AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH VISIONARY
TAVARA JOHNSON
T
aking the limits off her faith is what has propelled Tavara Johnson into greater dimensions of ministry and life! A dynamic and inspiring woman of faith and power, she has indeed pushed the boundaries of faith and exceeded even her own expectations. Tavara Johnson is a Human Resources Professional, events host, and mentor. She has a doctorate degree in Ministry of Christian Counseling, a Masters in Business, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Management. She is a published author “Dreamer on the Rise” which she co-authored and a recently released brand new singles devotional “The Weight of Your Wait”. She has founded several ministries that include: Woman II Woman a mentorship program and Jewels and Gems women’s empowerment events that ultimately birthed Distinctive Women of Worth events. Tavara began her career studying Electronic Engineering Technology and eventually landed a position in the human resources field. Even though her desire to help people with their needs was her driving force, eventually she realized that she really did not like what she was doing. She shared “it just was not for me. While I appreciated the experience, I had to acknowledge that things had shifted, and I found myself at a crossroad”. Our in-depth interview with Tavara continued below. FWM: Your accomplishments are quite impressive. Share with us about the motivation behind your recent book “The Weight of Your Wait”. TJ: Thank you! I am so excited for my third baby! I really did not intend to write it. I call it my “quarantine baby”. The motivation was to offer encouragement and comfort to single women to know that they are not alone. God gave me the revelation that as a single woman…there is a weight in the wait. The book provides different topics that are thought provoking September/October 2020

and the reflections in the book causes you to look at “YOU” from the inside and ask yourself those hard questions. I encourage single women to declare War! They must wage spiritual warfare in order to change their perspectives and speech concerning what they believe for. It is important to know that you will have what you say out of your mouth. FWM: It appears that you really have a passion for ministering to single women and that is awesome.
that they can make a difference. I would tell them that they can overcome issues with self-esteem and once you know who you are… you will not accept insane stuff from people. They must not waste precious time and realize that there is no plan B in their waiting. There should be no dating when waiting. You cannot afford to become entangled with someone that is not for you. Will God send you someone if you are? I would encourage them to “live life” and do not put it on hold! It is important to be comfortable with you first.
TJ: Absolutely! God has entrusted this ministry to me and even when I marry, I will still cater to singles.
FWM: Please share with us who Tavara Johnson is from a personal perspective.
FWM: Wow that is powerful! Tell me a bit about “Dreamer On The Rise”. What was your contribution to that collaboration?
TJ: I am a single young woman of God and Faith who loves the Lord and is passionate about the Pursuit of Purpose. I see myself as a “midwife” who loves to help other women to birth their visions”. “I am convinced that if I assist people in accomplishing their dreams, then they can help others and that makes us all better people”. Additionally, she stated that she is a “lady-inwaiting and she is quite content in her singleness.
TJ: “Overcoming Your Dry Season” was the chapter that I wrote in the book. I talked about the fact that it is generally the “hard places”, those dry seasons, wilderness trials, and times of pruning that God births so much in us! FWM: I am excited to hear more about these powerful ministries that you have founded. TJ: I realized that there are not many programs out there for singles. I found that many women are not content with their singleness and I believe that they must change their perspective on singleness. My desire through Woman II Woman, is to bring wholeness to women in their singleness and help them in their journey to understanding two becoming one. I really do not like doing what everyone else is doing. I believe that I am called to be different. Women of Worth was birthed from Jewels and Gems singles events ministry where we sponsored an annual women’s event only. I am so excited about this ministry! It is an events ministry, but I refer to it as a “singles experience”. With Women of Worth, we are able to meet with women more frequently and provide events presented in a spirit of excellence catering to women of all backgrounds. God said to me “quality over quantity”. Of course, with COVID 19 we had to halt our events this for this year. FWM: That is completely understandable. Tell me the one thing you would share with single women on their journey to matrimony? What valuable tool would you provide them with? TJ: I would tell them to know who they are in God and

DARE TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
A NATION DIVIDED… A DESTINY DENIED Oh’ beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain for purple mountain’s majesty above the fruited plains America, America God shed His grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shinning sea God did indeed bless America. It was with great authority, fruitfulness, goodness and His Divine protection and mercy that He raised her up head and shoulders above her brothers and sister and caused her to be a mighty force among the nations. He kept her boundaries and shielded her from the fury of her enemies. She became an ally to the defenseless and the home of the refugee and alien. When she grew fat and abounded in plenty… she forgot the God of creation, her source of grace and strength. Even as Samson forsook the Glory of the Lord and shed his locks, so has America thrown off the weight of the Lord’s Glory and sought after her own way. In her beginnings… wealth, influence, favor, and power, abounded in her midst. She shined bright in the splendor of God’s mercy and generosity. As a beacon for the lost, hurting, discouraged and forsaken, refuge was found within her borders and her gates were a fortress of strength and hope. What has she given in return for this amazing outpouring of God’s rich blessings? She has spat in His face, rejected His laws and commandments, defiled His Word, dealt treacherously with His beloveds and turned unto her own wisdom! She has completely lost her moral compass. What ever shred of dignity and respect that she claimed to have had, is now lost and not in the least bit apparent. Today…the voices of her lost, hurting, disillusioned and forsaken are crying in her streets and passageways. Their tears are staining her once beautiful garment of hope. Where has the brotherhood gone? Has patriotism waxed greater than the God of the nation? What has truly become of this great watchtower of light? The once beautiful dream has now become a torrid nightmare. The blood of the innocent runs freely in her streets. Justice for the innocent has become tainted, greed is now the idol of her soul, and love has surely lost it’s way. Who will intercede for her now? For those who have no advocate who will cry loud and spare not? America the “not so beautiful” you must turn from your wicked ways and seek the God of your salvation. Before it is too late… REPENT!! Salvation cannot be found in any other name! It is only at the name Jesus, that name that is above every other name, that every knee must bow and every tongue confess that He alone is Lord! One Is Not the
Loneliest Number By: Dawna Bunton

hey probably do not do it as much anymore now, but does anyone remember when you would go into a pharmacy and buy one thing and the cashier would ask “Will that be all for you?” I remember sometimes wanting to say “Do you see anything else on the counter or in my hands?” Instead I would just politely say, “Yes, that’s it”. Something about the obvious not being so obvious to them was annoying to me. But perhaps it was just a sales technique to get the impulse shopper to find something else to buy at the last minute. They keep lots of “goodies” and guilty pleasures right at the checkout counter – for easy access I guess. As a single woman, many times; especially for work, I travel alone. As an IT consultant, it became a normal thing to fly alone, carry my bags myself, eat alone most times, and even go out for leisure entertainment alone. I know many of you are probably reading this saying Wow, what a lonely life. It can be, but it’s all a matter of perspective. To a married mother of five children it may sound like The Life!
10
September/October 2020
The point I would like to make is that in the beginning it was not easy doing so many things by myself. It was awkward at times. Similar to my pharmacy experiences of the past, I would walk into a restaurant and approach the host as he or she would ask “How many?” and I’d say in a low almost embarrassing tone, “Just one”. So many times they would repeat back loudly “JUST ONE?” I felt like a young teenage boy buying condoms that need a price check requested over the intercom. I could not tell if there was sympathy or shock in their delivery of that question – Just one? It was not long before I just got used to it. I got comfortable with it. But before that could happen, I had to become comfortable with myself. I had to learn to like me. I had to learn to enjoy my own company and know that I was enough whether I had companions or not. There was no shame in being a party of one. Soon, I was walking in and boldly declaring “Just One.” If I ever detected that sympathy/shock in the host’s confirmation, I would confidently reply Yep! And yes, I would request to be seated in a booth! While waiting for my order, I would people watch (which is the best!). I would try to guess what other guests were talking about or whether a couple really liked each other and got along. I would check email, social media surf, make a call or sometimes just quietly sit and allow my mind and body to relax after a long workday. It was nice.
I am a movie buff, so sometimes I will grab some of my fellow consultant buddies and catch a good movie. I do not like watching funny movies or chick flicks alone if I can help it. But it was no big deal for me to go and watch a whole movie by myself if no one was available to go with me. It can actually be less distracting when it is just you ( just saying).
cool, alone. If that is you, I challenge you to ask yourself why. What is keeping me from trying it? Why don’t I feel like I would enjoy myself? You would be surprised at how much courage you will discover you have in you. You will find out things about yourself you never really noticed or gave much attention to. You will be surprised how much your body and soul will cherish the solitude and begin to speak to you about what you need to be healthy. Getting alone helps you hear God too. So many of us have lost our identity in our being a wife or a mom or a friend or in our careers or service to others. We have not really gotten to know ourselves beyond what happened to us, or the expectations placed on us by others or even the titles we wear. We have become especially co-dependent. We have never really explored the beauty and fully embraced the flaws of us. What “they” say about you doesn’t really matter. What do you know about you? Learning to love yourself, to like yourself, and to be comfortable in your own skin is not always an easy task. But it starts with overcoming the fear of facing the good, the bad and the ugly truths about ourselves – and accepting them. It is taking that first step to overcome your fear of being alone. Do it afraid if you have to. This is not about becoming independent and not needing anyone else. If that is what you are getting from this, you missed it. Luke 10:27 tells us, “Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’’; and, “Love your neighbor as yourself.” This is about becoming your best and healthiest you. It is necessary for us to know and love ourselves so that we can properly love others and not place unrealistic expectations on them. One-ness can mean wholeness. Beloved, to thine own self be true. – William Shakespeare
So many people feel like they could never do any of these things alone. They could not imagine going alone…sitting alone….doing something very

Sports Mania TIMES ARE CHANGING By OSCAR BROOKS
W
hen the Corona virus first began sweeping across the United States landscape in early 2020, few anticipated the far- reaching impact it would have on one of our nation’s most highly held institutions-Athletics. Safe to say with 2020 winding to a close Covid-19 has the entire sports world fully engaged.
When the virus first entered the public purview the general public was bombarded with a variety of viewpoints, each of which was equally confusing and dangerous, “ It is just a hoax”….”children cannot catch it” …….” it will go away when the weather gets warmer” and other theories with no factual foundation. The bottom line was that the Corona virus was unlike anything we had ever witnessed- it was not until professional athletes began testing positive in early spring 2000 that alarm bells began to sound throughout the sports world. It wasn’t long before collegiate and high school programs began shuttering all athletic activity. Fast- forward to Fall 2020 and we have no more answers than we had at the onset of the pandemic. Debates rage on regarding whether to return to in- person curriculum instruction. Administrators continue to grapple with the efficacy of returning to scholastic athletic competition. Faith Works Magazine took a look at the issues, and how the Corona virus pandemic has impacted plans for the pending school year up and down the eastern seaboard. Spring and summer are when most athletes and athletic programs make the greatest developmental strides. Off-season weight training, private training sessions, informal workouts and team showcases had become the new norm. Corona virus changed all of that. Many programs were not merely caught off guard, stunned might be a better word. “In the spring Governor Murphy sent down a decree that would not allow any youth sports to play “said Kevon Beresford, President of the 150 member Roselle (N.J.) Rams Youth Football Organization. “It is impossible to be completely at peace with the decision considering how many kids and adults depend on us for various reasons”, Beresford said. Developing a contingency plan for a virus that no one understood was especially difficult for those programs with a tried and true way of doing things. Ocean City (N.J.) girl’s basketball has established itself as one of New Jersey’s elite programs under veteran mentor Paul Baruffi. The pandemic not only halted the programs march to the state championship game in 2020 but threw a proverbial monkey wrench into Ocean City’s formula for consistently producing title winning squads. “We could not do anything”, Baruffi said. “No workouts, no strength training, no contact. 6 or 7 girls played some AAU bal but even that was limited. We lost out on our 2 week camp which serves as a feeder and fundraiser for our high school program. The only saving grace was that everyone was in the same boat. The restrictions were the same for everybody.” Football, which has long been the cash cow for most collegiate and scholastic athletic programs was left in limbo by the pandemic as well. Most programs use the spring and summer months to implement plans and do the bulk of their strength and conditioning gains. With the restrictions passed down by most states athletic authorities coupled with a dose of common sense teams were left having to adjust on the fly. “It not

only pushed our start- date back but we had to implement numerous social distancing rules”, said Donald Littlejohn who serves as Assistant Head Coach and Quarterbacks coach at South Pointe (S.C) High School. ”We could only work in small groups and had to wear masks throughout training. I think the athletes have adjusted, for them it has become the new normal”, Littlejohn added. With over 175,000 deaths nationwide and the flu season about to kick into high gear the pandemic shows no signs of slowing. School districts across the country are being forced to make some very difficult decisions about reopening and what athletics will look like going forward. The major sports leagues have resumed albeit in spectatorless venues. On the college level many of the major conferences gave it a go but have canceled fall sports after a number of programs experienced Coronavirus outbreaks. Scholastic programs have had to get creative in their preparation and return to competition plans. “We had to go all virtual, where I would have video conferences on a daily basis,” said Carlos LeBron, the boys’ basketball coach at Bridgeton (N.J.) High School. “I would have various guest speakers’ talk to the team on occasion. I also made offensive and defensive power points of drills that they would have to work on their own. It has been very challenging since no one has ever gone through this. My main point to the team was for them to stay safe throughout this whole pandemic.” Covid-19 also has negatively impacted college recruiting. In both football and basketball most of the showcases, which have become the lifeblood of college recruiting, are held in the spring and summer months. Most of these events have been
postponed until early fall or shelved altogether. Corona virus has dramatically altered the collegiate recruiting landscape with ramifications in to at least the foreseeable future. AAU Hall of Fame Coach Clarence (C.J) Johnson who has helped foster the careers of a number of pro hoopers and currently serves as the head girls basketball coach at Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte(N.C.)summed up the fallout from the virus for Faith Works Magazine.
“This situation is hard for the marginal athletes,” Johnson said. “On the girls side the low Division one and Division two athletes are in a panic mode. The high level athletes will be fine. It’s the late bloomer who is scrambling. ” Colleges have had to resort to watching live streams of the few events that weren’t shuttered. While this is hardly the most effective way to evaluate prospects it may soon become the new norm until a cure is developed or health officials at the highest levels sound the “all clear” bell. Bottom line is no one knows for sure what athletics will look like in the future, one thing is for certain, the old way of doing things is likely relegated to the history books.

HAPPINESS By: Dr. Marci Bryant
W
riters of every age have endeavored to show that pleasure is in us and not in the object offered for our amusement. If the soul is happily disposed, everything becomes capable of affording entertainment and‌ distress will almost want a name. The fountain of content must spring up in the mind and he who seeks happiness by changing anything but his own disposition, will waste his life in fruitless efforts. He will multiply the grief he purposes to remove. Man is in all respects constituted to be happy. Hence, it is that he sees goodness around him in proportion to the goodness that is within him. It is also for this reason that when he calls the evil that is within him, outside of him, it also appears so. If man therefore chooses that which does not seem to him
good, he can in a measure enjoy it. Goodness and truth leave something to be re-enjoyed in memory and after life, while falseness and evil leaves regret, disappointment and suffering. A great part of the unhappiness of men arises not so much from their situations or circumstances as from their pride, vanity, and ambitious expectations. In order to be happy these dispositions must be subdued. We must always keep before our eyes such views of the world as shall prevent our expecting more from it than it is designed to afford. We destroy our joys by devouring them beforehand with too eager expectation. We ruin the happiness of life when we attempt to raise it too high. Mendedemus was told one day that happiness was to have whatever we desire. "Yes," said he, "but it is a

much greater happiness to desire nothing but what we have."
The idea has been transmitted from generation to generation that happiness is one large and beautiful precious stone: A single gem so rare that our search after it is vain effort, fruitless and hopeless. It is not so. Happiness is a mosaic composed of many smaller stones. Each taken apart and viewed singly may be of little value, but when all are grouped together and judiciously combined and set, they form a pleasing and graceful whole: A costly jewel. Trample not underfoot the little pleasures. A gracious Providence scatters in the daily path while you are in eager search after some great and exciting joy.
We can adorn the head, but we cannot satisfy the heart. Happiness is in us, not in things. We talk of wealth, fame, and power as undeniable sources of enjoyment: Limited fortune, obscurity, and insignificance as incompatible with happiness. Le Droz, who wrote a treatise on happiness, describes the conditions necessary for it as consisting of the greatest fortitude to resist and endure the ills and pains of life, united with the keenest sensibility to enjoy its pleasures and delights. There is little real happiness on earth because we do not look in the right place. We look where it is not, in outward circumstance and external good. We neglect to look where alone it dwells, in the chambers of the heart and soul. Author Unknown 18

IF LOVIN’ YOU IS WRONG
M
y Queens…please do not be falling for the okie- doke! I realize that letting go is sometimes “so very hard to do”. But it often becomes a necessity for the sake of inner peace and soundness of mind and soul. YES…LOVE HURTS! But when you have come to the end of the rainbow and realize that it is not what you need any longer… let it go!
I understand that it is easier said than done, but you must learn to value your worth! You must stop lowering the value and price of your happiness by settling. Don’t you know that “settling” is a cuss word in the vocabulary of a Queen? And we Queens do not resort to profanity for any reason! While the ever elusive “forever” seems to just somehow by-pass many of you wonderful and amazing “jewels of great price”, even in your place of disappointment and discouragement, you cannot afford to allow yourself to be captured by the mindset of desperation for the sake of comfort and consolation. You gotta always remember that “YOU” are the grand prize, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and what is behind door number one! What you are not is anybody’s consolation prize, yesterday’s leftovers or the end of the season discount! As the season begins to shift and change, please be aware that there tends to be the propensity towards melancholy and other form of depression setting in. You must, therefore, guard your heart against feelings of loneliness and sadness overtaking your emotions and causing you to succumb to reckless

behaviors. Find yourself an accountability partner who will help you stay on track. You need an individual who can pray with and for you and be there when you find yourself struggling or slipping. Also, be certain to guard your heart against potentially toxic relationships that may just seemingly spring up out of the blue during this time. Some fall cleaning may be the order of the day! It might be time to sweep away the remnants of those faulty attachments and unhealthy commitments that you have been harboring for far too long. This could possibly be the catalyst to freeing up your heart and emotions for a brand new “harvest of goodness”. Do not be discouraged or in despair! Learn to embrace who, where and what you are at this juncture of your life. Begin to seek out and embrace those amazing and wonderful places inside of you. Enjoy honoring and celebrating them as you look to what is to come in your place of waiting. Great Reasons Why You Should Have An Emergency Fund
What Is An Emergency Fund? An emergency fund is money that you have saved to be used in case of an unexpected emergency. When you’re creating your budget or financial plan, you don’t have the luxury of knowing what the future holds, so it’s important to be prepared for something that isn’t expected. Emergency funds may not be the most exciting topic in the world of personal finance, but it certainly is one of the most important aspects of your financial life. Regardless of your financial situation, you need to have a plan in place for an emergency, one that involves setting some money aside specifically for an emergency. Why You Need an Emergency Fund: • To be prepared for unexpected expenses • To protect against a loss of income • For unplanned Medical expenses • To avoid debt • To improve your financial health • For peace of mind Most experts recommend that you have enough money in an emergency fund to cover 3-6 months of living expenses. That means, if you or your family spends $5,000 per month, you should have $15,000 – $30,000 in an emergency fund. If you are just getting started with an emergency fund, that probably sounds like a lot of money. Do not get discouraged. It is ok to work towards that goal gradually. Even having a smaller emergency fund of $500 – $1,000 can make a big difference and help with smaller unexpected expenses. If you do not have anything in an emergency fund right now, set your goal at $500 and start making progress. Setting a goal like $30,000 can be overwhelming if you are starting with nothing.
What Type of Account Should You Use? Many people keep their emergency fund in a savings account or money market account because: 1. The money in these accounts can be accessed quickly and easily with no penalty 2. There is no risk of losing money in a bad investment Online banks like CIT Bank, Axos Bank, and Radius Bank are ideal choices because they offer higher interest rates than most local banks, so at least you’ll be earning some interest on the money in your emergency fund. The most important detail is that you are able to access the money quickly. Many people prefer to know that their emergency fund is not susceptible to risk of dropping in value, but some people do not mind taking a little bit of risk with their emergency fund. Investments like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, and ETFs also offer a great deal of flexibility. What’s right for you will depend on your own risk tolerance, your financial goals, and your financial situation.
How to Save for Your Emergency Fund To get money into your emergency fund, you can cut back on your normal expenses or increase your income through a side hustle. There is no better time like the present to begin planning for the unexpected.

Financial Bondage Broken CLYRESE MINOR
I
wrote this book because as a Christian Financial Strategist, I see how challenging it can be for people to reach their financial potential and goals. They may lack some or mostly all of the financial knowledge and wisdom that is needed to succeed. I believe God has a plan for us financially. The plan includes many Godly and natural principles that align with His word. I created this book to be a simple step by step process teaching people how to get out of debt, stay out of debt, and be financially free.
I began my career as a financial coach in 2015 when the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart. He told me that He wanted me to teach His people how to manage their finances just as He had taught me. At the age of 18 I became a single parent. The 22 September/October 2020
extent of financial knowledge and experience I had growing up was, “When you become an adult get a job, a good paying job, pay your bills and take care of yourself. So, when I moved out on my own and got my first apartment, and then my second, making pretty decent money to cover all of my monthly expenses as a Certified Nursing Assistant, I struggled to make ends meet. It was not until 2012, when I did not have any food in the refrigerator and was a month behind in my rent that I said enough was enough. I begam shopping around for financial help. Every organization I went to was either too expensive and or did not have the services that I needed. I tried to figure it out on my own with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Within four months I was caught up and ahead on every bill and saved over $4000 in the bank. I no longer had to live paycheck to paycheck.
Here I am now six years later and married. I have incorporated those same principles that God taught me into my marriage. In 2015 I started Financial Bondage Broken LLC and in 2019 I launched Faith and Financial Ministries. I am the author of Breaking Chains of Financial Bondage: Steps to Generational Wealth. I have traveled to places like the Bahamas teaching and coaching people on how to live a life of peace and prosperity using God’s financial principles. I conduct workshops, seminars, and conferences around the country as well as virtually. I am also a recipient of the prestigious Iconic Award. THE PROFESSIONAL MOTIVATOR “MASTERING BEING YOU” You were created to make a difference, fill a void, and bring change. Your power and victory lie within your knowledge of “WHO YOU ARE…SAYS THE I AM” (He sees what you cannot Genesis 22:18)! You must learn to reconcile yourself with yourself. Let it be settled and resolved as to who you are! You are bigger and greater and more powerful than your shortcomings! They are simply indicative of your lack of knowledge and understanding of who you are. When you finally realize that the wealthy place in your world lies within you not without, you can determine your life’s trajectory. It is crucial that you are always on guard against the “identity thief’. He first comes to separate you from and rob you of the truth of who you are. He seeks to remove all possible evidence of this truth... then present you with and convince you of the lie or deception reflecting who you are not. The life of the lie is limited in the face of the truth. It cannot continue forever robbing you of your identity and keeping you imprisoned with deception. We all become slaves to our ignorance. You can easily convince me of the lie if I am unaware or ignorant of the truth!! Ignorance is deadly in the hand of a thief, therefore, be certain to guard your truth with all diligence! Be convinced of your own reality, your own story, understanding that the narrative you rehearse has to be your own. You define and learn to master you as God has created and determined your being. Never allow anyone else to be the voice of your destiny. Take authority over the opposition that dares to attempt to define you. As you begin to master “BEING”-“DOING” will become a way of life!

THE BORDER WHERE FAITH AND FEAR COLLIDE PT 2 By: Tamara Gregory
T
here will always be critics somewhere complaining, “there she goes talking about God again...oh here he goes with that story again..." They are not ready for you! Listen… Do not diminish your testimony to fit the bill or to line up with the narratives and expectations of others.
You have been through what you have been through. You have worn your scars with dignity and earned the right to wear your praise well. Let me tell you something, when a Dr has told you with tears in her eyes... if you had not come in when you did you would have been dead. You are not playing when you sing "it's your breath in my lungs so I pour out my praise...." Coming to rest at the border where faith and fear resides happens to the best of us. While I have stood in the gap for others during this faith journey, there are times darkness fills my senses and I want to curl up in a corner and just be-not think, not feel…just be. Anxiety often has my brain spinning at twice the normal speed and based on what I have been through, I should be curled up under a bridge talking to myself…BUT GOD! People see you looking well put together on the outside, but then you show up in the presence of an amazing God
acting really undignified, and they clutch their pearls. But, get your freedom! They do not know the cost of your praise. They cannot imagine how far you had to bend so you did not break. They have not even a clue how many times you had to fold so you would not crumble. Never allow fear to diminish your faith. The word of God tells us that our days are few and full of trouble. It does not matter how many times you have come to rest in the place where faith and fear collide, you are yet more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. Dare to trust God and believe that His word is true. The Holy Spirit on the inside of you is stronger than any weapon formed against you. Regardless of how many times you must pray and cry, you are assured the victory if you do not give up, for after the battle comes the reward. I recently had a flight experience that presented this this truth in a very understandable way for me. Like our pilot, the Holy Spirit keeps communicating with us. It may be in spurts, but He is always speaking. I love how much God cares for what we are going through. I want to share this with you so the next time you find yourself standing in the space between faith and fear, you will have some very practical principles to rely on:

1. Knowing there is trouble ahead prepares you to hold on Pilot: “The first 20 minutes are going to be rough. Remain seated and keep your seatbelt fastened until I have turned on the seatbelt sign...." 2. Pray effective fervent prayer Though I always pray, this information helped me to target my prayers more effectively. I was acutely aware of the situation I was about to enter into. 3. You are going to have to go through to get out Pilot: "We have a shelf of turbulence ahead. We can't stay beneath it much longer. I'm doing the best I can but we're going to have to climb". 4. Victory is not given without a fight. Keep your eyes on the light Pilot: “Ladies and gentlemen, it's about to get rougher now because the sun is coming out”. 5. Despite the rough journey, your breakthrough will come & often quicker than you think if you just hold on Pilot: “Ladies and gentlemen we have arrived at our gate ahead of schedule”. 6. Thank Him! As I exited the aircraft, I said to the Captain, “thank you…you did well"! He responded “you are welcome. We tried our best. The difference with Jehovah Azar -God our help is he never has to try. He is a Mighty Deliverer! Despite the many close calls, near misses and moments spent on the border, I am grateful. I offer thanks to God always because there will be another journey and there may be turbulence up ahead. When I thank him, I am reminded that He's capable. He has gotten me through safely before and He'll do it again. HERE ARE SOME BORDERS WHERE FAITH AND FEAR COLLIDE: • • • •
In the valley During the fog (warm air rises (Faith rises), cold air pressure descends (pressures of life descend) In the darkness On the mountain – You may be at the apex or at the base but nevertheless- a mountain
Personally, I do not subscribe to going up the rough side of any mountain. Sure, I have bad days and some downright scary ones but in the end I overcome. So, what is the key to overcoming? 1. Be blessed right where you are. Did you know fog is filled with moisture? It is basically low-lying clouds. So, if you cannot see your way out, you may as well be blessed in the waiting. That is a 28 September/October 2020
good place to ask the Lord for the rain. 2. Begin to view your mountain differently. Instead of seeing your mountain as a barrier keeping you from your destiny or yet another uphill battle, use that place to see yourself a victor. 3. See your mountain as a prestigious vantage point that gives you an elevated view of what is ahead. What you must understand is that when the word tells you to tell your mountain “be thou cast into the sea” it means just that. Stick and move. You are not pleading and begging that thing. It is one thing to be fervent in prayer and always keep praying. It is another thing to attempt to negotiate with terrorists. Your adversary is a bully that would like to keep you thinking he has the upper hand. The word of God tells us that he is defeated. No one has time for that! Fool around if you want to! Your time is better spent doing other things like walking in your season of plenty. 4. See your mountain as a place of shelter and rest and thank God for it. Next time you are tempted to get weary and crumble into a ball of despair and grief at the foot of your mountain, do not give in. 5. See your mountain as a place of authority. People of God, it is imperative that you know who you are! You must understand that God has graced you with a Samson type anointing deep on the inside of you. You have the capacity to overthrow principalities even when you are confronted with what may seem to be your greatest challenge yet. Stop living life in limbo and understand the Lord your God is a deliverer. Jehovah Sabaoth is the Lord of the Host… He is a warrior and He will fight for you. In 1 Samuel 17 David was standing in the space where fear and faith collides. Man, when Goliath came flapping his gums, flexing his oversized- self and taunting the people of God, David did not cower at the size of that mountain of a man. He saw that mountain as something to be conquered. What the enemy uses to try to devour you, God will use to deliver you. So, go ahead wild out if you want to! Praise as hard as you can lest you forget to give God all the Glory. The grave did not claim you and your God is still worthy. The scriptures remind us that we overcome by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. I am washed in the blood of the Lamb so… therefore, I am destined to be an overcomer daily. Each day that I live I am going to sing of the goodness of the Lord. I do not care what anyone thinks because it really does take all that and then some! Despite adversity, when I wake up and look around my home, I see miracle after miracle. So, I am going to rise and call myself blessed.

HEALTHY REMEDIES FOR WHAT AILS YOU GETTING BACK TO THE BASICS
Natural Honey Citrus Syrups For Coughs & Sore Throat relief Soothes a cold or just enjoy in hot water or a deliciously flavored cup of tea. A home remedy that works! Combinations of honey, lemon, and tea are age old remedies for soothing a cough or sore throat. Turns out there is actually some science behind them; these old remedies can really work! What luck that they taste good, too--way better than those drug store cough syrups. Studies have shown that honey can calm a cough as well as, or even better than, over-the-counter cough medicines. Honey has antimicrobial and antioxidant properties and can fight bacteria. Combine it with the nutrients in lemons & other citrus, herbs, and spices, and you have a natural, delicious way to treat cold and flu symptoms. Blends of honey and citrus can be swallowed straight from a spoon or stirred into hot water or tea. The steam and warmth of hot tea and water are also soothing to sore throats and can relieve stuffiness. Warning: Never give honey to a child younger than age 1 due to the risk of infant botulism, a rare but serious form of food poisoning. How to use these syrups:

September/October 2020
•
Swallow a spoonful or two of honey syrup to soothe a cough or sore throat.
•
Stir a heaping tablespoon (or more to taste) into a cup of hot water.
•
Stir a heaping tablespoon (or more to taste) into a cup of hot tea.
INGREDIENTS: • • • •
honey – buckwheat, pure unfiltered citrus – lemons, limes, oranges, and clementines herbs – fresh rosemary & mint spices – ginger (fresh, dried or ground), whole cloves, ground cinnamon, ground cardamom
GENERAL DIRECTIONS FOR FILLING JARS: (see specific ingredients for flavor combinations below) Slice citrus into rounds. Cut rounds into halves or quarters so they will easily fit inside jar. In half-pint (1 cup) jar, add half of citrus, herbs/spices, and honey; stir gently to mix. Add remaining half of ingredients; stir gently. Top off with more honey, if needed, to fill jar. Cover and store in refrigerator. After 4 hours, stir to combine honey with citrus juices that have released. Syrup is ready to use. Will keep in refrigerator for up to 1-2 months. As syrup is used, may continue to top off jar with additional honey. RECOMMENDED FLAVOR COMBINATIONS (These are approximate measurements, since citrus sizes can vary. As a guideline, jar should be approx. 3/4 full of citrus, leaving room for approx. 1/2 cup or more honey.) LEMON GINGER HONEY: 1-2 lemons, 1 teaspoon ground ginger (or 2 tsp. grated fresh ginger), 1/2 cup honey (or enough to fill jar). ORANGE CLOVE HONEY: 1/2 orange, 16 whole cloves, 1/2 cup honey (or enough to fill jar). Optional: 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon also may be added. CLEMENTINE CARDAMOM HONEY: 1-2 Clementines, 1 teaspoon ground cardamom, 1/2 cup honey (or enough to fill jar). LIME MINT HONEY: 1-2 limes, 6-8 fresh mint leaves, 1/2 cup honey (or enough to fill jar). Remove mint leaves from jar after 1 week to prevent spoilage. LEMON ROSEMARY HONEY: 1-2 lemons, 3 sprigs fresh rosemary, 1/2 cup honey (or enough to fill jar). *May use all regular honey, all buckwheat honey, or a mixture of half of each. Many find the buckwheat honey flavor to be too strong, so combining it with regular honey is a good compromise. September/October 2020

Kidz World School Dayz Backpack Safety •
Choose a backpack with wide, padded shoulder straps and a padded back.
•
Pack light. Organize the backpack to use all its compartments. Pack heavier items closest to the center of the back. The backpack should never weigh more than 10% to 20% of your child’s body weight. Go through the pack with your child weekly and remove unneeded items to keep it light.
•
Remind your child to always use both shoulder straps. Slinging a backpack over one shoulder can strain muscles.
•
Adjust the pack so that the bottom sits at your child’s waist.
•
If your school allows, consider a rolling backpack. This type of backpack may be a good choice for students who must tote a heavy load. Remember that rolling backpacks still must be carried up- stairs, they may be difficult to roll in snow, and they may not fit in some lockers. Review backpack safety with your child.

WHEN GOD MOVES By: Dr. Theresa Mercer
R
ecently, I was on the phone with a couple of Prayer Warriors and as we were in conversation regarding the condition of our country and God's people, I began to voice my concerns as they pertained to the church. We are being confronted with the spirit of lies, deception, hate, anger, murder, and a pandemic all in an attempt to crush us through fear. This spirit of fear has brought depression, stagnation, and great confusion amongst the people, even those who claim to be Christians. When I look at ministries on tv, I can easily see that so many are abundantly blessed. We always tell the people that our God can do anything but fail. We assure them that our God is the Almighty God and that there is nothing that He cannot do. I began to think about our confessions as believers, when I say our, I am talking about those of us who carry God's Word. We confess that our God is our protector the Supreme God and that He has all power in His hands. We proclaim that He is good and that there is nothing impossible for our God to do and that He will take care of you! Do we really believe the words that we proclaim? Do we really believe that our God is the Almighty God? Do we really believe that He has all power? Are we playing a game for money or fame or are we just weak in faith making our words of no effect? I can see how God has blessed so many with so much. Have they forgotten Luke 12:48 "For unto whomsoever much is given of him shall be much required?" I then ask myself, where are the men
48 September/October 2020
and women of Faith to whom much has been given? An airplane goes down and everybody calls openly for much prayer…yet here we are, overwhelmed with the spirit of fear, a pandemic and violence, and are silent. I assure you this is not the time to hide and be silent! Who will call the body together to pray and cast out the spirits of lies, fear and deception? Why are those of us, the much blessed, who have a larger media presence to call the body of Christ to stand as one people who believe that God sent Jesus into the world to save us not doing so? 1 Corinthians 12:12 states “For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that body being many are one body: so also is Christ”. Where are God's people who know what the Bible says about how to survive calamities as we are now facing today? Who is calling for calm and order? "Who does believe the report of the Lord? Who is filled with the power of the Holy Ghost and is fearless as David? We are waiting for you!!! And while we wait, we are praying three times a day on our prayer line "Pray Without Ceasing" at 909-318-7015. We invite you to join us as we pray for you and your families. We are asking God in faith with nothing doubting (believing) that He will keep and deliver us His people, the sheep of His pasture, in the midst of this calamity! We believe miracles will happen because of our faith, "WHEN GOD MOVES"!

HOPE THE ANCHOR OF THE SOUL By: PATRICIA BUNTON
S
ad to say so many of us are caught up in the intoxicating aroma and appeal of our own decaying flesh...that we have become dull of hearing the heart wrenching cries of desolation and despair of a world gone horribly wrong! This putrefying stench that nauseates the very nostrils of God, has captured our senses and is holding captive our souls! While we indulge in rejoicing and celebrating our carnal accomplishments and dead deeds, the world languishes in depravation, squalor, despair, darkness, and utter hopelessness. Where is the eternal promise and hope of salvation? Where is the much anticipated and awaited redemption for the world? Has the promise been reneged? Rejected? Denied? Is all hope lost? God forbid! There yet remains a people… ordained by God, prepared and equipped by Him alone, standing at-the ready. They are awaiting the sacred sound of their marching orders, to advance, pursue, overtake and recover all. These are endued with the oil and the wine, the balm of Gilead and the Word of His Power for the healing of the nations! They have been given hearts filled with the Father’s love and compassion. They comprehend the suffering and sadness of the lost. Eager to do their master’s bidding, they anxiously anticipate the battle. These are those who are as David’s men were! They are strong and courageous, fit for the battle, fearing God only! Wicked and vile men have sold out humanity for filthy lucre worshipping the god of mammon. As hope cries in the distance, many will hear it, they shall begin to rejoice and be glad that the anchor of their soul springs forth eternal…hope remains!
“Why are thou cast down, O my soul? And why art thou disquieted in me? Hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance. Hope is how we survive the current climate in this world that we live in. Without it we would all give up and ultimately be lost. Hope says “inspite of all that may be going wrong in my life…I yet choose to believe that my circumstances will eventually change for the better”. We do have a hope even in the place of despair. God will never leave us nor forsake us even when others refuse to acknowledge or support us in our struggles, God is forever our strength and comfort.

Poetry Speaks LETTING GO In having I am made poor that I might receive all In knowing I am made dumb that I might learn In seeing I am made blind that revelation might be made manifest In speaking I am made silent that I might gain wisdom from on high In thinking I become confused that I might have understanding In want I am made full, in lack I was amply supplied In all of my getting‌I gain nothing But in my letting go‌I receive everything In Him my joy is complete!
