Series zero was discontinued in September 2016 with the arrival of Apple Watch Series 1 & 2. The Series 0 had an aluminium metal case. It ran on Apple's own WatchOS 3 and offered up to 18hrs of battery life. The Series 0 also had the OLED Retina Show and IP7 Water Resistant + splash-proof feature. However, the watch ran on a single core processor and lacked a GPS antenna. Apple Watch Series 1 & 2 – Released in September 2016 Apple Watch Series1 & 2 were an upgrade to their previous version, i.e. Series 0. Apple used a dual-core processor in their Series1 watches. Apple Watch 1 was released with Apple's own WatchOS 3 and later upgraded with the latest WatchOS4. Series 1 also supports the IP7 waterresistant splash-proof feature. However, Apple didn't offer GPS antenna in it Apple discontinued Series2 Watches and replaced with an upgraded version, Apple Watch Series 3. Series 2 had a built- in GPS antenna, which lacked in previous versions. A report from Canalys says Apple Watch sales exceeded over $2.6 billion in the fourth quarter and estimated 80% total revenue of the smartwatch market. Canalys also estimates Apple sold 11.9 million units of Apple watch in 2016. The huge success of Apple Watches in the market
has led many iOS application development companies to develop custom apps for Apple Watches. One of the major drawbacks of the predecessor was, it lacked a cellular network connectivity.

The watch is available in two colours, Space Black and Silver. Apple has enhanced Siri with Series 3 for better user interaction.
