Like fine wine and cheese, oysters have a distinct flavour depending on where they are grown. Oysters from Pambula Lake have a smooth, subtle flavour influenced by the water they are produced in. The clean, clear waters of Pambula Lake are a combination of fresh water moving down the Pambula and Yowaka rivers, and tidal exchange from the Pacific Ocean - perfect for the production of the finest Sydney Rock Oysters. A section of Ben Boyd National Park lies on the western side of the Pambula Lake, and plays a significant role in protecting the catchment where oysters are grown downstream. Broadwater Oysters have been farming and processing the native Sydney Rock Oysters in Pambula Lake for 20 years. Owners Sue McIntyre and Greg Carton are passionate oyster farmers, and have been involved in many industry groups over the years. You can visit Broadwater Oysters on the Pambula Lake foreshore - talk to farmers about how oysters are grown and watch oysters being freshly opened for local restaurants and the general public. Situated between Pambula and Eden, turn off the Princes Highway onto Landing Road and head down to the lake foreshore. Broadwater Oysters offer fresh award winning oysters and a selection of other seafood to eat ‘natural' by the lake or enjoy at home. You can also pre-order oysters for local pick-up at Broadwater Oyster's new online shop, as well as gourmet gift hampers, oyster knives, sauces and more. Check out the online shop at www. broadwateroysters. com.au

VISITOR INFORMATION Shop 7, 29 Market St, Merimbula Ph: 1800 150 457
Merimbula, the tourist hub of the Sapphire Coast, really struggled in 2020, as did all our towns in the Bega Valley and Eurobodalla shires. Thousands of tourists evacuated during the summer bushfire crisis, then COVID19 hit, further decimating business incomes. Covid19 again hit the area hard on New Year's Even with another Victorian border lockdown seeing visitors fleeing south. To all the people who've come back, or come to the area for the first time, we say a big thank you - your support means so much to local businesses. Merimbula really does have something for everyone, with its beautiful beaches, lakeside restaurants and cafés, great shopping and an array of attractions and accommodation. It's a great place to go shopping, with locally owned shops and boutiques lining the main street and tucked away in arcades and courtyards. There are also plenty of cafés with excellent coffee, delicious ice-cream and gelati, and restaurants that feature fresh local seafood, locally-grown produce and vegetarian/vegan options. Check out the walking tracks around town - the walks from the Wharf to Spencer Park, the Bridge to Top Lake and around Fishpen have spectacular views of the water. Other things to do include snorkeling, surfing, cycling, enjoying a scenic flights, ten-pin bowling or experiencing native animals or marine creatures up close. Whales migrate past Merimbula from September to November each year, feeding and frolicking in the Bay, making it easy to whale watch from on board a boat or from the beach.
