THE MANAGER
DARREN MOORE Good evening and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium, I'd like to welcome Sam Ricketts as well as the fans, players and staff of Shrewsbury Town who have made the trip across from Shropshire tonight. We go into the game in confident mood after the win over Oxford United on Saturday. That was a very satisfying result because they were the form team in the division and, by my reckoning, are the best team we’ve faced in this division. We only had a short time to prepare so the majority of our work was done in the classroom and we got our tactics spot on - we had to dig in at times but the game was won with our work off the ball, the boys stuck to our plan and that was really pleasing to see. The victories over Peterborough and Oxford showed our versatility, ability to work to a gameplan and sheer determination to put our bodies on the line that give me real belief for the rest of the season. Sometimes we will have to dig in, and rely on a defender to get a last-ditch clearance, but the best teams always do. Your support this campaign has been great, please keep getting behind the lads as they give everything for you - your encouragement as the 12th man can help them find that extra bit of adrenaline that could make all the difference in the game. At the end of the Christmas period when the mind and body is tired we had to get the boys through one

more game before they had a few days to recover with no game on Saturday. But I’m glad we could fit this game in tonight to keep the lads sharp and focused. I’m really pleased we’ve got Seny Dieng here until the end of the season, and we were waiting on the final paperwork for Ben Sheaf to stay as the programme went to print. Seny and Ben have been credits to themselves, their families and their parent clubs during their time here and I’m sure there is much more to come from them both.
We allowed Alfie May to join Cheltenham at the end of last week. Alfie was great for me and a real hard-working player, but we felt the move worked for all involved and gives him security over his future for the next few years. I’m sure he will do really well for them. We wish Alfie and his family all the best for their next chapter. Enjoy the game.

CHIEF EXECUTIVE
GAVIN BALDWIN Good evening and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium, I'd like to welcome the supporters, owners, players and staff of Shrewsbury Town who have made the trip across from Shrewsbury Town tonight. The transfer window is now open and we are pleased to have secured the services of Seny Dieng until the end of the season, and at the time of going to print expected to have the paperwork completed for Ben Sheaf to stay with us until the summer as well.
Alfie May has played a role for Rovers and leaves with the club's best wishes
07
Both players have been key for us this season, and we feel keeping them here until at least the end of the campaign is a positive move and an indication of our ambition to challenge for the top six. Add this news to confirmation of Tom Anderson and Ben Whiteman both committing their futures to the club with new contracts, and we feel we are progressing with a squad which meets our dual aspirations of pushing for the play-offs this season but also laying a strong base for next season and beyond. I would like to put on record my thanks to Alfie May for his efforts for Rovers over the past three years, and he left for Cheltenham Town at the end of last week with the best wishes of everyone at the club. He came into professional football through a different route to many, and understands what it is like
having to do a proper job which meant he truly appreciated the position he found himself in once he was getting paid to play the game for a living.
on the way. I am sure he will be a roaring success with the Robins, and may well be back in League One next season having scored the goals to get them promoted.
He has played a role for us on the pitch this season, too, with some important goals, but it was a move which secured his future for the next couple of seasons which was important for him with a wedding at the end of the campaign and a baby
Enjoy the game.

NIALL ENNIS Niall Ennis’ return to the Rovers side in recent weeks has been a big boost for manager Darren Moore as the Sky Bet League One season continues to evolve. The Wolverhampton Wanderers loanee missed six weeks with a hamstring injury, with his absence felt as the fixtures started to come thick and fast. Having started all three of Rovers’ games over the Christmas period though, it was no surprise that his place in the team coincided with six points taken from a possible nine. “It’s good to be back involved now and I want to be playing as much as possible now, with games coming thick and fast that will help me,” he says. “Last season I was training with the first-team at Wolves around the festive and New Year period which meant I got used to making those sacrifices. “I’ve been missing games so now I’m focused on getting as much game-time as I can and showing what I can do. “No player wants to be watching from
the stands, it’s all about getting involved and being around the team. “I’m somebody who loves being involved in football and watching it as well so it was frustrating being on the side-lines. “Hopefully now after a couple of positive results we can kick on and push up the table with the games in hand available to us.” While the injury came at a frustrating time for Ennis, he was determined to make sure his body was 100% ready before being brought back into the fold. He believes he had to show his maturity in managing his body, and says he will learn from it in terms of how he recovers between games in the future. “I had to make sure I was ready to come back, I want to kick on now and be on the pitch as much as possible,” says Ennis.

“Once I’d made sure the pain had gone I had to try and do plenty of work in the gym to strengthen my legs. They probably weren’t strong enough before and it is about making it robust to be able to handle the games coming every few days. “This loan spell is about improving myself on and off the pitch, and dealing with the injury helped me to do that. “Knowing at the time that I wasn’t right and not playing on with it and making it worse shows that I’m maturing. My recovery is good but to get to where I want to be it has to get even better, things like sleeping and eating well are so important. “Having the manager and his staff there to support me meant a lot because they didn’t want to rush me back. “That helped me to focus on my recovery and not worry too much about getting myself back before I was ready.” Ennis was joined in the treatment room by Wolves teammate Cameron John for a decent chunk of his recovery, something which spurred both on to work hard to get back to South Yorkshire. It also gave both players a chance to review how their season was progressing before the injuries, as well as identifying areas for improvement at both ends of the field. “They were speaking to me and showing genuine interest in terms of how I was finding things and progressing as well,” he says.

“I had nothing but good things to say but I know I can be better and I have to stay level headed because it is a long season. “Cam was at a different stage to me when we were both injured but we managed to see a bit of each other while we were back at Wolves. “Having someone alongside me in there helps because it can be a lonely place when you’re working your way back. “You want to see your close friends doing well and that goes for Cam and the rest of the squad here because I get on with all of them.” Despite not scoring since his return to the team, Ennis feels that a run of goals is not too far away if he keeps getting in the right positions. With the likes of James Coppinger, Jon Taylor and Kieran Sadlier supplying the support up top, the chances are Ennis will profit from their creativity in the second-half of the campaign. “I feel like my game is more than just goals but I am working really hard to try and put the ball in the back of the net more often,” he says.
“As a striker you’re judged on your goals as that is what helps the team win games, so hopefully I can bag a few between now and the end of the season. “It’s been frustrating in some games because we’ve been the better team but not managed to kill teams off. “The positive thing is though that we are getting the chances
and all we need is someone to take control and put it in the back of the net. “Teams go through stages in the season where it’s not going for them but that’s football and you have to come out the other side better for it. “I know myself that if I get in the areas then the players around me will play the balls into the box, then it’s down to me to take the chances.” With a big few months to come for Ennis and Rovers, he says manager Darren Moore will have the squad ready to climb the Sky Bet League One table. “The gaffer sets the team up to play a certain way and I feel I’ve got a big part to play in that this season,” he adds. “Everyone has faith in the setup here and that can only be a positive as we continue to build that consistency in our game. “Now that we have a clear run of games I think the fans and rest of the teams in the league will see the best of us.”

SHREWSBURY TOWN:
FOUR TO WATCH MAX
O'LEARY On loan from Championship side Bristol City, O’Leary made his first international appearance for Republic of Ireland in May replacing the injured Mark Travers for the Euro 2020 qualifying games against Denmark and Gibraltar. He has spent time out on loan in the National League over the past three years, with those experiences taking him to Kidderminster, Bath City and Solihull Moors. O’Leary has made 13 appearances over nine years with the Robins, with his debut coming against West Bromwich Albion when he replaced the injured Frank Fielding at half-time.
SEAN
GOSS
ETHAN
EBANKS-LANDELL A commanding centreback who stands at 6ft 2in and has plenty of experience of playing in League One. After coming out of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Academy he had six loan spells away from Molineux, spending three consecutive years in this division with Sheffield United, MK Dons and Rochdale. Sam Ricketts signed the defender on a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee from the west Midlands club this summer.
JASON
CUMMINGS
The German-born midfielder did not manage to make it into Manchester United’s first-team after moving to their Academy in 2012. He was picked-up by QPR for £500,000 in 2017.
The Scotland international is another new face who has arrived at the New Meadow this summer as the club continued investment by purchasing him from Nottingham Forest.
Limited game time resulted in loan moves to Rangers in January 2018 before a year later joining St Johnstone on loan until the end of the season.
On his debut he scored within five minutes of coming on against Wimbledon to rescue a 1-1 draw in that game.
Shrewsbury signed Goss for an undisclosed fee this summer. The day after signing he made his debut in a goalless draw with Rochdale.
Previous clubs the 24-year-old has represented includes Hibernian, Nottingham Forest, Rangers, Peterborough United and Luton Town – latter three being loan spells.

JOHN FILAN
The former Australia international started his career in his native country but moved to England in 1993 where he joined Cambridge United. Spells in the Premiership with Coventry, Blackburn and Wigan followed. Towards the end of his Wigan tenure, Filan joined Rovers on a short-term loan in 2006 where made there appearances for Sean O’Driscoll’s side. Last year when Shrewsbury appointed Macclesfield manager John Askey as their new manager, Filan followed his counterpart to the club where he held the same role as assistant manager. The duo left in November 2018.
MARK ATKINS
16
Has served both as a manager and player at both Rovers and Shrewsbury during his 28year playing and coaching career. He featured for Rovers between 1999 and 2001, serving as caretaker manager in 2000 alongside Dave Penney after Ian Snodin’s departure. When he left Rovers, Atkins moved to Shrewsbury where he spent a further two-years of his career, serving as caretaker manager in 2003. Is still a regular visitor to the Keepmoat Stadium as a pundit for BBC local radio.
GRAEME LEE
Joined Rovers from local rivals Sheffield Wednesday and was named club captain. Most notably Lee scored the winning goal in Rovers’ 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy final in 2007. A recurring knee injury hampered his time in South Yorkshire and before his release in 2008 he was loaned out to Shrewsbury until the end of the season, making five appearances.
SHARED 5-A-SIDE ANTHONY GRIFFITH
The defensive midfielder was picked up to joined Rovers’ U18s team from Halifax in 2005 and after a successful spell with the scholars he moved to the first-team a season later.
Despite his breakthrough he was only given a handful of games by Sean O’Driscoll and spent most of his two-years on loan at clubs such as Oxford, Darlington, Stafford Rangers and Halifax. He then spent the next few years travelling around the country to different clubs and one stop he made along the way was at Shrewsbury in 2014 where he signed a short-term deal and played in five games for the club in League Two.
COLIN CRAMB
Moved to Rovers from Hearts in 1995. He was signed in the same window as current manager Darren Moore. His eye-catching form saw him score 25 goals in his two-years at the club which earned him a £125,000 move to Bristol City. He later spent one season at Shrewsbury from 2003 to 2004, scoring 12 goals in 37 games.

PAST RECORD PAST PASTRECORD RECORD
Rovers and Shrewsbury have been regular competitors over the past 30 years, with these matchups traditionally tight affairs - especially in the league. In fact the league record would be left completely balanced with a Rovers win tonight - there have been eight league wins for the boys in red and white hoops, five draws and nine Shrews wins. The visitors from Shropshire edged ahead in that list thanks to a 2-0 win at Montgomery Waters Meadow in February, with Josh Laurent and Tyrese Campbell on the scoresheet. Earlier in the season it had finished goalless at the Keepmoat Stadium. Rovers’ most recent victory in this fixture came in October 2015, with James Coppinger and Keshi Anderson sealing a 2-1 victory in Shropshire. The highest scoring meeting came in February 1975. It went the way of the Shrews at Gay Meadow, but Rovers more than held their own before going down 7-4.

DONCASTER ROVERS MANAGERS FROM 1920
STEVE BEAGLEHOLE (1991-1993) When Billy Bremner left Rovers for the final time in November 1991 he was succeeded by his assistant, Steve Beaglehole. A Doncaster lad, Beaglehole had represented Yorkshire and England at schools’ level and had been on non-contract forms at Scunthorpe United. He had opted to continue his education, gaining a sports science degree and taking his full FA coaching badge at the age of 21. In 1985, aged only 25, he joined Bremner’s coaching staff at Belle Vue and took charge of the Youth Team. He brought along an exciting crop of young players including Brian Deane, Mark Rankine, Rufus Brevett, Paul Holmes and Paul Raven. They won the Northern Intermediate League Cup and in 1987-88 his team reached the final of the FA Youth Cup, a terrific achievement at a club which was struggling at senior level. However, in March 1989 Beaglehole left Rovers to take up a similar position at Middlesbrough after several of his young stars were sold to raise much-needed funds. Beaglehole was soon back at Belle Vue, as assistant to the returning Bremner in July 1989. As manager, inherited a team bottom of Division Four and for a time results did not improve. He decided to pin his faith in youngsters such as Andy Crosby, Max Nicholson and Grant Morrow, and his policy bore fruit as a late revival saw Rovers escape the dreaded bottom spot. He also persuaded the board to convert the loan signing of Bolton Wanderers striker Mike Jeffrey into a permanent deal. Beaglehole made some shrewd signings before the 1992-93 season, and after a poor start, Rovers improved through the autumn
and briefly looked set to challenge for a play-off position. A groin injury to Jeffrey frustrated those hopes as Rovers struggled to score goals and problems increased when the club faced a winding-up order. In March 1993 an Isle of Man based company, Dinard Trading, took over a controlling interest in the club and Ken Richardson, formerly president of Bridlington Town, was appointed “football consultant.” The changes give Beaglehole some funds to strengthen the side and he managed to haul the club clear of bottom place again. Before the 1993-94 season, defender Russ Wilcox rejoined the club from Hull City for £60,000, Kevin Hulme came from Bury for £42,000 and former Bridlington striker Graeme Jones was signed. The new-look team began well and were sixth in the new Division Three by midNovember, but there were problems behind the scenes. Richardson’s handson style had upset some supporters and had threatened to undermine Beaglehole’s position. Richardson had taken charge of transfer dealings, which included the sale of Jeffrey to Newcastle United and he had been openly critical of Beaglehole’s assistant, the former Rovers defender John Bird. A run of four successive league defeats and a FA Cup exit brought matters to a head and on New Year’s Eve 1993 Beaglehole was dismissed as manager. Beaglehole’s fall did not mark the end of his career at Belle Vue as he was offered, and accepted, the post of director of youth coaching. He remained in this job until June 1996 when he was made redundant in a round of cutbacks. He has worked at Leicester City for around 20 years and is currently under-23 manager. He might have achieved much more at Rovers had he not had to work under huge constraints during his managerial tenure. John Coyle

Rovers have extended the loan of goalkeeper Seny Dieng until the end of the 2019/20 campaign.
21 The 25-year-old has been in fine form since signing from Sky Bet Championship side Queens Park Rangers in the summer, and will remain with Darren Moore’s side for the rest of the season. Dieng has made 17 appearances in all competitions, with his efforts ensuring Rovers have one of the meanest defences in the third tier. He said: “I’m delighted to have extended my loan with the club, my time here so far has been enjoyable with the players and staff around me. “I am looking forward to continuing our push in the second half of the season as we try to reach our goals.” It continues the positive start to the January transfer window for Rovers, who secured the services of Tom Anderson on a new contract on January 1 to follow on from the recent extended deal for captain Ben Whiteman. Alfie May has thanked the Rovers fans for their support after completing a move to Cheltenham
Town on Friday which ended his three-year spell at the club. The forward made the move from non-league Hythe Town in January 2016, and leaves having hit 23 senior goals for the club. He said: “I have loved my time here, I’ve met some team-mates who will be my friends for life and I have to say thank you to all the staff who have helped me throughout my time here. “Coming to Doncaster and turning me into a Yorkshireman gave me a future wife and a beautiful baby boy on the way. This is an emotional ending as Doncaster gave me the opportunity to become a professional footballer which was my dream. “Thank you to all the fans who have been there supporting and singing my name, it has been amazing. You will always have a place in my heart.” Defender Donervon Daniels has returned to his parent club Luton Town, who recalled him early from his loan due to injuries to their squad.

Dav Doone says confidence is sky high in the Belles’ camp after time off over the Christmas period. The Belles finished 2019 with a draw away at league high-flyers TNS before a County Cup win at home to AFC Doncaster, and Doone says those results have seen morale lifted as the squad returned to training on Thursday. “We’re looking to get that sharpness back into the legs after the recent break, we’ve had a nice bit of time off which has been good for both the players and staff, we’re confident they’re coming back in fine shape,” he said. “It was good to mentally refresh over the Christmas period, though from a playing point of view, the break was at a bit of a bad time in a way as we’d hit a little bit of form, but they’re in really good spirits and look ready to go again.
The Belles’ good form at the end of 2019 saw them halt a string of seven defeats in a row, and after encouraging performances in December, Doone is confident that all their hard work will shine through following the turn of the year, starting with Sunday’s trip to Leafield Athletic.
"They’ve all come back in with a lot of confidence, smiles on all their faces"
“They’ve all come back in with a lot of confidence, smiles on all their faces, so now it’s all about getting to work ready for the game against Leafield on January 12 and making sure we go out to get three points there.”
“They can take a lot of confidence out of the way they attacked in the past couple of games at the back end of last year, we looked dangerous going forward and created a lot of opportunities, we just need that rub of the green now,” he added. “It’s a process that has taken a little bit longer than we might have liked to really get going, but that doesn’t deter from the hard work from earlier on in the season, we wanted a few more results to go our way, but we have that little bit of belief in us now.
“The results that we had gave us that bit of belief that we can get something from teams not just around us but higher up in the league as well, we have that bit of form so we should be heading into games with all the confidence in the world.”

Good evening everyone and welcome back to the Keepmoat Stadium as we face Shrewsbury Town. It has been a long time coming for this fixture, we have waited since November to get this game played, so both sides will be keen to make the most of the day. SAFETY Three points is not the only priority today. Making sure everyone goes home safe is the most important result. Over recent months we have been working closely with the police and the EFL to review security at the Keepmoat Stadium. Now we are asking you to do your bit. It is vital that everyone - players, staff and supporters - remains vigilant and reports any concerns to stewards or police. Attacks might be rare, and the chance of you being caught up in one unlikely, but the message is ACT #ActionCountersTerrorism. Rovers safety officer Sam Ramsden said:
"We want everyone to enjoy today’s game at the Keepmoat Stadium but if you see anything that causes you concern, tell a steward or staff member. Please do not worry that you might be wasting our time. "The stewards are here to help keep us all safe so please be patient and cooperate with their instructions. When it comes to security it has to be a team effort and we are all players." Here's a quick reminder of what you can do to help keep yourself and others safe: • Arrive early, allowing more time for security checks • Minimise what you carry, fewer bag searches will speed up entry to the ground
• Be vigilant at all times and if you see anything suspicious, tell a steward right away • If you see anything that could pose an immediate threat to safety, call 999 • In an emergency, listen to the public address instructions and follow them • If told to evacuate, do so immediately, do not wait around to film events on your mobile • Move right away from the stadium as quickly as possible for your safety and to allow clear access for any emergency vehicles • Once you are safe, follow the local police force on Twitter for updates To find out more, visit gov.uk/ACT or @TerrorismPolice

Happy New Year ladies and gentleman. Welcome to the Keepmoat Stadium and a very warm welcome to all the visiting fans from Shrewsbury Town. SLO SEMINAR During December I attended the annual EFL SLO seminar which is held at EFL House, in Preston. It is an opportunity for all the SLOs in the north of the country to get together, discuss our roles and share best practice. The day started with a presentation from the Independent Football Ombudsman (IFO), this was to discuss the process of raising issues and complaints with the IFO. Following on from this we had an update on match day safety and security by the EFL’s security and operations advisor, this is always an interesting
discussion as it is around how the SLO’s work with the safety teams at different clubs. The day finished with a workshop on safeguarding and looking at different reallife scenarios. Safeguarding is something that we take very seriously here at Rovers, if you ever come across any safeguarding issues please get in contact with myself, the stewards or our safeguarding officer. As always it was an enjoyable event and great to discuss many aspects of the role with my fellow SLOs. EFL NEWSLETTER Following the meeting, the latest edition of the SLO newsletter was released by the EFL and included in the newsletter was a great piece on the clubs new first time fans / away fans video guide. Many people on the day of the meeting came to chat with me about the video and all had great things to say about it. As far as I am aware, we are currently the only EFL club who has such a video
and hopefully following the meeting and the release of the newsletter it will encourage a few other clubs to produce a similar video. If you have not yet seen the video, it is available on my social media pages, the club’s first-time fan page on the official website and the club’s YouTube account. I am always looking for people opinions on the video, so if you have any feedback then please get in touch! CONTACT DETAILS As always if you have any questions or feedback then please contact me on the usual SLO social media outlets, @SLO_DRFC on twitter, DRFC SLO on Facebook or you can email me on dean.medcalf@ clubdoncaster.co.uk. I hope you all enjoy today’s game and have a safe journey home. Rovers Till I Die Dean Medcalf Supporter liaison officer
SUPPORTERS CLUB
SUPPORTERS CLUB A big warm welcome to all the supporters for tonight’s game. Especially we would like to welcome to all the Shrewsbury supporters who have made the trip across the country to the Keepmoat stadium, I hope they enjoy their day out with us, and like the experience besides the result. The original game was postponed due to our guests having three players away on international duty, it should be a good game after the good festive period we have had, beating high flying Oxford and Peterborough. It’s difficult to put our league position in place as we have two to three games in hand over other teams in the division. Again this season we will be running coaches to all home and away games, the sheet with times and prices on are included in the programme but are subject to change. We have tried to keep the prices as low as we can but had to introduce a travel policy for under 16s who have to have a responsible adult travel with them. Fans who are 16-17-years-old need a consent form from their parents or guardians to travel. These can be downloaded from the Supporters Club website, on the bus or at the Supporters Club office based in the Club Doncaster Academy. As always we will run the home match bus from Retford, Harworth and Rossington Styrupp and Labour club, times are 1pm (6pm) 1.20pm (6.20pm) and 1.30pm(6.30pm). Times in brackets are night games, and there is no need to book. For fans’ safety we will be picking up on the inner circle adjacent to Car
Park 2 this season, so you can leave your car there. You can join the Supporters Club on the bus and get discount straight away, or join online or at the supporters shop located in the Club Doncaster Academy. The price is £7 adult and £5 concessions. Call Paul on 07961727769 or Len on 01302 817347 for more details and bookings. The North Branch also run coaches to most away games, from the Adwick, Carcroft, A19 corridor area. If you wish to travel with them call 07780316923. They are a great set of lads and lasses, and do a lot of raffles to support local charities. As in previous years the Supporters Club are having weekend trips away, the North Branch will be stopping in Blackpool for the Accrington game and the Retford Branch will also be stopping in Blackpool for the last game of the season at Bloomfield Road. Call Paul on 07961727769 if interested. Both trips will be £150, including two nights' bed, breakfast and evening meal. Not many places are left. Hopefully by the time you read this I will have delivered most of the prizes from our Christmas Draw, the full list of winners is in tonight's programme and on the Rovers official website. Thanks to everyone who sold or bought tickets for the raffle. The VSC and the Supporters Club are now involved the IAG in conjunction with the South Yorkshire Police, In a supporters-led initiative, to cut down on anti-social behaviour at games, how the policing of matches come about, trying to make it a more pleasurable experience going along to the games. The Rovers show on Trax FM has now moved to a Friday night spot from 6pm til 7pm, with me and Mellony Shepperd talking all things Rovers and local nonleaguefootball, well worth a listen. Rovers Till We Die Paul Mayfield
VIKING SUPPORTERS CO-OPERATIVE Football is the national game, and football supporters are the lifeblood of the game. While many privately owned football clubs are well run, ours included, there are numerous examples over the years where this model of ownership has failed the supporters of that club, and has led to a number of clubs becoming either partly or fully owned by those supporters. The Minister Of Sport set up the Expert Working Group with the intention of looking at ways to improve engagement and dialogue between clubs and fans, and therefore to improve transparency and trust. The detailed recommendations from the EWG led to the government instructing the EFL and the Premier League to enter into structured dialogue with those supporters, and especially with the supporters trust at that club. As you may be aware the club hold two Meet The Owners events each year which meet the criteria set down by the EFL. On top of that the club have a Supporters Board which meets on a regular basis during the season to discuss a very broad range of topics. Suffice to say that DRFC have not only met the requirements but have exceeded them in both frequency and content, and that is something we can once again be proud of. Martin O'Hara

Supporting the people of Doncaster to embrace a healthier lifestyle is central to Club Doncaster Foundation’s mission. Since 2015, our charity has been providing opportunities which improves lives, create positive lifestyle change and support social interaction. Doncaster faces some of the highest levels of obesity and poor health in the country and our Healthy 2020 campaign aims to change that. You can help us to get Doncaster healthier by visiting: www.justgiving.com/campaign/ Healthy2020 and pledging your support. Feeling healthy can mean different things to different people, but
we know that being active and connected to other people and learning how to take care of yourself and your family, are all critical to being healthy and to improving overall wellbeing. But sometimes people do not know where to start, or don’t have the confidence to take that first step. The Hayes family feel they have a lot to thank the Foundation for and their story is inspiring. John is a dedicated family man from Doncaster who 12 months ago was in no fit state, physically and mentally to take part in any physical
activity. John struggled to find motivation to keep active, with a heavy workload and a young family, and he found solace in his games console. His weight increased and he found himself distanced from his wife and children, with his 11-year-old daughter labelling him “miserable”. In October 2018, he decided to make a change and he joined Fit Rovers, a health project run by the Foundation. Alongside losing a considerable amount of weight, John has reconnected with his family, especially his son, who suffers with autism.

Seeing John’s amazing results, his wife and children have all since completed the Fit Rovers programme, and they are now well on their way to a much healthier future as a family. He said: “I have a lot to thank the Foundation for. They’ve helped me improve my lifestyle, which has brought me closer to my family. I would like to thank everyone who has helped me. “Hopefully my efforts will inspire families to think, we could do that. Don’t wait for tomorrow, do it today.”
The Foundation want to ensure all families can access our support and this is your opportunity to help us provide more opportunities to help, across our communities. The Foundation relies on the generosity of individuals, businesses and public sector organisations to help local people in Doncaster with the support they need. Through our diverse work we educate, engage, motivate and support people, and we need your help to reach more people in Doncaster. Make a difference and help
us to improve lives in your community. To donate, please visit: www.justgiving.com/campaign/ Healthy2020 Just a £5 donation will enable us to provide access to a free physical activity session for one person, £20 will enable us to provide a full family exercise session. Imagine what a difference that could make inspiring someone to take the first step towards a healthy 2020.
