Struck at the historic Melbourne Mint exactly 140 years ago, this flawless 1884M Young Head St George Sovereign is undeniably scarce in Choice Unc.

Queen Victoria 1884M Young Head St George Gold Sovereign NGC MS63 (Choice Uncirculated)

Offered in Choice

Uncirculated quality, this stunning Australian gold coin is underpinned by razor-sharp detail, clear fields and an entrancing original lustre.

The perfect partner for the coin at left, the 1884M Half Sovereign had a tiny mintage of just 48,000, and is excessively rare in Uncirculated condition.

1884M Young Head

Queen Victoria 1885M Young Head St George Gold Sovereign PCGS MS63 (Choice Uncirculated)

Uniting William Wyon’s classic portrait of Queen Victoria with the timeless beauty of Pistrucci’s St George motif, this 141-yearold sovereign is in Choice Unc.

Highly sought after, the Melbourne Mint’s Queen Victoria 1885M Half is the LOWEST mintage Australian Half Sovereign! Somewhat incredibly, the mintage was a mere 11,000!

A landmark Australian issue: the last Sydney Half Sovereign date bearing Queen Victoria’s Young Head portrait. Phenomenal value in Very Fine quality!

The perfect setting for your treasured coin collection, this handsome lockable antique cabinet encompasses twenty trays, which can play host to well over 500 coins.

Cabinet (20 Trays)

Dramatic, rare ‘A’ for ‘V’ Sovereign Error!

One of the great Australian Sovereign rarities, known by a handful of examples, this dramatic Queen Victoria Error type features an inverted ‘A’ for the ‘V’ in ‘Victoria’!

Although there are many Queen Victoria Sovereign varieties, there are very few Error types – and none defined by a blunder as glaring as this! Quite likely to be the simple mistake of an inattentive die-setter, the 1880S Shield Sovereign presented here features an obverse inscription where an upside down ‘A’ has been employed for the ‘V’ in ‘Victoria’! If only for the dramatic nature of the error, this distinctive type would be hotly pursued – but then there’s the issue of rarity.

Choice Unc quality!

The penultimate date of the Queen Victoria 1871-87 Young Head Sovereign Series, we have one example of the Melbourne Mint’s 1886M Young Head St George Gold Sovereign officially graded by PCGS at MS63 – the equivalent of Choice Uncirculated quality!

A superbly preserved piece of 19th century history, this impressive coin features excellent detail in the designs, underpinned by an entrancing full mint bloom. Undeniably scarce in such magnificent condition, and yet surprisingly affordable, you must not miss this golden opportunity!

Quality control at Australian branches of the Royal Mint was excellent – as exemplified by the lack of Australian Sovereign Error types. Although the Sydney Mint’s 1880S Shield Gold Sovereign ‘Inverted A for V’ Error slipped through the system, it seems certain that the fault was quickly discovered. Known by a tiny number of examples, this key type appears on the market at extremely infrequent intervals.

Highly sought after, regardless of the quality, we have one example of this stunning Error in an exceptional state of preservation – graded by PCGS at AU55.

The COMPLETE paper $50 collection!

An increasingly rare opportunity, this is your chance to secure the COMPLETE Australian paper $50 banknote collection – in strictly Uncirculated quality!

A short-lived series, Australia’s paper $50 was issued for only 20 years – from its launch in 1973 until supplanted by polymer in the mid-90s. Remarkably, for such a brief run, the $50 series is distinguished by a wide array of signature combinations and types. From the first (1973 Phillips/Wheeler) to the last (1993 Fraser/Evans), and every one in between, this set includes all eleven paper $50 issues!

Australia’s second highest denomination, the $50 is notoriously scarce in superior grade. With the last paper $50 issued 30 years ago, and this note simply too valuable for

most to set aside for posterity, the opportunity to secure all of the Australian $50 signature issues is seldom seen – especially in Uncirculated condition, as here.

Not only a fantastic opportunity to create a complete collection in an instant, this set also represents sensational value – SAVE $415 off the price of the individual notes! With only a few sets available – each housed Deluxe Lighthouse Album & Slipcase valued at $85 but yours for FREE –immediate action is highly recommended.

The scarce $50 polymer successors

The compulsory complement to the collection at left, we also have the immediate successors to the paper $50 series! A key element of our currency history, this set comprises a $50 polymer note from each year of issue from 1995 to 2016 – with every note in strictly Uncirculated quality!

Headlined by the 1995 & 1996 Fraser/Evans $50 notes, the scarcest of the polymer $50 series, the set is also highlighted by the three Macfarlane/Evans 1997-99 $50 issues. The four Macfarlane/Henry $50 issues from 2003 to 2006 are also included, along with the five 2007-11 Stevens/Henry $50 notes, the three 2012-14 Stevens/Parkinson $50 notes and the 2016 Stevens/Fraser $50 note. All of these notes are scarce in Uncirculated quality.

The 1990s polymer revolution sent many scrambling for examples of the soon-to-be-obsolete paper notes. As is so often the case, the ‘new’ currency was largely ignored in favour of the ‘old’ currency. That early polymer $50 notes were not set aside in any quantity at the time of issue is also due to the fact that the $50 has too much spending power for most people to casually pop away for the future. As a result, all $50 polymer notes are scarce in top grade.

Presented in a FREE album valued at $85, this strictly Uncirculated 18-note collection is now $345 off market value!

A genuine artefact of Australia’s WWII history, and representing a close link to one of our most famous engagements – the Siege of Tobruk – we are proud to present the original WWII Medal Group of Australian soldier Private Leslie James Clare.

Clare served with the 2/12 Australian Infantry Battalion in North Africa during the Siege of Tobruk in 1941. It is believed he was taken prisoner during the Battle of the Salient in early May, when Italian and German forces under Rommel were thwarted in their ferocious attempts to capture Tobruk. Clare was interned at Derna (Libya), before being moved to camps in Italy, including the hellish Camp Gruppignamo, before finally imprisoned at Stalag 8-A in Germany. After surviving four years as a POW, Clare was liberated by Allied forces and made it to Britain in May 1945.

Forming a powerful link with this remarkable story, and with Australia’s iconic Rats of Tobruk, Clare’s Medal Group comprises the 1939-45 Star, Defence Medal, War & Australia Service Medals (both bearing Clare’s name) and Africa Star, plus an Infantry Front Line Service Medal (unofficial) and Battle of Britain Medal (unofficial). In excellent condition, the group features the correct ribbons, and is mounted for wear. The medals are accompanied by an original newspaper clipping noting Clare’s capture, his original, official Certificate of Discharge, as well as photocopies of his Attestation Form and two Service & Casualty Forms.

An important opportunity for the serious collector or indeed anyone with an interest in Australian history, this genuine, original WWII Medal Group will be snapped up at speed.
