The DPAC Rising Star Awards
The DPAC Rising Star Awards program celebrated the achievements of high school musical theatre from across Central North Carolina on Thursday, May 9. Featuring 20 of the best high school musical performers in our region, this program propels the careers of Broadway’s future stars while supporting the important work being done by students and teachers both on and off the stage.
Hosted by Clay Aiken, the event distributed more than 10 awards including “Best Musical”, “Best Choreography” and “Best Ensemble”. The Best Actress award went to Alex Fluker from Panther Creek High School, and the Best Actor award went to Conor Kruger from Enloe High School. They will go on to compete in New York City at the Jimmy Awards, the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, in June.
