9.30am, Punches 9.34am, Infirmary 9.45am and Keepmoat Stadium 10.00. Prices are £19 adults and £17 concessions, add £2 if not members. If you want to book on the coaches call Paul on 07961727769 or Len on 01302 817347 after 6pm, cut off points are Wednesday. You can join on the coaches and get your discount straight away. Please see bus times and prices in this programme.
Football is the national game, and football supporters are the lifeblood of the game. While many privately owned football clubs are well run, ours included, there are numerous examples over the years where this model of ownership has failed the supporters of that club, and has led to a number of clubs becoming either partly or fully owned by those supporters.
Our North Branch also run coaches to away games from the Carcroft, Adwick A19 corridor, if you live from that side of town travel with a good set of fans call 07780316923
The Minister Of Sport set up the Expert Working Group with the intention of looking at ways to improve engagement and dialogue between clubs and fans, and therefore to improve transparency and trust.
Also if you travel to home games from the Retford, Harworth, Rossington area we run a coach to the Keepmoat Stadium, dep time 13.00/18.00 from Retford, Harworth 13.20/18.20 and Rossington Styrupp and Labour Club 13.30/18.30, no need to book on this service. The Supporters Club Christmas draw has now been drawn. And a list of the winners has been posted on social media and, I will call all the winners personally. Thanks to all who have donated prizes, sold and brought tickets. The Supporters Club handbooks are now ready for collection from the Supporters Club Shop, situated in the Club Doncaster Academy. The shop has also had new deliveries of Rovers programmes and other memorabilia. On behalf of the Supporters Club, we would like to wish you all a merry Christmas and an even happier New Year. Rovers Till We Die Paul Mayfield
The detailed recommendations from the EWG led to the government instructing the EFL and the Premier League to enter into structured dialogue with those supporters, and especially with the supporters trust at that club. As you may be aware the club hold two Meet The Owners events each year which meet the criteria set down by the EFL. On top of that the club have a Supporters Board which meets on a regular basis during the season to discuss a very broad range of topics. Suffice to say that DRFC have not only met the requirements but have exceeded them in both frequency and content, and that is something we can once again be proud of. Martin O'Hara

FOUNDATION UP Doncaster Rovers first team players visited primary schools across the Doncaster region as part of the Rovers Roadshow. John Marquis, Danny Amos, Will Longbottom, Alfie Beestin and Matty Blair called in at Waverley, Sandringham, Sunnyfields and Barnby Dunn Primary School. The players answered questions from pupils focusing on resilience, as well as explaining how hard they had to work to become professional footballers, as well as how they had to overcome obstacles and challenges along the way. Club Doncaster Foundation school sports development officer Kelly Jackson-Powell said: “It was great to have the Rovers players down at the schools to talk about their own experiences with resilience. “The pupils asked really good questions and hopefully took on board the advice from the players. We hope to continue working with schools to deliver this sort of opportunity for everyone involved. “Thank you to all the first team players and members of staff that came down from Doncaster Rovers.”

ISSUE 15 v OXFORD UNITED
DATE Four players from Club Doncaster Foundation’s gifted and talented programme have been invited to train with the Doncaster Rovers Academy after impressing with their footballing ability. Warren, Jacob, Jack, and Jake were given their academy invitation letters at the presentation evening having been singled out during the sessions. The entire group had showcased their talents since week one, with the rest of the players making it into the development side to continue their footballing aspirations. These players still have the chance to make the Academy side, and will continue their development with Rovers coaches. Warren, who plays for his local football team at under11s, was thrilled to have been selected. He said: “I’m really excited to have been invited. I didn’t think I was going to get in but I’m glad that I have. “I’m going to take it to the next level with training. I’ve only been playing since I was nine and now I’m really enjoying it so I want to play in the academy.”
