The mission of the City of Douglasville Parks and Recreation Department is to enhance the interaction of people and the environment in a manner in which is pleasing to all. To provide recreation opportunities to effectively meet and serve the needs of our constituents, the citizens of Douglasville, and those who interact with the Parks system.

The Douglasville Parks and Recreation Department operates five parks within the city limits; the city’s park system totals 150 acres, including many specialty facilities such as ball fields, a swimming pool, fishing lake, walking track, tennis courts, gymnasium, and recreation activity centers. Also included in the park system is West Pines Golf Club and Fowler Field Soccer Complex.

The Jessie Davis Park swimming pool is open May 25TH through Sept 5TH After August 3RD the pool will only open weekends. Labor Day, Sept 2ND, is the last day of operation for the season.

Swimming Pool Reservations Swimming pool reservations for private parties are available during hours when the pool is not open to the public. Pool reservations are $60.00 per two hours, along with $15.00 an hour for a minimum of two Lifeguards.

Athletics
Junior Golf Camp
West Pines Golf Club June 18th – June 21st, 2019 July 16th – July 19th, 2019 Time: 9AM-12PM (Includes lunch) Ages: 7-14 West Pines Golf Club conducts a Junior Golf Camp for youth ages 7-14. Participants will learn rules of the game and course etiquette, along with putting, chipping, and swinging fundamentals. Location: Dates:
TaeKwonDo League of Stars
Douglasville Parks and Recreation adaptive baseball league mission is to provide developmental and progressive sport opportunities to individuals with physical and mental disabilities that improves the quality of life for the participants and their family. Our six (6) week program begins April 13 and is played Saturday mornings and utilizes volunteers to buddy up with participants to enhance their game experience. All equipment is provided by the recreation department including a game jersey and hat. Participants: Ages, 3+ Session Dates: April 13TH – May 18TH (6 game season) Saturday (11:30am-12:00pm) Fees: Free

Tuesday’s 7:30pm-9pm $45 per month.
Children classes Ages 5-13 beginners are Tuesday and intermediate age 14-17 are on Thursday. Time: 6:30-7:30pm. Cost: $65 for 8-week course Students will learn balance/agility coordination, mental sharpness, discipline and self-confidence. Adult Softball
Participation includes 10 weeks of league play, followed by an end of season tournament in May to crown a winner. Winners of each league will receive customized shirts and team award. All leagues are governed by USSSA rules. KDO Camp
Hawthorne Community Center Location: Program Fee: $15 per day per participant Dates: April 8th – April 12th KDO (Kids Day Off) Camp would be considered minicamp sessions for campers during the days that schools aren’t in operation. KDO Camps are modified versions of Camp FUNtastic where campers would engage in varies social, educational, environmental and recreational activities.
Dramatic Arts Class Location: Hawthorne Community Center Program Fee: $40 Dates: April 8th- 12th This class is designed for grades 3rd- 5th, to introduce participants to the exciting world of acting in a noncompetitive, fun, safe and fast paced environment. Students will, ignite their imagination and creativity by creating characters, develop movement, pantomime, improvisation, vocal and storytelling skills, and Build confidence, self-awareness and make new friends!

This “pop up” series class is designed for elementary aged students. During this step by step guided class, participants will be introduced to the basics of painting while creating a “masterpiece” to bring home at the end of the class. Students will also develop artistic and critical thinking skills through creative expression and explore color, texture, other painting terms and techniques.

Ike Owings Community Center Location: Program Fee: $10 per session Dates: March 21st, March 28th, April 11th, April 18th This “pop up” series class is designed for preschool students along with their parents. During this step by step guided class, little tot painters will be introduced to the basics of painting while creating a “masterpiece” to bring home at the end of each class.
CaMP funtastiC (summer Camp)
Location: Hawthorne Community Center Program Fee: $65 weekly per participant, $5 off each additional child Dates: June 3rd- July 27th Time: 7AM-6PM Camp FUNtastic is an 8 week camp that will operate between the hours of 7am- 6pm. The purpose of this camp would be to provide a quality day camp environment for campers. Through providing social, educational, environmental and recreational activities, campers are able to experience a well-rounded program. Activities would range but aren’t limited to arts and crafts, games, swimming, environmental projects, STE(A)M Day and other creative means of expression and recreation.

Jessie Davis Park August 6th, 2019 5PM - 7PM
Our Family Fun Day will take place August 6th at Jessie Davis Park. This will be an opportunity for the community to receive free school supplies while also getting all necessary information to gear back up for school. This event creates an opportunity for parents to sign-up for all upcoming programs and special events (Youth Basketball, Skills & Drills Camp, etc.) for the upcoming school year.

Kids to Parks Day is a national day of play that connects kids and families with their local, state, and national parks. Join us at Hunter Memorial Park for our Spring Fling festivities. There will be food, games, bounce houses, face painting, music, and much more!

Join us at Hunter Park for a day of food, fun, and fellowship as we celebrate America’s Birthday. Fireworks will fire off from West Pines Golf Club at dusk. Sams Club parking lot and Arbor Place Mall will provide the best view.

Dance 4 Flowers
American Sign Language
Location: Ike Owings Community Center Date: August 3rd, 2019 Time: Thursday’s ASL Club – 4PM-5PM Intermediate Class – 5:15PM-6:15PM Beginners Class – 6:30PM-7:30PM Cost: ASL Club - $25 for 6 weeks Beginners/Intermediate Classes $85 for 6 weeks; each class is 1 hour in length with the exception of September 6th which will be a full 2 hours from 5:15PM-7:15PM Are you interested in learning American Sign Language (ASL)? Learning ASL will allow you to communicate using the 3rd most common language used in the United States. ASL is now recognized as a foreign language at the college level and is beginning to be offered in more high schools as a foreign language as well. Learning to sign can open many opportunities for growth in both your personal and professional life and it’s a lot of fun too!

Enhance selfconfidence, discipline, and sportsmanship for boys and girls age 4-17.
Location: Hunter Park Time: Saturdays 1:00PM- 2:00PM (age 2-5), 2:00PM-3:00PM (age 6-12) Cost: $45 per month or $12 per class Tired of TuTu’s and Tiaras? Dance 4 Flowers is a gender neutral dance program for Boys and Girls. Designed for ages 2-12, children will learn Jazz, Hip Hop and Creative Movement all wrapped into one 60 minute class. This Saturday class is guaranteed to be full of fun, high energy and dance technique skills. Dance 4 Flowers is the perfect introductory program for a child that loves to dance but has little dance experience or formal training. The best part is...No dance apparel required! Leggings, Sweatpants and T-shirts are recommended. Dance shoes strongly recommended. Every child that completes the program will participate in a Spring Showcase and receive a T-shirt. Location: Ike Owings Community Center Time: Tues & Thur 4:30PM-5:30PM and 5:30PM-6:30PM, Sat 8:30AM-9:30AM Cost: $45 a month or $15 per class Jazzercise is a pulse-pounding, beat-pumping fitness program that gets you results…fast. It’s a calorietorching, hip swiveling dance party with a hot playlist to distract you from the burn.
