WELCOME FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
Dear Friends…
O
n behalf of Nederlander, Professional
Facilities Management and our entire staff at DPAC…Welcome!
At DPAC, we see live performing arts
and entertainment events as a shared human experience; an experience that
some say is now more important than ever.
Please know that this experience is made possible by
dedicated, authentic and kind people that truly care. All the professionals
working at DPAC are here to help you. They are trained and knowledgeable and want you to have the best experience possible.
As guests at this event, you are essential to this live experience—the show
would not go on without you. So, to help you (and the other guests seated
around you) to have the best time possible, we ask that you carefully review and consider these important suggestions, tips, and requirements. •
Be Helpful – We ask that you always cooperate with the ushers and
other DPAC staff. They are there to help you, ensure the performance
starts as scheduled, and to keep an orderly environment. •
Be Kind – Please treat these DPAC staff members with respect and kindness. They want you to have a great time, and they deserve respect
and a positive work environment. •
Be in the Moment – DPAC asks that you set your phones aside and fully be in the moment during this performance. Two very important reminders… •
The Broadway shows we host are very stringent in that they do
not allow photos or videos during the performance as they are
disruptive and can distract the cast and those seated nearby. •
And please silence your phones and wait until intermission or the
end of the performance to check for messages. CONTINUED
12 | DPAC
WELCOME FROM THE GENERAL MANAGER
Welcome from the General Manager – Continued •
Be Respectful – Be respectful of
the other guests, limit conversation
until intermission or after the show
and if you have children with you,
please step out of the seating area if they become restless or talkative.
•
•
Be Engaged – Be engaged in the
show! But please do not sing along
with the actors. It distracts from the
performance onstage and is not
thoughtful to those seated around you.
Be Careful – If you are having a mixed drink, beer, or wine, please be careful. Drink some water and ask for assistance if you are ever not feeling your best.
•
Be Patient – Be patient with any lines for snacks, beverages, and
restrooms. We know they sometimes can be long, and space is tight. We promise that everyone will get their turn. •
And Don’t Forget – Unwrap all candies now and refrain from making any noise with snacks and beverages during the performance.
And now it’s showtime…relax, sit back, and get ready to immerse yourself
in this live experience. We thank you for being here and hope that this event creates positive memories that truly last a lifetime. Sincerely,
Bob Klaus – General Manager

FANNY BRICE (1891 – 1951) was a trail-blazer in the entertainment world. She was born to Jewish immigrants and became a star, building a career in vaudeville, theatre, film and radio. Ms. Brice made her stage debut at Frank Keeney’s Theater in Brooklyn in 1906 and it became clear that she was destined to become a showbiz legend. In 1910 she was contracted by Florenz Ziegfeld for his 1910 Follies and she became Broadway’s highest-earning star. She performed in 11 Ziegfeld productions and headlined the 1921, 1934, and 1936 Follies, where she performed her most famous character, Baby Snooks. Ms. Brice would continue to perform Baby Snooks for a weekly radio program until the end of her life. In 1918, Ms. Brice married Nick Arnstein and the couple had two children together. She married songwriter and stage producer Billy Rose in 1929; they divorced in 1938. A beloved barrier-breaking comedienne and performer, Ms. Brice was honored with two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Ms. Brice’s career was instrumental to the future of women in comedy. Her life story and rise to stardom inspired the musical Funny Girl. ISOBEL LENNART (Book) (1915-1971) was born in Brooklyn. Afflicted by polio as a child, Isobel became an avid reader, especially of movie magazines. She became a screenwriter for MGM (Love Me or Leave Me, Inn of the Sixth Happiness, The Sundowners, Two for the Seesaw). She married actor-playwright John Harding and had two children, Joshua and Sarah. Some 24 films, three Academy Award nominations and on Writers Guild Laurel Award for Lifetime Achievement later, she turned to playwriting with Funny Girl in 1964. A Tony Award nomination for Best Musical followed and she wrote her last screenplay for the film adaptation in 1958. Ms. Lennart died in a car accident in 1971. Funny Girl was deemed “culturally, historically and aesthetically significant” by the Library of Congress (2016). HARVEY FIERSTEIN (Revised Book). Author of Torch Song Trilogy, La Cage Aux Folles (both Tony Award winners); Kinky Boots, Newsies, Casa Valentina (all Tony nominated); A Catered Affair, Safe Sex and Bella Bella. Television scripts include “Hairspray Live!,” “The Wiz Live!” and HBO’s “Tidy Endings.” He gave Tony-winning performances in Hairspray and Torch Song Trilogy, and starred in Fiddler on the Roof, La Cage Aux Folles, Gently Down the Stream and Bella Bella. MARGARET STYNE (Special Material). Margaret Ann Bissett Brown began her career as a model and actress. She was married to composer Jule Styne, and together they composed “What Do Happy People Do?” Upon Margaret’s death, Funny Girl producers announced, “Margaret was a brilliant storyteller who represented her husband Jule Styne’s genius legacy with creativity and imagination… Her Spirit will be imbued in our Broadway production of Funny Girl.” BOB MERRILL (Lyrics). Broadway composerlyricist and screenwriter. Unlike most of his contemporaries, Bob could not read or write a note of music, but would plunk out his melodies on a toy xylophone. Nonetheless, he became one of the most prolific songwriters of the 1950s with such hits as “How Much Is That Doggie in the Window” and “Mambo Italiano.” In the late 1950s, Bob composed music and lyrics of New Girl in Town, Take Me Along, Carnival and Henry, Sweet Henry. Later he formed an enduring partnership with composer Jule Styne, leading to his greatest artistic success, Funny Girl (1964) starring Barbra Streisand which included the hit songs “People” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade.” MICHAEL MAYER (Director) is very happy to bring this new Funny Girl to America, after a successful Broadway run. MOBILE ENTRY AT DPAC
Your Phone is Now Your Ticket
M
obile entry is a safe, easy, convenient, and contactless way to access and manage your tickets all in one place.
Safety is every venue’s #1 priority and mobile entry gives DPAC a
better understanding of who guests are prior to every performance through
this new adaptation. Now, more than ever, it is critical for venues to know who is in possession of each ticket in order to be able to share important information with them before the doors open and the show begins.
With mobile entry, which is powered by DPAC’s official ticketing partner
Ticketmaster, there’s no need for direct contact or physical exchange of
your ticket. Mobile entry guarantees a quick and safe ticket scan straight from your phone.
Our secure ticket technology reduces the risk of ticket fraud, eliminating
the possibilities of theft or counterfeiting. Once you’ve purchased your
mobile tickets on Ticketmaster, you can always rest assured you’re getting the seats you paid for.
Always be aware, though. Do not purchase tickets from unauthorized
online ticket brokers. Don’t be fooled by online websites who mimic DPAC’s name or website or offer tickets they might not even have. Go directly to DPACnc.com or to Ticketmaster.com.

Care puts you center stage. How are we like a Broadway show? We’re both full of people driven by their personal purpose—to make the lives and communities around them brighter. Sure, our musical numbers aren’t as catchy. But we’ll always show up and do our best to give you an unforgettable experience. Because the care must go on.
