Professional Career: Considerable experience as a Registered General Nurse, District Nurse, Community Macmillan Nurse, In-Patient Unit Manager and Lecturer in Palliative Care. She is also an accredited facilitator for Advanced Communication Skills for Senior Healthcare Professionals.
Nurse in Cardio Thoracic Intensive Care. Joined the Hospice in 1996 and after successfully developing her career in palliative care was appointed Sister in Charge on the In-Patient Unit. She gained Community experience whilst working with the Palliative Care Nurse Specialists at the Hospice. During this time she developed an interest in education and was appointed Practice Development Facilitator within the Education Department in 2004. Tessa was promoted to her current post in 2008.

Julie Tilstone
Education Academic Development Administrator Academic Qualifications: NVQ level 3 in Business Administration, C&G Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS). Relevant Additional Training: European Computer Driving Licence, Communication in Palliative Care module.
Professional Career: Extensive experience as a Registered General Nurse in Haematology and General Medicine. Developed an interest in palliative care education as a result of her professional experiences and for 6 years led in the development, coordination and facilitation of in-house palliative and end of life education within the PCT’s of North Staffordshire. Joined the Hospice in 2010 and is currently undertaking her dissertation year of a Masters in Education.
Professional Career: Working within a variety of organisations Julie has many years of administration experience. Since joining the Education Department she has been instrumental in the collaborative partnership development with the University of Wolverhampton. She provides senior secretarial and administrative support to the Education Team and supports students during their studies.

This Award enables professionals from a wide range of clinical, health and social care backgrounds to consolidate and develop their experience in the context of palliative and end of life care.
Entry Requirements
• The applicants will be required to hold a current professional registration to practise or equivalent if from overseas. • A first degree (2.2) in a related subject area. Students who do not have a first degree, but have successfully completed Level 6 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) modules, or who can provide evidence of their ability to pursue successfully the Post Graduate Certificate.
