"PRIOR TO THE WYCOMBE GAME WE HAD 20 POINTS FROM THE PREVIOUS 10 LEAGUE GAMES, AND IF WE RECREATE THAT OVER THE UPCOMING 10 LEAGUE FIXTURES WE WILL BE IN A VERY STRONG POSITION"
GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME BACK TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM. I’D LIKE TO WELCOME NIGEL CLOUGH, AS WELL AS THE FANS, PLAYERS AND STAFF OF BURTON ALBION WHO HAVE MADE THE TRIP UP TO SOUTH YORKSHIRE. We were were all frustrated by the outcome of last week’s result at Wycombe, but we have not dwelled on that and there has been a good reaction from the lads in training this week. We know we have been on a good run which has put us right in play-off contention, and the aim for us now is to build on that. Prior to the Wycombe game we had 20 points from the previous 10 league games, and if we recreate that over the upcoming 10 league fixtures we will be in a very strong position. Today we wear a special kit to help raise awareness of the charity Campaign Against Living Miserably. As a club we’ve put a lot of importance on assisting such causes and the players certainly picked a distinctive design from the efforts sent in by our young supporters.
Today’s match kicks off a busy period of home games for us, with five of our next six scheduled matches taking place here at the Keepmoat Stadium. Your support for the team has been fantastic this season and really helped us at difficult times in matches, and backing for us over this little run could really help set us up for the final part of the season. We know following us up and down the country requires a lot of commitment so I’m pleased to see match tickets of a maximum of £10 for next weekend’s FA Cup game against Oldham Athletic, plus an opportunity to purchase five or 10-match ticket packages to try and keep attending games as affordable as possible. Enjoy the game.
I met Nate, who designed the kit, when he came down to the training ground to meet everyone and I’m pleased we can welcome him again today for the match - I’m sure the lads will all make him feel special when they see him.

"YOU WILL NOTICE TODAY THAT WE ARE WEARING A DIFFERENT KIT FOR THE MATCH, AS WE CONTINUE OUR TRADITION OF DESIGNATING A GAME A SEASON TO RAISE AWARENESS AND FUNDS FOR A CHARITABLE CAUSE"
GAVIN BALDWIN GOOD AFTERNOON AND WELCOME BACK TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM FOR THIS AFTERNOON’S VISIT OF BURTON ALBION. I HOPE THE OWNERS, SUPPORTERS, STAFF AND PLAYERS ENJOY THEIR VISIT TO SOUTH YORKSHIRE. You will notice today that we are wearing a different kit for the match, as we continue our tradition of designating a game a season to raise awareness and funds for a charitable cause. We are again partnering with the Campaign Against Living Miserably charity, who work closely with our main sponsors LNER. LNER are again generously giving up their position on the front of our shirts for the day.
this week helps with that. We’ve a good record in recent years of bringing players through from the U18s, and we want to ensure they can continue their progress, as making the step up to challenge for a place in the first-team is the hardest step to make. This is an area where we have targeted to improve through significant investment into the under 23s squad next season, giving players an enhanced environment to thrive.
We will again be auctioning off the shirts to raise money for the charity and will confirm details in due course.
On Tuesday I joined a number of players and club staff in stopping by the 60th birthday party of our photographer Phil. He has given up his time for nearly two decades to take photos for us, and it was a pleasure to help him celebrate and thank him for everything he does for the club.
We are pleased with our dealings in this transfer window so far, which we believe serve the dual purpose of building towards next season while also giving us the best chance of success this year. Full credit has to go to the owners for backing the manager’s vision for the team, and doing it nice and early so we had Herbie and Mallik signed up before the transfer window even opened.
Enjoy the game.

ISSUE 17 v BURTON ALBION
TOM N O S R ANDE TOM ANDERSON HAS SETTLED IN WELL TO THE ROVERS BACK FOUR AFTER HAVING TO BIDE HIS TIME FOR A RUN IN THE STARTING XI. The central defender found game time hard to come by at the start of the campaign, before an injury to Joe Wright paved the way for an extended run alongside club captain Andy Butler. “I think its key for any player to get a run of games, it was tough coming in and out of the team at first but that’s football,” he says. “Andy Butler and Joe Wright were playing really well at the time so I had to be patient, I’ve had a good run now and I’m enjoying it. “It was strange at first because I signed for one manager and then another one came in, but that was just something I had to deal with. “I had to get on with things and make sure I worked hard, eventually my chance came and I’ve taken it.”

After several loan spells in the EFL, including a stint with Rovers last season, Anderson made the decision to leave parent club Burnley on a permanent deal in the summer. The 25-year-old knows he made the right choice at this stage in his career, believing the time was right to mature as a regular first-team player. “Looking back I have no doubts that I made the right decision to leave Burnley permanently in the summer, it was a move I had to make,” he says. “I’m still young but I had to come out and play and gain more experience. Having been out on loan for the past couple of seasons I wanted to find a new club. “It was easy to make the transition here having been here last season, I knew the lads and probably wanted to show them my best after the injury I got. “Once the opportunity to come back here came up I jumped at it, it was a no brainer given the size of the club and potential here. “We’ve got a great team spirit here and that’s made a big difference this season, the lads are there for each other and that can take you a long way.” The Rovers side has been largely unchanged over the busy Christmas and New Year period, which has helped to produce a run of just two defeats in 13 games in all competitions. Whether it be a solid foundation built from the back four, or John Marquis scoring for fun at the other end of the pitch, Rovers have found different ways to win games.

ISSUE 17 v BURTON ALBION
“Everyone is working hard every day to keep improving, we’re a close group and we’ve had some really good results this season,” he says. “We’ve got a really strong spine at the minute, John is scoring for fun and we’re keeping them out relatively well at the other end. “The good thing for us is it’s virtually the same XI week in week out, so when you get used to playing with each other the confidence flows. “It has a big effect when you trust the people around you, if we can keep that going and pick up more wins then it will put us in a great position.”
"WE’VE GOT A GREAT TEAM SPIRIT HERE AND THAT’S MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE THIS SEASON, THE LADS ARE THERE FOR EACH OTHER AND THAT CAN TAKE YOU A LONG WAY"
As a defender, Anderson takes pride in stopping the opposition and protecting his own goal, but he’s also a threat at the other end of the pitch. Having scored in the 4-0 victory at Bristol Rovers in December, it was a goal against Preston North End that meant a lot to him and his family. “It meant a lot to score at Preston, as people could probably tell from my reaction I was delighted to get the goal,” he says. “In the manner of the game as well it came at a key time, I just managed to stretch my leg out and fortunately it went in. “I’m happy to score anytime and my goal record is quite good since coming here, but I’m just enjoying my football and if I can pop up with a couple here and there then that is even better. “I got a few calls from my family and friends because it’s not far from where I grew up so we laughed about it after the game.” The victory at Preston means that Rovers face a fourth round tie against Oldham Athletic at the Keepmoat Stadium later this month.
"JOE WRIGHT ISN’T FAR AWAY FROM FULL FITNESS NOW, HE’S A VERY GOOD PLAYER AND HE’LL KEEP ME ON MY TOES WHICH WILL IMPROVE MY OWN GAME" Anderson says the Rovers squad know the game will be tough, but they see it as a great opportunity to progress. “Looking back at the Preston game in the FA Cup we showed how well we can match it with a team from the league above,” he says. “Other teams might have conceded one and then gone on to lost the game, but the way we reacted showed what we’re about. “It’s a winnable game in the fourth round, but we’re under no illusions that it will be a very tough game as they had a great result against Fulham to get through. “We’ve got to make sure we do what we did to get us through, we wanted a big tie but we’ll take what we’ve got.” With players coming back from injury at a key time of the season, the competition for places within the Rovers squad is getting stronger each week. Anderson is relishing that strength in numbers, and believes it will get the best out of him and the rest of his teammates. “I’m feeling very good about myself, we’ve had a few good results recently and put a run together after Christmas and into the New Year,” he adds. “Joe Wright isn’t far away from full fitness now, he’s a very good player and he’ll keep me on my toes which will improve my own game. “It’s a challenge but one I’m relishing, as a defender it is important not to complicate things too much and make sure the ball stays out of the net.”

FOUR TO BURTON ALBION
BRADLEY COLLINS TOP STOPPER
40
The 21-year-old stopper is currently on a season-long loan from Premier League giants Chelsea. Collins joined Chelsea at under-12 level back in 2010, turning professional in 2014. He was the first-choice goalkeeper for the Blues’ under-18 side in the 2014/15 season in which they won both the FA Youth Cup and the UEFA Youth Cup. Collins spent the whole of last season on loan at League Two side Forest Green Rovers, making his professional debut against Barnet at the New Lawn in August 2017. Collins joined the Brewers in August 2018 and saw his loan extended to the end of the campaign after cementing his place in the side.
MARCUS HARNESS MIDFIELD MAESTRO
16
The Brewers youth academy product made his Burton debut against Notts County back in September 2013. Harness made 18 appearances as the Brewers were promoted to League One in 2015, before making a further five appearances the following season as they achieved their second successive promotion, this time to the Championship. Harness spent time on loan at National League side Aldershot Town during the 2015/16, and spent last season on loan at Port Vale, playing in 35 games in League Two for the Valiants. Harness broke through into the Brewers team this season, and scored a hat-trick, as well as picking up an assist, in their 4-0 win away at Rochdale this month.

O WATCH JAKE BUXTON DEFENSIVE ROCK
03
The Brewers skipper is now in his second spell with the Brewers, returning in 2017 after his departure from Derby County. Buxton began his career with Mansfield Town, making his professional debut back in 2002, going on to make 151 league appearances in a Stags shirt. He ended his eightyear association with the Stags in 2008, joining the Brewers for one season, helping them to promotion to the EFL after Burton’s Conference Premier title win, and he joined Nigel Clough at Derby in 2009. He would spend seven years with the Rams before a season with Wigan Athletic for the 2016/17 campaign. Buxton linked up with Clough for a third time in 2017 and he signed a new contract with the Brewers ahead of this season.
LIAM BOYCE DEADLY STRIKER
27
The Northern Ireland international scored the only goal when the two sides met at the Pirelli Stadium back in August. Boyce began his career with Cliftonville back in his home county, before a brief spell with Werder Bremen II between 2010 and 2011. Boyce re-joined Cliftonville for a further two seasons helping them to back-to-back league and cup doubles, before his impressive form saw him make a move to Scotland with Ross County. After 48 goals in 99 league games for the Staggies, Boyce joined the Brewers in 2017, though a kneeinjury kept him out of action for much of last term. Boyce has played 17 times for his country, making his debut against Scotland in 2011, whilst scoring his only goal for the Green and White Army against New Zealand in June 2017.

THERE ARE TWO VERY DIFFERENT PLAYERS THAT MAKE UP THE CONNECTIONS BETWEEN ROVERS AND THE BREWERS, WITH A DEFENDER AND AN ATTACKING MIDFIELDER SPENDING TIME IN BOTH SOUTH YORKSHIRE AND STAFFORDSHIRE. DARREN MOORE is the first player to look at for a connection, with Rovers being one of the former Jamaican internationals first clubs. Born in Birmingham, Moore made his professional debut for Torquay United back in 1992, ironically in a 2-1 defeat at Plainmoor against his hometown club Birmingham City. Over 100 league appearances later, Moore would be on the move, and he would join Rovers in 1995, signing for £62,500 from the Gulls, and he would go on to spend two seasons playing at Belle Vue. In another ironic moment of Moore’s professional career, his final game for Rovers in 1997 would come in a 2-1 win against his former club Torquay at Belle Vue, playing alongside current Rovers’ Development Squad boss John Schofield in that side. Moore joined Chris Kamara’s Bradford City for £310,000, a large profit for Rovers from the initial fee they had paid for him, and he went on to be a solid figure at the back for the Bantams as they secured promotion to the Premier League in 1999, with Moore making 44 appearances that season. Two years with Portsmouth followed, before he made what is arguably his most successful move back to the West Midlands, signing with West Bromwich Albion in 2001. Moore would spend five years at The Hawthorns, helping them to two promotions to the Premier League, one in his first season, and then again in 2004, whilst also being a part of the Baggies side that completed the Great Escape in 2005 on the final day of the campaign. Moore joined Derby County in January 2006, helping them to clinch promotion to the Premier League later on that year, and then went on to play for Barnsley before his move to the Pirelli Stadium in 2010, where he was quickly installed as Brewers captain. Moore retired from football in 2012, and re-joined West Brom as a youth coach. He is now the first team boss of the Baggies, having taken the job permanently ahead of the current campaign, winning the Premier League Manager of the Month award for April in his first month in management, before winning September’s edition of the award in the Championship, as he looks to lead WBA back to the top flight at the first attempt.
16
ISSUE 17 v BURTON ALBION
Another connection between these two sides is a man who spent a season each at both the Keepmoat Stadium and the Pirelli Stadium, with MARK DUFFY the man to play for both clubs. It would be Scunthorpe United where the now33-year-old midfielder would really kick on, scoring 10 times in 112 games for Iron between 2010 and 2013, before he moved to Rovers upon their promotion to the Championship. He played 36 times for the club in their 2013/14 campaign back in the second tier, scoring twice at the Keepmoat Stadium, bagging the winner against Yeovil Town from a clever free-kick, and again against Charlton Athletic in a 3-0 win. Duffy signed for Birmingham City the following season, though after a year at St. Andrews he joined the Brewers on loan, and was an influential figure throughout Burton’s promotion from League One in the 2015/16 season, scoring eight times in 45 league games, including a late equaliser against Rovers in the 3-3 draw at the Pirelli Stadium in December 2015. Duffy is now with Championship side Sheffield United, and he endeared himself to the red half of the Steel City after he scored the third goal in the Blades’ 4-2 win over rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough last season. Alex Gibbings
MEMORABLE MATCH BURTON ALBION
DECEMBER 19 2015
Rovers and the Brewers shared the spoils in what was a thrilling game at the Pirelli Stadium back in December 2015. The match was the first game of Burton boss Nigel Clough’s second spell in charge of the Brewers, and it would be one that didn’t disappoint, with the lead changing three times between the two sides before late drama at the end which would see the Brewers claim an important point in their quest for promotion from League One. The Brewers sat top of the league heading into the game, but it was Rovers who had the better start, going in front after four minutes. Mitchell Lund’s quickly taken throw was given back to him by James Coppinger, and Lund swung a first-time cross into the path of Andy Williams. The striker was facing away from goal, but with two touches the ball was in the back of the net, beyond the reach of Jon McLauhglin, with a brilliant half-volley from Williams nestling in the corner. Williams however would be at fault 15 minutes later as the hosts levelled. His sloppy pass was intercepted by Tom Naylor, and he cut through the Rovers defence with a superb ball through for Calum Butcher, with Butcher slotting
under Thorsten Stuckmann to level the scores. After the break, the tempo picked up and Rovers were awarded a penalty after Nathan Tyson was brought down by John Mousinho, but Williams penalty wasn’t struck at all well and McLaughlin saved comfortably, and Rovers would then be punished almost immediately. His solo burst through the middle went rewarded as he again slotted into Stuckmann’s near post to give the Brewers the lead for the first time. Rovers would fight back and through an unlikely source they would have an equaliser of their own. Rovers won a free-kick 20 yards out from goal, and
up stepped Paul Keegan to curl into the top corner and get the visitors back on level terms. The drama picked up as the game hit the final 10 minutes, with Rovers first going in front via another penalty, this time Tyson taking responsibility and smashing home, but it would be a blast from Rovers past that would decide the game. Mark Duffy, with Rovers between 2013 and 2014, picked up the ball from Abdenasser El Khayati, and he stepped inside to curl into the top corner in the last minute of normal time, ensuring that both sides went away from the Pirelli Stadium with a point in a thrilling encounter in the East Midlands.
WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? Rovers would go on to win just four games for the rest of the season, with a 16-game league winless run seeing their season collapse before their eyes, and it resulted in a final day relegation, ironically against the Brewers at the Keepmoat Stadium. Wins late in the season against Coventry City and eventual champions Wigan Athletic weren’t enough for Rovers to salvage their League One status, but they did bounce back immediately as they cruised to promotion the following year. The Brewers on the other hand had a much more successful season, as their final day visit to the Keepmoat saw them seal their promotion to the Championship for the very first time, making it back-to-back promotions from League Two and League One. They spent two seasons in the second tier, surviving by just a single point on the final day of their first season, but were relegated on the final day of last season after a 2-1 defeat away at Preston North End.

NUMBERS GAME BEFORE SQUAD NUMBERS WERE INTRODUCED INTO THE MAIN LEAGUE COMPETITIONS, THE NUMBER 14 HAD ACQUIRED ICONIC STATUS BY BEING THE DUTCH MASTER JOHANN CRUYFF’S CHOICE OF SHIRT NUMBER. THERE’S NO CRUYFF AMONG THE PLAYERS WHO HAVE WORN THIS NUMBER SINCE 200203, BUT THERE ARE SOME USEFUL PERFORMERS NONETHELESS. In 2002 the No. 14 was given to ANDY WATSON (2002-03) who had been tipped for stardom when signing from Garforth Town in 1999. He hadn’t made quite the progress expected but nevertheless contributed four goals to Rovers’ Conference promotion effort, despite being out injured for some time. He opted not to take up the offer of a new contract at the end of the season and the 14 shirt passed to LEO FORTUNE-WEST (200304) who later chose 13 as his number. For 2004-05 the No. 14 was worn by strikers CHRIS BEARDSLEY and ANDY CAMPBELL, neither of whom made much of an impression. In the summer of 2005 PAUL HEFFERNAN (2005-10) arrived with a reputation as a goalscorer, something he soon began to demonstrate. He was Rovers’ top League scorer in each of his first two seasons, and headed the list along with James Hayter and J. J. Price as Rovers won promotion to the Championship via the play-offs in 2007-08. Perhaps his best effort came in 2008-09, when after struggling to earn a place he hit a rich vein of form in the second half of the season. He scored 10 goals in 28 appearances as Rovers moved from the bottom of the table to safety. When he moved on to Sheffield Wednesday in 2010 his goal tally stood at 54 and his 18 goals in cup competitions are a club record. For 2010-11 the No. 14 started with young midfielder JOSH PAYNE (2011) who had the distinction of scoring on his only appearance, and Leicester City loanee FRANCK MOUSSA (2012). Defender TOMMY SPURR (2011-13) experienced both relegation and promotion with Rovers. He was a member of the side relegated from the Championship, and twelve months later he was on the field when Rovers beat Brentford 1-0 with almost the final kick of the game to secure the League One title. He moved on to Blackburn Rovers before the start of the following season. With Rovers back in the Championship they signed South African international defender BONGANI KHUMALO (2013-14) on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. He formed an impressive partnership with Rob Jones and appeared in 30 League games but his season was cut short by a knee injury. Rovers were relegated at the end of the season and the No. 14 passed on to experienced striker NATHAN TYSON (2014-16). The much travelled Tyson had been a consistent scorer at his many clubs, which included Wycombe
Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Derby County. He finished the 2014-15 season as Rovers’ top scorer in all competitions, his 14 goals including a hat-trick in the final game of the season against Scunthorpe United. The following season he seemed to be developing a promising partnership with Andy Williams, who had arrived from Swindon Town in the summer. However after Christmas Tyson was hampered by injury and Williams lost form, all of which contributed to Rovers relegation to League Two. Tyson is now back with Wycombe Wanderers. For the last three seasons the No. 14 has passed
between three of Rovers younger players. HARRY MIDDLETON wore the shirt in the promotion season of 2016-17, and it then passed on to striker LIAM MANDEVILLE (2017-18) who struggled to recapture the form of the previous season. ALFIE BEESTIN, in his third season with Rovers, is our current No. 14 and will be looking to emulate the likes of Heffernan and Tyson, if not Cruyff. JOHN COYLE

TONY COOK I AM REALLY PLEASED TO BE ABLE TO WRITE THESE NOTES HAVING TAKEN UP THE ROLE OF HEAD OF ACADEMY HERE AT DONCASTER ROVERS. I’VE BEEN PART OF THE CLUB HERE FOR A COUPLE OF YEARS AND IT IS A PRIVILEGE TO BE TRUSTED WITH THE ROLE AS WE LOOK TO BUILD ON THE GOOD WORK BUILT UNDER MY PREDECESSOR KIERAN SCARFF. Kieran did an excellent job at the club. During the most recent audit Rovers were in the top four category three clubs, which is a major achievement and is testament to his leadership skills and his man management skills.
We have a really good setup here at Rovers and there is a real chance for players to progress right through the setup into the first-team. The best thing for an Academy coach is to see a player progress and get into the first team, that’s what you do these roles for.
I’m looking forward to consolidating everything that he’s done and trying to add some new values if possible, but certainly maintaining what he’s done at this football club in this short space of time.
Young players can see there is a clear pathway from the Academy to the first team. I think it’s crucial to be able to show that to prospective players and parents so they choose us.
We have such a unique environment here. The U18s are in front of the first team management staff every day so the staff are aware of the players and the players are interacting with the first team. They get to see good role models, James Coppinger, Andy Butler and numerous others, who portray good traits for a professional footballer.

Hello everyone! Welcome to today’s game and to everyone from Burton Albion. Today we are wearing our charity kit which I really like which was designed by Nate Nisar. I want to pay tribute to two of our junior supporters, Liam Morrison and Zeke Bolton both aged 7. Many of you will remember Liam from a couple of years ago when he was mascot against Port Vale and he was allowed to go on the pitch to score a goal.
Liam
You were all fantastic and he is here today after being poorly on New Years Day so did not make the 5-0 game against Rochdale. Zeke regularly attends with his Dad and has become a good friend of mine. Both have recently rung the end of treatment bell and I wanted to share this great news and we all wish Liam and Zeke the very best.
Enjoy the game! Donny Dog

DONCASTER ROVERS
COMMERCIAL GOOD AFTERNOON EVERYONE AND WELCOME BACK TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM AS WE HOST BURTON ALBION IN SKY BET LEAGUE ONE. I cannot believe our last home fixture was on New Year’s Day, it feels so long since that win but what a victory it was as Grant McCann’s side thumped five past Rochdale to start 2019 in style. Since then Rovers have gone on toshine in the Emirates FA Cup too, knocking out Championship side Preston North End to progress through to the fourth round. It’s exciting to watch the football being played lately, and hopefully we can see more of that in today’s clash with Burton. Today we are delighted today to welcome our match sponsor JP Walton & Son Transport Ltd. JP Walton & Son Transport Ltd are one of South Yorkshire's fastest growing independent transport companies that provide a range of haulage, distribution and logistic services for a wide range of industries throughout England, Scotland and Wales.

SAFETY Three points is not the only priority today. Making sure everyone goes home safe is the most important result. Over recent months we have been working closely with the police and the EFL to review security at the Keepmoat Stadium. Now we are asking you to do your bit. It is vital that everyone - players, staff and supporters - remains vigilant and reports any concerns to stewards or police. Attacks might be rare, and the chance of you being caught up in one unlikely, but the message is ACT #ActionCountersTerrorism. Rovers safety officer Sam Ramsden said:
AD-105x148-Football Foundation.indd 1
"We want everyone to enjoy today’s game at the Keepmoat Stadium but if you see anything that causes you concern, tell a steward or staff member. Please do not worry that you might be wasting our time. "The stewards are here to help keep us all safe so please be patient and cooperate with their instructions. When it comes to security it has to be a team effort and we are all players." Here's a quick reminder of what you can do to help keep yourself and others safe: • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks • Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground
• Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away • If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999 • In an emergency, listen to the public address instructions and follow them • If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile • Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles • Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates To find out more, visit gov.uk/ACT or @TerrorismPolice

SUPPORTER LIAISON OFFICER DEAN MEDCALF GOOD AFTERNOON LADIES AND GENTLEMEN AND A WARM WELCOME TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM TO ALL THE VISITING FANS FROM BURTON ALBION.
I would like to thank all the fans who travelled to our away games over the Christmas and New Year period. The turnouts at Gillingham, Fleetwood and Preston were fantastic and, as always, your support was magnificent. The club this year prepares to celebrate its 140th anniversary. There are many events planned to celebrate this milestone over the coming months and the club will be announcing these in the very near future. I would like to invite the Rovers fans to get involved and give your ideas on ways in which the club could celebrate this event. If you have any ideas or suggestions then please get in touch, my contact details can be seen below and are also available on the official website.
The fan park will again return today, but this time will be taking place in the much warmer Belle Vue Bar, this was also the home of the last fan park which took place for the Oxford game. I am also looking for feedback on the fan park and what your opinions are on the events taking place inside the Belle Vue Bar. The Fan Park will again take place in its original location towards the end of the season. If you have any ideas on how the Fans Parks could be improved, again please get in touch. As many of you who follow me on social media may already know, before each away game I produce an away guide to pass on information to the Rovers fans that are travelling to our next away game. The club and I
are looking at new ways in which these guides could be improved and also how to make them more accessible to fans. For instance, these will hopefully soon be available to fans via the clubs official website. So if you have any suggestions or feedback on the Away Guides then please contact me or the club. As always I hope you all enjoy today’s game, if you have any questions then please contact me on the usual SLO social media accounts, @SLO_DRFC on twitter, DRFC SLO on Facebook or you can email me at dean.medcalf@ clubdoncaster.co.uk. SUPPORTERS CLUB PAUL MAYFIELD
A BIG WELCOME TO THE FANS, PLAYERS AND MANAGEMENT OF BURTON ALBION, WHOSE LAST VISIT TO THE KEEPMOAT STADIUM SAW THEM WINNING PROMOTION TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP. WE HOPE THEY HAVE HAD A GOOD TRIP TO US TODAY AND THAT THEY ENJOY THE DAY AND HAVE A SAFE TRIP HOME. THE EXPERIENCE INCLUDES ACTIVITIES FOR THE KIDS IN THE AWAY END, PENALTY SHOOT OUTS, FACE PAINTING AND A VISIT FROM DONNY DOG AND ERIK THE VIKING, FACE PAINTING ETC.
We had a great win at home against Rochdale last time we were at home and followed that with an amazing victory at Preston North End in the Emirates FA Cup. With the FA Cup run the game against Shrewsbury will now have to be rearranged so look out for coach details once we have a date. Our next away game is away at Portsmouth on Saturday February 2. Coaches depart Retford 7.30am, Harworth 7.35am, Rossington/Bawtry 7.45am, Punches 7.50am, Infirmary 8am, Keepmoat Stadium 8.15am, fares £27 adult member and £25, under 16s and OAPs please add £2 for non-members. Please book early for the games, if you want to book on the coaches call Paul on 07961727769 or Len on 01302 817347 after 6pm. The cut off point is the Wednesday before the game. You can join on the coaches and get your discount straight away. Please see bus times and prices in this programme. Unfortunately after an incident at the recent Bristol Rovers away game, which spoilt the win and marred the day, the culprit, is now serving a ban from the club, and hope teaches him a lesson, we are a family club. As a result of the incident, ALL supporters under the age of 16 must have an adult accompanying
them, or an adult who will vouch for them, we don’t want to discourage younger fans travelling, but with all the safe guarding issues, we felt this had to be done, Our North Branch also run coaches to away games from the Carcroft, Adwick A19 corridor - if you live from that side of town travel with a goods set of fans call 07780316923. Also if you travel to home games from the Retford, Harworth and Rossington area we run a coach to the Keepmoat Stadium. These leave 1pm/6pm from Retford, Harworth 1.20pm/6.20pm and Rossington Styrupp and Labour Club 1.30pm/6.30pm, no need to book on this service. The Supporters Club handbooks are now ready for collection from the Supporters Club Shop, situated in the Club Doncaster Academy. You can also collect on the coaches, this is free for all members of the Supporters Club. The shop has also had new deliveries of Rovers programmes and other memorabilia. We are hoping to get a programme fair organised, so watch out for more details. Hope you enjoy the game. Rovers Till We Die Paul Mayfield
VIKING SUPPORTERS CO-OPERATIVE Football is the national game, and football supporters are the lifeblood of the game. While many privately owned football clubs are well run, ours included, there are numerous examples over the years where this model of ownership has failed the supporters of that club, and has led to a number of clubs becoming either partly or fully owned by those supporters. The Minister Of Sport set up the Expert Working Group with the intention of looking at ways to improve engagement and dialogue between clubs and fans, and therefore to improve transparency and trust. The detailed recommendations from the EWG led to the government instructing the EFL and the Premier League to enter into structured dialogue with those supporters, and especially with the supporters trust at that club. As you may be aware the club hold two Meet The Owners events each year which meet the criteria set down by the EFL. On top of that the club have a Supporters Board which meets on a regular basis during the season to discuss a very broad range of topics. Suffice to say that DRFC have not only met the requirements but have exceeded them in both frequency and content, and that is something we can once again be proud of. Martin O'Hara

FOUNDATION UP
Doncaster Rovers player Matty Blair has sent out a message to all Fit Rovers members pledging his commitment to the programme as its 11th course gets underway. The Rovers No.17, who is the current Fit Rovers ambassador, has been so impressed with the programme that he has expressed a desire to carry on coming to the programme when his role ends in May. Matty was due to join the latest new arrivals on Thursday, having been down a week earlier to join in a veterans session which included NHS screening to help identify blood pressure, cholesterol or lifestyle concerns. He said: “I’ll always come down to help Nick and Scott when I can, they do a great job running it. Whenever they need me down, I’ll always make myself available.” “You don’t ever have to feel intimidated and I would encourage anyone to come and try the course out. “I haven’t met anybody yet that has said he doesn’t like it in the 18 months I’ve been doing it. “Everybody on the programme seems to be happy, seems to be on board and really want to be here. They all want to be a part of something amazing: I don’t blame them. I’d encourage everybody to do it.” One thing that has caught the eye of the 29-year-old is the impact the programme has on its members, leaving him shocked at the outcomes. He added: “The difference is staggering. At week one,

there are a couple of blokes in there that were probably a little bit shy, timid and unhappy. I come in at week four and they’ve made friends and interacting with everybody while also losing weight. “Then at week eight, after speaking to a few of them, they all meet up and do bits together outside of Fit Rovers, which is great to hear. “It’s a friendship bond that you make: they’re losing weight and feeling better about themselves, so long may that continue. The entire programme inspires me.”

Fit Rovers, Club Doncaster Foundation’s central health and wellbeing project, has received a massive boost in delivery because of volunteers.
can see the improvements made by the participants, which have really come to shock the former Doncaster RLFC player.
The work done by volunteers has contributed to improving the overall satisfaction of the course, while also offering a variety of different experiences and sessions for the participants to enjoy on a weekly basis.
He added: “I’ve seen massive improvements. A lot of the participants you will notice big changes physically, but at the same time they’ve become a lot more outgoing and confident within themselves.
Neil Barron, a Fit Rovers graduate himself, has recently offered up his spare time to lead the delivery of boxing sessions on a Tuesday night. This gives those who really want to push their fitness to the next level the chance to do so, with plenty of Fit Rovers Veterans taking part. When asked why he decided to help out at the sessions, Neil highlighted the fact that he wanted to continue to help others in their journeys. He said: “It’s really good to be able to put something back into the project. “Since joining Fit Rovers at course two, I’ve really enjoyed the camaraderie and the physical side of it, so I always wanted to give something back to the course. I look forward to every session with this great bunch of lads.” Another reason Neil leads these sessions is so he
“When they come to the boxing sessions it can be very intimidating walking into a boxing gym for the first time, but the group is very supportive and everyone really enjoys it.” As a man who runs his own business and continues to be involved in the backroom staff at the Dons, it would be easy for Neil to take a backseat at sessions. He added: “I’ve been involved in sport all of my life. I’ve played semi-professional rugby player for the Dons and I still work for the club, so helping out with sport and fitness is something I enjoy doing. “It is very rewarding to be able to put something back into a project like Fit Rovers, which continues to help others.” For more information on how you can get involved with Fit Rovers, get in touch on 01302 764663.
