Reflecting on the past year, I am so proud of all that we have accomplished. The Town Green and Amphitheater project is still moving ahead with

construction and will be complete in 2023.

We have hosted many city events like S tranger Things Day, Plaza Bingo, Trivia Nights, and we were finally able to bring back the Independence Day parade. All in all, Douglasville is moving in the right direction, and I am so proud of where our city is headed!

Be sure to stay informed on the latest happenings through our website, DouglasvilleGA.gov or by following us on your favorite social

media platform.

As always, I wish God’s blessings on you, your families, and the City of Douglasville.

BRING ONE CHIPPER for the 2021 RESULTS

Once the presents are opened and the lights removed, give your Christmas tree a new life. Keep Douglasville Beautiful will be hosting their annual Bring One for the Chipper program on Saturday, January 7, 2023, in the Douglasville Home Depot parking lot on the garden center side from 9 am- 3 pm. Citizens can start dropping off trees the day after Christmas.

For over 30 years, this program has allowed residents in Douglas County to recycle their Christmas trees to be reused as mulch. Mulch is donated to playgrounds, government beautification projects,

parks, and individual yards. Citizens are invited to drop off their bare Christmas trees for chipping in the Douglasville Home Depot parking lot and receive a seedling in exchange to plant at home.

The mulch collected from recycled trees is used in our community for the annual MLK Day of Service event.

MANAGER’S DESK

2022 has been a busy year for the city as we’ve made substantial progress on many of our ongoing capital improvement projects.

Recently the City celebrated a construction milestone for State Route 92 by hosting a ribbon cutting to commemorate substantial completion of the highway. This roadway provides much needed quality connectivity and safety for travel north and south through Douglasville, and particularly for the residents of the New Horizons Community. Construction of the Town Green/ Amphitheater continues with an anticipated completion date of Spring 2023. The private development portion of the project will include retail space, flex workspace and multifamily housing.

Renovations are currently underway at Jessie Davis Park. These improvements will help provide more parking, updated equipment, new playgrounds, new walking paths, and a new senior center to provide expanded active adult programs. These renovations are in line with requests via the city’s Parks Master Plan.

In addition to these major projects, the city has continued to prioritize fiscal responsibility. City of Douglasville staff proposed to City Officials to maintain the same millage rate it has used for the past several years. This fiscally conservative approach from the Mayor and Council has provided for major capital improvement projects to continue without a financial strain to the city’s resources or increased property taxes to the
