MAYOR'SGREETING

Welcome to the Summer 2024 edition of our Douglasville Impact Newsletter! In this issue, you’ll find information about some of our most popular summer events. We’re excited to share that our Wednesday Wind Down series is moving to our beautiful GreyStone Amphitheater There is also a detailed layout of what we think are our Top 5 city events that we’d love for you to attend.

Also included in this edition is information about another project that we’ve been working on diligently this year, renovations at Jessie Davis Park! The park has been undergoing updates and changes for over a year now and will include amenities such as a

senior center building dedicated to senior programming, a new gym with additional indoor basketball courts and a walking track, a synthetic turf football field for our Tiger Cubs football team, zero-entry pool and splash pad play area, multi-use trail system, and more! I am looking forward to all our citizens being able to utilize the new amenities at Jessie Davis Park soon!

Lastly, our annual 4th of July Parade will extend to the Douglasville Town Green. Immediately following the parade, we invite attendees to enjoy festivities at the Douglasville Town Green

this summer with both new and recurring events.

Conversely, activities for seniors will continue at Jessie Davis Park

As mentioned in the mayor’s message, renovations at Jessie Davis Park continue The planning for these renovations originated from the Parks Master Plan. This year will see numerous updates to various city plans, including the Downtown Master Plan and Comprehensive Plan, amongst others These plans are crucial in helping city staff map out the community’s desires, with community input being an essential component. Thank you for consistently coming out to support the decision-making process

JULY 3 AND JULY 4 between the hours of 10:00 AM – 11:59 PM.

POLICE CALLS

Holidays, particularly the

4th of July, are among the busiest nights of the year for our police officers when they receive the most calls about DUIs and accidents, among other things. You can help keep the lines open for emergencies by not calling about fireworks between 10:00 AM and 11:59 PM, police officers will not be able to stop the fireworks.

KIND REMINDER

When planning your holiday activities with fireworks, we encourage you to practice kindness by keeping your neighbors in mind, especially those with young children or pets. Be mindful of the impact fireworks has on Veterans. A quick conversation with your neighbors could help them prepare for their needs
