Darren Ferguson Good afternoon, and welcome to John Coleman as well as the fans, staff, players and directors from Accrington Stanley. Today’s visitors are a good footballing side and we know we will have to work hard. But the focus now is on us to ensure we get our job done, if we maintain our effort and continue to perform as we can then we will get results.
We spoke to him in front of the whole squad on Tuesday, wishing him all the best. We will keep in touch with him and Chelsea, and we can use it as a motivation to get Jordan a promotion medal.
We have had a tough few games and every team will expect a few spells where they do not get maximum points, but now we need to try and go on a run to ensure we finish where we believe we can. The players are giving absolutely everything to do that, and showed a real mental toughness to dig in and get a point last weekend against a good Luton team. I’d like to thank you all for your continued support. With 14 games to go, you can really help us over the line. Enjoy the game.

Jordan Houghton left us this week to return to Chelsea after the knee injury he suffered against Luton Town last weekend. The injury was not nice for him and a massive blow, because he has been performing so well and been such a big part of our success this season.
We are still where we need to be in order to achieve our aim of promotion, with two points per game. The gaps to the teams below us have remained fairly constant, but we know it is in our hands.

Gavin Baldwin Good afternoon, I’d like to welcome the directors, fans, manager, players and staff of Accrington Stanley to the Keepmoat stadium and wish them a safe journey home after the game.
No one at the club is complacent about our position at the top of Sky Bet League Two, especially after the past few results. We know in the final third of the season you get surprising results, but Darren and his coaching staff are consummate professionals and will ensure our players give 100 per cent to finish the season where we expect to be.
We have had very constructive meetings with our Supporters Board over the course of the season, and I’m told the new burgers available today - picked after a taste test - are well worth a try. We have also added shelving to the concourse areas to give you somewhere to put something down when trying to juggle food, a drink and a programme. I’d like to wish Doncaster Rugby League well as they host Myton Warriors in the Challenge Cup here at the Keepmoat Stadium tomorrow (3pm kick-off). Dons coach Gary Thornton has put a strong side together, and we are hopeful supporters will see two promotion pushes at this stadium in 2017. Enjoy the game
Gavin

I would like to start by adding my voice to those wishing Jordan Houghton well after the knee injury he suffered against Luton Town last weekend. Jordan is a really popular figure at the club and we will all be following his rehabilitation from the knee injury closely. You could see just how respected he is by our captain James Coppinger’s declaration on Twitter that we’d invite him back in May for a promotion party - the players want to ensure he ends the season with a medal to put round his neck.
Like Darren said in his programme notes, your support can go a long way to help push the players over the line as we look to claim promotion.

Club Doncaster Foundation’s Doncaster Kicks project have partnered with Cre8tive Dance Academy to produce a series of Rovers matchday routines. The first of many half-time performances by school children was showcased on the Keepmoat Stadium turf during last weekend’s match with Luton Town. The performers were all in education at Balby Carr school and spent six intensive weeks working with the Cre8tive Dance Elite team preparing for their big show on the stage of the Keepmoat Stadium. Paige Singer, the Cre8tive Dance tutor is proud of the efforts of the Balby Carr students and looks forward to the future with Club Doncaster Foundation. She said: “Cre8tive Dance Academy have teamed up with Club Doncaster Foundation in order to deliver fun urban dance sessions in secondary schools. The girls are super motived, enthusiastic and really loving our sessions. “Cre8ive Dance Academy is enjoying being involved with the Kicks Project and looking forward to the future with Club Doncaster Foundation" The Cre8tive Dance team will go through the same process in other schools, working with them for six weeks before the dancers take their new skills and put them into action on a matchday. Hungerhill School will be the next to impress, and after keen interest the Dance Academy will be inviting all past schools to sessions to continue their passion for the art. FIT Rovers Club Doncaster Foundation’s first Fit Rovers course has reached its halfway point with some impressive results.
There to join them for their halfway mark was Rovers player Paul Keegan who mixed with the guys talking all things football.
The participants have lost an incredible combined total of six stone thanks to the content and health guidance they are provided at Fit Rovers.
“It’s great to see how committed the lads were to the Fit Rovers course and how much they were enjoying it,” he said.
So far the men have enjoyed four weeks of practical workshops, individually catered fitness sessions and Rovers player appearances - and still have another four to look forward to.
“Nick, Scott and the Foundation team are doing a great job with it and hopefully it will inspire more guys to join the next one.”
Rodger Buckley, a participant on the course has loved the course and is proud of his achievements so far.
“I’ve not just seen an improvement, I’ve felt an improvement: I walk with a spring in my step.” “I have so much more stamina: in the first few days I couldn’t walk from aching muscles I hadn’t used in years but my recovery time is so much quicker now and in this short time I really have made a massive difference to my health.”
“I’ve been blown away really with the commitment and efforts of every single person. I’m not surprised they’ve lost a combined six stone and a meter from their waist circumference because they have truly grafted for this,” he said. “They’ve set the standard now and I’m really looking forward to seeing the next set of guys.” To join Fit Rovers for their second course, you can contact fitrovers@clubdoncasterfoundation.co.uk or 01302 764663/07841000548.

Community Officer for Health and Wellbeing, Nick Gillott, is proud of the efforts of everyone so far.
Club NEWS Jordan Houghton has returned to Chelsea for assessment on the knee injury suffered during Saturday's draw with Luton Town. Rovers would like to wish Jordan well in his recovery from the injury, and thank him for the key role he has played on loan for us this term.
10 Box Office: 01302 762576
Rovers manager Darren Ferguson said: “He has been so important in terms of how we want to play. He has been outstanding, has improved as the season has gone on, wants to learn and is a great lad on top of that.” Jordan visited the Cantley Park training ground on Tuesday to speak to his Rovers team-mates, before leaving for London to be re-united with the Premier League side. He made 36 appearances for Rovers this
season, scoring in the win over Leyton Orient in December Ferguson added: “We’re all disappointed for him as he has done so well for us. We spoke to him as a group on Tuesday and everyone wished him all the best. “It wasn't a nice moment because the lad has done so well for us to suffer the injury like he has. "We'll have to get on with it but our thoughts are with Jordan because it's a big blow for him. "We're all so disappointed for him because it came from nothing really, as these sort of things do."We wish him all the best and hope he recovers as quickly as possible.”

Alfie MAY MIDFIELD DYNAMO The best things sometimes come in small packages, at least that is what Alfie May would say. After years of being told he was not big enough, the 23-year-old forward scored his first professional goal to earn Rovers a point against Luton Town last weekend, and feels right at home in the EFL ranks.
12
He slotted the ball under Hatters keeper Matt Macey after being fed by Conor Grant, and then did not quite know what to do after seeing the ball land in a bottom corner of the net.
Box Office: 01302 762576
“It is the proudest moment of my life I think and my celebration showed it – after the knee slide I didn’t know what to do! I just saw the boys running over and I was just jumping around. It was amazing,” he said. “My mum, dad and little niece were here, I think my dad cried when I scored because he was so happy. He said he ran down the stairs to celebrate and a steward got in the way. Hopefully I made their journey down to London a bit better. “I saw the right-back out of position, and one of the centre-halves was so deep which played me onside. I just thought if Conor gave it to me quickly, I’d be in. Obviously he gave it at the right time and I scored. The keeper showed me a lot of the other side of the goal… and fortunately it went through his legs! “It was good to get my first goal, but what an amazing point as well against a strong side in Luton.”
It is a dream I have really wanted for so many years. Thanks to the gaffer and Doncaster Rovers, they have given me that chance. May signed for Rovers in January after catching the eye playing for Hythe Town. Rovers’ commitment was seen in a transfer fee being paid for his services, but a move to a professional side was something May thought was never going to come. “I had never had any interest from professional teams, it was all non-league sides. I was moving around and not getting a chance. A lot of people said I was too small,” he says.
“Their captain actually said that me coming on made a big difference, as he was used to a target man and holding him up, so me playing on the last man made it a lot more difficult for him.” May understands why he has had to bide his time to feature in the first-team, and exudes confidence that he is right at home as a professional footballer. “It is a big step from Hythe, but I believe I can do it and training every day has only been helping me,” he adds.
“The crowd is totally different, we were getting two or three hundred at Hythe and now I have scored in front of 7,500 people. I got shivers from the crowd after I scored last week.
“From the first day I came on trial, the lads made me feel so welcome and just made things a lot easier for me. People took the time out to ask where I was from and really relax me.
“It is a dream I have really wanted for so many years. Thanks to the gaffer and Doncaster Rovers, they have given me that chance.”
“I had to show the manager how good I was and how I could fit into his side, and obviously I managed to do that.
Given his background – May has a carpenting business he has had to put to one side to pursue his playing career – it would have been easy for him to be overawed after collecting Grant’s through ball against Luton. That was never going to be the case, though.
“I’ve had to be patient as the players who have been starting have done so well. The boys that are here have been amazing, and you can’t fault that.
“As a goalscorer, I was confident – and that is what pushed it through really,” says May.
“The starting XI in the past few games have been brilliant, but there is such a togetherness in the dressing room – they really are a great bunch of lads and staff.
“That is why the gaffer has brought me in, because I’m a goalscorer, and hopefully there are many more to come so I can repay his
“It is hard for those of us not in the XI, but when they are performing so well you have got to keep the same team.”
13 Box Office: 01302 762576
“It got to a point where I thought at 22 this was where I was going to be - I was going to be a non-league player and was just happy to play football. I love my football, and to get this opportunity is massive for me.
faith in me. The game opened up a lot more as I went on.

Twenty-year-old keeper Marek Rodak is relatively new to first team football in the Football League, having spent majority of his youth career at Sky Bet Championship side Fulham. The youngster began playing football for FC VSS Kosice in the Slovakian Second Division but left them to join the Cottagers in 2013. After completing a year with Fulham, Roadak was loaned out to Southern League Division One Central side Farnborough, where he featured five times.

A season later he was sent out on loan once again, this time to Conference Premier League side Welling United.
Box Office: 01302 762576
He made 17 appearances for the Wings before returning back to the Craven Cottage, the Slovakian joined Stanley in January 2017 and made his debut in a 3-0 defeat to fellow Sky Bet League Two side Cheltenham Town.

Originally from Runcorn, Cheshire, Scott Brown was handed a professional deal at Bristol City in 2004 after failing to secure a deal with Premier League side Everton once his youth deal at Goodison Park was up. In his second season at Ashton Gate he was awarded the club’s Young Player of the Year award for his impressive performances during the 2005/06 campaign. Brown joined at-the-time League One side Cheltenham Town in 2007, before being ruled out for the rest of the season after sustaining a broken leg. After spending time with Fleetwood Town, Macclesfield Town, Morecambe, Port Vale and York City, Brown found himself closer to home, signing with non-league side Chester FC. The midfield maestro played an integral role in the Blues winning the Conference North title as well as lifting the Cheshire Senior Cup during his first and only season at the Deva Ground. Brown has also played for Grimsby Town and Southport, the latter of the two under now-manager John Coleman before signing on the dotted line with Stanley on January 27 2016.
MIDFIELD MAESTRO
08 | SCOTT BROWN
John Coleman spent majority of his footballing career in the lower leagues of English football. He was regarded as one of the most prolific goalscorers in non-league history, finding the back of the net more than 500 times in a 20-year career. In the final two years of his playing career, Coleman took up the post of player/manager at Ashton United, before hanging up his boots in 1999 to join Accrington Stanley for the first time. His 12-and-a-half year tenure at the Crown Ground, now formally known as the Wham Stadium, saw Accrington achieve three promotions, seeing them enter the Football League in 2006. At the time of his 2013 departure to Rochdale, Coleman was the third longest serving manager in England, behind Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger. The Liverpudlian also managed Southport and Sligo Rovers before returning to Stanley at the start of 2014/15 season.
03 | MARK HUGHES
DEFENSIVE ROCK Originally from Liverpool, Mark Hughes’ allegiances are with the blue half of Merseyside – where he progressed through the youth team to take up the position of reserve team captain in 2004. After securing his professional contract with the Toffees, he was y sent out on loan to at-the-time League Two side Stockport County. His 13-year stay at Goodison Park came to an end on of transfer deadline day in January 2007, when the defender joined Northampton Town for an undisclosed fee.
He spent two seasons at Sixfields before moving to Australian side North Queensland Fury. The defender was an instant hit down under as he scooped the club’s Player of the Season award alongside the Player’s Player award and the people’s choice award. He returned to England a season later, spending time at Bury, Morecambe and Stevenage before moving to Accrington.
2 4
Billy Kee joined his local side Leicester City as a youth player before being rewarded with a professional deal with the Foxes in 2009. On the same day that he signed his contract, Kee, was sent out on loan to Accrington Stanley – making his league debut for Stanley in a 1-0 defeat to South Yorkshire side Rotherham United. Accrington and Leicester agreed that Kee should stay until the end of the season at the Crown Ground, he signed off with a brace against Chesterfield in a 2-0 win. The forward spent a season down on the south coast with Torquay United, before signing for Burton Albion in 2011, he was hit at the Pirelli Stadium, finding the back of the net more 40 times during his three year stay. That brought him a move to Scunthorpe, where he moved on from back to Accrington.

Rovers youth team continued their league programme with a 2-1 defeat at Chesterfield and a 2-2 draw against Hartlepool. In both games the Rovers youngsters dominated large spells of each first half but conceded very late goals after coming under some sustained and direct pressure. Against Chesterfield they led for a long time through a James Morris strike before two goals in the last 10 minutes (the winner coming in stoppage time), following lapses in concentration, saw three points slip away. Against Hartlepool another two James Morris goals in the first half saw them in control but following a strong start to the second half and missed opportunities that should have had the game sown up Rovers conceded an equaliser late on. Academy Manager Kieran Scarff said:: “We have begun to put together next years group and are working with them to give them a head start in terms of under 18 football. In both recent games there have been some positive signs. “In a lot of our play we have continued to show an understanding of our playing identity but have ultimately struggled when teams have been chasing the game and consequently become more direct against us. It is important we support the development of the players in being able to be effective against this sort of challenge” ROVERS XI | Leverton, Walker, Barker, Dunnet, Amos, Fletcher, James, Prior, Overton, Henderson, Morris. What makes this even more remarkable is the fact that his
Club NEWS Rovers concluded their year-long partnership with the British Heart Foundation in style last weekend. A bucket collection at the home game with Luton Town raised £763, which was added to a cheque for close to £6,000 presented to the charity by Rovers director Terry Bramall before the match.

This smashed the £5,000 target set for the duration of the partnership.
Box Office: 01302 762576
The innovative link between the national charity and the football club has seen a number of joint initiatives, with bucket collections at a number of home matches just the tip of the iceberg. The third kit Rovers had to create in order to meet EFL requirements was dedicated to the cause, with an all-white design featuring a single red hoop in the shape of a healthy heartbeat to raise awareness while keep with club traditions. This kit was worn in the 5-1 win at Morecambe back in September to avoid a clash with Rovers two main kits, while it was worn again during last week’s match which was dedicated to the charity.
We also paid a visit to one of their stores in town earlier in the season as part of the Blair Pitch Project, where Matty Blair gave away copies of Fifa17 on the day of release to fans who found him via social media clues. Gavin Baldwin, chief executive at Club Doncaster said: “Heart disease affects us all in some way and so for us it’s important that we’ve been working with the BHF to be a part of the fight against it. We are serious about this partnership so I’m delighted that staff together with supporters and suppliers, have already excelled in their fundraising.” Lauren Mallinson, BHF partnership manager north added: “It’s thanks to the dedicated efforts of our supporters, including our corporate partners, that the BHF is able to fund our Nation of Lifesavers – a nation where everyone knows how to save a life. The amount raised already through this partnership is incredible and we look forward to the final total.” For more information on how the BHF works with corporate partners, as well as how your business can get involved, visit www.bhf.org.uk.

Although the Government had asked the FA to suspend all midweek football, this did not take immediate effect. As a result, Rovers were able to play their re-arranged home match with Barrow on the afternoon of Thursday 13th March 1947. The match kicked off at 4.30pm and despite the inconvenient time a decent crowd, which eventually totalled 6,998, assembled to watch. Rovers again fielded an unchanged line-up: Archie Ferguson; Harry Tomlinson Bill Corbett; Cecil Stirland, Sid Bycroft, Bob McFarlane; Jackie Kirkaldie, Jackie Thompson, Clarrie Jordan, Paul Todd, Ralph Maddison. Snow had fallen on Doncaster again during the week and the match was played on a white pitch with the lines swept and painted blue. Rovers dominated from start to finish, with Maddison, who gave his opposite number Milne a torrid time, having an outstanding game. Rovers ran out 8-0 winners, and but for some excellent work by Roxburgh in the Barrow goal could have won more convincingly. Jackie KIRKALDIE Jordan and Kirkaldie both scored twice, with Todd,
Thompson, Maddison and an own goal by Barrow left-back Quigley completing the scoring. The result put Rovers nine points clear of Rotherham United, although the Millmoor side now had two games in hand.
Jackie THOMSON
Two days later, Rovers were at Boothferry Park to meet Hull City. The game had been designated as the Supporters Club’s annual outing, and a few thousand Doncastrians swelled the crowd to 29,579. Boothferry Park had only opened at the start of the season and was already an impressive arena, but a combination of a frozen sub-soil and melted snow had left it covered with large puddles and the pitch was barely playable. Nevertheless, the game was given the go-ahead and Rovers kept the same XI that had overcome Barrow. The conditions made fluent football impossible and the match soon became a war of attrition. Maddison had a chance to put Rovers ahead before the interval but spooned his shot over the bar. Early in the second half
Ralph MADDISON
All eyes now turned to London, where the FA and the Football League met on Sunday 16th March to discuss their response to the suspension of midweek Paul TODD football. Various suggestions, including playing on Sundays, holding matches behind closed doors and cancelling the season had been proposed. The last one was particularly alarming to Rovers as it would mean their efforts since August had all been in vain. Fortunately, common sense prevailed and the parties
agreed to extend the season until the second Saturday in June (14th June). Winter wages for players would also be extended to that date. The sigh of relief from the Doncaster area could probably be heard in London when the decision was announced. So Rovers could now get on with the task of sorting out the rest of their programme. They had played 30 games, three more than their main rivals and would finish the season on 7th June with a home fixture against York City. Time would tell as to whether that would be a day of celebration.
47 Box Office: 01302 762576
Bycroft did well to rob Brown just as the home centre-forward was poised to shoot and the conditions thwarted Davidson who slipped after being put through by Chadwick. The only goal came after 76 minutes when a Rovers corner led to a goalmouth scramble Clarrie JORDAN and Jordan, lying prone, was able to nudge the ball over the line with his head. Hull forced four successive corners in the dying stages, but Rovers held on. With Rotherham again inactive, they were now eleven points clear at the top of Division Three (North).

BELLES
The Belles put in a hard fought display as they beat local rivals Sheffield FC to progress into the fifth round of the FA Women's Cup and earn a trip to Chelsea. One goal was enough for the Belles to secure victory over Sheffield and that was thanks to Courtney Sweetman-Kirk's penalty. This was the Belles first competitive game of 2017 after reaching the fourth round due to receiving a walkover after Watford Ladies conceded the tie. Emma Coates' side were on top from the off with Sophie Barker and Kirsty Hanson testing Sheffield keeper Juliana Draycott.
48 Box Office: 01302 762576
The Belles continued to turn the screw and were able to unlock the defence time after time with striker Courtney Sweetman-Kirk going close on several occasions. The striker being judged to have pushed a Sheffield defender before heading into the net. It was in controversial fashion that the Belles took the lead. A floated cross caused a collision between two players with the Sheffield defender accused of handling the ball deliberately. Referee Law Bik Chi had no hesitation and pointed to the spot. Sweetman-Kirk stood up and slotted her penalty past Draycott. Sheffield worked relentlessly to find an equaliser before half time but the Belles kept them at bay, forcing the home side to shoot from range.
Belles beat local rivals Sheffield FC TO PROGRESS
Belles started the brighter of the two in the second half in which saw chances for either side few and far between. Hanson continued to impress on her Belles bow, but she could only fire high and wide. Sheffield went close with two efforts from Ellie Gilliatt who endeavoured on two mazy runs but the returning Nicky Davies was able to keep her out twice. The Welsh keeper was called into action again with Natasha Flint prodding towards goal but the Belles’ new keeper was down low to smother her attempt. Former Sheffield player Barker had the chance to wrap up the game late on but for a brilliant challenge from Carla Ward, before Sweetman-Kirk failed to put the game to bed after Draycott was caught up field following a corner. A professional second half from Emma Coates’ side who dug in to book a place in the FA Women's Cup fifth round.
