The most important class you can take is technique. A great chef is first a great technician. ‘If you are a jeweler, or a surgeon or a cook, you have to know the trade in your hand. You have to learn the process. The only way to learn it,

is through repetition.

OBJECTIVE

•

The objective of the project was to design a book, focusing on specifically developing a cohesive type system, to communicate information on a chosen subject.

APPROACH

For this project I focused on shoe design in the NBA.

PROJECT

Not only have basketball designer produced some

Foot of the Mountain

of the most icon designs in the last decade, but the

CLASS

shoes themselves have shaped culture and fashion

Type Systems

around the world. In this book I combine type systems

INSTRUCTOR

and imagery together to exemplify the beautiful mar-

riage between design and basketball.

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the project was to research local problems in San Francisco and form a brand specifically to solve that issue.

APPROACH

My project focussed on how the unhealthy culture of

PROJECT

overworking. Often, tech employees work too hard

and take shorter lunches while they eat their desks.

CLASS

Studies showed employees were afraid to take their

Visual Thinking

full hour for fear of looking lazy and being unpro-

ductive Unfortunately, they were less efficient in the

OBJECTIVE

••

The objective of this project was to pick a subject of interest and design an app around an area of need within the chosen topic.

APPROACH

The subject I chose was fashion, specifically fashion

PROJECT

education. Fashion can be very polarizing; where

White after Labor Day

it can be an obsession to some, and a different lan-

guage to others. There’s an endless amount of fashion

set out to bridge the gap between the two, and cre-

OBJECTIVE

• •

The objective of the project was to design a conceptual book, using type, color, and photography to visually narrarate of communicate information on a chosen subject.

APPROACH

I chose to focus on the subject of the ocean which

PROJECT

has fastinated me for a very long time. The vastness

and unknown about the earth’s bodies of water has

both interested and struck fear in many, and so I

MealofTicket Out the Woods

OBJECTIVE

The objective of the project was to create a book design using text and pictures provided, focussing explicitly on typesettiing, type composition, and grid work.

APPROACH

One og my goals of this project was to start working

PROJECTW

with justified type, focussing on tracking and manip-

ulating the text line by line. I chose to stick with

CLASS

a pretty badsic grid to allow the beauty and geome-

INSTRUCTOR

were put in grayscale, yet all the uniqueness and

of that I experimented with a lot of scale in terms of
