About Lin Yen Hsiang / Doug I always have crazy ideas, and I rarely say "no". Some people think that I'm reticent, I just like to keep low-key. I don't "talk" to people, in fact, I "communicate" with people. And trust me, that makes me efficient. I know dreams are fulfilled only through action, not through endless planning to take action, so I make things go whenever I'm sure that it's right, but I'm still prudent for problem-solving. By the way, when it comes to a different problem, I'm used to getting some hot chocolate milk before taking a deep breath, and then I'll face it no matter how hard it is. It`s not how good you are, it`s how good you want to be.
Dart Deconstruction To search one of my daily supplies to break down its structure and use tenons to make a scale-up model without adhesives. This dart model is amplified tenfold from real size, the dart head can be removed, due to the complicated detail of its structure, I had to analyze completely and designed two-stage dart body(between the handheld position and its wings). The material is the foamcore with identical tenons, they can make it light, firm and definitely easy to stand stably. It`s interesting to comprehend how to design the tenons and the whole structure by simple material in this project.
Twice Side Chairs Furniture The concept of this design is from basin contours of the capital of Taiwan, it is surrounded by mountains, the chair's shape looks just like that. To design this chair, how to break the traditional idea of making a chair was the first thing of my mind. The chair is in the form of unit that could be a set or be used in different ways, so I followed the idea of contours to make the back raised and the flat side for the seat, and then I designed a pair of chairs, they can flat on the ground. When changing the angle, they can create different combinations and seat positions, two chairs in one set is not only for one user, maybe two or more users. There is one combination including the side table and chair functions, it's interesting and users could sit on the different level. I used corrugated to build up this furniture, piece by piece to stack together to show the texture, that is the other reason for its firmness.
Well Come Entrance Visualization The ordinary entrance could not attract people to walk in, sometimes just pass by, in order to let more people would like to come in from this entrance, I try to use the extreme shape to let it get more focuses. The concept came from the wing, to fly in or come in. From the distant view, people could see the white triangles in the fog, it is easy to know where is the location of the building.
Container Small Space Living Container is a simple and firm structure, but it may get hot and be uncomfortable for people inside, in the small space living project, I focused on the light and the function. Even there is no vitality of its original looking, I designed many different shapes of windows for the wall, then it could get much light inside and also let the elevations of this building be more interesting. In the middle of space, the bathroom`s concept came from the peanut, tiny but delicate with completion, also, it distinguished two parts(sometimes more), just like living room and bedroom. The different level on the floor could let its atmosphere get more fun.

Small Space Studio The main point in this studio project is using a limited space for seven people to have their own working desks. The Studio`s form looks like a hand holding something, it is not just like normal flat space, including mezzanine height at different level with beveled aisle. The site is located at the roof top, so both of the light and view are important elements at this site. The studio is a simple space for work and it's easy to move furniture or model.
Futuristic Museum Public Space Since it's a remote and natural place, people here are happy and pleased with theirselves. There is an invisible barrier between here and the external world. So I want to create an art block as a media to let this place be full of rich cultural flavor and show the coexistence between the locals, rain and natural landscape on this building to bring up and train the place to a future art community.
Water Theme Park Public Space This project conception is "water" with a limited space. The base is located at the culture and education area and the residential area. After observing the terrain of the base, I decided to follow the cultural and artistic way to do it. In the middle of the park, the low-lying square was used as a public space for leisure activities and performances. The scenery beyond the stage is the water flowing down with the translucent glass as the back. It shows amazing effect with different color lights at night. And it's definitely a beautiful decoration for performances with the wave and the inverted reflection in water. That makes the entire park alive. You can go on a picnic, read, or do other activities on the grass. The plaza next to the entrance of the park could be used as a place for outdoor concert or market at particular time. The vitality of this park brings up the community and leads everyone's heart forward.
Restructuring Street Lamp Recycling Recycle scrap metal and restructure them, and I used the street lampshade to make a speedboat .

Lamp Imagery Material: balsa Wood / Iron wire / Dyed paper/ Wax The concept is from conch in this curriculum of design, I tried to do the lamp with the 30watt FCL30D ring tube light upright on that. The transformer and a quarter of tube light both are under the lamp base, although the lamp cannot replace the tube light, it could still be fixed with base. For me, it's successful, this function and those effects were quite close to my design direction.

Living Room Popular Modern The living situation is living together and organized your living, the building type is a new apartment with lift, the inhabitant are four people, parents have stable income jobs and two children just starting school. In this case, I used 3mm MDF paint on concrete color to appear concrete wall which is one of popular interior material in Taiwan, there is a hose cabinet on the front wall, so it has to get 1.5x1.5 squae meter clearance or do not hinder the hose cabinet's door open, as a result of this issue cannot be change, I planned the house entrance at here on the floor plan to solve the wall elevation problem and let the interior space rationalization. The main product item is the medium price double add treble corner type sofa and support product is cabinet with high gloss doors. I created the corner organized cabinet combination to fix the limit corner space and I also used different depth frame size for specific location to prevent not hurting users, the floor cabinet with slide doors which is next to the main aisle to keep function and do not hinder the doors open.
Kitchen Popular Modern The Kitchen is one of importment space inside the home, in this room setting shows small space living and living situation is living together with a baby, the building type is an old apartment without lift, the inhabitant both have stable income jobs, so the product positioning price is medium to high in the work brief. The kitchen location is at the end of aisle before an emergency exit, in this case, there's a blind vision of this room, so I set the balcony door at this cold spot and created a good visual space for the kitchenware to provide customers an overview of the kitchen main products. The small space living situation is that both kitchen and dining room are in the same space, in the cabined room, I chose 20cm depth TV cabinets to keep enough space as a passageway to balcony. Culture of Taiwan, most family are use to watch TV during the dining time, as a result of this habit, in the current situation is that mother can cook the meals and take care the baby in the same time. Also, there are some lights surround TV under the shelf to relieve eye fatigue. The main product item is the medium price of high gloss doors kitchenware, I created the organized cabinet combination to fix the limited corner space and I also used the rolling door cabinet to make organization effective and interesting at the corner.
Children`s Bedroom Popular Modern For children, the space should be lively, interesting and safe. This living situation is living together with a 4 year old girl, the main wall color is pink, there is a cartoon painting on the wall at the corner to correspond the pattern on the quilt cover. I changed that Sun ceiling lamp to wall lamp and used carpentry with the LED product to make a cloud corresponding the wall lamp. Then the wall elevation may inspire customers to creat their own children room style. For different price ladder, we call the cheapest room setting "complete price room", there is a banner hanging on the wall to show all the items and their prices of the room to let customers know how cheap it is. One of IKEA CSP(Common Store Planning) suggestions is to creat the cat hole to connect one room to another room, make the room much fun.
Children's Safty IKEA Family The IKEA Family safty products display solution is not only functional but also practical. First product shows how to prevent children playing with socket, the next one is a door holder on the display board to let customers know how it works. The third one is the corner protection, I designed triangular carpentry to display the complete using way, the fourth one is the drawer section, I tried to show its drawer protection, the next one is one kind of door holders which could prevent fingers not getting hurt, the last one is the slip sticker, as same as the third one, I made the stairs to display it and customers could touch it and feel it.
Children's Arch Scandinavian Modern In 2013, there is the first children story book product in IKEA that we have never seen before, and the soft toy campaign communication all related a part of the book, so it's the main point for this year. The Children's Arch is a unique entrance to let customers know the area is Children's IKEA of the store, it will be update in a time period of six months. I redesigned all visual merchandising to relate the first story book which is connecting the whole communication and also created a interesting arch for customers. I focused some detail on this arch to let our young customers be interested to the story. The ladybug is on the wall to attract children's attention and so does the spider light. The fly dragon is with the red LED light supporting to let the location could be more like volcano or magma. At the corner of arch, I created a small cave for the cartoon lamps and you can also see the net inside, it is the spiders' house! There are lots of soft toy details on the arch to be discovered and increased the exposure for the first children's story book.
Soft Toy Give Twice IKEA Donation Activity Give Twice activity is a part of soft toy campaign, the purpose is to help vulnerable children to go to school and they could have more soft toys accompany their growing. Give Twice means customers bought a soft toy and put it into the donation house after cashier line. IKEA will donate EUR$1 to World Vision by customers' buying as same as the store will donate NTD$100 and soft toys to Down Syndrome Foundation R.O.C. For this donation activity, I designed a small wood house to collect all of donation soft toys, customers just need to put the toy into the chimney, the donation process is done. It is very easy and fun to do this.
