An ancient Shiva Shrine in shambles, please lend a helping hand.. L ord Sundareshwarar with Goddess Kundalambigai temple is situated in Jamin Suthamalli village, Udayarpalayam tauk, Ariyalur district which is 20 kms from Ariyalur, Jeyankondam and Kumbakonam. It is one of the hundreds of ancient temples in Ariyalur district which is dilapidated and in shambles. It is built by Great Sundara chozhan alias Paranthaka Chozhan 2, father of Great Rajaraja Chozhan dated 940 A.D. During his ebullient ruling only, the Chozha kingdom became a vast empire by annexing vast areas. under his rein. The temple is situated in 3 acres of land with huge walls around. In those days the people celebrated big festivals like Vinayaga Chathuethi, Pannguni Uthirum, Aruthra Darsanam, Mahashivrathri etc in the temple. The people used to celebrate mariiages in the temple premeses. The temple is said to be built by a court danseuse in the palace of Sundara chozhan named Chitravalli who was a devout devotee of Lord Shiva and the village is named after her as Suthamalli. Now, no ritual is taking
place for the past 30 years and is kept in a bad condition. I had the occasion to visit this ancient temple in 2000? and was very much moved. As a first step, I invited the villagers to the temple and I myself conducted all abhisekams to God and Goddess with pujas and took a vow to start kumbabishekam works which the villagers also yearned and cooperated. Soon village committees were formed for the replenishment of the temple. Appeals were made to the government for assistance but to no avail till date. With the benevolent and kind patronage by devotees especially the Founder of Karpagam University, Coimbatore, the
construction is in progress. The Balabishekam was conducted on 4.11.2012.The temple is under the control of HR&CE,,Ariyalur and Archeological Survey of India. Another notable factor is that the temple's Panchaloha idols were stolen by international smuggler Kapoor on 2004 and he is in jail. 10 idols were brought from America and Australia and is kept in Kumbalonam temple vault. I profusely appeal to all devotees to lend a helping hand in the early performance of Kumbabhisekam to this great ancient temple and be a benefactor of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi. For any assistance, please call to S.Ganapathy, Cell 7358768630

Prioritise road safety measures
It is discernible to note that a poor oversight by the government is the perplexing cause of concern in the country on road safety measures. The number of vehicles population in the country in two, three and four wheelers are on an increasing scale year by year and had increased five times in the last 5 years. There is hardly any government action in properly laying roads and thereby maintain it, is an woeful task which has to be condemned and deplorable to state. Still the roads are not S. Ganapathy 7358768630 widened and more flyovers has to be built to take care of the necessary space for safely plying the vehicles, taking cognizance to increasing vehicle population. The roads are always jampacked at any point of time. and traffic violations become mammoth and awry. The required road safety measures throw into winds that cause irreparable damages of multiple road accidents that cause even death. The tale of pedestrians are horrowful and dismal. Senior citizens, children suffer very much to cross the roads at peak hours therby risking their life. There is no separate foot path, cycle path and bus path etc and even if provided, that is illegally occupied by street vendors. The pedestrians are forced to walk on the roads at the mercy of motorists. Even if complained, the government is not taking any actions in removing the street vendors mostly owing to political pressure. Payng mamools to anti social elements have become the order of the day. Even the court orders are not complied with in the removal of street shops. The road accidents play a vital role in causing deaths and disabilities. The death toll in the year 2017 alone jumps to 48746 and 20457 respectively caused to 2 wheeler riders and pedestrians which is nerve wracking. The pedestrians death are increasing year by year and is a great cause of concern. The first cause is faulty road designs like faulty unscientific speed breakers and bumpy roads etc. Bad driving, drunken driving etiquets are the prime cause of death. The recent study says that even golden quadrilateral roads are unsafe for motorists and the roads are badly maintained. The road rules are not being properly followed up and most of the accidents happen in jumping traffic signals, over speeding and blindly overtaking vehicles. The foot path, foot overbridges, pedestrian crossings, traffic signals, traffic police and provision of para medical teams are in short supply and has to be strengthened. The police should prosecute immediately the law breakers and traffic violators with hefty fines to arrest the trend. Wearing helmets and safety belts while driving is a must. The Central Motor Vehicles Act is a welcome feature which has strong provisions of road safety measures should be legislated and the road safety is the paramount need of the hour in a developing country like India. There should be huge budgetary provisions for laying new roads and for the proper maintenance and upkeep of existing roads which has to be road worthy and people centric.

he great Maharishis like Sukesar, Satyakamar, Gargiar, Kousalyar, Bargavar and Kabandi who longed for realization of Brahmn always absorbed themselves in Brahma Nishtai met together They all wanted to know the truth about their misconceptions and doubts on life and wished for rhe proper clarifications. They decided in conclusion to meet Maharishi Pippalathar who is only fit to answer
their doubts with proper clarifications. They all prostrated before him to get the answer with samith grass in their hands. The great rishi Kousalyar then asked Maharishi Pippalathar from where the prana comes from and how it enters into the body? How is it differentiated itself from others and how it exists? How it is sustained in the internal organs? Then Sage Pippalathar paused for a while and replied that you are asking a complex

question. As you are wise, adept and a Brahmarishi, I am really eager to answer your queries. This prana is originated from Atma, pure consciousness. How a shadow coexists with the human form, the prana also coexists with the atma. By the actions of the mind, the prana also enters into the body.Likewise a king appoints many officers to supervise the villages, this mukyaprana orders the other pranas. When breathing, it is sustained in rectum, eyes, ears, mouth and nose. The prana in the umblical card is called samana. When food is taken, samanan only digests by a fire called Jadaragni and taken to all organs in the form of blood. There are seven fires in the body. They are like hot balls like two eyes, two ears, two nostrils and one mouth. (to be continued)
Are we Indian fans truly devoted to the legend M.S. Dhoni? When the young Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant scored his first Test hundred in the Oval Test, talks about abandoning M.S. Dhoni from the Indian One day team re-surfaced. Pant’s achievement was overshadowed by the noises made by the Dhoni detractors calling for his head. The noises grew louder when Dhoni continued to struggle with the bat in the Asia Cup. The clear vision of the selectors : For a change, the selectors and the team management are clear in their vision of Dhoni’s role leading up to the World Cup 2019. They all crave for Dhoni to be present for the allimportant World Cup in England next year. It is only the Indian fans who are divided in their loyalty towards M.S. Dhoni. For once, the selectors can’t be blamed for this sorry state of affairs. Dhoni’s One-day record in the last two years : During the last 2 years starting from 01/09/2016 to 31/08/2018, Dhoni had batted in 33 ODIs and remained not out in 11 of those innings. He has scored a total of 1128 runs in that period averaging 51.27 per innings. Only Virat Kohli has had a better average in this two year period. There is nothing new to add about Dhoni’s out of the world wicket-keeping skills. It is true that Dhoni’s form has not been all that encouraging in the Asia Cup. Dhoni is always consistent with the bat in spite of waning finishing skills. True Dhoni’s strike rate is not that high as it used to be before. To make matters worse, his waning finishing skills has neither helped him nor his team’s cause. To be fair to Dhoni, he should not be expected to finish off each and every match. There are others too in the team who can play that role. But the psyche of an average Indian fan is tuned into Dhoni finishing off so many matches from impossible situations. Now when Dhoni is struggling to finish off matches as before, he takes the fall. It is now high time the team should groom some other youngsters for that important role of a finisher. Dhoni at No 4 : It was always known that with the passage of time, Dhoni’s finishing skills will diminish. Therefore, the better option for the team management would be to promote him to the no. 4 slot in the batting order, allowing him to anchor the innings. Even otherwise,
C. Namasivayam @ 94440 06343
the no. 4 position in the batting line -up is vacant as of now with barely 8 months to go for the World Cup. Someone like a Hardik Pandya can take the role of a new finisher in the team and who better than MS Dhoni to look up to. Dhoni not standing in the way of the youngsters In the current Indian team, other than Rishabh Pant, no other youngster is waiting in the queue to replace Dhoni. Pant too came into international prominence only after his recent Test century. Wriddhiman Saha is not at all in the race in white ball cricket. Saha at 33 is not so young anymore . Dinesh Karthik and Parthiv Patel should not have any regrets as they made their respective debuts much before Dhoni. Had they latched onto their opportunities, Dhoni would not have come into the team in the first place. Hence, the argument that Dhoni stood in their way doesn’t hold good. If we were to apply the same logic for wrong reasons, during the days of India’s formidable fab-four: Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and V.V.S Laxman, so many other aspiring middle-order batsmen of that generation couldn’t get to represent the country. After playing so many years in domestic cricket, such ill-fated players simply faded into oblivion. Coming back to Karthik and Parthiv Patel, both are at the wrong side of 30 and in all probability will hang up their boots along with M.S. Dhoni. Hence, Rishabh Pant is the only practical alternative left for M.S. Dhoni. It will not be in the interest of the team to make such a big change ahead of the World Cup. Team India needs Dhoni more than the other way round : With the World Cup fast approaching, Team India should be blessed to have an experienced campaigner like Dhoni in their side. This is not the right time to experiment with a youngster like Rishabh Pant. Pant could be Dhoni’s under-study till the end of the World Cup and should take over from there.
Dhoni knows when to retire Of all the people in the world, Dhoni himself knows when to retire exactly. He retired from Test Cricket when nobody expected him to do so. Dhoni has set his eyes on the World Cup in England and would most probably retire immediately after that. The selectors and the Indian fans had been patient to two other legends of Indian Cricket in the past. The great Kapil Dev prolonged his career to go past the bowling records of Sir Richard Hadlee. Another legend Sachin Tendulkar had set his eyes on the magical figure of 200 Test matches. Dhoni, who had twice won the World Cup for India in different formats, is by no means a lesser legend. For the selfless services that he has rendered to the Indian team, he should be allowed to retire on his own terms. Dhoni is not the one who is going to overstay. It is now time for the Indian fans to show their loyalty towards Dhoni The West Indies Cricket Board, while in tatters, managed to honour their twice World Cup-winning captain Darren Sammy by renaming a Cricket stadium in his name at St Lucia. Dhoni too deserves all the accolades like Darren Sammy. The Indian selectors have made up their mind to continue with Dhoni till the World Cup. It is only the Indian fans who are shaky in their perspective. They should bear in mind that Dhoni has done nothing poor in terms of performance that warrants his exclusion from the team. The other contenders are not as good as Dhoni by any stretch of the imagination. At this juncture, the Indian fans should show patience and maturity. They should stand behind their hero M.S. Dhoni, who is at the autumn of his cricket career. The wholehearted support and the prayers of the fans will go a long way in Dhoni finishing his career on a high by winning the World Cup for India next year.

Daan Utsav D aan
Utsav was initially known as The Joy of Giving Week (JGW). Daan Utsav is India’s festival of philanthropy. It aims to spread love, joy and happiness amongst the society by creating awareness and encouraging participation through the experience ‘of giving’. It motivates people to engage actively in the acts of givingmoney, time, resource or skill. Daan Utsav is celebrated for a week starting from Gandhi Jayanti (Oct 2-8) till 8th of October. Eurokids has been associated with Daan Utsav for more than 5 years. The event is annually flagged off with a cyclothon in Besant Nagar beach. It is
heartening to see kids below 5 years of age enthusiastically participate and inaugurate the event. The fervent energy of the kids is contagious and makes the event an instant hit with the adults. The aim is to create awareness and spread the message of sharing and caring amongst all strata of society. Throughout the week children engage in activities ranging from wish tree; to happy dot chain; to play dates. Over the years kids have done small acts like making sandwiches, to making thank you cards for those who silently work without any
expectations. The whole week is interspersed with tasks and activities which encourage the grain of sharing with those who are less fortunate than us. Eurokids Chennai has become a flag bearer to this movement and as a result this year 1000+ centres of Eurokids all across India will be holding and spreading this beacon of ‘giving’. To conclude in the famous words of Winston Churchill, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
