Welcome to this RAP (Radical Art Production) 05 Studio RAP Launch edition. RAP was founded in 2018 as a contemporary voice for Africans and particularly the African Diaspora based in the UK.
RAP has a sole aim of confronting the ongoing disenfranchisement and marginalisation of Africans in mainstream arts, academia, politics and media. We do this using creativity as a weapon and by engaging with artists, the public, organisations, companies and institutions to advocate for African creativity.
During 2024 we are working with collaborators and partners to actively challenge these issues and facilitate creative engagement, dialogue and production. Our aim is to encourage creative independence, collaboration, self-determination and opportunities. RAP Manifesto

Studio RAP
Studio RAP is a new African network to support and develop creative collaborations outside the usual suspects commissioned by mainstream academic, cultural industries and media sectors. We want to support creative activists currently under the radar by collaborating with a cohort of radical and unusual suspects.
To start we will be publishing an African Creative Producers directory in Summer 2024.

espaciok3 is an interdisciplinary arts label, creative producer and consultancy based in London. We specialise in interdisciplinary practice in the creative industries sector. EspacioK3 is a K3 Media initiative to encourage radical independent art activities and production for individuals and artists alike. EspacioK3 seeks more diversity of opportunity (in the creative industries) for the marginalised African Diaspora and the Over 50s. Current projects include the EspacioK3 Art Salon, Studio RAP and Provisional VA&PN exploring artists and artificial intelligence.

Rules For Africans
Don’t worship the gods of other races. If another race hates you then so must the god they worship.
Don’t eat or feed your children nasty chicken and other fast food. Cook it yourself or buy it from your own people.
Don’t give your ideas or work away to other people without considering its commercial value.
Don’t malign or oppress your own people. Do you really hate yourself?
Don’t ignore your gut feeling when something doesn’t feel right. It probably isn’t right.
Don’t fight against people suffering the same shit as you.
There’s sure to be an enemy oppressing you both.
Don’t be complacent or apathetic. Speak out against wrong and injustice and be conscious.
Don’t give them your biometric data and DNA.
Don’t socially, economically, spiritually, sexually or politically pimp your own race or its resources.
Don’t laugh after mad people. You might lose your mind too one day.
Don’t trust politicians and business people. They all want something from you.
Don’t waste your life.
Try to do things that make you feel you contribute to human existence no matter how small.
Don’t walk into the traps set by those that hate you.
Use the brain you have in your head to protect yourself and imagine your future.
And oh, don’t be a hypocrite!

I am a firstborn son of the pioneering Windrush Generation. I am a new creature that is yet to be studied. Although I was born and raised in England, unless I explain the spirit of what and where I’m coming from, I will remain forever unknown to everyone except Jamaicans.
I’m speaking as a son that is wrapped within the human story of his parents. No matter what life threw at them, my parents frowned upon violence. So, in their memories, the course of peace I must follow in their honour is well and truly defined.
To the faces behind the energies that persecuted and oppressed my parents’ generation, I’m going to do you a favour. I’m not going to name and shame in calling you by your individual names or titles. But there is one name that I’ll use to address you all.
So. Hello wicked.
I have three questions to those who represent those who extended the false invitation to the Windrush Generation. Before you invited my parents over here, didn’t you have documentation detailing how strong Jamaicans were at working in hostile conditions, until they dropped down dead from fatigue and heat exhaustion?
Here’s another one for you to chew over. If you told my parents that they would no longer be welcome and were going to be sent back to Jamaica once their energy was spent, do you think they would’ve willingly come from a place where so many go for their holidays?

Don’t Chat Your Business!
There is always an element of risk associated with talking to other people about your creative plans, projects or productions. It is even more risky in the modern age with the plethora of technology and algorithms waiting to data grab and nyam your every thought, word or action.
And remember, if you don’t reveal your plans before you implement them then nobody can poach them, intentionally or otherwise. The BBC and other corporations don’t make money by giving their intellectual property away for free. They have an army of (publicly-funded) lawyers to protect the ideas and work they appropriate and own.
Individual people, artists and creative producers do not generally have legal representation. So don’t reveal what you can’t protect, don’t make verbal contracts, get it in writing and be aware that the creative industries sector is awash with pimps looking to exploit the inexperienced, unaware or desperate creative.

The
People Of Africa. By that I mean all modern humans. The time has come for us to sit down, open our minds and ears and digest a few home truths. There are some of us amongst us; some accuse the Neanderthal, who harbour deep-seated, imperialist and racist delusions. A main delusion is that the colour of a human’s skin is somehow directly related to the intelligence of that human. This is obviously absurd. It is like saying that the performance of an automobile is directly related to its paint job or that a grey squirrel was only able to vanish the (evidently more attractive) red squirrel due to its grey skin which allowed it to blend in with the urban environment and the rural idyll thus disenfranchising the lovely red squirrel. The delusion of superiority is a long-held human illness. It charts its origins way back to the beginning of time when the first amphibians left the cold dampness of the sea to crawl onto fertile dry land using the one primate leg they had (over time) naturally selected and grown through will power and judicious mating. But the point is that many white apes are behaving like gorillas on spice instead of using their intelligence and focusing their anger on the actual white apes oppressing us all. Are we not, globally and in the majority, sick to the back teeth of existing under regime of lies, abuse, disenfranchisement, draconian legislation, environmental destruction, rampant greed and delusion? Why must those with the least be repeatedly sanctioned for the smallest infringement whilst so-called public servants of the people (politicians, priests, military etc) operate, connive and swindle the people without even admonishment let alone criminal prosecution? Why do we accept a layer of privileged, introspective, self-serving, inhuman and (much like the Hapsburgs) inbred psychopaths to operate above us and against us and pay them for the privilege?
The time has come People Of Africa for us to stand up, raise our arms and shout a few home truths. These might include, enough of this shit!
