Christian Moore “I have spent many years developing my technique of ‘sculpting' cold cast bronze directly onto the surface of my works. The creation of each piece is a laborious process, but filled with love and passion for the art. The titles of my works are as much a part of each piece as the raw materials themselves, and it all starts with the name.”
Lynn McGregor RSW “The source of my work is landscape in memory. I work intuitively, seeking a balance between the various elements of texture, movement and geometry that I find in the landscape around me, using energetic overlayerings of colour and blocking out shapes and marks as I work.”
Autumn in bronze & blue Christian Moore is a contemporary artist specializing in creating works that incorporate bronze and organic materials on hessian. He worked as a fashion illustrator in London for over a decade for premium fashion brands and magazines such as Chanel and Tatler. After leaving London and moving to Scotland to raise his family, Christian's surroundings and focus changed. His enchantment with the natural world now provides the inspiration for his paintings. As with his earlier illustrative work, his current pieces remain true to his overall 'less is more' approach. Lynn McGregor was born in Fife and now lives in Argyll, where her studio overlooks Loch Awe. She trained at Edinburgh College of Art and was elected RSW in 2001. In her work, she allows herself to be led by the paint and the marks, then later takes control of the medium, hopefully without losing the initial immediacy. She shows regularly at the annual exhibitions of RSW at the Royal Scottish Academy, Edinburgh, in galleries throughout the UK, and her paintings are held in numerous corporate and public collections. “In this exhibition, we present two artists with contrasting styles and technique, but also with a clear harmony in their inspiration, observation and love of their surrounding landscape.” Jane Frame, Gallery Director.
