February started with two amazing concerts at DPAC: a hometown sold out show for country star, Scotty McCreery and two sold out shows for one of music’s biggest new artists, Mitski. We were also proud to welcome the return of one of the top-rated Broadway shows of all time, Ain’t Too Proud - The Life and Times of The Temptations for a week of incredible performances.

Durham Loveraiser brought their beautiful puppets in a celebration of music and dance and Blackberry Smoke, the southern rock band, gave a great show for their fans in mid-February. Nashville Songwriters returned for the 6th consecutive year to sing their hit songs and share their stories to the crowd.

Fan favorite, Dancing with the Stars Live graced the stage with their mesmerizing moves for two sold out shows. Nickel Creek put on an incredible performance after their nine-year break and An Evening to Shine Presented by Durham Public Schools brought local choral and dance students to our stage for an inspiring evening showcasing these future stars.

Gregory Porter, the soulful jazz singer-songwriter proved why he is called “the next great jazz artist” during his performance in late-February. David Foster & Katharine McPhee had a riveting night presenting their hits, and Joe Bonamassa rocked the house with his stellar guitar skills.

We ended this month full of shows with the brand new national tour of the timeless hit musical, Peter Pan for eight sold out performances. Thank you for your support as we continue to work to bring the best of live entertainment to the Triangle. We truly appreciate you.

DPAC’s Broadway Connects

Broadway Connects links touring Broadway shows with area educational groups through post-show talk backs with cast and crew, workshops, and other hands-on learning opportunities. DPAC facilitated an inspiring dance masterclass with Ain’t Too Proud – The Life and Times of The Temptations’ Brian Binion at Hillside High School. Brian taught choreography from the show, shared how impactful The Temptations were choreographically for many artists who followed, and reminded the group of students about the power of stillness.
