Note: RIBA Stage 2 means we have reached Concept Design Level which includes outline proposals for structural design, building services systems, outline specifications and preliminary cost information and strategies. If you would like to see a full RIBA Plan of Work Table explaining the next stages, please visit www.ribaplanofwork.com
Where we’re heading… Comments will be collated and submitted back to Carmody Groarke later in the month and any alterations to the plans will begin. Project team meetings will continue to take place. We will be looking to recruit an Exhibition Design Company in the upcoming months to oversee the design of exhibition spaces and work alongside internal exhibition staff to develop the layouts of the new galleries.

Visitor Quote of the Month: ‘Not enough time, even a week would not be enough time!’
FESTIVAL OF ARCHAEOLOGY AT THE MUSEUM Our fantastic volunteers have led tours of the Archaeology stores at All Saints as well as offered special talks at the Roman Town House. One of the best preserved Roman Villas in Britain and with beautiful mosaics, the Town House is a hidden gem that is always worth a visit.
Volunteers Needed
Volunteers hosted tours of All Saints Church to see behind the scenes and the 98.5% of our collection that is not displayed! The Festival weekend saw Vikings invade the museum with the help of Wessex Archaeology. From hand to hand combat displays, Norse cooking demonstrations and gripping Viking Saga story telling, it was an engaging and interactive couple of days. A particular favourite with people were the craft workshops which included metalworking and armour design but also how everyday implements were fashioned such as bone needles.
.
Given to the museum for the annual book sale, or part of the deaccessioned property of the library/museum, the sale of these books will continue to help fund our Museum. Contact Peter in the Library in the first instance, either on Tuesday mornings or on library@doorsetcountymuseum.org
We continue to require cover, particularly over the summer weekends. If you, or someone you know, is interested in having some shifts, please get in touch with either: Jill Minchin on
