Był ostatni dzień października. Rodzice wyszli na cmentarz, aby uporządkować groby bliskich. Przeziębione dzieci zostały same w domu.
It was the last day of October. Parents went to the cemetery to clean up the graves of their relatives. Children who had a cold, stayed at home alone.
Weszły do pokoju. Karol włączył telewizor i usiadł na kanapie obok Kingi. Zaczęli oglądać horror, film, którego nie pozwalali im oglądać rodzice.
The children came to the room. Carol turned on the TV and sat on the sofa next to Kinga. They started to watch a horror film that their parents had told them not to watch.
Nagle zgasło światło. Pokój pogrążył się w ciemnościach. Dzieci usłyszały dziwne dźwięki dochodzące z pokoju Karola.
Suddenly, the lights turned off. The room turned into total darkness. The children begun to hear strange sounds coming from Carol’s room.

Postanowiły to sprawdzić. Kinga zapaliła latarkę w telefonie i ruszyli w kierunku pokoju.
They decided to check it out. Kinga switched on the torch on her mobile phone and they went to the room.
Ostrożnie otworzyli drzwi. Ledwie zdążyli wejść, a latarka zgasła. Bateria w telefonie wyczerpała się. Zapanowała ciemność, którą delikatnie rozświetlał blask księżyca wpadający przez okno.
They opened the door slowly. Then suddenly the phone turned off, and they were wrapped in total darkness, which was softly brightened by the moonlight.
Wiatr gwałtownie otworzył okno. Powiewała firanka. A spod łóżka Karola zaczęły wyglądać tajemnicze, świecące oczy.
Suddenly, the wind opened the window. The curtains started to sway gently left and right. Under Carol’s bed appeared some mysterious, gleaming eyes.

Drzwi starej szafy gwałtownie się otworzyły. Z szafy wyleciała szeleszcząca postać. To był duch. Przerażone dzieci krzyknęły.
The door of the old wardrobe opened and a crispy creature came out. It was a ghost. The scared children started to shout.

Chciały uciekać, ale usłyszały tajemnicze kroki dochodzące od strony salonu. Ktoś zbliżał się do pokoju. Nie było drogi ucieczki. Kinga i Karol chwycili się za ręce.
They wanted to run away but they heard some mysterious steps coming from the living room. Somebody was approaching. There was no escape. Kinga and Carol held their hands.
Do pokoju wszedł tajemniczy gość w czarnym kapeluszu i czarnym płaszczu. Dzieci zamarły z przerażenia. A mysterious guest, in a black hat and a black coat, entered the room. The children were scared to death.
Czarna postać zapaliła światło. To tata Dariusz wrócił do domu.
The person in black turned on the light. It was Dariusz, Carol’s father. He had come back home.

Wszystko stało się jasne. Duchem okazał się być stary plastikowy worek, który wyleciał z szafy, a świecącymi w ciemnościach oczami były papierki po cukierkach.
Everything became clear. The ghost appeared to be an old plastic bag and the mysterious, gleaming eyes were just candy wrappers.
