There is no doubt that Downtown York has many individuals and businesses who support the community. Each has a culture of their own, and have chosen to live and work here, driving the City’s future forward with positivity and light. Whether carrying on the legacy of a generations-run business or starting one from the ground up, or using their art to express hope and a sense of togetherness-the individuals in this feature are making their unique mark on our community. Here we spotlight just some of the people bringing their passions and traditions to Downtown York, helping to enrich it for us all.

What about York's past and present or future inspires you?
Though I am not a native, I feel grounded in York's past. There is so much rich history here.
How would you describe York in one word?
Exciting. Downtown York is going through a renaissance and it feels good to be a part of it.
What do customers love about your work/business?
We have a relaxed eclectic atmosphere. You can come in for a few minutes and receive help on finding a book or you can sit down, socialize, and peruse the area. It’s a rich environment. We also have open mic sessions.
Favorite spot to eat Downtown?
Old Forge Brewing Company (58 W Market St), where you can sit back and relax with a nice draft beer. I have taken guest authors that are visiting my store to Revival Social Club (19 N George St).
Where would you tell someone to visit if they are planning a trip to Downtown?
York County History Center (250 E. Market St.)
Over the years, what has been your proudest moment while in Downtown York?
2010- Merchant of the Year, notification on the floor of Congress about the PA Cigar Box Festival, a variety of famous authors that have stopped by like William Sanderson, Matt Lake, Weird AL Yankovic, Blue Man Group.
What are you most excited about for the future of Downtown York?
The new businesses, and the old businesses that are still here and growing and renewing.
